Very soon New Year's parties will begin in kindergartens and schools. Some mothers go to the store and buy ready-made carnival costume, others sit down sewing machine. AND new Year costume For a child, something made with your own hands can be much more original and exclusive.

Today we are visiting a mother who sewed a bright and unique New Year's costume for her son - Lyubov Shulga and her son Valera in the Brownie Kuzi costume.

Lyudmila happily agreed to tell me how you can sew such a costume for a child yourself. New Year. But first, a little story about choosing a suit. Why Brownie Kuzya?

“Our dad came up with this costume: I thought for a long time about what original costume to come up with, I went up to my husband and asked, and he without hesitation: “Kuzya, brownie.” With a little thought and effort, this image came out.

Children's New Year's costume Brownie Kuzya consists of 3 homemade items and white tights.

    Shirt

The shirt was sewn according to a pattern from a magazine, only I made a stand-up collar and replaced the clasp with a placket with one button.

    Wig

I sewed a hat from knitwear, you can take a ready-made one ( summer bandana). Starting from the bottom, I sewed two layers of yarn onto the hat.

The third is in the center, distributing the yarn to the left and right.

    Lapti

The bast shoes are woven from bias tape bought in a store. I pulled a linen elastic band over the sole of the sandals, and a second elastic band along the ankle above the clasp (secure with paper clips). Then I pulled the edges of the binding by the elastic band and secured it with threads. First I sewed the bindings on the heel, then intertwined them at the front to form a bast shoe shape.

In my master class I showed how to create a clothing pattern for a brownie. Now I will show you how to cut it out and sew it.

Let me remind you that this master class is for a doll that is still headless. If you have a doll with a head, then you need to process the fastener on the shirt. I will not consider this in this master class.

So, take the fabric and fold it in half. Lay out the pattern as shown in the photo and trace with a pencil. I had a marker so that I could see it more clearly, so I circled it immediately adding to the seams.

Then turn the pattern over in a “mirror image” and trace it too.

Pin the fabric and cut it out. This is what you should get.

    We process the neck.

Cut the required piece of ribbon or braid, attach it as shown in the photo, and pin or baste.

    Stitch it up.

Then cut the ribbon or braid as long as your neckline and stitch it into a ring.

Now stitch the “ring” of braid to the neckline. You can baste first.

This is the neck we got.

Sew the side edges and finish the seams with a zig-zag stitch or overlocker.

Use a closed hem stitch to sew along the bottom of the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt.

The shirt was sewn. Let's move on to the trousers.

Open it up. Fold the fabric in half, place the pattern on it and trace. Do the same with the second leg, as in the photo.

    Cut it out.

Place the two pieces face to face and stitch the two “seat seams.”

Unfold the panties and sew a crotch seam. These operations can be swapped. It doesn't matter, it's just more convenient.

Finish the top of the panties with a “closed hem” seam, but in such a way that you can then insert an elastic band there.
I didn’t hem the bottom of the trousers, I just tousled them.

These are the clothes I got.

And this is a ready-made doll with clothes and a head.

Thank you for reading to the end. All the best!

From the popular animated film, three characteristic details are provided: a bright long shirt, disheveled hair and bast shoes. All elements of the costume can be made from scrap materials.

    Brownie shirt

For sewing a shirt, a bright fabric with a simple pattern is best suited: for example, crimson red with white large polka dots. The fabric is cut on the basis of a rectangle constructed according to individual measurements: its width is equal to the measurements of the width of the chest with the addition of 8-12 cm for a loose fit; the length of the panel is determined independently, depending on the desired length of the future shirt. If desired, you can cut out two small wedges that will be sewn into the sides of the shirt and give it some volume, characteristic of vintage clothing.

The sleeves are cut out from two rectangular pieces of fabric of the required length, taking into account seam allowances. The edges of the sleeves can be left raw, with threads deliberately sticking out, or you can hem the edge and thread a soft linen elastic band into the resulting seam.

The neck of the shirt is decorated either with a small rectangular neckline, which is subsequently given a rounded shape using small folds, or with the help of a semicircular neckline, decorated with a low stand with a large button sewn on and a style patch. As finishing touches to the shirt, you can sew on it several casually made patches from fabric of contrasting colors and textures.

    Hairstyle

To create the characteristic disheveled hairstyle of a brownie, an old unnecessary wig is suitable, the length of which is adjusted to right size, using a comb to create the effect of tangled hair. The hairstyle is fixed with varnish or other long-lasting styling products.

If a ready-made wig is not available, then it can be made from bright yellow or straw-colored yarn. A knitted cap or bandana in neutral shades is used as the basis for the wig. It should be taken into account that the base fabric will show through the wig hair, so you need to choose the appropriate color for the cap material.

Along the circumference of the base, yarn of the required length is sewn in two layers with invisible stitches, forming a parting in the center of the future wig. If the hairstyle is not voluminous enough and the base material is visible through the threads of yarn, sew on another layer, carefully distributing the “hair” on both sides of the parting.

    Lapti

The easiest way to create an imitation of bast shoes is to use long narrow strips of linen fabric, sewn crosswise onto fabric slippers or Czech shoes. You can sew ties from the same fabric onto the shoes, which are used to wrap the shins, imitating onuchi.

More complex production of bast shoes involves the use of ready-made bias tape or satin ribbons that are used to braid sandals. To do this, two elastic elastic bands are attached to the shoes in the area of the sole and the fastener on the ankle, which fix the edges of the intertwined ribbons.

For the legs we take white fabric or We sew completely from white fabric and then tint (coffee, tea) the upper part.

Transfer the pattern to the fabric.

We chop off the details with pins.

We make it on a sewing machine. The length of the stitch is 1.5.

Sew the parts along the contour.

We sew all the parts of the head together, leaving a small hole for turning.

After stitching, we make small cuts, so the head will be smoother.

We cut out the parts with zig-zag scissors if there are any, if not, you can also make small cuts.

Turn inside out using a stick or knitting needle.

We stuff the arms, legs and torso not very tightly, leaving a little space for easy stitching. We stuff it tightly into the head, so it turns out smoother. We highlight the lower part of the iris with white paint and add highlights.

We take brown paint, make a contour around the eyes, draw eyelashes, outline the eyebrows and mouth.

We tint the area around the eyes with pastel crayons, rouge the cheeks and nose.

We're not sewing the head on yet!

Now we need to “dress” our brownie.
We transfer the shirt pattern onto the fabric, folded in half, and make seam allowances of 0.7 mm.B

Secure with pins and cut out.

We transfer the panties pattern onto a dark fabric folded in half. We cut the parts two at a time together in one piece. We sew pants without allowances.

Set the stitch size to sewing machine by 2.5.

Sew the upper shoulder sections. Don't forget to leave holes for the neck (2.5-3 cm).

We bend the edges of the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt, and pin them together.

    Let's make a line.

We pin and make side seams.

We make small cuts with scissors so that they don’t tighten.

To prevent crumbling, we process the edges with zig-zag scissors.

Turn the shirt inside out and sew on the button.

    Sew the side sections.

We chop off the step sections and stitch them.

    Don't forget to make cuts.

    Turn it inside out.

We put on the panties and make pleats on the front.

We turn the cut side inward, chop it off and manually sew it to the body.

We hem the bottom of the panties (pull it together, turn it inward and sew it with a hidden seam).

    The pants are ready.

Now we knit bast shoes for our Kuza from twine. We cast on 7 loops on the knitting needles, knit 20 rows and close.

    We knit two identical rectangles.

We bend 1/3 of the rectangle, sew it on the sides, slightly grabbing the corners to make the bast shoes round.

Turn it inside out. Pull it in a circle.

We put it on the leg and fix it.

We do the same with the second bast shoe.

We tie the legs with a piece of rope.

We sew the head to the body with a hidden seam.

Now our Kuzya is almost ready, only the hair is missing.

We wind the yarn around the book, not too thick (book size 22*14.5 cm).

Carefully remove it onto an A4 sheet.

And use a sewing machine to place a seam exactly in the middle.

To be safe, we go over this seam two more times so that our brownie’s hair is strong and does not fall out.

We lay a line in the middle of one of the halves, also twice.

Next to it, we lay another line the width of the foot, also twice.

Cut the edges. It should look like in the photo.

    Cut it again.

    We remove the paper.

    Cut thin strands in half.

Sew the first strand to the bottom of the head. Next, the remaining three strands are sewn at a distance of 2-3 mm from each other.

    Our Kuzya is ready!

    Where's my big spoon?

If desired, you can put a “Bag of Happiness”, a chest or a small broom in Kuzka’s hands.

What to wear for a child New Year's party? What can I do to make it look bright, unusual and original? Try offering him a brownie costume. Made based on the famous cartoon, it will definitely attract the attention of others and help create a festive atmosphere. is effective and recognizable. It is characterized by certain elements of the outfit made from scrap materials.

Brownie costume. Start with a shirt

So, let's make a brownie costume. First of all, you need to sew a shirt. Bright fabric with a simple print is suitable for its manufacture. For example, catchy red material with large white polka dots. You need to cut the fabric based on the rectangle you built according to individual measurements. Its width is equal to the size of the chest with the addition of ten centimeters for a loose fit. The length is determined individually, depending on your desire. You can also cut out two small wedges. By sewing them into the sides of the shirt, you will give it the extra volume that is typical of vintage outfits.

The sleeves are cut from two rectangles of the required length, taking into account the seam allowances. The edges can be hemmed and inserted into an elastic band, or you can leave them raw, with threads sticking out. The neckline is designed with a small rectangular cutout. Using folds, it will subsequently be given a rounded shape. However, you can immediately make the neckline semicircular with an overlay placket and a large button. As a finishing touch, the brownie costume can be complemented with several casually made patches of material of contrasting textures and colors. That's it for the shirt.

    Hairstyle

Kuzi's brownie costume, of course, will require a corresponding "hair". In order to create a characteristic disheveled hairstyle, you can use an unnecessary old wig. Its length is adjusted to the required size, and the effect of tangled hair is created using a comb. All that remains is to fix the hairstyle with hairspray or any other long-lasting styling product.

If you still don’t have a wig, try using brightly colored straw or yellow color. As a base, take a knitted hat in a neutral shade. Don't forget that the fabric will show through the "hair" of your homemade wig.

Along the circumference of the base, you must carefully sew yarn of the required length in two layers. A parting is formed in the center of the future headdress. If the base material still shows through the threads, or the hairstyle is not full enough, sew another layer of yarn, carefully distributing the “hair” on both sides of the parting.

    Shoes

When making a costume, don’t forget about the bast shoes. The most in a simple way Their imitation is the use of long narrow strips of linen fabric sewn crosswise onto dance shoes or cloth slippers. You can also sew ties from the same fabric to your shoes. By wrapping them around your shin, you will imitate onuchi. You can, however, choose a more complicated method. In this case, use satin ribbons or They are used to entwine slippers or sandals. To do this, two elastic elastic bands are attached in the area of the sole and the fastener on the ankle. They will fix the edges of the ribbons intertwined with each other.

    Everything is very simple

In a word, making a New Year's brownie costume is not at all difficult. All you need is a wig or yarn and so-called bast shoes. By the way, they can also be simply crocheted into a double thread. You can also sew them from lining material, quilted with squares on synthetic padding. Finally, a nine-centimeter wide strip is sewn around the circle. Recesses are made along the leg. A ribbon is sewn to the back.

Don’t forget also that Kuzma also had a chest with fairy tales. It can be made by connecting two plastic packaging, crocheting the resulting structure with red yarn. Or take cardboard box, add convex parts made of plasticine to it, cover with brown paint and varnish. However, you can take a small wooden chest or casket.

    General impressions

Naturally, your baby and everyone present at the party will definitely love the brownie costume. Photos and videos where you can capture him in such an interesting image will delight the baby and you for many years. He will happily get used to this role, quoting his favorite phrases from the funny famous cartoon.

By the way, if you haven’t found a suitable material for a shirt, you can apply white polka dots to the red fabric using a stencil. You can paint it with white paint. Don't forget also about buttons, which can be used as decorative elements. You can also decorate your “hairstyle” with a small bow. In a word, making such a costume is quite simple. You don't need a lot of experience. A sewing enthusiast even with little experience can make it. But the child will have a lot of emotions, don’t doubt it at all!
