And if I give away all my possessions and give my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good.” (1 Cor. 13:1-3)

“Love is long-suffering, kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, is not proud, does not act rudely, does not seek its own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; it bears all things, it believes all things, it hopes all things, it endures all things. “You have heard that it was said: love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you: love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who use you and persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, for He commands His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. “... let us love not in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18)

The word “love” today can be understood in different ways.

    For example:

    • love to motherland
    • love for a pet
    • love for mom
    • love for wife or husband, child

We say “love”, and sometimes we express by this we mean a different attitude towards someone or something.

    What is true love?

If we ask a person, then depending on his views, age, age, we will get many options, but which opinion should we choose to say - “now I know”?

We will be able to spend enough time discussing these issues. I suggest you ask God.

Let's turn to Holy Scripture, to the Epistle to the Corinthians:

4 Love is patient and kind, love does not envy, love does not boast, it is not proud,
5 He does not behave unruly, does not seek his own, is not easily provoked, does not think evil,
    6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth;
7 He bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails, although prophecies cease, and tongues are silent, and knowledge is abolished.
    (1 Cor. 13:4-8)

In this passage we are given the characteristics of “Love.” We can safely note that love is not just feelings, but actions - deeds.

The Son of God came into this world to show us True Love. Jesus gave us a personal example - showed us what true love does.

Feel free to replace the word “love” with the name “Jesus” in the passage (1 Cor. 13:4-8).
    Try re-reading, what happened?

Personally, I myself never looked at these lines as if in a mirror, until a certain moment...
Let's now put our name on the passage and read it again.

I confess to you that when I read to myself, I understand that there is something to strive for.

Jesus showed us love and He wants it to live in you and me.
She did not just exist, but acted as it is written from verses 4 to 8.

9 The love of God for us was revealed in this, that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might receive life through him.
10 This is love, that we did not love God, but He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
    (1 John 4:9,10)

15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
16 And we knew and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
    (1 John 4:15,16)

8 But God demonstrates His love for us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
    (Rom.5:8)

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, let you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

For if you love those who love you, what will be your reward? Don't publicans do the same?

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles. Sol 24.17

Do not say: “As he did to me, so I will do to him; I will repay a man according to his deeds.”

Just as in water there is face to face, so a person’s heart is to man.

What you hate, don’t do to anyone.

No more love as someone who lays down his life for his friends.

But to you who hear, I say: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.

Love does not harm one's neighbor; So love is the fulfillment of the law.

Bless those who curse you and pray for those who abuse you.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself. Jesus said to him: You answered correctly; do this and you will live.

You have spoken the truth, that there is one and there is no other besides Him; and to love Him with all your heart and with all your mind, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself, is greater than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Love consists in our acting according to His commandments. This is the commandment which you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.

He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no temptation in him.

You also love the stranger, for you yourself were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Love consists in our acting according to His commandments.

And those whom He predestined, those He also called, and those He called, them He also justified; and those whom he justified, he also glorified.

Who will accuse God's elect? justifies them.

Most of all, have fervent love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

And if I give away all my property and give my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good.

Love never ceases, although prophecy will cease, and tongues will be silent, and knowledge will be abolished. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, love; but love is the greatest of them all.

Let everything you do be done with love.

For hardly anyone will die for the righteous; maybe someone will decide to die for a benefactor .

Above all, put on love, which is the sum of perfection.

Love is long-suffering, merciful, love does not envy, love is not arrogant, is not proud, is not rude, does not seek its own, is not irritated, does not think evil, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; covers everything, believes everything, hopes everything, endures everything.

One day a man walked into a bookstore. One could read a keen interest in his eyes: books were a part of his life. A few minutes later, the newcomer stopped in confusion in the middle of the hall and, although his gaze still continued to slide along the shelves, surprise and bewilderment were reflected in his entire appearance: where am I? Man first entered the world of Christian literature.

    – Are these all books about God? – the visitor was surprised, not believing his eyes.
    – Yes, this is a Christian book store. We have no other literature.
    – What can you write about Him to write so many books?
    – How many books do you think have been written about love? – The seller asked him.
“So, the same, about love-and-and,” the man answered in a singsong voice, shaking his head from side to side.
“The Bible says that God,” said the seller, opening the first epistle of John, chapter 4. – That God is... yes, you can read it yourself, here..., verse eight.
    – “He who does not love has not known God, because God is love”

For some time, both the seller and the visitor stood silently in front of the open book, mentally repeating to themselves every word they read.

“You know,” the man finally said, “I’ve never thought about this before!”
    - Understand. We all rarely think about this. I advise you to purchase this book. I assure you that in the Bible you will find a lot of interesting and useful knowledge for yourself!
