How to cut long hair. The most trendy haircuts

    "Fox's tail"

New in the world hairdressing– haircut for long hair – playful “fox tail”. The name speaks for itself: the hair from below is cut in the shape of the letter V - it looks like a cut in the shape of an elegant fox tail. Mostly this unusual haircut is performed on straight hair, otherwise the “tail” will not be noticeable, it will get lost in the curls. It goes well with bangs, and looks chic without them too.

    There are two options here:

    • If the hair is even along the entire length and does not split, then simply trim the ends of the hair in a V shape
    • If the length of the hair is different, then except for the bottom of the hair in the shape of the letter V, all the hair is cut in multi-steps. This option is reminiscent of a cascade haircut. This haircut is suitable for almost any hair, and with any face shape, except square and triangular, since there are straight lines. Age doesn't matter either.

    Haircut cascade"

Popular for a very long time. It will look great on those with thick, long hair. Well, for girls with sparse hair The cascade will help give more volume. The haircut is very versatile, which is why it is so in demand in the fashion world, even among celebrities. Suitable for any face shape, any age, any hair type. Emphasizes individuality, makeup, neck and shoulder lines.

    "Ladder"

Great suitable for girls who want to change their image, but not change their hair length. This haircut is also suitable for any type of face, you just need to decide on the length of the hair in order to hide flaws and highlight the advantages as much as possible. The ladder will look beneficial both with bangs and without them. There are no limits to imagination.

For women, with a round and square face it is better to give preference to the option with torn bangs, cut obliquely, and for oval face will fit different ideas with bangs, even straight. Under this ideal type Almost anything will do. It is not advisable to make a ladder for ladies with coarse and curly hair; step transitions simply will not be visible. If the ends are split, it is advisable to cure them before cutting. If this is not possible, look for other options.

    Torn haircuts

If you have a haircut, but something doesn’t suit you or there is no charm in it, you don’t stand out from the gray mass of people - no problem. You can add some zest by adding torn strands. It can be along the entire length, or in just one place on the head. You can also make an unusual one torn bangs with an oblique cut. These haircuts look a little careless, but creative. Image is not a hindrance when choosing a torn haircut.

How to cut long hair beautifully and unusually?

There are also options for haircuts for long hair that are rarely seen on girls. It is better to resort to such haircuts if you have the right facial features and generally ideal appearance.

    1. An elongated bob is a classic haircut that will never get boring for the fair sex. Popular for many years. This haircut is also done on long hair. At the same time, we leave the hair as long as possible in the front - this is the hit of the new season. The haircut will suit business ladies, there is practically no age limit for hairstyles.
    2. Asymmetrical bob for long hair - similar to a long bob, only the hair remains long on one side. It will be complemented by torn bangs.

These two haircuts require virtually no special care or styling; the hair itself lies flat. You will immediately notice that men glance at you.

I would also like to talk about how to cut long hair at home. Of course, you can’t do any complicated haircuts at home, but you can trim the ends without going to the hairdresser. Before cutting long hair at home, purchase special hairdressing scissors. Ordinary ones are not suitable for this purpose. If you use them, the hair will quickly delaminate and may begin to split severely. Of course, this will greatly affect their further growth and strength.

You can also buy thinning scissors to make the ends a little uneven. It is not recommended to thin split hair, because it may begin to split even more. But they will come in handy when you get the hang of it and want to cut the hair most correctly. You will also need a regular comb with sparse teeth and several clips. Many people believe that it is better to slightly wet your hair before cutting, but this statement is not always true. Imagine that you cut your hair, it dried out and became a little shorter, and even worse, uneven at the bottom. This often happens with curls - they dry out and bristle in different directions.

It is better to cut your hair completely dry, as this allows you to accurately determine the length of how it will look after the procedure, especially if it is severe curly hair. Before cutting your hair, be sure to comb it well. Otherwise, individual strands of hair may remain, which will subsequently stick out from the total mass of curls. Straight hair is best cut according to straight line at the bottom. But if they are naturally curly, then it is better to trim them in a small semicircle.

Trimming your hair yourself has many advantages:

    • No need to find time to visit the salon
    • Free procedure - no need to spend money
    • You choose the length for yourself (hairdressers often cut more hair than the client needs)

There are also shortcomings that can affect your appearance.

    • Due to your inexperience, you can get a very uneven haircut for the first time.
    • It takes too long, especially at first

Hair cutting is a very delicate and sensitive moment. Therefore, take the choice of your future hairstyle very seriously. If you decide to do beautiful haircut, entrust your hair to a renowned professional who will explain verbatim what option will do specifically for your hair, will tell you about styling your hair and further care for it.

I am often asked what haircuts can be done on long hair. Unfortunately, there are very few options here. Good options- even less. Now I’ll tell you and explain why.

    Smooth hair cut

The most common and most best optionstraight hair cut. This means that all the hair ends in one clear line. Such a cut can be very tight when the edge of the hair is not processed in any way after cutting. This option is the only one possible for thin, straight, long hair. Or it can be lightened using scissors using special techniques. Please do not allow anyone to cut long hair with thinning scissors. They are not designed for cutting long hair or for making edges easier. This is a fast, but low-quality “economy technique” that produces a sloppy, tattered edge. Lightening the edge is necessary for very dense and thick hair, which otherwise will bristle, stick out or give unnecessary volume at the ends.

Smooth, dense edge on fine hair.

Smooth, lightweight edge on thick, dense hair

    Straight and rounded straight cut

An even cut can also be straight or horseshoe-shaped. I love straight cut when all the hair on the head is cut to the same length. This option gives maximum freedom in hairstyles, looks good both in loose hair and in ponytails and bumps, and also allows you to remove your hair completely without the use of additional hairpins. But on long hair it is not always possible to achieve an even straight cut, since the hair on the face is usually much thinner and more damaged, it breaks off and is almost always shorter.

Straight, even, dense cut at super length

In this case, or simply if you wish, you can do smooth rounded, cone- or horseshoe-shaped cut. This kind of thing is usually called a “ladder” in the world. It's pretty universal option, it looks beautiful in curls and curls, but too short strands on the face can get in the way, fall out of hairstyles and ponytails, spoil facial features, widening the cheeks.

Naturally, the edge of such a haircut can be processed or left tight.

    Dense semicircular cut.

Lightweight semicircular cut on very thick, dense hair

To all this is sometimes added bang, but I, as you probably already know, Especially in combination with long hair. If you really want bangs with long hair, it’s better to first

    Cascade form

In addition to an even cut, there are also cascade options(or layered, layer). Most often, the cascade is combined with a semicircular cut; with a straight cut it looks very strange.

The cascade is good on thick curls. And only, as for me. It gives the curls space to curl along the entire length, and not just at the ends, and removes the excess “house” volume that is characteristic of such hair.

With straight hair, the cascade gives a messy “split ends” effect. By the way, 90% of the young ladies who come to me to cut their “split ends” end up growing their cascade and live happily, once every few months simply cutting off the dried but smooth ends of their hair.

For thin long hair, the cascading shape is the worst enemy. There is not enough length for the cascade, as a result the longest layer of hair looks too thin and pathetic, and even layers fall apart into strange ponytails.

But, the cascade on thick hair looks fantastic when styled. Styling is needed regularly, very carefully, with a hairdryer and brush. I will never style this for myself, and, alas, not for all my clients. This requires a certain level of skill. Nevertheless, such photos beckon and I understand girls who want the same.

I have very few of my own works with cascades, and I couldn’t find any photos. I repeat, I do this haircut only on curls, and after blow-drying and adjusting the haircut to dry, they look disheveled. Here are some beautiful cascades from the Internet.

Cap haircut with an uncombed edge

But I categorically do not recommend the cap haircut to anyone. She looks ridiculous, very old-fashioned and funny. + again, problems with styling, too thin a layer of long hair that will not lie beautifully in life, the difficulty of growing all these caps, etc. In general, like this - it’s not necessary, unless of course it’s part of some complex image, close to theatrical.

As usual, everything written is just my opinion and recommendations. If you have something that I don’t recommend and really suits you, that’s cool. You are the exception to the rule!

I'll start with practical advice To those girls who always leave the beauty salon feeling upset:
    1) Your hairdresser is not a telepath and can’t read thoughts either, so immediately speak clearly, loudly and very clearly about how many centimeters you want to remove, what cut you prefer and what scissors to use to cut your hair (regular or hot)! I’ll give you an example right away: I sit down in a chair and say that today I want to trim my hair by 2 centimeters with ordinary scissors, and make the cut in a semicircle.
    2) There are such master pests who sleep and see in order to clean you up more length, arguing that “it will be better this way, your ends are completely ruined and cannot be restored, etc. I spent several years growing my hair and I know from myself how difficult it is to get every centimeter of length, so for such masters we make sure to emphasize and repeat several times before starting a haircut that you want to remove so much length and not a centimeter more! Only you can decide how many centimeters to remove, and the expert’s opinion is valid as a recommendation and advice from a professional.
    3) Should I trim my hair with regular or hot scissors? I tried both methods and I can say the following - the hot scissors method allows you to “seal” split ends, this haircut gives your hair incredible smoothness and a look like in a shampoo advertisement. But the effect on my hair lasted about 2 weeks, and then completely disappeared. Trimming with hot scissors costs several times more than with regular scissors. In terms of time, this procedure also lasts longer than regular length trimming. In my salon, I pay 400 rubles for trimming with regular scissors, and about 1000 with hot scissors - the difference is quite significant, so now I choose regular scissors. Although, if your finances allow it, I recommend the trimming method with hot scissors.
    4) Straight cut or semicircular cut, which is better to choose? For a long time I strived for an even cut. Unfortunately, on my straight and rather thick hair, such a cut looked very “heavy”, especially in the photographs it gave the impression that the hair seemed to be chopped off, and I am cool about thinning the ends. A semicircle cut looks much more interesting, gives the image lightness and gives wide scope for experimentation with styling. The last time I chose a semicircular cut, and asked the strands near my face to be cut in steps, believe me, after such a haircut, the image is completely transformed and the hairstyle immediately takes on a shape.
    5) How often should I trim my hair? I advise you to do this at least once every 2-3 months and remove about 2 cm of length. I used to put off going to the salon as long as I could. I had periods when I was obsessed with the idea of growing my hair as long as possible. For clarity, I’m telling a story about how I didn’t cut my hair for about 5 months, from the beginning of April to September of this year. Yes, I managed to achieve my goal and grow waist length, but let's take a closer look at the photos taken before trimming my hair. It is clearly visible that approximately 10 cm of the ends are not in the best condition - they are dry, stick out in all directions and look very sloppy, despite the fact that the hair in the photo is styled and straightened with an iron. I'm not even talking about combing - I decided to get a haircut when, despite regularly using moisturizing masks, oils and conditioning sprays, the comb got stuck somewhere in the middle of the length, my hair began to get very tangled, almost into tangles.

I went to the salon with the thought that I would remove 2-3 cm as usual and no more. But after looking at my hair in bright light and in a large mirror, I realized that I didn’t like my reflection, I didn’t like the way my fairly grown hair began to look, and I urgently needed to change something. As a result, I removed about 10 cm (!) of the length and made the cut in a semicircle, arranging the strands near the face in steps. Do you think I regretted this at least a little? On the contrary, I left the salon light and renewed, my hair became perfectly smooth, combed like clockwork, and the ends began to look very neat. The moral of this story: if I weren’t so keen on growing it out and visited a hairdresser more often, I wouldn’t end up having to remove so much length. By the way, more than two months have passed since such a “radical” trim, the hair has begun to grow very well and still looks well-groomed, but according to my “schedule” I have already scheduled the trim at the end of November.

And finally, I will share my “secret”, or rather a wonderful product that takes care of the ends and prevents split ends, which allows you to delay hair trimming.

Probably everyone has heard about this oil. this is actually just a find! I have already lost count of the number of times I buy this product. The oil has an affordable price, about 300 rubles, convenient packaging with a dispenser and is economically consumed. I use the elixir oil as follows: rub a small portion in my palms and apply to wet hair, starting from the ends and moving towards the middle of the length. The oil restores and nourishes the hair, gives it a well-groomed and neat appearance, and with regular use the oil really helps to trim the ends less often, but still you shouldn’t ignore this procedure

Thank you for spending this time with me. I hope that my experience and advice were useful to you and I wish all the girls beautiful, well-groomed and healthy hair! I note that these are only my thoughts and I am not a hairdresser or a specialist, so if your opinion does not coincide with mine or you have something to say on the topic of hair trimming, I will be glad to chat in the comments!

Beauty - how gem: the simpler it is, the more precious it is :)

Beauty has a close relationship with health, which is why hair that attracts attention and evokes admiration is thick, shiny, voluminous, and vibrant. Thin ends, which in addition have begun to split, will immediately ruin the image well-groomed girl, especially if she grows length. How to trim them evenly yourself and how often should you do this?

Why trim the ends of your hair?

Girls who are trying to grow the maximum length possible for themselves often perceive even the idea of losing a couple of millimeters negatively. They wonder why trim the ends of their hair if the silhouette of the hairstyle does not require monthly updating, and this does not affect the expected growth rate. This also applies to density.

Professionals are ready to talk about the benefits of regular hair cutting:

    • Maintaining a beautiful cut, which is important for any length.
    • Elimination of thinning that appears already at the length of the shoulder blades and below.
    • The tips are the “oldest” zone, which over time becomes absolutely lifeless and dry, even if it doesn’t try to split. Eliminating it is a way to preserve healthy looking hairstyles

How to trim your own ends

Not everyone has the opportunity to visit a hairdresser: lack of time, lack of a competent hairdresser, too high a cost. For such a situation, girls need to know how to properly cut their own ends while maintaining the silhouette of the original hairstyle. If your hair is long, it’s easy to trim it, but if you have short hair, it’s better to find a trusted salon: you won’t be able to carry out this procedure on your own at the back.

Experts tell you how to cut the ends of long hair correctly and evenly:

    • Only with professional scissors - no office scissors.
    • Be sure to moisten slightly, but not so much that the water drips. For curly hair, a little more intense than for barely noticeable curls or straight hair.
    • Before cutting, smooth with a fine-toothed comb.

There are not many ways to trim the ends yourself:

    • In a straight line around the entire circumference.
    • In a cascade, over a tail thrown forward.
    • With tourniquets.

How to cut the ends of your hair beautifully

Regardless of the method you choose from those listed earlier, you need to properly organize your work area. There should be mirrors in front and behind that will provide you with good review. Having all the tools will help you cut the ends of your hair evenly and beautifully: hairpins, clips, elastic bands, scissors (it’s good to have thinning scissors), and a thin comb. General scheme actions using the example of length to the waist with an even cut:

    1. Gather a ponytail at the back of your head.
    2. Moisten the working area evenly and comb.
    3. Throw the ponytail over your shoulder, holding the end between your index and middle fingers.
    4. Place the comb parallel to the floor and trim the ends along it.
    5. Trim your hair, thin it if necessary (for thick hair).
    6. Remember to comb each strand all the way to the end before cutting a new section, and compare it with the neighboring ones.

How to cut the ends of long hair

This method is not suitable for maintaining a straight cut - it is oriented towards a ladder or cascade. Cutting the ends of long hair using this technology is very simple, ideal for wavy hair, but it is better not to do it on curly hair. The scheme is like this:

    1. Throw wet hair forward, tilting your head.
    2. Comb. If you need a parting, do it at the same stage.
    3. Determine the shape of the cut: diagonal on the right and left, converging in the center, will give a clear ladder. An even one will help make a beautiful soft cascade.
    4. How much to cut depends on the condition of the ends.
    5. Trim the cut, removing stray hairs (preferably with thinning scissors).

How to trim split ends along the entire length

If you do not need a preventive procedure, but rather the removal of dry areas that have begun to split, professionals advise resorting to the tourniquet method. The method is ideal for preserving long hair, because... no trimming is performed here. The only drawback: the procedure takes a long time and requires very thoughtful, slow actions.

You can trim split ends beautifully and neatly along the entire length like this:

    1. Wash your hair without (!) balms, masks, etc. Dry slightly.
    2. Divide wet, combed hair into several sections with horizontal and vertical partings. Gather most of it into a bun so it doesn't get in the way.
    3. Twist the strand with a thin, strong rope. Cut all the protruding split ends along it on a bias: almost straighten this line. Repeat until the desired result is obtained.
