You can work real miracles. However, you cannot do without special cutters, jigsaws, chisels, saws, drills and other tools.

To do wooden dog hanger, You will need a board, a file, sandpaper, small nails, paints and a little imagination. If you are making a product from a raw board, then you first need to sand it and give the edges a beautiful rounded look with the tools at hand. You can cheat - and instead of a board that you will definitely have to process to make the base, you can take an old cutting board, which is perfect for ours. Cut out the shape of the base (trunk of the dog) as shown in the picture.

Then make two ears and a tail from the same board. Drill four holes in the base with a drill and place round cylindrical blanks there, which will serve as hooks for clothes. Then you need to paint the craft with any colors of the rainbow that you like. Now the ears and tail are nailed with small nails to the frame, and the hooks are fixed with glue or the same nails. After assembly, treat the entire craft with varnish so that it will please you and your guests for a long time.

Make original wooden fish souvenir not so simple as it might seem at first glance. However, I think you can do it well. First you need to draw a sketch of a fish on the board. Between the various elements of the craft, you need to leave small gaps of 0.5-1 cm in order to simplify your work on cutting out details. After the sketch is made, using a jigsaw, you need to cut out all the details of the craft. Then they should be processed with sandpaper and cutters to give a rounded and smooth shape to the product. Now you need to make holes in each part so that you can thread a rope or chain through them that will connect the whole craft. Be careful when making holes in the wooden blocks - choose thin, sharp drills so as not to split them. You can even initially, after cutting with a jigsaw, do them so that the work on processing the bars is not wasted when splitting the wooden part. It remains only to drill a hole in the shape of an eye and connect the elements of the fish together with a rope. Original and stylish, and most importantly made by hand. Do not forget to cover the finished product with a special varnish so that it will last you as long as possible.

While searching the Internet for something that I could do with my own hands from wood, and then tell others about it, I came across, in my opinion, amazing author's crafts. These are real works of art, handmade from wood. However, so far all my attempts to do something similar have not been successful. But I do not lose faith in my strength, and I hope for other visitors and authors of articles on this site who will be able to do these crafts with their own hands and tell everyone about it.

Making fish from wood is not particularly difficult. Linden is suitable for this purpose, the wood of which is straight-grained, non-porous and easy to process.

As a sample of the “fish”, you can take the type common on the Oka River (village Kuzminskoe). It was introduced by some local fisherman and has practically justified itself for a number of years.

To make such a “fish”, a piece of wood measuring 25 X 25 X 80 mm is required. From this piece they cut out with a knife or a chisel, and if possible, they grind a round cigar-shaped body of a “fish” on the machine, blunt at one end. On one side of this round cut, along its entire length, a piece of wood is cut off by 1/5 of the diameter.

The cut plane on the remaining 4/5 of the segment will serve as the belly of the “fish”. Then, at the blunt end of the “fish” body, retreating 24 mm from the edge, an oblique cut is made in the form of a groove from the back to the abdomen (plane).

After that, the “fish” is cut into three parts: the first (head, with a groove) should be 34 mm long, the second - 24 mm and the third (tail) - 22 mm. On all three parts, it is necessary to make lateral (counting from the back to the abdomen) sections: in the head part - from one end, in the middle part - from both ends and in the tail part - from one end. These cuts will make it easier and better for the fish to play. A metal plate measuring 1 X 3 X 32 mm with holes at the ends is driven into the middle part in the center, and one end of the plate needs to be sharpened so that it fits into the wood more easily. In the head and tail parts, in the formed cone, a transverse groove with a section of 3x4 mm is cut in the middle so that a plate with wire rings can freely enter it. The plate is put on two wires with rings made on them, after which the wires are tightly twisted. The plate should move freely in the rings.

Then one end of the wire is pierced along the head part, the other - tail. In this case, you should try to ensure that the wire in the tail part passes through the center, and in the head part (starting from the center) it comes out closer to the back at the head. At the protruding end of the wire (in the tail), a ring is made on which a hook is put on. After that, the wire is twisted. In the head part, only a ring (eye) is made for grabbing with a loop. The wire passed through the "fish" must be fixed in the wood, otherwise it will spin.

An additional leash of two knees is attached to the head ringlet (earlet): the first is from the eyelet to the edge of the plane, the second is from the edge of the plane to the lock; the lock is bent from steel wire and driven into the plane of the head part closer to the joint. A hook of the desired size is put on the ring of the second knee, but already “fish”. Having finished connecting and rigging the “fish”, it is painted in the desired colors.

A lock for a leash with a hook is necessary because it makes it possible to keep the fish not on the “fish” (this would be the case if the hook was attached to it tightly), but on a leash; from this there will be fewer gatherings and the “fish” will last longer. The finished “fish” and its equipment should have the form shown in fig. 86.

I have been doing woodcarving for a long time, and I have been fond of fishing for even longer. Therefore, most of my carvings are connected precisely with my first hobby; they are mainly on the fishing theme.

Here are some of my wooden fishes:

This bream is a decorative dish for serving smoked fish. It can be hung on the kitchen wall for decoration.

And this is what the other side of the dish looks like.

There are similar decorative dishes in the form of pike and perch.

And these are photo frames. You can insert a photo in them, which shows the angler with his fishing trophy. I think that many amateur fishermen would like to receive such a gift for the day of the fisherman or just for his birthday. There are similarly made frames in the form of a perch.

And this is a carved box in the form of a bream.

This is what it looks like open. In such a box, the angler can store his fishing lures.

There are many different "exotic" fish-panels, For example, like this one:

There are oars, cutting boards, key rings, candlesticks in the form of fish and many more similar carved crafts.

And this is how the wall in my workshop looks like (not all crafts are here):
