How to make a New Year's toy from a light bulb
1. Before you start decorating the light bulb, you need to degrease the glass surface for better adhesion to the primer. Take a cotton pad and moisten it with grease remover and wipe the light bulb. When the light bulb is dry, cover it with a layer of decoupage primer.
2. While the soil is drying, cut out the elements you like from a decoupage card or napkin
3. If you are using a napkin, remove the bottom two layers of paper. If you have a decoupage card, then the paper needs to be made thinner. To do this, turn the elements over, moisten them with water and, using the hard part of the sponge, carefully wipe off the underside of the motifs (the excess thickness of the paper will roll up and be easy to remove)
4. Now you can coat the light bulb with a second layer of primer and create a uniform texture for subsequent decoration. Using a small piece of sponge, which needs to be dipped into the soil, cover the entire surface of the light bulb with short, frequent movements. To make it convenient to dry the product, you can tie a piece of string to the light bulb socket and hang it from it while drying.
5. After drying again, you can begin to decorate the light bulb with prepared motifs. First decide where exactly they will be located. Then lubricate the underside of the cut out element and glue it in the desired place. Using a damp soft brush, level the surface of the paper so that the motif fits tightly to the primed surface.
6. Glue the remaining two motifs in the same way.
7. Having dried the product well, we proceed to further decoration. Take the ceramic outline and extrude it a small amount of onto the palette. Dip a piece of foam into the bronze outline and make a few test strokes on the palette to remove excess paint. And only now start covering the light bulb with bronze.
