A dress is an independent element of the wardrobe. A belt is an important accessory that can radically change your look. If you put on just your favorite dress today, add an elegant chain to it tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow you wear this dress in tandem with a wide corset, then you will get three different, but equally stylistic ensembles.

    Kinds

A belt is a very constructive addition to a dress, capable of decoratively decorating an outfit, complementing an image, focusing on advantages, and delicately hiding flaws. To solve such an impressive volume of problems, a huge number of belts of a wide variety of types, models, designs, shapes, sizes, styles and colors have been created.

Thin and medium, narrow and wide, straight and curved, sash and corset, openwork made of thin leather and a crochet belt for a dress - all of them will help you always look decent.

In wardrobe modern woman For almost every dress there is a belt, the model and color of which can advantageously emphasize and highlight the necessary details and, in general, become the final chord of the entire ensemble.

If the dress does not fit very well, stylists advise adding a strap to it. What if this is exactly the nuance that can correct the situation.

A correctly selected stylish belt looks impressive with the most various styles dresses: short and long, straight and fluffy, sundresses and kimonos, sheaths and shirts.

In order to be able to choose the correct match of the style and color of the dress with the model and shade of the belt, you need to know several rules for wearing a belt, the basics of which have been developed over a long time.

    • Thus, a thin belt has been declared an immortal world classic, suitable for different figures and most outfits.

    • A corset is considered very functional. In addition to the fact that it looks very impressive on the figure, it has the power to flatten the stomach, lift the chest, gracefully highlight the hip line, and straighten the back. In short, to highlight attractive female curves and correct imperfections, discreetly disguising them. Unfortunately, such a virtuoso assistant does not suit every figure.

Women with short necks and torsos will have to look for another way to hide their imperfections.

    • For multi-layered clothing with prints or an abundance of details, preference is given to a solid color wide belt, because a narrow accessory will simply get lost in this variety.

    • Accessories that serve simply as decoration include jewelry, jewelry, silver or gold chains. These are great additions to evening or cocktail outfits.

The combination of a silver or gold chain with a black dress is romantic and irresistible. The classic colors for belts are black and red.

A classic outfit, according to the rules, is complemented by a monochromatic trio: handbag, belt, shoes.

But modern fashion, becoming more and more democratic every day, allows an increasing number of combinations. An addition to the belt can be only shoes, or just a handbag, or it can be a bracelet, a scarf, a neckerchief, or a watch strap. Or it can be an independent element of clothing without any reinforcements. Products in neutral colors - black, beige, brown - can afford this. Or bright accessory can single-handedly attract admiring glances.

There are no strict rules in choosing a belt for a dress. Each ensemble is individual, and only you can choose this important accessory, based on your taste, preferences, features and the role it should play in your image.

How to choose according to your figure?

In order to try to decorate your outfit without ruining it, you need to select a belt model that best suits your figure, style, and image. In this sense, it is easier for owners of a slender, graceful figure. They should pay attention only to the style and color. But women with “extra weight” and “extra weight” have to look for accessories that can magically hide unnecessary “extras” from prying eyes.

So, when choosing the color of a belt to match a dress, you need to clearly define the task that this accessory will solve. The color of the belt under the dress can match the dress or contrast with it.

If the duo is chosen in the same color scheme, the belt does not draw attention to itself, but serves to shape the silhouette. This variation is optimal for women with extra pounds in weight or centimeters in waist circumference. The contrast option is aimed at drawing attention to the waist, as well as visually correcting the proportions of the legs and torso.

If you have short legs, we place the belt under the chest; if there is such a problem with the torso, we lower it onto the hips.

To visually disguise wide waist and protruding tummy, choose clothes with high waist and a medium-width belt worn under the chest.

A wide belt makes your figure heavier, so if you don't want to draw attention to your impressive bust, wear a thin model. This model also visually elongates the silhouette, so it is recommended for those who are “undersized.”

Confused wide hips? A wide, fashionable sash that fits freely at the waist is your best option.

If you have narrow hips and wide shoulders, a dress with full skirt and a belt around the hips.

Original wide accessories emphasize feminine contours and can visually make the figure slimmer.

You also need to be very careful about contrasts. This option is definitely not suitable for well-fed ladies. Even the lucky ones slim figure such a choice is acceptable only after trying on and visual self-assessment.

With the modern variety of models, you can easily choose a product that can decorate your outfit and highlight your individuality, and by following certain rules, you can easily learn how to choose the right belts and create beautiful sets with them.

    Materials

Women's belt is fashion accessory, designed to decorate and diversify our outfit, therefore a wide variety of different materials, from leather and textiles to plastic and metal.

The most popular and practical material is, of course, smooth, soft, delicate to the touch leather. All kinds of varieties, processing methods, textures, shapes, colors make it possible to fill the market with the most unpredictable specimens. Products made from suede, saffiano, and reptile skin always look chic and expensive.

They will argue with leather ones about variety and fabric belts. The soft and pliable material allows you to tie many knots and bows of varying complexity and configuration, which also brings its share of variety to the world of belts. Satin and velvet, chiffon and silk, wicker, knitted, lace accessories made from ribbons and shiny threads, carrying tenderness, femininity, softness and chastity, will not leave romantic dreamers indifferent.

Recently, combined belts have become increasingly popular, for example, made of leather and fabric, plastic and leather, combinations of several narrow straps or a wide one with a narrow one.

    Decor

All kinds of decorative elements make belts unique and inimitable. Embroidery, appliqués, ornaments and patterns made of beads, threads, ribbons, and braid look stylish and relevant. In the pursuit of originality, a variety of materials are used: wood, rhinestones, plastic, stones, shells, metal, fur, fabric, glass.

Everyone is probably familiar with the situation when it is so difficult to choose a belt for any item!

But if there is sewing machine, then this problem can be easily solved))) Sewing a belt is not a difficult task, so even a novice craftswoman can cope with this work.

For the belt you will need:

    • textile
    • rings or half rings for steel belts - 2 pcs.
    • adhesive interlining
    • hard seal
    • ruler, scissors and other sewing supplies

The belt must keep its shape, so it is important to seal it from the inside. For this purpose, hard seals are used, such as a seal for lambrequins, a side seal (it resembles hard thick felt), or thick non-woven fabric, folded several times.

First you need to determine the length of the belt - measure your waist and add another 35 cm.

Cut out a strip of fabric of the calculated length, the width is determined by the desired width of the belt, multiplied by 4. That is, for a belt 4 cm wide, cut out a strip 16 cm wide.

If the length of your fabric is not enough for the entire length of the belt, then you can cut out two parts and sew them as follows: place two cuts perpendicularly and stitch diagonally. Trim the excess fabric from the corner and press the seam on both sides.

Cut out a piece from adhesive interlining that is the width of your fabric piece and 2.6 cm shorter in length. Place the interlining on the fabric, leaving free edges on both sides (1.3 cm each). Using an iron, glue the interlining to the wrong side of the fabric.

Fold the free edges inward and iron.

Fold the workpiece in half lengthwise to determine the middle, and fold the edges of the belt toward the center along the entire length.

Now cut out the part from the hard seal. The width is equal to the width of the future belt (if the seal is quite thick, then reduce the width by 2-3 mm so that it fits inside the belt), the length is equal to the length of the fabric blank minus 5.2 cm. If the length of the seal is not enough to cut out the part, then you can cut it out two and, placing the edges on top of each other, sew the blanks with a zigzag seam:

Unfold the belt blank and place the seal inside it at one edge. We place one end of the seal exactly under the side hem; on the second edge there will be a section for which there is not enough seal:

Fold the waistband in half along its entire length and iron:

Now stitch the workpiece around the entire perimeter with an allowance of 3-5 mm.

Women always try to follow fashion, look beautiful, fashionable and attractive. Through products and accessories, makeup, and hairstyles, the female gender expresses their inner mood, highlight their natural talents and change their shortcomings. Various accessories that craftswomen make even at home most often help create a unique and inimitable image: earrings, watches, belts and straps, chains with cute pendants, bracelets. How to sew a beautiful belt for a dress or coat with your own hands from simple material? Pretty easy.

The dress is perhaps the most important part of women's clothing. Even the most light dress with the help of a belt can instantly create female image fashionable and unusual, add some zest to it. In the world of the fashion industry, there are three main forms of belts: soft, hard with a buckle (strap) and figured.

Do you think a strict leather strap or a hard leatherette strap is more suitable for a boy? Not at all. It's all a matter of how to make it and what to wear it with.

For interesting things creative process required:

    Stages of creative work:

Using a meter, you need to take the main measurement - waist circumference. We increase the resulting number twice. It is also necessary to take into account two cm for allowances and four centimeters for the fastener. Thus, it turns out that the length of the belt = waist circumference x 2 plus 2 centimeters + 4 centimeters. The width of the belt can be any, everything will depend on the model of the dress and personal preferences.

Based on the created dimensions, we will cut out the item. It is worth cutting the belt according to the width of the fabric, since the weave of the material along the thread is more elastic, it will be easier for us to shape the belt.

Now you need to cut out the interlining and attach it to the item.

Non-woven material is a non-woven material with glue on one side. With its help you can add auxiliary density lb material and fix the mold so that the product does not change when worn. The length of this part will be equal to the length of the belt. You can attach the interlining to the wrong side using an iron and remove the excess.

Fold the item in half lengthwise and iron everything.

The belt folded in half with the front side inward will need to be sewn along one short edge and along the entire length along the cut.

Let's slowly turn the thing out on the front side, and sew the last side cut. Then we iron the belt well.

We will manually sew buttons (or another type of fastener) if they are provided in your model.

This belt can be decorated in different ways. Your image can become romantic and festive.

Traditional belts can be made not only narrow, but also wide; it is important not to forget to reinforce them with non-woven fabric. These parts can be secured at the waist using snaps, buttons, Velcro or hooks. Or the belt can be sewn without fasteners, simply tying it. This option is perfect not only for a dress. Decorating these products is a separate part for creativity and imagination. You can decorate them with beads, rhinestones, buttons, chains, cute appliqués and embroidery.

    Wide version, sash belt

Wide sash-style belts, very popular among many fashionistas. IN classic version The most common type is a satin sash, but such a product can be sewn from fabric, leather or suede. This model looks quite elegant and chic. They perfectly emphasize the figure, hide many figure flaws and add an unusual effect to the image. Sewing them is a little harder than soft traditional ones, but it’s definitely worth the effort. The result will fully repay all the efforts.

    • First you need to cut out all the elements of the future belt: two central parts for the product and four elements for the ties.
    • In addition, so that the product holds the mold and did not change while wearing, both central particles will need to be strengthened with a grosgrain ribbon. Its length will be equal to the length of the belt minus 2 centimeters. To calculate the length of the product, the girth of the figure must be divided by half. The width of the item according to the drawing will be two values: in the largest place, and in the narrowest place.
    • The ties should be cut in the shape of rectangles six centimeters wide plus two centimeters for allowances. To calculate the length of the strings, you need to add half the waist circumference and the desired length of the ends.
    • The main thing is to add one centimeter to the seam allowances along the entire perimeter of the product. Below is a diagram to make it easier to cut out the central particles of the thing.
    • After our pattern is completed, all parts of the future belt should be transferred to the wrong side of the fabric and slowly cut out.
    • Next, you need to sew the ties together. To do this, fasten the edges with a pin and stitch along the part. On one side the edges of the ties are slightly rounded. Turn them right side out and iron them a little.
    • Attach the corsage ribbon to the central elements.
    • Place one on the front side from the main parts of the belt, ties. Place the second main piece on top of 1 with the front side facing inward. We fasten them with pins and fix the ends of the ties so that they do not move while sewing. Due to poor fixation of the ends, the entire product can be damaged, remember this when working.
    • It is worth leaving a small part of the stitching, since through it the belt can be turned right side out. And then sew the left hole.
    • At the end of the work, iron the product completely. So we learned how to sew a belt for a dress using a pattern. Conclusion. If you look into this, you can understand that making a belt from leather or other material is not at all difficult, the main thing is patience, the ability to sew and tie some details. Many people do not start their work out of fear and in vain, because it is very interesting and useful. Well, the most main advice for all beginners, follow the master class and general recommendations to work and then you will definitely succeed.

    1. Materials: I chose artificial leather, but obi belts can be sewn from any fabric or leather you like. We will need fabric, a sewing machine, thread, scissors, a pencil for patterns, and a ruler.

    2. Pattern. In order to sew a belt, we need to cut 4 parts: 2 belt parts and 2 ties. On paper I built only half of the belt, the second is symmetrical. The length of the belt is half the waist circumference, the width of the belt is g=bd=7cm, bw=1\4 of the waist circumference, ae=3cm - the width of the tie (the length of my belt is 65 cm, therefore the length of the pattern piece is 32.5). The details of the ties are two rectangles with a width of 8 cm (2 of them are allowances) and a length of 1/2 waist circumference + the desired length of the ends (approximately) 30 cm (the details of my ties are 65 cm). Don't forget to add 1 cm for allowances around the entire perimeter of the belt (dotted line in the drawing).

    3. I transfer the pattern details to the wrong side of the fabric..

    4. All cut parts.

    5. First we sew the belt ties, I pin the edges, then stitch them on the machine.

    6. On one side I round the edges of the ties a little.

    7. I cut the allowance to 2-3mm to reduce the thickness. If the edge of the fabric is very frayed, then you can cut off the allowance less or even leave it as is.

    8. I turn out the ties.

    9. The ties are ready, lightly iron them through a thin cotton fabric.

    10. I place the ties on the belt piece.

    11. Ha-ha, a riddle for those with big eyes: find the belt in this photo :). I put the second part of the belt on top and pin it all together, carefully fixing the ends of the ties so that they don’t run away during stitching.

    12. I leave a small part of the stitching open so that I can turn the belt through it.

    13. I cut off the allowance, turn the waistband inside out, and hem the left hole.

    14. Iron the belt and you're done!
