The official date of RCBZ Day in Russia is November 13. Nowadays, with the development of chemical and nuclear industry, RCBZ troops perform a wider range of tasks than at the beginning of the 20th century. Operations are being carried out for biological, radiation and chemical reconnaissance, infection prevention, disinfection and localization of personal property of the Russian Armed Forces. The chemical forces also include special units, problem solvers to eliminate consequences during the use of fire, incendiary and smoke agents. The RCBZ troops in Russia have two main tasks. The first is the maximum reduction in the impact of human waste products on the environment, and therefore on the person himself. And the second is counteracting chemical and biological factors that are incompatible with the normal functioning of the human body. Russia was approved in 2006 on May 31 by Presidential Decree. The celebration takes place on November 13, it was on this day that the Chemical Troops were formed in 1918. They appeared in accordance with the order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic, which ordered the formation of the first chemical defense units in the army.
Pages of history
In order to train personnel in chemical defense agencies, narrowly focused Moscow courses on military gas engineering were opened on December 5, 1918. In 1920 they were retrained as the Higher School of Chemistry. Already in 1923, the first anti-gas teams appeared in rifle regiments.
By 1925, the final system of military command and control of chemical forces had been formed.
Chemical troops played a big role in the Great Patriotic War:
- conducted reconnaissance in order to determine the enemy's preparations for;
- promptly warned their troops about an impending attack using;
- contributed to ensuring the regular readiness of military formations and units to carry out combat missions when the enemy uses biological and chemical weapons;
- provided camouflage of troops and objects with special smokes.
In the post-war years, these troops were given great responsibility. They were supplied the latest equipment, developed in a special research center.
Members of the chemical defense troops showed themselves heroically, working in conditions of radiation danger on the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, during the counter-terrorist operation in Chechnya. In 1992, the chemical troops began to be called RKhBZ (radiation, chemical and biological defense troops).
Many more events passed before they began to celebrate the Day of the Russian Chemical Forces with special honor. 2013 marked the beginning of celebrating this day on a grand scale.
Occupation
In peacetime, troops perform a number of important tasks:
- provide high-quality training to existing personnel;
- prepare resources for mobilization;
- maintain equipment, prepare equipment, biological protection means;
- a special control structure ensures the formation of connections and parts in as soon as possible, if there is a threat of biological, radiation or chemical attack.
Service in the RCBZ troops is considered one of the most difficult and dangerous, since one has to work under conditions of possible contamination and radiation exposure.
