    If you need stretch jeans, no need to worry. Of course, it is easier to prevent jeans from shrinking than to restore their size, but nothing is impossible.

    There are even a few ways to help stretch stubborn denim. When using any of them, be careful: too much force will lead to the fact that the trousers will simply tear, especially if the fabric is too thin.

    How to stretch jeans after shrinking

    There are 4 ways to help you slightly increase the width of your jeans:

    "Aerobics". The essence of the method is simple: you need to get into your jeans, button them and move around a little. Sit down several times, lift your legs one at a time, and make circular movements with your hips. All this will help turn denim into a more pliable material, and the trousers will fit perfectly.

    Wet your jeans. In the 80s of the last century, fashionistas and fashionistas took a bath right in their new skinny jeans to increase their size. Today, such sacrifices are not worth making, especially since even high-quality branded trousers can slightly stain the skin and water, and this is harmful. But it won’t hurt to wet your jeans a little with water. The easiest way is to use a spray bottle, into which you need to pour either regular warm (not hot!) water, or water mixed with a special fabric softener. After that, put on your pants and do the same “aerobics.” This way you can stretch your jeans a little. Don't stay in them for too long to avoid health problems.

    Ironing. Iron your jeans thoroughly using the steam program and then put them on. Be careful: let the trousers cool down a little so that your soft skin was not covered in burns. A hot iron will help soften the denim and straighten out any excess wrinkles, so your jeans will fit easily. Again, “aerobics” won’t hurt.

    Extender. If you are thinking about how to stretch your jeans at the waist, purchase a special extender. Using it to increase the width of your belt is very simple:

    • wet your pants and zip them up;
    • insert the expander into the belt, fix it and gradually increase its size;
    • act carefully, using maximum caution;
    • Having reached the desired width, fix the expander and let the jeans dry;
    • The waist will become wider and will remain so until the next wash.

    If your jeans are a little shorter, it's harder to stretch them. To do this, you need to wash them by hand in cold water and remove them from the bath wet. Then take some laces or a soft belt and thread it through the belt loops. After this, tighten the waist area and secure the jeans so that you can pull them straight up the legs. Every half hour or hour, go to your trousers and stretch them until they are dry.

    All this needs to be done at least 24 hours before you plan to wear jeans. The point is that it is dense denim dries very slowly, so you may simply not have time to stretch your jeans by the required time.

    How to prevent jeans from shrinking

    To avoid having to frantically think about how to stretch your jeans, follow these simple recommendations when washing:

    1. Be sure to read the label on your pants to prevent possible shrinkage. As a rule, jeans are washed by hand in warm water or in a machine, setting the wash cycle to delicate.

    2. Use denim detergents . Ideal if they are liquid. If you can't find anything suitable, you can use regular powder. Just make sure that it does not contain aggressive substances: bleach, chlorine stain remover, etc.

    3. To prevent shrinkage of jeans from becoming your main problem, it is better not to twist them in a drum and do not put expensive trousers in the dryer.

    4. If you want to dry your jeans faster, hang them over an empty bowl where the water will drain, and run your hands along the legs a couple of times, “driving” the moisture down.

    5. Do not soak jeans in very hot water. It is optimal to use water for this purpose at a temperature no higher than 30 degrees .

    6. It is better to iron denim when wet.

    Choosing a new thing: will new jeans fit?

    It’s easy to find out in advance whether new jeans will shrink. Enough to study denim composition: The more cotton, the higher the tendency to shrink. In addition to cotton, there is usually polyester, which increases the strength of the product, and lycra (spandex or elastane), which gives elasticity.

    To successfully choose jeans, you need to pay attention to the quality of tailoring and the fabric used by the manufacturer. Good material It has sufficient density and is made of twill weaving. In this case, diagonal stripes run across the surface of the denim from bottom to top and from left to right.

    Only the longitudinal thread is dyed, while the transverse thread remains with its characteristic color. This is why the underside of jeans is light blue or light gray.

    Modern jeans do not shrink much, since everything good producers carefully treat the fabric before sewing. True, recently trousers made from raw denim have come into fashion, which shrinks significantly during the first wash. However, here too the companies took care of their customers: on such models The size is indicated “before” and “after” washing jeans. All you have to do is pay attention to it.

    Now you know how to choose the right jeans and what to do if they need to be stretched a little. Use these proven methods and your favorite ones fashion trousers will highlight all the amazing advantages of your figure!

    Let's look into your closet: how many jeans are there that have become too tight to button up? We think that a lot. But among them there are also expensive ones, made of good denim. How to increase the waistband of jeans quickly and without taking a long time to remove the top?

    You can increase the size of jeans without much difficulty; you do not need to have a sewing machine to do this. Of course, you won’t go to a cool party in these jeans, but for work or a trip to nature, to the countryside, they will be very useful. So, we will make inserts from fabric, leather and knitwear. Knitted inserts are a good option for pregnant women if you need to expand your jeans in the waistband and hips with your own hands. Denim clothes, and in particular pants - this is something that will always be popular.

    Many denim trousers become small after washing in hot water. How to widen jeans waistband? You can, of course, do this using an iron and steam or stretching wet jeans on yourself. But all these methods are appropriate only before the first wash.

    After each wash, you will have to do this stretching every time - you will be tired of stretching. We propose to solve this problem - to embroider the belt by 3-4 cm. We will need a piece of fabric similar to the fabric of jeans. It is better to take fabric with stretch. You can use leather or suede.

    To work you will need:

    1. Jeans.
    2. Scissors.
    3. Threads match the color of those used for stitching on jeans.
    4. A sheet of paper, a felt-tip pen.
    5. Tailor's pins.
    6. Centimeter.
    7. Ruler.
    8. A piece of fabric or leather.
    9. Thin piece of soap - draw a pattern.

    So, we increase the jeans according to our size. We measure our waist and the waistband of our jeans. We determine how many centimeters of fabric need to be added for comfort. If your denim trousers have a loop above the side seam, you need to undo it.

    We make a cut above the side seam with scissors. You can hem the side seam and cut only the waistband. It all depends on how much you need to enlarge and embroider skinny jeans. Next, fold a sheet of paper, place it under the belt and trace the wedge with a felt-tip pen.

    The result is a paper wedge pattern. Place a piece of fabric and trace the pattern with soap. We take a ruler and, stepping back 1 cm from the intended line, use a ruler and soap to trace the pattern again.

    Then use an iron to press the hem inward, like this.

    We combine the sections of the belt and the wedge, bent by 1 cm. We pin it with pins.

    If there is a loop left, sew it above the side seam. That's all. We hope you find our master class “How to widen your jeans at the waist and hips” useful.

    This is what the finished jeans look like. If you put a strap on top of the belt, the wedge will not be noticeable.

    How to increase a jeans size? Try sewing a small insert made of leather or suede; soft eco-leather will also work. This is what the leather insert looks like. As you can see, everything looks very neat. First steam the belt loop and sew it on again at the end of the work.

    How to increase the size of jeans if they are too tight in the waistband? A good option- inserts made of knitwear or stretch fabric. This option is suitable for both pregnant women and those who like to wear jeans at home. An insert made of thick knitwear can be supplemented with a wide elastic band inserted into the drawstring at the top. The waistband can be cut from an old garter belt.

    To work you will need:

    1. Jeans.
    2. 2 pieces of jersey (use an old turtleneck).
    3. Threads to match the color of jeans.
    4. Scissors, needle.
    5. A centimeter, a piece of soap.
    6. Sewing pins.

    A very simple modification that does not require much effort. For such an alteration it is not necessary to have a sewing machine, just a needle and thread in the color of jeans.

    We measure the waist with a centimeter and write down the number. Using scissors, cut a piece of trousers down to the middle of the burlap pocket.

    Fold our knitted piece in half. The front one should be on top. The insert should be double - then the drawstring will hold well at the waist. Place the cut piece on the knitted piece. Add the missing centimeters. Don't forget about seam allowances.

    We pin the jeans and the insert with tailor's pins. We measure the entire waistband with a centimeter (keep in mind that knitwear stretches). If everything is satisfactory, we sew in the insert and sew the seams so that the fabric does not fall out.

    As you can see, everything is very simple. You can make a drawstring along the top of the insert and insert a piece of wide elastic.

    Many people have encountered the problem of tight trousers, but not everyone knows that denim can be successfully stretched, and you can make your favorite boyfriend jeans or jeans of a different model larger if they are made of pure cotton or with a small percentage of synthetic fiber (no more than 30%).

    Sufficiently dense materials (primarily classic denim) have stretching resources due to the structure and weaving of the threads. Skinny stretch trousers made of elastic thin fabric increasing by half a size or size is almost impossible.

    So, if you missed the size when buying new jeans in an online store, washed your favorite pants unsuccessfully, or gained a little weight, you can try to solve the problem by using the appropriate technique suggested below.

    Problem areas

    If your jeans become too small after you wash them, don't worry. In most cases, the item can be returned to its previous condition. The exception is stretch jeans with a high synthetic content if they have been washed high temperatures, as a result of which the elastic threads were greatly deformed and lost their properties.

    After washing, jeans may shrink in both length and width, or only in width. The most problematic area is the belt, which makes it difficult or impossible to fasten your pants. Tight-fitting stretch trousers often become noticeably shorter after the first wash, and this should be taken into account when purchasing.

    Dry mechanical stretching

    The easiest way to stretch out skinny jeans is to put them on and actively move and wear them out. This method works if there is slight shrinkage of trousers made from cotton fibers after washing. Dried tissue simply “shrinks” and can be easily returned to its previous state.

    In the first few minutes physical exercise you will feel discomfort from tight clothes, but in the future the fabric will stretch a little, and the pants will fit exactly to your figure again. The arsenal of suitable exercises includes squats and bends, bicycle exercises, lunges, and leg swings.

    Wet stretch

    When considering ways to stretch jeans at home, you should pay attention to the universal recipe. It helps if:

    • the pants shrank wide after washing;
    • The pants I bought were initially too small;
    • the jeans have stretched and need to be “shrinked” to fit your figure.

    Fitting trousers according to the figure using the “wet” method has been practiced since the years when jeans began to become fashionable everywhere. It is important to choose the right day and place - a warm apartment without drafts, the presence of hot and cold water in the tap, the hostess does not have jeans inflammatory diseases and other ailments, since staying in wet clothes can aggravate them.

    Stages of wet stretching:

    • Put on your pants; if they are tight at the waist, try fastening them while lying on your back - this makes things much easier.
    • Fill the bath with water at a comfortable temperature (warm, but not hot, so as not to damage the fabric) and sit in it with your jeans on.
    • Wait a few minutes until the fabric is completely saturated.
    • Stand on the bottom of the bath, drain the water and wait until most of the excess moisture drains from the fabric.
    • In the room or kitchen, perform a set of exercises so that the material stretches and fits your figure.
    • Remove wet pants and hang to dry away from direct sunlight and heat.

    This method effective, but has a number of disadvantages - it will not help increase the length of the legs, during exercise the fabric stretches at the knees, staying in wet clothes is uncomfortable.

    Stretch the belt

    If the purchased jeans are a little tight at the waist, or the trousers do not fasten after washing, you can resort to using a special device - an extender (the official name is a waistband extender). This device is used in the studio; if necessary, it can be purchased for home use.

    To increase the waistband of your pants by one size using an expander, you should:

    • measure the circumference of your body in the place where the waistband of your pants falls, add to the result required amount millimeters;
    • moisten the material from which the trouser waistband is sewn with water from a spray bottle or a wet, clean cloth;
    • fasten the zipper and button on the jeans;
    • insert the expander inside the belt so that the button falls in the middle;
    • gradually expand the device to the selected mark using a special mechanism;
    • leave the jeans to dry - the expander is removed after the fabric has completely dried.

    A piece of board or slats of suitable length will also help to stretch your jeans in the waistband at home.

    Local stretch

    An iron or steam generator will help to correct unevenly shrunken pants in local areas. Hot, humid air helps straighten deformed fibers.

    To stretch jeans at the hips, steam the fabric for about 10 minutes to allow the fabric to begin to relax. Then, without waiting for the item to cool down, put on your jeans and walk around in them for about an hour. This will allow the pants to quickly stretch over your figure and lock in shape. This method will also help stretch the jeans in the calves.

    Increasing the length of the legs

    You can stretch jeans in length after discovering that they are short in different ways, but in all cases it all comes down to the mechanical effect on the damp fabric. Therefore, before the procedure, the trousers should be washed or simply wet.

    Pants legs stretch if:

    • Stand with your feet on the ends of your trouser legs and pull your trousers up with all your might, grabbing them at the waist. The procedure is repeated several times intermittently until the material is dry.
    • Tie the jeans to a radiator or other object that is firmly fixed to the wall or floor with a rope passed through the loops in the belt, and pull the wet trouser legs with all your might.
    • Throw wet jeans over the horizontal bar and stretch the legs with your weight.

    Another method is to lay wet jeans on an ironing board, cover them with gauze to protect the fabric, and iron the legs while stretching them. Heat and moisture will help the threads straighten, and mechanical stress will force them to stretch as much as possible. This method allows you to increase the length of your trouser legs by 2-4 centimeters.

    Sewing machine

    If your favorite jeans have become noticeably small, they can be modernized by choosing the appropriate material for decorative inserts. The fabric should be combined with denim in color and texture. Sewn-in stripes will help to widen the trousers (you will have to rip the trousers along the side seams and in the waistband); short trouser legs are lengthened due to decorative cuffs.

    Jeans care

    Denim tends to shrink if the temperature conditions are incorrect during washing or the item is not dried correctly. Before washing your new pants, check to see if they are machine washable and high spin. Hand or delicate is recommended machine washable and drying away from heat sources and sunlight.

    If you find that your jeans have shrunk at the waist, hips or calves, or have become a couple of centimeters shorter, you can take steps to stretch them. But the effect will disappear after washing - you will have to stretch the item again.

    Often people are faced with a situation where their favorite thing does not fit. Sometimes they get upset and go on a diet. But most often the cause is improper washing of the pants. Let's consider how to stretch jeans in the waist and length at home? This is very important, because no one wants to part with their favorite thing.

    If the pants are made of poor quality material, they may shrink completely. IN best cases things sit on the belt, so fastening them becomes problematic. Products with stretch are most susceptible to this. Before buying a tight item, you should take into account that it may become shorter. Before using the method, you should try it on an inconspicuous area.

    Is it possible to stretch jeans several sizes?

    All models are boiled before being placed on the counter, so after washing they become small. Also, the trousers may not be the right length. You shouldn’t buy something that doesn’t fit or that fits tightly in the hope that it will stretch. It's better to buy a size larger right away. The proposed methods will increase female and men's jeans, but not by much.

    How to prepare the material?

    Before stretching, you should carefully inspect your pants. You need to check that the fabric is intact and that there are no stitched tears, abrasions or dirt.

    Usually a new item is soaked for this purpose. You should prepare a basin, liquid soap, simple shampoo or conditioner. You may need towels, nails, and an iron. Zippers must be fastened, slits and button fasteners carefully sewn.

    How to stretch jeans with your own hands?

    Denim is a stretchy fabric, so going up a size is usually possible. It is resistant to damage, which minimizes the risk of spoiling appearance things.

    There are quite a few methods - this can be the use of an iron and a spray gun, wetting, mechanical stretching. You can achieve widening and lengthening of trousers.

    In the belt

    Spraying is the fastest and easy way. To use it you will need:

    • water;
    • spray;
    • large mirror.

    It can only be used if the fly is fastened. When the pants don't even fit around the waistband, more serious methods will be needed.

    Step-by-step algorithm of actions necessary to widen your jeans in the waistband:

    1. Put on pants, spray the area with a spray, take it from both sides.
    2. Carefully pull up, then sit down.

    Repeat the steps until the trousers are fastened. Apply better water warm temperature, wetting the back and front parts with it.

    You can also take a bath without taking off your jeans. The method can hardly be called pleasant, but it is effective. The fact is that correct fit and fastening is hampered by the fact that they are not fully stretched over the legs. To use the method you will need:

    • bath;
    • towel;
    • water at a comfortable temperature.

    Algorithm of actions:

    • Spread a towel next to the bathtub so that you can immediately move to the floor.
    • Pour enough water to completely sit down. The liquid should cover your legs to the waist.
    • Wait until the jeans become wet.
    • Bend your knees, grab the waistband and pull up your pants. Moving around in the bathroom will help ensure they fit well.

    • Get out of the water and sit on a towel. Move, stretch one leg at a time. You need to get your pants to start fastening.

    • If discomfort remains, you should sit down and do lunges. Exercises will help make your jeans stretch different sides.
    • Do not remove them until they remain slightly damp.

    • Remove and dry flat in a warm room. Do not put them on the battery - the size will become the same.

    The method was used in Soviet time- it was difficult to get completely matching jeans. You should pour shower gel or foam into the bath. This makes a cotton item stretch better, which increases the effectiveness of the procedure.

    An iron is used when trousers are fastened, but causes discomfort. The result will be insignificant.

    Algorithm:

    1. Turn on the steam mode, after adding water.
    2. Pass along the waistband on both sides.

    The fabric will stretch in width, after which you need to put on jeans and perform several exercises. If there is no steam generator, you should take a small piece of gauze or cotton. Dip it in water, apply it to the desired place, iron it. The action produces steam.

    How to lengthen jeans?

    It is best to sew on a piece of fabric or leather fringe. If this is not possible, you should use a method that requires:

    • centimeter;
    • small nails;
    • warm temperature water.

    The method is not easy, but if you don’t want to use needles and threads, it will do.

    Algorithm:

    • Measure the length of the trousers when dry.
    • See how many centimeters the item needs to be enlarged.

    • Hold short jeans in water, squeeze thoroughly.
    • Take small nails and carefully nail the belt to the surface.

    • Measure the required centimeters from the waistband and nail the trouser legs at the heel area.
    • Wait until completely dry.

    You can use the cargo. To do this, put wet trousers on the floor, stand on the upper area with your foot, and pull the trouser legs up.

    You should not attempt to stretch with your own hands in areas of holes, damage and cuts - this will cause harm to the item.

    In the hips

    You can quickly and easily increase the waist and hip size of jeans with a spray bottle. Algorithm for its use:

    1. Moisten the fabric in the area required for stretching using a spray bottle.
    2. Fasten all the buttons and insert the device inside.
    3. Slowly move until the mark reaches the desired value (it is important to take measurements to get an accurate result).
    4. Wait a few hours until the item is completely dry.

    You can make a solution to increase the width:

    • water at room temperature – 5 l;
    • ammonia - 3 tbsp. l.;
    • vodka – 1 tbsp. l.;
    • turpentine – 1 tbsp. l.

    Mix the ingredients and leave the pants for half an hour. The method is suitable for thick cotton fabric.

    In the calves

    Bathing in a bathtub with jeans is suitable for this purpose. If you don’t want to use the method, you can first soak your pants, and then put them on and start charging. You should pour a little conditioner into the liquid to make the item pliable and soft.

    It is much easier to enlarge stretch fabric, but at a very hot temperature They cannot be there, as elasticity will be lost. You can also spray specifically on the calf area or thighs.

    If your jeans are too small, you should do the following:

    1. Before washing, use powder specifically for a specific type of fabric.
    2. Exchange for a larger size in store.
    3. Walk in new tight trousers around the house. If they are of high quality, they will stretch and fit to your figure.
    4. Sit for a day on kefir or vegetables. Excess water and centimeters in the waist and legs will go away.
    5. Rip the item apart at the seams and make inserts inside.
    6. Let the trousers be worn by a person who is slightly larger in size. The main thing is to present the request tactfully.

    • not suitable for the cold season (danger of catching a cold);
    • after such a bath, pants can only be dried in air, using an electric dryer or other thermal device they will sit down immediately.
