    Whether you are a master or a beginner, it is very easy to create a similar pattern for private use! To keep the head and upper body of the snake vertical, when stuffing, you need to insert a thick bendable wire.

    The size of the snake from our master class is 20 cm, it is sewn from fleece and cotton, stuffed with padding polyester, but beginners can use any other available material.

    So, how to sew a toy snake at home? Let's look at the step-by-step instructions.

    Pattern for sewing a snake with your own hands step by step

    We draw the snake pattern ourselves or use ours.

    Well, where the body is is immediately clear, but the part next to it is part of the head, you need 4 of these parts.

    Place one piece of fabric on top of another and cut along the outlined outline.

    We carry out standard procedures - sew it together, turn it inside out, fill it with padding polyester (or something else, padding polyester would be the best option). Since the body of the snake toy turns out to be quite long, we had to (which we advise you to do) make an additional hole, first stuff through it, then the rest. Another tip about filling - do this quite tightly, then the snake can be modeled in different poses, it will perfectly “hold its head.”

    Attach the head to the finished product

    It's the head's turn. From the piece that was in the pattern, we cut four blanks. We decided to make a two-color head, so we made two of one color and two of another. Next, we fold the same-color parts and sew them halfway, from cross to cross.

    Now we connect the multi-colored parts to each other, sew them together, leaving a hole at the back of the head. We stuff the body through it after turning it inside out, then we sew it together with a hidden seam.

    We put the head to the body, bait it in four places, maybe more. After this, sew tightly with a hidden seam.

    Dear readers of the online magazine " Handmade and creativity,” today we propose to make such a charming snake. This DIY snake toy is very easy to make; even a person who is not very familiar with sewing can cope with this task. After all, in order to get yourself an interesting soft animal, it is not at all necessary to buy it in a store. A touching, devoted friend, and maybe even a cocky one, can be acquired by sewing it with your own hands, using our step-by-step descriptions and photo.

    Required materials and tools:

    • thick fabric of various colors;
    • batting or other filler;
    • buttons for eyes;
    • red tongue tape;
    • threads to match the fabric;
    • sewing machine;
    • needle.

    Cutting out the parts for the toy

    To sew a snake toy with your own hands, decide on the fabric: use bright, unusual fabrics, preferably dense or special soft cloth, from which toys are sewn. For the snake's belly, the fabric may be thinner. So, cut a long strip of fabric that is rounded at both ends. Also, make sure that the fabric expands at the head and gradually tapers towards the tail. Use this piece as a template for the bottom of the snake. Place it on the fabric and trace the outline, then carefully cut it out.

    Sew together parts of the toy

    Apply a tongue strip to the middle of the toy's head and secure the edge with needles. Make sure the tape is placed on the front side. Fold the parts of the snake and secure with tailor's needles so that the tongue is between the parts. Sew around the outer edges of the toy sewing machine. Leave about 10cm along one side unstitched. Through this hole we will fill our snake with filler.

    Stuffing the toy

    Turn it inside out and fill the body of the snake with batting or other material. Use pencils or knitting needles to fill the furthest parts. Try not to make the snake too tight, otherwise the seams may come apart over time. Sew the hole by hand or with hand stitch on a sewing machine.

    Decorating the face

    Then sew buttons to the middle of the head. These will be the eyes of the snake. Choose buttons that are bright and unusual flowers, but they must be combined with the main color scheme of the toy. Also for this purpose you can use black beads, shiny rhinestones or cut circles from felt and sew them on. Cut the snake's tongue into a V shape and use a lighter to melt the edges of the ribbon to prevent them from unraveling. This is how we made a wonderful DIY snake toy; it can also be used as a sofa cushion.

    To make a Snake toy (Fig. 1), you will need 1-1.5 m of fabric, depending on the cutting method.

    You will need:

    - checkered fabric;

    - a piece of red fabric;

    - two beads;

    - long knitting needle;

    - cotton wool, foam rubber or padding polyester.

    Cutting details

    1. Main pattern about 1.2 m long - 2 parts.

    2. Mouth - 2 parts.

    3. Language - 1 piece.

    Operating procedure

    1. Transfer the pattern (Fig. 2) to the fabric and cut out the main part along the grain thread or diagonally (Fig. 3). For a diagonal cut you will need 1 m of fabric, for a straight cut - a piece of fabric measuring 33 x 150 cm.

    2. Cut out the body parts using an 8mm seam allowance.

    3. Sew together the parts of the body. Sew the mouth parts along the straight sides.

    4. Place the front and back halves of the snake's body with the right sides facing inward and attach the mouth to them, also with the front side facing inward. Pin these parts together and then sew them together (Fig. 4).

    5. Sew the body, leaving a hole in the middle for stuffing. Turn the snake right side out and stuff the tail first, then the head (don't stuff the mouth too tightly) and the middle using a long knitting needle. Carefully sew up the hole with matching threads.

    6. Sew a tongue of red fabric in the depths of the mouth, then sew the edges of the mouth so that it is half open (Fig. 5).

    Even children over 8 years old can sew such a snake under the guidance of adults.

    After all, in order to have a furry animal at home, it is not at all necessary to buy it at a pet store. You can acquire a devoted friend, touching and a little, and perhaps cheerful and cocky, by sewing it with your own hands using our instructions and directions.

    Before starting work, carefully read these instructions and operating rules!

    To sew a toy you need:

    ♦ fleece (red, pink, green, yellow, red, white);

    ♦ beady eyes;

    ♦ synthetic filler;

    ♦ needle;

    ♦ threads (No. 40-45);

    ♦ in order not to get confused, you should cut out the parts sequentially, as you work, and not all at once;

    ♦ during operation, you must refer to the diagram that shows the procedure.

    Making a soft toy Snake. Master Class

    In order for the toy to look neat and the seams to be even and not “creeping”, we first sweep away all the details (Fig. 1), then sew them together using a needle stitch (Fig. 2); sometimes we will use a hidden seam (Fig. 3).

    1. From felt you need to cut out the following parts (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

    1, 4 - Torso, yellow rectangle

    2, 5 - Torso, red rectangle

    3 - Torso, green rectangle

    6 - Tip of the tail

    7 - Lower jaw

    8 - Mouth, inner part

    9 - Upper jaw

    10 - Tongue

    2. Sew the colored rectangles (parts 1,2,3,4,5), placing them next to each other long side. Color order: yellow, red, green, yellow, red.

    Sew the tip of the tail (6) to the red part of the body.

    3. Fold the resulting part in half lengthwise and sew it together. Do not sew up part 4 - we will fill the toy with filler through this hole.

    4. Turn it inside out and stuff it loosely. We sew up the hole (part 4) with a hidden seam (Fig. 3).

    5. Making the lower part of the head. We fold parts 7 and 8 with the right sides inward, sew them together, turn them inside out and stuff them loosely with filler.

    6. Making the upper part of the head. We sew together parts 9, unfold them, fold them with part 8 right side inward, sew them together, turn them inside out and stuff them with filler.

    7. To part 8 on the bottom of the head, baste the tongue (10).

    8. Place the top and bottom parts of the head together, pink sides (parts 8) inward. Sew the pink parts over the edge.

    9. Sew the head to the body with a hidden seam. The body seam should be in the middle at the bottom.

    10. Making eyes. We will assemble part 11 on a thread around the circumference, fill it loosely with filler and pull it together. We slightly flatten the resulting ball and sew on a bead. We do the second eye in the same way.

    Sew the eyes to the head. To make it clearer how to sew on the eyes, look carefully at the photo. It is better for the eyes to be close to each other - this makes the muzzle more attractive.

    The snake is ready!

    Such a snake will be an excellent gift for New Year 2013 and a beautiful element of your interior decor.

    In I wrote what we will need throughout the project. Today we need the following materials:

    1. Main fabric 0.54 m wide and 1.5-2 m long (seam allowances taken into account).

    2. Additional fabric for the mouth (can be sewn from the main one) 13 cm by 30 cm.

    3. Non-woven fabric (if you want to make the toy as durable as possible, but not necessary).

    5. Scissors, chalk.

    6. Felt or ribbon size 3 cm wide and at least 13 cm long (this is the tongue)

    Patterns:



    They fit on an A4 sheet, so just print to the width of the sheet. They can be reduced if desired.

    You will need to combine the pattern of 2 heads and 3 torsos (number 2 near the marks). We extend the body already on the fabric to its entire length. Don't forget to narrow the tail of the Boa constrictor. Don’t make the tip very sharp, round it a little - about 2-3 cm. (If necessary, I’ll make a tail pattern).

    On pattern 1 you can see the marks where we will insert the tongue and the alignment mark with the head.

    So, let's select the fabric for the mouth. We immediately rejected the blue and red ones, then the light green one, and decided that we needed to take the pink one. But then the son came up and said with such an important look: “This is not right! You need to take this one! It will do!” And pointed to the yellow one)))


    So we make the inside of the mouth out of yellow fabric. We carefully iron it with a hot iron so that shrinkage occurs.


    Then we glue it with non-woven fabric and cut off the excess.

    We will need 2 of these parts. We mark the middle and the place where the tongue will be sewn in.


    We cut with a seam allowance of 0.5-1 cm. I do this by eye.


    Then we do the same with the main fabric.

    Here you can be original - make the back from bright colored fabric, and the belly from a single-color light one.

    Iron it thoroughly.


    We glue it with non-woven fabric.


    We transfer the 2+3 pattern, extend it along the entire length, narrow the tail and cut it out.


    Today we will prepare the language. To do this, take felt and cut out a tongue 3x13 cm. You can take tape for these purposes.
