    raglan shoulder strap knitting, knitting from the neck (top to bottom)

    In one of the knitting communities, I saw a post about a children's sweater knitted using exactly this method. The lady has been knitting like this for a long time, so for her it’s a matter of course, but for me it’s not. I mastered the raglan top a long time ago. In the SM there is a somewhat excellent MK on this subject, but in the raglan-epaulet search, the search returns only posts where this method is used, but how is still unclear (((

    I decided to figure it out... it turned out a little chaotic, but suddenly it’s useful not only for me

    Let's start with the pattern...

    An shoulder strap is something that lies on the shoulder and is knitted not separately, but with the entire product from the neckline.
    Cast on as many stitches for the neck as needed. We divide the shoulder straps into the back and shelves (in front) and between them, what width do you need. On both sides of each shoulder strap we make increases in each row. It turns out not four raglan lines, as usual, but two along the shoulders. In this way we knit to the required shoulder length. Then we knit parts of the back and shelves without adding loops. And we add loops on both sides inside the shoulder strap, which now becomes a sleeve. We add one third of the height of the head of the sleeve in each row, the next third of the height one loop at a time in two rows, and another third we add one loop each both from the side of the sleeve and on the front and back.
    Having knitted the required depth of the armhole, we divide the knitting: we collect the loops of the sleeves on an auxiliary thread. And we continue to knit the fronts and back as with a regular raglan on top. We'll work on the sleeves later.
    The height of the rim of the proposed sleeve must be divided into three parts.

    I came up with a new one the simplest way knitting raglan on top. Or I think I made it up. But I haven’t seen such a method on the Internet. It all started with this picture.

    I took Alpa yarn

    I cast on 72 stitches using the Italian method. The number of loops divided by 4 wedges + 4 central loops. from which we will knit wedges. here is the Italian method and a hollow elastic band

    I'll add it here. To ensure that the collar fits well and does not slip, after the elastic band, we knit the collar 4-6 rows with a hollow elastic band. this will secure and look good. And further. You can take more than one initial central loop of the wedge. and three then the beginning will be more accurate. And most importantly, I don’t specifically write how many meters there are in 100 grams of yarn and what the number of knitting needles is. This is all purely individual. Everyone has their own threads and their own knitting density.

    I never use this information. and I ALWAYS knit a pattern! I knit weakly. so my information will not be useful to anyone

    Divide into 4 parts. mark the central 4 loops.

    17 loops per wedge. Wedge 1 purl, 3 braid loops. 1 purl - 4 braids in total.

    Then between the braids I add 1 more purl loop. Here you can see from the inside out

    A regular braid of 3 loops. remove the first loop with extra stitch. knitting needle We knit the second and third. then we knit the first one.

    We simply knit the next row.

    Then we remove the third loop for additional. knitting needle We knit the second and third, then the first.

    Briefly speaking. wise up. Regular braid. just not 2 on 2. but 1 on 2.

    And twists through 1 row.

    Knitting wedges; Yarn over. central facial. Yarn over We simply knit the second row. twist the yarn overs. so that there is no hole.

    Here is the trick - we make the first yarn over to ourselves. ordinary. and knit it for back wall, twist it.

    And pull the second yarn over from yourself and knit it behind the front wall, twisting it. Then they will look the same on the right and left.

    It could be simpler. do not do yarn overs. and knit them from the broach of the bottom row. between the loops. But raising them is the same.

    the second row was knitted. Third. odd row—we have 3 knit stitches from one of the four wedges

    first front. Yarn over central facial. Yarn over third front.

    knit an even row.

    It turns out that in each odd row we add 8 loops. We knit an even row without increments.

    We knit exactly the same 4 wedges. Any design can be used between them. You can continue with an elastic band. openwork possible.

    for size 44 I knitted about 18 cm. I got wedges with 41 loops.

    I divide all the loops into the front. back. sleeves

    on sleeves about 30 cm. on front and back about 40 cm

    divided into 4 knitting needles on a fishing line

    I got 41 loops + 3 braids for the front and back.

    41+1 braid for sleeves.

    I knit the back about 8 cm separately. This is necessary for the formation of the sprout. so that the collar does not ride up on the front of the neck and does not put pressure.

    We connect the front and back. Between them we cast on 5 loops, another pattern

    Knit down to the end

    We knit a sleeve. Crochet 11 stitches along the back

    We knit the sleeves. decreasing loops after 8-10 rows.

    Ya so as not to disturb the drawing. decreased not along the edges, but along the front panel before and after the drawing

    And I'll show you more. as I pulled in. Between the patterns of 2 purl loops I knitted one. Then vice versa. added. I'll show you the face and back

    I sew the sleeves and collar.

    All is ready.

    Girls. I think I described everything as best I could. This is my first detailed Mk.

    If anything is unclear. ask.

    BUT I’ll write the main thing - Don’t ask me. how many stitches to cast on?

    Every time I knit a sample and calculate it. how many loops are there in a centimeter?

    Each has its own knitting density. And all advice is useless.

    But knitting by description is boring. I decided to come up with my own.

    Yarn kid mohair bobbin. very very thin. Knitted in 12 threads. knitting needles No. 6

    I cast on 64 loops. knitted the collar, then 6 rows with a hollow elastic band to fix the neck

    I divided the loops into exactly 4 parts. 15 loops in each part, 4 central front ones. Noted.

    I knitted about 20 cm. It turned out to be 35 loops of stockinette stitch and 15 loops of elastic.

    We divided the loops like this. on the back 35 loops of the front stitch + 11 loops of elastic on the right and left.. On the sleeves 35 loops of the central stitch and 4 loops of elastic (15-11 = 4 loops)

    I knitted the back to form a sprout in 8 rows.

    Then I connected it to the front (also 35 central + 22 elastic loops) + added 1 loop under the armpits so that the rice would not go astray. rubber bands.

    Finished with an elastic band, knitted 2 rows at the bottom with a hollow elastic band. closed with a needle with a knitted seam.

    I'm showing the wrong side. to make it clearer. how I distributed and knitted.

    I tied up my sleeves. it was too lazy all around. That's why the sleeves are seamed.

    What is the simplicity of the calculation. No need to calculate. how many loops to cast on the front. back. sleeves Stupidly divided into 4 parts. knitted to the armhole. and then began to distribute. You can add loops under the armpits if the size is large.

    My model is perfect. Size 44. Nothing needed to be added

    And the sprout is knitted in the simplest way.

    Instead of an elastic band, you can use any design. braids. openwork. In the center, too, instead of the front surface, come up with a pattern.

    This is the first model. basic. No frills. but the mohair itself is pleasant. good at knitting. so I didn't overload it. Although I really wanted to decorate it with my favorite braids.

    Craftsmen love to knit things that do not require sewing. I knit a blouse and don’t worry about the seams, whether they will turn out smooth or whether there will be waves, puffs and other defects. This is especially bad for a child’s blouse, where small loops immediately catch your eye.

    In this case, raglan is simply irreplaceable, and the product comes out faster rather than waste time on stitching, ironing seams and other little things. The most beautiful blouses for children are knitted blouses, and who else but a mother or grandmother will give a child such a cool new thing. A You can see the recipes for these new things later in the article. Together with diagrams and manufacturing stages, it will be simple and clear.

    A children's raglan sweater requires children's yarn. In any case, these are non-thorny products. Also, special children's yarn is very warm and has hypoallergenic properties. This fiber is very soft and very pleasant to the touch, even if you try it on. The thickness of the thread can vary and here you should rely on your own preferences.

    The desire to get a very voluminous product, then thicker the fiber or knitting several threads
    . A light and openwork blouse is the thinnest fiber for knitting. The color of the yarn does not require restrictions. Can be used dark shades and dilute them with fun appliqués or lace. The most bright colors- Kids love them very much.

    The choice of knitting needles is the size and model. The size is selected depending on the thickness of the thread. Right size knitting needles are usually printed on the instructions for the yarn - this is the size recommended by the manufacturer. For raglan, circular knitting needles are most often used, but you can also work with long stocking needles. Someone even got used to knitting such a large product on three long knitting needles.

    Sample

    When knitting, a pattern is a small square or even a rectangle, according to which the knitter counts the stitches. A ruler is applied to the row horizontally and the number of loops in 10 cm is counted. This will be the density of the pattern and it is indicated in loops per 10 cm. Vertical and also 10 cm and here is often designated as rows. For example, 10 cm and so many rows there. Thanks to the density, you can analyze how many loops there should be in which place.

    In raglan, when knitting from top to bottom, several sizes are determined:

    • neck (along the circumference of the neck with additives for a loose fit according to the model);
    • length of the product (calculated by the length of the knitting needle plus elastic for the blouse and additional extension);
    • the length of the sleeve;
    • width of the elastic band (around the circumference of the hips).

    It's better to draw a small pattern raglan and mark the measurements first in cm, and then convert them to loops. On the same sheet you can sign how many and how to add loops so that it is very smooth.

    Raglan with arans for girls with knitting needles on top

    A stunning and quite colorful pattern of aran sweaters is knitted at the top. The model is intended for a child 1-2 years old with a detailed description.

    To work you will need:

    • children's yarn 5 skeins of 50 g each, red;
    • knitting needles number 3 (circular and additional);
    • additional knitting needles for aran knitting.

    Gate

    We cast on 33 loops and knit a 1*1 elastic band exactly 6 rows.

    In the last row you need to add the missing loops.

    Raglan

    For the sleeves, braids were used in the center and stockinette stitch on the sides. On each side there are 5 front loops, a pigtail according to the given pattern for each sleeve. For raglan seams, only 16 loops are needed (4 for each of the 4). For it, use a braid of 4 loops in the center, and there will be yarn over loops on the sides (to expand the product).

    The back shelf is a continuous stockinette stitch. The anterior one contains aranas. For them, in the center of the canvas, this diagram will be useful.

    Aran rapport is 20 loops, there are two purl loops on the sides, then three knit loops, one purl braid number two from the braid pattern (of 6 loops). Again one purl stitch and a stockinette stitch of 10 stitches. Here is a frame around the aran.

    Raglan will not immediately be able to accommodate all these patterns, so with the addition of loops, we gradually add a pattern according to the presented picture. As a result, then simply facial loops in the canvases begin to be added. The length of the raglan is 30 rows. You can change it at your discretion.

    Front and back

    Knit the front and back in one continuous cylinder. In the meantime, the sleeves will wait on additional knitting needles. Knit the required length (in this model it is 50 rows) and switch to a 1*1 elastic band. Work 6 rows of ribbing and cast off the rows.

    Important! The big secret to making an elastic band elastic is to close the loops directly on it. The last row is done not with yarn, but with elastic thread. Just don’t tighten this elastic thread too tightly.

    Sleeves

    The sleeves are also knitted in the round, but unlike the back and front, they will need to be slightly reduced. To do this, in every 6th row you will need to close two loops. It is better to knit both loops from the inside of the sleeve. Knit to the required length (in this model it is 45 rows from the raglan) and switch to 1*1 elastic. Make 6 rows and bind off the loops. Knit the second sleeve in the same way.

    The product is ready and you can decorate it with a small applique or decorative button.

    Raglan knitted sweater for boy

    The cutest model for a boy. The simplest and most accessible patterns were used. Each pattern has a pattern. Even a beginner can handle knitting. Therefore, we put circular knitting needles in our hands and begin the first set.

    To work you will need:

    • children's yarn 250-300 g;
    • knitting needles number 3.

    Gate

    For size 68 you will need to make a cast-on for the neck of 60 stitches.

    Use 1*1 rib to complete 10 rows and make small increments in the last row. Next, mark the raglan loops with markers.

    Raglan

    Immediately begin after the neckline by adding at the four marked points for the raglan. At the same time, a different pattern is knitted for each part:

    • for sleeve garter stitch, braid pattern and garter stitch again;
    • for the front front, 24 stitches in the middle in garter stitch, and on the sides in stockinette stitch;
    • For the back, the stitch is completely stockinette.

    The length of the raglan is 25 rows.

    Front and back

    Knit front and back whole, in the round. Without changing the pattern of the canvas. You need to knit 60 rows down. Then switch to elastic bands. Again 1*1 and again 10 rows, bind off the loops.

    Sleeves

    Do not change the fabric pattern and knit the sleeves in the round as well. Knit to a length of 50 rows and move on to rib - 10 rows with 1*1 rib. To decrease stitches, use the last 20 rows. Decrease 2 stitches in every fifth stitch. Do the same with the second sleeve. Close the loops and the product is ready.

    You can knit a small hat with a pompom from the leftover threads and use it to decorate a sweater.

    Very beautiful products will not take much time. Therefore, it is worth tying your child with the most best model, which will warm his body and soul. Let your baby feel from an early age how much you love him.

    This method of knitting originated in the 19th century and has not undergone major changes since then. Raglan is a sleeve that is integral with the shoulder and does not require stitching.

    There are plenty of methods for knitting raglan on top. It is not difficult to find diagrams and models on the Internet, as well as video tutorials dedicated to this method.

    Raglan on top: advantages and disadvantages

    To learn, it is not necessary to have experience; the main thing is to have knitting needles with you and carefully follow the instructions. Raglan has many advantages, which encourage us to invent new ways of creating it:

    • the product is easy to remake in case of an error;
    • Product fitting is possible at any stage;
    • no need to assemble the product.

    Is it true, There are also some disadvantages:

    • the choice of models is limited;
    • It can be difficult to work with so many stitches at once.

    The latter suggests that for beginners raglan may not become best start and discourage the desire to continue knitting. Something simpler will be suitable for them, but for confident knitters, raglan will be a good discovery.

    Let's start knitting

    Now we will look at it in detail using several examples. knitting raglan with knitting needles on top. Models with diagrams are easy to find on the Internet.

    In the first example, we will choose a classic men's sweater, which will be an excellent holiday gift and will warm the owner on a cold winter night. But before we make plans, let's talk about what you can’t do without when knitting a sweater, namely:

    • yarn - we recommend purchasing about five hundred grams, but a lot here depends on the size of the product;
    • knitting needles (6.5) straight for knitting;
    • auxiliary knitting needles (6.5).

    When knitting, it doesn’t hurt to refer to patterns– this will help you visualize correctly and avoid making stupid mistakes. You can always correct the error, but it will take extra time, so we advise you to focus on the result.

    Before you start knitting it won't hurt Briefly familiarize yourself with existing patterns that will be involved in the process:

    • double elastic;
    • braid;
    • balloons.

    Each of them provides individual equipment and each will be found on our sweater.

    Detailed instructions (men's sweater)

    After all the materials have been purchased and the necessary information has been studied, we can start:

    1. First of all we will tie the back part. Here we will immediately need one of the above techniques - a double elastic band. We cast on ninety loops and knit five rows using this technique, after which we move on to the elastic band in the 2:2 format. It differs from a regular elastic band in that its main pattern is two knit stitches and two purl stitches.
    2. Taking into account the features of the model, we proceed to the formation of the raglan itself. To do this, we retreat about fifty centimeters from the edge and close the loops (1x3) on both sides. Next, be careful: in every second row, after the first 3 and before the last 3, we decrease the loops (22 × 1).
    3. Having knitted the back part, we move to the front. It is in it that it is involved a large number of patterns, which can be difficult for beginners. Having again collected ninety loops, we knit four rows with the same double elastic band, after sixteen loops with an elastic band in a 2:2 format. Now again, be careful because the rules are changing. Now you need to knit forty-two loops with the purl stitch, ten stitches with the front stitch and again forty-two with the purl stitch.
    4. As soon as we reach the sixteenth row, we begin to act according to two schemes. Half of them are knitted according to the first, the other half - according to the second. The first scheme is as follows: we remove four loops (the thread should remain before work) and make two purl loops. Following the second pattern, we again remove four loops and make two purl knots. Reaching the forty-second row, we do the opposite: first we knit according to the second pattern, and then according to the first.
    5. We knit the front part. Having reached the seventieth row, we knit forty-two loops with purl stitch, six with knit stitch and again forty-two with purl stitch. On the seventy-sixth and eighty-fourth rows, we cross the six loops located in the middle to the left side.
    6. We reach the eighty-eighth row and again turn to the diagrams. The rules are the same: one half is knitted according to the first pattern, and the other half according to the second. We knit the middle with an elastic band in a 2:2 format. According to the first pattern, we remove four loops and make a purl knot, then, following the second pattern, we make another purl knot and remove four loops. All this time the thread remains in front of the product. We knit another row in this way, then proceed in the same way, but instead of one purl knot we make two. After a row, a loop is added that needs to be removed (so now we are removing not four, but five loops). The next row will be the same, but in the row after there are changes again: now instead of five loops we will remove six. And don't forget about the sleeve lines. We should get about sixty centimeters, after which we set aside the remaining loops.
    7. Now it's the turn of the so-called balls. Here's how to knit them: on the left knitting needle you knit a knit stitch, a knit stitch crossed, a knit stitch, a knit stitch crossed and another knit stitch, after which five purl stitches are knitted on the reverse side. We turn the product over again and make five more purl loops. We repeat this process twice, after which we turn the workpiece, knit five stitches together with the purl ones, turn and remove the loop on another knitting needle.
    8. Let's move on to the sleeves of our sweater. Here we use two knitting methods: double rib and 2:2 rib. We will need forty-six loops. We knit the first five next to each other with a double elastic band, then smoothly move on to another method. We retreat seven centimeters from the edge of the set and add loops (14x1) in every seventh row. Having stepped back fifty-two centimeters from the edge, we finally form the raglan, closing the loops on both sides (1x3). In each 2nd row we decrease the loops (24x1) located after the first 3 and before the 3rd at the end. We put aside the loops that remain after seventy-six centimeters.
    9. Our men's sweater almost finished. The last part remains: all the loops need to be assembled. Once this is done, all that remains is to sew the individual parts together. The gift is ready!

    Knitting a women's blouse

    But that is not all. We've already knitted a men's sweater and it's time to change direction a little. Let's try to knit something that would suit a representative of the opposite sex, a woman. We chose a blouse for a girl. She will become a good gift for your child and will turn the girl into a real little princess!

    In order to knit a blouse for a girl with raglan on top, we need:

    • yarn (no more than three hundred grams);
    • knitting needles (3.5).

    We cast on sixty-eight loops and begin to create. All rows will be knitted with knit stitches. As in the previous case, we brought detailed description knitting process:

    1. We knit the first two rows with facial loops. Having reached the third row, we make a buttonhole from two loops. Next, remove one loop and make a knit stitch, cast off two loops.
    2. Turn the product over and cast on three loops. Turn again, pull the loop from the left needle through the loop on the right, then return it to its place and knit a knit stitch.
    3. We knit four more rows with front stitches, after which we knit the fifth row with purl stitches, excluding the first six and last six loops.
    4. Gradually, raglan threads will be connected to the process (3+3+2 loops from the back). Only part of the loops is knitted, the rest are not used.

    Rostock

    A special feature of this blouse for a child is the presence of a so-called sprout. For a child who has not reached three years old, you can do without it. If you really want to, you can still tie it, but then the length should not exceed one and a half centimeters. Process description Its knitting pattern is given below:

    We have finished knitting our sprout. It turned out to be about two and a half centimeters in length. And further we are returning to normal knitting mode.

    Let's learn how to knit raglan sweaters from the top, quickly and beautifully.
    The threads can be anything, either plain or sectional, depending on your taste!
    My strings are like this

    I will knit for my 9 year old son

    First you need to calculate the loops for the neck -
    1-knit a sample and count how many loops are in one centimeter, I have 2.5 loops per 1 cm
    2-then we measure the neck, in the place where the collar is planned, for me it is 28 cm
    3-now we make calculations for the sprout (I say right away, girls, don’t be scared, this is necessary!!!)

    With a knitting density of 2.5 loops per 1 cm and a neck circumference of 28 cm, you need to cast on 70 loops on the knitting needles. (2.5 x 28) Each raglan strip consists of 2 loops. The remaining loops are divided into three equal parts - back, front, sleeves.
    For me it is 62: 3 =20+20+22

    We divide the resulting parts into 20 front, 20 back and 22 sleeves, which means 11 loops for each.

    But our neckline is deeper on the front than on the back, so we need to make an adjustment.

    1) so that the sleeve is not wide, you need to narrow it by 1.5 cm, while increasing the back and front. This means we multiply 2.5 (density) by 1.5 = 3 loops, which means that only 8 loops need to be added to the sleeve. and the front and back will become wider by 3 loops, so the back will be 23 and the front will be 23

    2) the sleeve loops are knitted in four steps and by the time all the sleeve loops are knitted, the number of back and front loops should be the same. To do this, it is necessary to take into account the loops that are added along the back of the raglan lines. For example, if the loops of each sleeve are knitted in 4 steps, then 4 loops will be added to each raglan line of the back, which means the number of loops on the back will increase by 8. Therefore, you need to calculate so that at the beginning of work the front is wider than the back 8 loops. In my example, you need to subtract 4 loops from the number of back loops and add them to the front loops.

    Then I will have 19 loops on the back, and 27 on the front.

    4-now you can knit, starting to cast on loops on the back, knit back and forth, gradually adding loops, I have 19 stitches on the back,

    then loops on the raglan - 2, be sure to yarn over before and after the raglan loops!!!

    then we move on to the sleeves, gradually adding 3,2,2,1 for me (we distribute the loops in descending order and in 4 steps!!!)

    again loops on raglan - 2,

    then add loops on the front 1,1,1,1,2,3 and central 9 loops. (We distribute the loops in increasing order and in 7 steps!!!)

    The whole sprout is knitted, now we knit it in the round.

    We knit the yoke to the height of the armhole, you can apply it to your blouse, you can measure it, but then you will need to distribute the loops on additional knitting needles.
    Important!!! We knit one row by making yarn overs between raglan loops, we knit the second row by knitting this yarn over, i.e. together from the wrong side of the row

    I got 18 cm to the armhole, now we leave the sleeve loops on separate knitting needles

    and like this on the model

    How many centimeters to knit raglan can be seen in the table, but it is still advisable to try it on a model in order to know exactly how much to knit to the armhole!!!

    Knit to the desired length

    I'm switching to rubber bands

    when the elastic band is connected, we begin to close the loops according to this video

    I did the same in pictures
    I just knitted the first loop of knits, then the trace goes from the inside out, in front of it we make a yarn over from ourselves

    knit a purl loop

    pull the yarn over through this loop

    then we pull the first knit loop through purl

    trace of the loop of faces, in front of it we make a yarn over to ourselves

    knit a knit loop

    we stretch this knitted face through the yarn over

    then we pull the loop remaining from the first pull through the knitted loop

    and so on all the loops..

    and like this on the model

    Let's move on to the sleeves:

    we throw the loops onto the stocking needles (to knit without a seam, in the round), tie a thread and lift the loops in the resulting seam so that we don’t have a hole, I got 4 additional loops

    then we need to cut them down, through a row

    this is how the path will turn out

    http://tamica.ru/page/kalkuljator-ravnomernogo-dob...li-ubavlenija-petel-obnovilsja
    Or you can calculate it yourself, I really don’t know if this is correct, but I do it myself (the main thing is that it turns out):
    1) we need to count how many loops there are on the fishing line, after decreasing additional loops 66p
    2) then we measure the sleeve to the bottom 28cm and you can immediately subtract the length of the elastic from this length 4cm = 24cm
    3) measure the wrist 15 cm, multiply cm by the number of loops in 1 cm -2.5, we get the required number of loops on the wrist 38p
    4) from the loops on the fishing line we subtract the loops on the wrist 66p - 38, we get how many loops we need to remove 28p
    5) divide the remaining length of the sleeve by the number of loops on the wrist and get after how many centimeters we should decrease the loops, convert them into rows of 24 cm: 28p = 0.8cm and it turned out that after 3 rows we need to make decreases (rows of decreases are also counted)

    We knit the sleeve to the desired length, switch to elastic and close the loops in the same way as on the body of the sweater.

    knit the second one in the same way

    Now let's move on to the collar:

    tie a thread anywhere, on my back, in front of the sleeve and start casting on loops
