    I decided to write a post here, maybe it will be useful to you)
    I did silk strengthening all summer, 3 months, and I want to recommend it to everyone)
    How it all began? I've grown enough long nails and decided to somehow protect them so as not to break them; one already had a crack. I was thinking about gel coating, as an option for biogel. But I decided that silk wins over these methods. Simply because you don’t have to cut it down later.

    The procedure is quite labor-intensive. Special fabric is cut first on the smile line, then on the entire nail, all this is filled with special glue, filed, and polished. All this takes approximately 4 hours. As a result, the nail almost does not thicken, it looks perfectly straight, in two months I grew a free edge equal to the nail itself, went to the sea with it, broke several nails in a water park, but only the glue broke, the silk kept the nails intact, I glued everything with regular nail polish glue and it took quite some time. I'm very pleased with the result. Honestly, this method has some advantages. My polish now lasts as long as I want (I couldn’t keep it on for longer than a week and washed it myself), I practically don’t need to take care of my nails, I don’t need to file them, no nicks or cracks appear on them. Silk is almost invisible, even on unpainted nails. And even more so under varnish. The first month I used acetone-containing nail polish remover and rubbed off the glue a lot, the second time we covered my nails with a thin layer of gel, but it flew off from my thumbs and index fingers in the sea after two days, the rest have been in perfect condition for three weeks. The gel shines unrealistically and you don’t have to paint your nails at all. I began to wipe off the polish from nails with the gel flying off with an acetone-free liquid, and the glue did not become any thinner.
    In the future, if I glue silk again, I won’t cover it with gel.

    I advise you to use the base, because... silk may become stained.
    I removed the nails myself, buying a regular acrylic solvent. The nails were not damaged in any way, they were just a little thinner from polishing. Didn't peel or break.
    I recommend it to everyone! In the first photo there are 3 layers of varnish to mask the glue damaged by acetone. It can be seen that it has grown a little since the correction.

    here the nails are without varnish at all, and their last days life, after that I cut it off. My index finger is bent and looks ugly. Because of the flash, the imperfections of the nail are clearly visible, but in life it looked like a French manicure, much neater and more natural.

    This is probably closer to the truth

    But the nails are already without silk, and have grown out; in the upper part you can see the transition from the sawed-off part to your own nail.

    P.S. Predicting questions, why do I need SO long ones? I was going to participate in the filming, they needed nails of 3 cm, I grew 2.8 and gave up, refused. I realized that I didn’t want to walk with such a nightmare anymore and cut them off.

    Silk nail extension, despite the name, they are made not only with silk. Flax or fiberglass - a special fiberglass - can also be used. Silk is a thinner material than its other competitors, but it is less resistant to water.

    Design Possibilities

    Fiberglass. Its feature of fiberglass is its glow when exposed to ultraviolet rays. This is why fiberglass extensions are preferred by lovers of discos and nightclubs.

    Texture of fabric on nails. The client is offered pieces of silk and linen of different textures to choose from. You can also choose the color of the fabric.

    If such nail modeling options are not satisfactory, you can make almost any other design that is used with other methods.

    Advantages of silk extension technology

    • Silk nails do not peel off or chip.
    • They look natural.
    • Silk extensions are cheaper compared to other methods.

    By itself silk nail extensions don't do it often. It is usually used in conjunction with gel, placing a piece of fabric between the layers of gel. Silk impregnated with gel adheres tightly to the tips, thereby giving the nails special strength, which the gel method is sorely lacking.

    As a result, nails can be decorated with stones and rhinestones even at the most “extreme” length. Silk under the gel is practically invisible, and if you cover your nails with varnish, it is not noticeable at all.

    When to get silk nails:

    • If you don’t want to spoil your nails with extensions, but they need to be repaired or strengthened, as well as smooth the surface or hide defects

    • Injured or bitten nails, when other methods of extension simply will not work

    • Too well developed nail fold

    • Too small nail bed

    • “Extreme conditions”, when it is urgently necessary to repair a broken nail

    • Allergy to acrylic

    • Habit of biting nails

    • Brittleness of natural nails

    Contraindications to silk nail extensions

    Silk nail extensions have fewer contraindications than other methods. With gel hand extensions, either injured nails interfere with the extension or are even prohibited - in the second case, not a single master will even take on the job. But silk extensions for clients with these problems are not only possible, but also useful.

    Silk nail extension allows air to pass through, thereby not interfering with natural nail development.

    Silk nail extension technology

    Silk nail extensions They are made only on tips - they are not suitable here.

    The procedure takes place in several stages:

    1. Natural nails are prepared for the procedure: degreased, filed and trimmed
    2. Special glue is applied to them.
    3. A piece of silk is placed on the glue.
    4. The fabric is leveled with an orange stick over the entire surface of the nail.
    5. Excess fabric is cut off with nail scissors.
    6. An activator gel is applied.
    7. The nail is “dried” under a UV lamp
    8. The master shapes the nail.
    9. Then comes sanding and design.

    This method of extension usually takes less time than others. But, if the work is particularly labor-intensive, the procedure will take up to 4 hours.

    Correction

    Correction for silk nail extensions is necessary once every 3-4 weeks. When you first apply nail extensions, your nails grow faster, so corrections need to be done more often – twice a month.

    Removal

    After silk extensions, unlike gel extensions, artificial nails do not need to be filed. It is enough to use a special solvent.

    Save so you don't lose!

    Many ladies spend a large number of time to care for your hands. This is especially true for nails. What beautiful young ladies don’t use to give them the necessary length and create natural beauty. The use of various cosmetic preparations, nourishing masks and restorative therapeutic baths - all this is used.

    But there are situations when a nail or several at once can break. However, you shouldn’t despair right away. There is a very simple and effective solution - silk for nail repair. It will help you easily and quickly solve the problem, and you can do it yourself and at home.

    Restoring a broken nail

    It happens that a crack occurs closer to the middle of the nail plate, and not at the edge. This can not only be uncomfortable, but also cause painful sensations. In this case, removing the nail will be very painful and also unsafe. You need to give the nail time to grow at least a little. To do this, you need to strengthen it and seal it.

    Repairing your nails with silk will only take a few minutes. And if you already have some skills in this matter, then the process will speed up much. The result can last for about a week. It will be possible to perform these manipulations again before it becomes possible to trim the nail at the fracture site.

    Often ladies use silk fabric to get rid of the fragility of their nails. This is achieved by applying several layers of glue and silk, which makes the plate harder, minimizing its breakage.

    Step-by-step recovery process

    Now let’s look at the diagram itself on how to repair a nail with silk step by step. Repairs are made using it nail salons, where qualified craftsmen can handle this in a couple of minutes. But you don’t always have the time and money to turn to a professional. In this situation, you can help yourself.

    First you need to prepare the tools:

    • The main “ingredient” is silk for nails;
    • Glue with a special bio-composition. The standard kit usually comes with adhesive that is not very good good quality, so it would be preferable to buy it separately;
    • Don't forget about the anti-adhesive compound. It will come in handy if you suddenly glue your fingers together or apply bioglue incorrectly;
    • Manicure scissors;
    • Files or buffs of different abrasiveness. 120 and 220 grit are suitable;
    • Disinfector is a means for disinfecting and degreasing the surface of nails. It eliminates severe drying, so the nail becomes normal after half an hour.

    In addition to silk, linen and fiberglass are also used. The first type of fabric is used in rare cases. This is due to its rough texture, which does not go well with the claw. Fiberglass is slightly more popular than linen, but still inferior to silk fabric.

    It is better to purchase the material in rolls with a sticky paper base. In order to achieve desired result, the price of the fabric including glue should not be less than 100 rubles. This will allow you to repair your nail with silk more efficiently.

    Let's study step by step instructions on how to use silk to repair a broken “claw”:

    1. It is necessary to prepare the broken part of the plate. To do this, make a few light movements using a cuticle file towards the free edge. This will help smooth out the edges of the crack and get rid of the surface shine. Then you need to degrease with a disinfectant;
    2. Cut the required amount from the fabric roll to cover the resulting crack. It happens that the material suddenly runs out. Therefore, it can be replaced with a regular medical fabric plaster. But it should not be rubberized so that the nail can breathe. Tea bag paper is also suitable, which can be used after shaking out the tea leaves;
    3. Treat the broken area with a small glue strip and place a cut-out piece of “rag” there to fit the size. Place it flat on the surface using an orange stick;
    4. When the glue is completely dry, remove any excess. To do this, use a nail file to process the resulting tubercle, making the plate smooth. This will hide damage when applying varnish;
    5. After repair, cover all the fingers with a textured varnish with shiny or small sand particles. This will help hide all the irregularities and strengthen the adhesion of the fabric and glue to the crack. You can disguise the location of the breakdown with a rhinestone or some other designer item.

    You should not repair a nail with silk if the breakage causes damage to the skin or bleeding from the wound. This can only do harm. Therefore, contact a specialist immediately.

    Scheme for strengthening nails with silk

    By similar technology Nails are strengthened with silk if the plate is particularly thin. Artificial nails will last longer than natural ones. This is due to the difference in thickness. If you are not a supporter of the extension process, then this procedure will come in handy for you.

    To do this, you need to follow these simple steps:

    1. Remove shine using a nail file;
    2. Align the silk piece with the nail bed and cut out the desired shape;
    3. Disinfect and degrease the plate;
    4. Apply a glue strip to the nail and attach the cut fabric;
    5. Trim the edges with an orange stick;
    6. After the glue has dried, polish the surface with buff;
    7. Cover with a layer of varnish.

    The procedure must be performed several times a month. This will help strengthen and grow nails that will not break or crumble.

    Extensions using silk fabric

    Silk is not suitable as the main material in this process due to its softness. But it will serve as an excellent substrate for gel or tips and will help speed up the extension.

    • First, you need to process the plate with a file and degrease it;
    • Glue on a strip of silk. Once dry, stick the tip to the end of the free edge of the fabric;
    • At the last stage, the surface is sanded and the joint is treated with gel or acrylic.

    The process of strengthening or building up can be easily done at home, without going to studios or salons.

    Where to buy and how much it costs

    You can purchase silk fabric for repairs at any specialized manicure store or on the Internet. The cost depends on the form of release - in strips or rolls, as well as on the length. On average, one set costs 100 rubles. At the same time, other tools can be sold either separately or together with silk fabric.

    Long strong nails- the dream of many girls who care about the beauty of their hands. In order to grow your nail plates Sometimes it takes up to several weeks to reach the desired length. But nails, due to their structure, tend to crack and break. What should you do if, after waiting for the moment when you can get the long-awaited manicure, a crack appears on your nail? The answer is simple. Use silk to repair your nails!

    Silk is called soft natural fabric, which is created from threads obtained by weaving fibers from the cocoon of the silkworm. The fibers are a combination of fibroin 75% and sericin 25%. Fabric made from natural materials, is thin but very durable. Therefore she is considered the best material for nail repair. Let’s take a closer look at how to repair a nail with silk.

    In manicure, silk is used in the following cases:

    • cracks on the free edge of the nail;
    • cracks in the nail covering the nail bed;
    • with a broken piece of the free edge natural nail;
    • when an extended nail is chipped;
    • to strengthen brittle and thin nail plates;
    • as a material for nail extensions.

    Nails become cracked or broken if they do not receive enough nutrition or become weak from frequent procedures building up. For the purpose of repair, as well as strengthening of nails, silk is used, which acts as a protective coating for the nails and prevents further destruction of the plate.

    Silk is a kind of flexible spacer between the glue and the nail. If you seal the cracks only with glue, the nail will quickly crack again, since glue is a hard but fragile material.

    A nail technician can fix a broken nail in just 10-15 minutes. But this procedure is so simple that it is worth trying to do it yourself. This is especially true for those women whose nails are weak and brittle. After all, the material purchased for repairs will last for a long time.

    Working with silk for nail repair can be reduced to several simple steps:

    1. Treatment of the nail plate, in which the broken edges are smoothed out (sharpened with files).
    2. Gluing a piece of silk to the nail at the crack site.
    3. Grinding with nail files the junction of the edges of the fabric and the nail plate (elimination of irregularities).
    4. Application of transparent (strengthening) or decorative varnish.

    If extended nails or chipped natural nail plates are being repaired, gel polishes or acrylics are additionally used. To have a better understanding of the nail repair procedure, you can watch video tutorials on this topic.

    Bioreinforcement

    Recovery brittle nails Plates with cracks and delamination are carried out using fibroin and polyurethane-based bio-coating.

    This procedure is called bioreinforcement.

    The combination of these two materials gives the nails rigidity and strength, and also imitates the thickness of the natural nail plate. After bioreinforcement, you can apply a decorative coating to the nails or leave them as is.

    Silk for nail repair is practically invisible, as it blends in with the natural shade of the nail plates.

    Before performing bioreinforcement, the nail plates are prepared in a certain way: polished with a buffer and lubricated with a primer (degreased). Next, a biocorrector is applied to the nail, and a pre-prepared piece of silk the size of a nail plate is placed on top.

    After the silk is saturated with biogel, the coating is dried in a UV lamp. Repeat with all nail plates. At the final stage, the nails are once again coated with a biocorrector and dried in a lamp. If desired, you can perform a manicure with your favorite design.

    Silk nail extensions

    In addition to restoring fragile or broken nails, silk is used as a material for extensions. Other fabrics can be used to create artificial nails: fiberglass, cotton and linen.

    It should be noted that fabrics are soft materials and cannot create artificial nail required hardness. Therefore, during the extension procedure, silk is impregnated with a special composition.

    But even in this case, extended silk nails are much inferior to technologies that contain gel or acrylic. Therefore, such a manicure is rare, and silk is more often used as an element to create gel or acrylic nails.

    Silk for nails in sets and other materials for nail repair

    Silk intended for working with nail plates can be purchased in rolls with a sticky base or in the form of blanks in the form of nail plates. It is best to purchase nail repair kits, which include all the products and tools for a complete procedure.

    It is included in the kit:

    • soft nail file or buff;
    • silk for nails in a ribbon or cut to fit the nail plates;
    • disinfectant liquid;
    • glue.

    A 240 grit buff or file is designed for polishing the nail plate. This procedure is necessary in order to clean out all irregularities: chips, delaminations, roughness or sharp edges of a crack in the nail.

    The disinfectant liquid will neutralize the nail plates from pathogenic microflora. An infection that has entered a nail crack may begin to actively develop after repair, so this stage is necessary.

    The glue has a soft plastic structure and does not harm the nails. If glue gets on the skin during the repair process, it can be easily cleaned off with an orange stick or needle.

    What can you replace silk with:

    • In addition to silk, two more fabrics are used to repair and strengthen nails: fiberglass and linen. Of these, preference should be given to fiber. This is an artificial moisture-resistant fabric. It is made using a special weaving technology, so it is very durable. Like silk, it is produced in rolls with an adhesive base. The principle of working with fiber is similar to silk material.
    • Cosmetics liquid silk for nail repair can instantly restore a damaged nail. It contains microfiber fibers that create a strong polymer network on the nail plate, protecting it from further destruction.
    • Nail reconstruction kits may contain powder instead of fabric. It is applied to the glue and gives it special strength and elasticity. Preparatory and final work on repairing a nail with powder is carried out in the same way as with fabrics.
    • You can quickly seal your nail using a paper napkin and regular polish. This option is emergency and can last no more than 1-2 days. IN in this case paper napkin acts as a cushioning, fixing material between two layers of varnish.

    Silk for nails separately and in sets can be purchased in cosmetics stores or ordered on specialized websites on the Internet. In reviews of silk nail repairs, the most common brands are Bohema and Silk Linen Wrap.

    Price overview:

    • Bohema silk, set of 12 strips - 100 rubles;
    • Silk Linen Wrap in a roll 3*300 cm—460 rubles.
