It’s quite simple to create a similar decoration in the form of different flowers, all you need is felt and a little free time. A step-by-step description of the technology will tell you how to make a felt hairpin correctly and quickly.

    Tools and materials

    Before you learn how to make a felt hairpin, you need to prepare the following materials:

    • felt in pastel shades (you can use any color);
    • scissors;
    • pencil;
    • glue gun;
    • hairpins.

    If you wish, you can make felt pins or elastic bands in bright colors.

    It all depends on your preferences and taste.

    Roses-clips made of felt: master class

    1. Using a pencil or pen, draw the blank on felt in the form of a wavy spiral two centimeters wide and approximately fifteen centimeters in diameter.
    2. Next, use scissors to carefully cut the spiral along the previously drawn lines.
    3. Start twisting from the outside of the spiral, where the waves are larger.

    Then roll a wavy spiral into a flower shape. When folding, it is necessary to firmly fix the craft, otherwise it may unwind.

    1. Increase the spread of the petals as you roll from the middle to the outer edges. If necessary, you can pull out the petals. This will allow you to open the flower a little and expand it.
    2. After completing the folding of the petals, you need to apply a little hot glue to the underside of the felt and secure the craft.
    3. All that remains is to apply a drop of hot glue to the back of the flower and glue it to the hairpin.

    A variety of chic felt hair clips in the shape of roses are created in a similar way. Your painstaking work on the product is complete.

    What will you need?

    To make a summer felt hairpin, you will need to prepare a standard set of materials:

    • yellow and green felt one millimeter thick;
    • needle and thread;
    • metal hair clip;
    • scissors;
    • roller knife;
    • glue gun.

    Felt dandelion

    If you have prepared everything you need, then let's get to work:

    1. The first thing you should do is cut a strip of yellow felt eight centimeters wide and thirty centimeters long. Fold this strip in half and use a simple pencil or chalk to mark the future stitch line.
    2. Using a needle and thread, sew exactly along the previously marked line. Then trim off the excess thread.
    3. Take scissors and make cuts along the entire length of your workpiece to a depth of approximately 0.3 centimeters. The cuts are made from the edge of the fold and are limited to one centimeter from the edge of the strip. Thus, you have designated a boundary that cannot be crossed.
    4. Cut your strip slowly so that everything is neat, nice and even.
    5. Once everything is prepared, carefully apply hot glue. Then twist your strip as tightly as possible at the base.
    6. Glue the beginning of the strip well, and then roll it up step by step, applying glue along the entire length of the edge.

    1. Make sure the base remains level. Since the lower edge of the strip along its entire length should be at the same level from turn to turn, without any displacement.
    • The glue should be applied carefully close to the lines you marked with a pencil for ease of cutting.
    • The felt strip should be well twisted and carefully fixed.
    • We cut all the resulting loops at the top base. Work that requires scrupulousness and attentiveness, but is practically time-consuming and easy to perform.
    • Try to cut so that both halves are the same length. This will not be difficult to do if, at the moment of cutting, you slightly pull each of the loops up.

    Making leaves

    Despite the fact that the manufactured dandelion looks quite realistic, it clearly lacks leaves. Therefore, on paper, draw by hand the expected outline of the leaf. Then transfer the outlines onto a sheet of green felt and cut out with scissors.

    Once the leaves are cut out, place them on a sheet of slightly lighter green felt and stitch down the middle. Remove the excess threads and cut the bottom light green layer of the leaf at a distance of one millimeter from the top layer.

    Final assembly

    Once the flower and leaves are ready, you need to go back a little and cut off part of the flower stem. It was the part that we coated with glue and rolled into a tight roll. We will cut right below the line. This is best done with a sharp blade of a retractable knife. You need to remove all excess so that no more than five millimeters remain of the cut petals.

    Now you need to attach the leaves, after which your adorable yellow dandelions will be finally assembled. However, the task, in addition to making flowers, is to create a hair clip from the resulting bouquet. Therefore, we will continue to work further.

    • Glue leaves to the base of the flower. It is necessary to attach two leaves to each flower. One is big, the other is smaller.
    • Now measure the diameter of the dandelion stem. This is the exact diameter you will need to cut out a circle of yellow felt. Use this circle as a placeholder to hide all the rough work. Apply glue to the circle piece and glue.
    • The final stage of your work will be gluing the metal hair clip. Since the base of our felt flower is quite small, we will glue the clip onto one of the leaves.
    • We place the clip so that it is not visible from the front top side of the hairpin. During the gluing process, it is advisable to use a hot gun with silicone rods.

    The final stage

    Having mastered the technique of making such a flower, you will understand that a felt hairpin is quite simple to make and can be done by beginners and high school students.

    Together we tried to make felt hairpins. As you noticed, working on the product is simple and interesting. However, this hobby will require accuracy, effort and a sufficient amount of time from you. However, all these efforts are worth it so that the original and delightful hairpins will sparkle on your hair in style. Therefore, if today you have an evening free from household worries and troubles, then why not please yourself or your loved ones?

    Make beautiful felt hair clips in the shape of flowers with your own hands and give joy to others and yourself!

    Soon summer will delight us all with good warm weather, and finally we will walk without hats. And you can decorate your hair with a new bright hairpin. Of course, you can buy a hairpin in a store, or you can make it yourself.

    It’s easy to make flower-shaped hairpins from felt. Flowers can be made in the likeness of real ones (for example, looking at a photograph of some beautiful flower), or you can come up with fantastic flowers of unusual shapes and colors.

    To make a hairpin you will need small scraps of felt that you might have left over after making some larger items, some beads and colored beads.

    Materials and tools needed to make the Flower hairpin:

    • - lilac felt;
    • - red felt;
    • - green felt;
    • - orange felt;
    • - hairpin;
    • - thin bead needle;
    • - red beads;
    • - white mother-of-pearl beads;
    • - white threads;
    • - lilac threads;
    • - nail scissors.

    The procedure for making a hair clip “Flower”

    1. Let's make a pattern that we will need to make the hairpin. Cut out a large petal from paper 4.5 cm long and 3.5 cm wide, and a small petal 2.5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. Cut out a leaf 3 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. It remains to cut out a square of size 3 x 3 cm - this will be the basis for the flower.

    2. Transfer the large petal pattern onto lilac felt and cut out five identical petals. We will transfer the small petal pattern onto orange felt and also cut out five petals. We will transfer the leaf pattern onto green felt; we will also need five leaves. Cut out two squares from lilac felt. Now we have all the parts to make a flower clip.

    3. Take large lilac petals, fold each petal in half and sew it at the base. The petals will gain volume.

    4. Now we will put a small orange petal in each large petal. After this, take the red beads and sew beads with a thin bead needle along the edge of each orange petal, stitching both the orange and lilac petals at the same time. As a result, the orange petal will be sewn to the lilac one and will be decorated with beads.

    5. Let's collect the finished petals into a flower and sew them together.

    6. Turn the flower face down and sew five green leaves between the petals.

    7. Turn the flower over to the front side again - the leaves should peek out a little between the petals.

    8. Decorate the middle of the flower. Using white threads, we will sew a white mother-of-pearl bead in the center of the flower, and around it we will sew several more of the same beads.

    9. Turn the flower over and sew on the back side a base - a square cut from lilac felt.

    10. Take a second square cut from lilac felt and cut a small hole in it with nail scissors. Let's insert a hairpin into this hole.

    11. Sew the flower to a square base secured to a hairpin. This is what the hairpin looks like from the back now.

    12. And this is how the hairpin with a flower looks from above, from the front side.

    The “Flower” hair clip is ready. Using the same principle, you can make other hairpins; they can be of different colors and sizes. Children will also like these hairpins. Little girls can take part in their making, helping to cut out the details, and older girls can make such decorations on their own, choosing the colors of felt to match their outfits.

    Having mastered the technique of making such a flower, you will understand that felt hairpins are quite simple to make and are quite within the power of high school children and novice craftsmen.

    Step 1: Cut out the spiral

    Using a pen or pencil, draw a jagged spiral shape 2.5 cm wide and approximately 15 cm in diameter on the felt.

    Using sharp scissors, carefully cut the spiral along the drawn lines.

    Step 2: Roll the Flower

    Starting at the outside of the spiral where the waves are larger, roll the wavy spiral into a flower shape. While folding, hold the craft tightly, even from above, otherwise it may unfold.

    While rolling, gradually increase the spread of the petals from the center to the outer edges. If necessary, pull out the petals, which will allow you to slightly expand the flower and open it up.

    Once you've finished folding the petals, place a little hot glue on the underside of the felt and secure the craft.

    Step 3: Add a Hair Clip

    Place some hot glue on the back of the felt flower and glue it onto the bobby pin.

    Materials for work:

    1. Set of felt (different tones of red, orange, brown, pink)
    2. Thread and needle for stitching parts
    3. Set of click-clack hairpins
    4. Pattern of roses ( download)

    The process of creating felt hairpins

    To begin, cut out the pattern pieces from paper and transfer them to felt. You should end up with 5 different parts.

    • One ribbon with a wavy edge in color “A” (we will use it to make a rosebud). In this case, the color red is taken.
    • One five-leaf flower "A" color
    • One quatrefoil in color "A"
    • The top of the hairpin is in color “B” (pink is used here)
    • The bottom of the clip is in colors “A” with a small horizontal slit (marked on the pattern)

    Rosebud

    Carefully roll the ribbon, starting from the smaller edge (marked “Center” on the pattern). The rosebud is almost ready!

    Choose a thread to match. Sew the center of the bottom of the bud with a few tight stitches. Make sure that all layers are captured when stitching.

    Rotate the bud 90 degrees and stitch again through all layers, perpendicular to the previous one. You can sew a couple of times in one place so that the stitches stay well.

    Tie a knot and trim off the excess thread. Work on the bud is finished!

    Felt rose petals

    Sew the quatrefoil to the bottom of the bud, as shown in the photo.

    Grab two adjacent petals with a thread. When making a stitch, grab the side of the bud as well.

    Sew all adjacent petals in this manner.

    Repeat the same for the five-leaf leaf.

    Well, that’s all – the rose in all its glory! As you can see, it’s not at all difficult to make, and they are charming in all their variations. Now you can use it as a decoration for clothes, for the home, or make a hairpin out of it. That's what I suggest you do =)
