Boats are one of the most popular themes for making crafts. Many handmade toys will float well on the water and give children unforgettable emotions. In this material we will tell you how to make a ship quickly and easily with your own hands from various available materials. All instructions are suitable for beginners and for joint creativity with children.

How to make a ship with your own hands from paper?

Paper is one of the most common and affordable materials for crafts. . It’s very easy to make a paper boat with your own hands thanks to the step-by-step photo with description, which can be seen below.

    • Fold a piece of A4 paper in half. You can take both colored and white.
    • We bend the right and left corners from above to the center line.
    • Bend up upper layer bottom rectangle. Turn the workpiece over and bend the second layer of paper in the other direction.
    • We bend and fix the small corners inside the workpiece on both sides.
    • We bend the sharp bottom corner up.
    • Fold the triangle in the center to form a diamond.
    • Gently pulling the corners, we push the workpiece apart and begin to form the boat.
    • To give the figure volume and stability, straighten the bottom.
    • The paper boat is ready! You can decorate it as you wish.
A ship made from a plastic bottle.

The basis for this original crafts will become regular bottle made of plastic. In addition to this, you will need wooden sticks (for example, Chinese), 3 nails (2 small and 1 large diameter sticks), thread and scissors, glue, colored and white paper.

First, using a hot nail, you need to make 3 holes for the sticks in one straight line: near the lid, in the middle and between the middle and the bottom of the bottle.

We drive 2 small nails into the bottom of the bottle; they can also be heated before doing this.

We insert 3 mast sticks into the prepared holes and coat the holes around them with glue.

From paper suitable colors cut out sails and flags different shapes. We fix them on the masts by piercing them with sticks. We wrap the flags on top of the sticks, coating the paper with glue. We wrap the sailboat with threads that imitate ropes, starting with the bow and the horizontal mast (bowsprit).

To secure the masts with threads, we use nails driven into the bottom. In order for a bottle toy to float well in the water and not fall over on its side, you need simple ballast: unscrew the cap and pour a little sand inside.

How to make a boat out of cardboard.

In the next master class we will make a sailboat out of cardboard with our own hands.

To make a cardboard boat you will need a sheet of cardboard, paper, glue and tape, 2 wooden ones, sticks, scissors. In addition, you need fabric and thick threads for the sail, paint and brushes for painting the ship.

First you need to draw and cut out the details of the future boat from cardboard:

To glue the cardboard blanks together, we use strips of tape.

To make a mast, you need to cut out several round cardboard blanks and string them onto a wooden stick. We install the resulting structure on the bottom of the boat and glue it.

Now you need to cover the surface of the craft with paper. To do this, dilute PVA glue with water 1 to 1, drop pieces of paper into the solution (you can cut it or just tear it with your hands) and stick it on.

When everything is ready, the boat needs to be dried and then painted.

Let's start making the sail. We wind a piece of fabric onto a second wooden stick (slightly smaller in diameter), attach the stick to the mast (at an angle of 90 degrees), and wrap it with thread.

If desired, you can draw any coat of arms directly on the fabric. The ship is ready!

How to make a boat from foam plastic.

Let's consider the following method of making a boat from scrap materials. Such ships also float well, but they cannot be overloaded.

For this craft you will need a piece of fairly thick foam plastic, wooden stick, thread and fabric for sails, a long nail and matches, tape or glue, a sharp knife, sandpaper, paper and a pen.

    • First, on paper you need to draw and cut out a pattern for half of the future boat (since both sides must be perfectly symmetrical).
    • Using a pen, we transfer the contours of the bottom of the boat onto the foam plastic using the pattern.
    • We cut out the foam part with any sharp knife (the blade should go exactly perpendicular). We sand the irregularities with sandpaper.
    • If desired, you can hollow out a depression in the middle where sailors can be seated. In this case, the sides must be even in thickness.
    • Approximately in the center we make a hole for the mast (not through). We insert a stick, the length of which should not be greater than the length of the ship (otherwise the ship may capsize). We glue the mast with double-sided tape, if there is none, use glue. At this stage it is worth checking the stability of the boat on the water.
    • We sew sails from scraps of fabric. You should have drawstrings into which you can insert threads.
    • We insert and glue 2 matches to secure the threads - on the bow and stern. For better fastening of the threads, we make small notches on the mast - at the top and bottom. We set the sails. We attach a pennant at the top of the mast. The ship is ready!

Another one interesting idea for a craft - decorate a small vase with candies in the shape of a boat. This original boat can be an excellent gift for any holiday.

Video on the topic of the article

For those who want to get new ideas for creativity, we have prepared a selection of video lessons on making boats:

    Good afternoon, dear needlewomen!

Many will remember unforgettable moments from childhood - how great it was to do paper boats and launch them along a river or at least a puddle! Years have passed, and now your hands have forgotten how to make boats. Now that you have your own children, it’s time to remember and introduce your child to this exciting spring lesson- do paper boats and put them on the water!

You can come up with a game: put together several boats with a child and send them to the river for a bet: whose boat floats the longest is the winner.

In this article you will learn how to make a paper boat with your own hands, and also watch the video instructions.

How to make a paper boat

Did you know that the origami technique is useful for a child because it develops thinking, attentiveness, logic and fine motor skills? Therefore, arm yourself with a piece of A4 paper and start making your own crafts. For work, you can take a white sheet, which you can later repaint in any color you like, and it is also better to take paper that will not get wet after 30 seconds spent in water. There is another secret of “survivability”: a paper boat can be coated with melted beeswax or paraffin, this will make the paper moisture resistant.

First, we will introduce you to the diagram of a paper boat, then we will proceed to step by step photos and video.

    Paper boat folding diagram

    1. Fold a white sheet of paper in half. (Fig. 1) Bend the two upper corners of the rectangle at right angles to the center point (Fig. 2)

    2. We bend up on both sides the free edges of the sheet on both sides (Fig. 3)

    3. Tuck the corners as shown in Figure 4 so that the overall composition forms a triangle (Figure 4)

    5. Bring the corners of the bottom of the composition together (Fig. 5) so that we end up with a square (Fig. 6).

    6. Fold the bottom part up to form a triangle again (Fig. 8)

    7. Hold the composition by the corners and carefully place it into a square.

    8. Pull the corners until you get a boat, do not forget to align all sides of the ship well, this will give it stability and accuracy.

    Paper boat.

Perhaps every boy folded paper boats in childhood, and most likely, upon becoming a parent, not everyone will be able to fold a paper boat just once or twice. Let's refresh our memory and origami technique and fold a boat with our own hands together with the “Master of Handicrafts”

As we have already said, make a craft from thick paper that will retain its appearance on the water longer. Beeswax or paraffin will increase the boat's moisture resistance.

How to make a stable and beautiful ship, and how to decorate it? You can decorate the boat, firstly, acrylic paints, secondly, from toothpicks and fabric, napkins or paper, you can make a flag for the ship and attach it so that balance is maintained.

Now let's move on to the paper boat folding technique.

We only need a sheet of A4 paper.

    Fold the sheet in half.

And again in half - to make a fold line.

    Unfold the last fold.

We will schematically denote it with a dotted line.

We bend the upper corners to this dotted line.

Be careful that both ends are symmetrical and meet in the middle of the craft.

Bend the lower free ends upward on both sides.

    Carefully bend the protruding corners.

This is what happened on one side.

Do the same on the other side.

Fold the workpiece crosswise, as shown in the photo.

Open the boat to make a diamond shape.

Measure a short distance from the top corner, mark it or eyeball it. Fold the bottom edge to this point.

We do the same on the second side.

Now we need to open our paper boat again. A little more and your DIY craft will be ready!

Now grab both sides of the ship with your fingers.

Pull them and open the boat.

This is how it should turn out. Now we need to straighten the boat well.

It is important to properly straighten the boat, otherwise it may lie on its side in the water; pay special attention to the bottom.

Learning how to make a boat out of paper is simple, you probably became convinced of this by looking through the instructions. Systematic folding of paper using the origami technique develops creative thinking, logic, hands, outlook and eye. Using the origami technique you can make anything: boats, airplanes, insects, flowers, animals, bows - whatever your heart desires!

Therefore, a paper boat is just the beginning! Next, make a paper boat, a paper cruiser, and so on with your child! Below are video tutorials on how to make them.

How to make a sailboat out of paper video

    Text prepared by: Veronica

We suggest gluing one of the light models paper sailboat. Creating a three-masted sailboat will be for you interesting activity for a few hours.

The difficulty level of the model is average, however, even a beginner can glue it together. The main thing is to carefully read the instructions and, in order not to get confused, glue the parts sequentially.

    • To print out diagrams of sailboat parts, you can use either a black-and-white or color printer. On appearance it won't have much impact. If something happens, you can color the sailboat with pencils.
    • Schemes can be printed on thin cardboard or a piece of Whatman paper. However, if you decide to print the diagrams on photo paper, then your sailboat will be able to float in the water for a while, and then, of course, become limp.
    • To cut out parts, use sharp cutting tools, scissors or a utility knife. Then the parts will have smooth and neat edges.
    • To create curved pieces, use a pen or pencil to wrap the paper piece around it and give it a rounded shape.
    • Make sailboat masts from paper straws created from paper wrapped around a pencil.
    • When making folds of parts, use a drawing ruler and a sharp sticker. Place a ruler along the bend line, draw a sticker along it so that an indented line remains and bend it.
    • You need to cut and glue the parts sequentially, this will prevent you from getting confused when making the sailboat.
    • When gluing parts, try to use a moderate amount of glue.
    • While gluing, use napkins to dry your hands, otherwise dirty fingers may appear on the clean paper.

All children love to float boats on the water. If you don’t know how to make a paper boat for a child or want to make a paper boat with him, our article will help you with this.

We will look at the most interesting and simple options, which can only be made with paper using the origami method, using diagrams and step-by-step instructions.

In order to make a simple paper boat with your own hands, you will need the minimum amount of available materials. Or rather, just paper. This can be either colored paper or a regular piece of paper from a school notebook.

    Simple paper boat

Prepare a sheet of paper. It’s very good if it’s a sheet of A4 size - then the boat will turn out to be large, dense, and, of course, stable. This means that it will stay afloat for a long time and still defeat its opponent.

The steps for creating a paper boat are as follows::

Fold a sheet of paper prepared in advance in half. Place the folded side up and fold it in half again.

    1. Bend the upper corners at right angles towards the center.
    2. Fold all free edges of the sheet up on both sides.
    3. Carefully tuck all free corners inward. You will get a triangle.
    4. Bring the corners at the base of the shape together. This should create a square.
    5. Fold the bottom corners of the square on both sides so that you again form a triangle.
    6. Bring the corners at its base together - you get a square. Take it by the upper corners and gently pull it to the sides until the figure is completely revealed and the boat is formed.
    7. Smooth out the sides of the boat to give it maximum stability.

It’s better to figure out how to make this boat, a visual diagram will help you:

Congratulations, your simple paper boat is ready! If you wish, you can paint it with pencils, felt-tip pens and paints and even make additional applications on the walls. And small handmade masts, sails and flags, carefully placed on board, will certainly delight children and make the boat even better. Play with this paper friend- pure pleasure!

For greater clarity, we invite you to watch a short video that shows in detail the process of creating a paper boat with your own hands

The process of creating a two-pipe boat is not as complicated as it might seem. You will again need a familiar sheet of paper and an additional tool - scissors.

So, in order to make a two-pipe boat, you will need:

      1. Fold the bottom left corner of the sheet of paper so that its top side lies completely on the right side. Cut off the resulting excess part. Having completely unfolded the sheet, you will see a square in front of you.
      2. Since there is already one fold line on it, it is necessary to make a second one intersecting with it. To do this, the square should be bent diagonally.
      3. Fold all four corners towards the center to form a small square.
      4. Turn the resulting figure over with the bent corners facing down. Next, repeat the third point - bend all corners towards the center.

    1. A square sheet of paper (it can be easily made from a rectangular one by folding one of the corners and cutting off the excess) needs to be folded along the central axis and diagonals in such a way as to obtain 16 small squares.
    2. Bend all four corners of the square towards the center, and then align the two edges of the workpiece with each other and with the center.
    3. Do a similar procedure with all corners. Turn the workpiece over and bend it in half diagonally.
    4. Connect the small triangles on the right side of the figure to each other. They will appear in the form of a sail.

    Second way

This method is traditional for the Japanese. To implement it you will need:

    1. Take a square sheet of paper and bend it diagonally.
    2. Also carefully bend two corners along the center line.
    3. Next, you need to bend the bottom corner and align it with the top, thus forming a horizontal line.
    4. Also bend the two sides along the axial vertical line.
    5. Carefully bend the side with an obtuse angle and bend it at an angle of 90 degrees to the horizontal sheet.
    6. For greater persuasiveness, bend the vertical sheet slightly on the sides.

Japanese ship - the sailboat is ready!

Usually it is recommended to make a sailboat from colored paper, because it is much brighter and more beautiful this way. Don't forget to paint and decorate it as you wish, and also make several more similar products. After all, the more of them, the more interesting.

The process of creating a paper boat - a sailboat - is shown in the following video

    Paper boat

The boat creation scheme is also simple and will only take a few minutes. All you need is patience, accuracy and attentiveness.

In order to create a paper boat, you need very little time and effort. Fold the A4 sheet in half, first lengthwise and then crosswise. Pay close attention that the closed edges should be on top.

The next step involves working with the corners - the top ones need to be folded towards the center line, and the top and bottom edges, which are currently open, need to be folded up.

Then you need to bend the triangle. Once you do this, you will have a square in front of you, the bottom corners of which are open. Now fold the front and back corners up.

From the resulting triangle, make a square again. Now slowly pull the ends of the top corners of the square into different sides, and a real paper boat will appear in front of you.

As children, when spring came, we all made paper boats and sent them on long voyages. In this article we remember how to make the simplest vessel and learn how to create more complex models.

How to make a paper boat: the easiest way

In order to figure out how to make a paper boat, step-by-step instruction will not be superfluous.

Take a sheet of paper, preferably landscape, A4 size. Such boats will turn out to be more rigid and beautiful. Fold the sheet in half vertically.

Fold the top two corners towards the center, as if creating an airplane.

Now you should bend the strip of paper under the folded corners.

Turn the future boat over to the other side and do the same.

Now bend the corners of the resulting strips inward on one side and on the other.

Take the piece and turn it, putting the other opposite sides together, you should get a diamond shape.

Turn the workpiece with separate corners down. Fold one corner up, then the other.

It turns out to be a triangle. We turn the future boat over again and connect the other two opposite sides.

There's one last step left. Grab the corners and pull.

When the boat is ready, you need to expand it a little in the middle. That's all, the product is ready.

Below is a diagram with which you can master this art even faster.

How to make a steamboat with two paper pipes

Making a two-pipe boat is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. This vessel is also best made from A4 sheet. First we need to make a square one from a rectangular leaf. To do this, fold the sheet so that most of it forms a triangle, cut off the excess.

Now you need to bend all the corners so that their tips are at the same point in the middle.

Turn the workpiece over to the other side and do the same with the corners.

Rotate the future ship again and do all the actions with the corners for the third time.

We turn the figure over again. Align two opposite corners to create two rectangles.

Pull the remaining two opposite corners and the pipes should snap into place.

The steamer with two tubes is ready.

How to make a paper boat using origami technique

It’s not difficult to make such a sailboat using the origami technique; with the help of a diagram and description you can easily build the same one.

Take a sheet of paper, maybe A4 or colored paper. Fold it in half vertically and unfold it again. Now the edges of the sheet need to be pressed to the fold line in the center. Now fold the top and bottom of the rectangle towards the center, you should get a square. Then return them to their original position. Expand the bottom corners as shown in the figure, along the dotted lines, align the folds to make a trapezoid. Do the same actions with the upper corners. We look at the pictures carefully.

Now bend the corners of the upper trapezoid as shown in the diagram, along the dotted lines. Turn the figure over and bend part of the workpiece along the dotted line. That's it, your sailboat is ready, all you need for a good result is to carefully look at the diagram and repeat the steps step by step.

Paper is an excellent material for creativity, in addition to simple crafts You can make very beautiful things from it.
