Today we will study knitting all kinds pockets: patch pocket With valve and without valve, and welt pockets: horizontal, vertical and inclined.

Figure it out how to knit pockets books will help us knitting, Let's open one of them:

Book by A. A. Vlasova" Knitting: from skill to mastery":

    Overhead pocket

Such pocket can be oval, rectangular or triangular.

Selecting the form of the invoice pocket depends only on the model.

At first knitting completely all the details of the product, sew them together, and then knit pockets the required size and shape.

For example, to pocket looked square, in the drawing its length (depth) is 1-2 cm greater than its width.

Patch pockets often knit with valves.

Length valve usually equal to the entry line pocket.

Most proportional valve, the width of which is 1/3 of the length pocket.

Before you sew pocket to the shelf, often its edge crocheted to eliminate unevenness.

Pocket sew on with the same ones threads with which he connected, while using back stitch, which is laid at the very edge pocket next to the edges loops.

In products related from thin yarn can be sewn pocket narrow knitted bar kettel stitch.

To do this you need to dial additional thread quantity loops, equal to the length of three sides pocket, And to knit basic thread stocking stitch strip 1 cm wide.

Loops the last row is not closed, but knit a few more rows of extra thread and take it out knitting needle.

The bar is ironed through a damp cloth, placed with the middle on the edge of the baste to the shelf. tied pocket on three sides and kettled on both sides.

There is another way to start knitting patch pocket- with additional threads.

After its removal they remain open loops, which are very convenient to sew to knitted product kettel stitch.

Having finished knit pocket, it is ironed, the additional a thread, baste to the shelf, sew the bottom edge kettel stitch(on the sides, as described above).

    Slotted pockets

Pocket consists of burlap (inner part) and finishing leaf (strap).

For knitting welt pocket additional is required spoke, cotton thread, pin for removal loops and an additional tangle of basic threads. Welt pocket It comes with horizontal, vertical and oblique cuts.

Length of cuts pocket on the bodice (the part of the product above the waistline) 8-10 cm, on the bottom of the jacket, skirt or dress - 12-16 cm.

Their locations are indicated on the working drawing.

Knitting shelves from the bottom line to the starting point pocket.

Let's turn to book "Let's Get Started" knit and crochet"E. A Fomicheva.

    Horizontal welt pocket

At the beginning knitting burlap pocket the right size(by calculation loops), performing it as a stocking knitting so that it is thinner and protrudes less on the front side of the product. The last row is not closed, but re-shot loops on thread or a pin and set aside.

shelf knitting up the pattern. Reaching the cutting line pocket, knitting front row to the beginning of this line, count as many loops how much was used for knitting burlap, minus 2 loops.

They will reshoot them on thread, the ends of which tie up knot.

In their place they will reshoot on the left loop knitting needle burlap with pins, knit their main pattern and onwards knitting rest loops row.

At the same time 2 loops(the last one from the shelf and the first one from the burlap) knit together the front, and having knitted burlap again knitting 2 loops(the last one from the burlap and the first one from the shelf) knit together to restore the original number loops shelves.

After the shelf tied, will be re-shot from threads on knitting needle open loops cut pocket And knit edging pocket 2 cm wide with the pattern you want connected collar and placket.

The edges of the edging protruding above the cut are attached to the shelf with a hidden seam.

After steaming and drying the parts, the burlap is also sewn to the shelf with a hidden seam.

    Vertical welt pocket

On the pattern they mark the place where it is located pocket.

shelf knitting main stitch to the bottom of the cut pocket(point A in figure b),

divide loops shelves into two parts: the part located on the side and the side.

Loops side part is removed with a pin (or thread). Knitting part of the shelf from the side to point B, finish knitting front row.

Loops reshoot on thread, tie up its ends are tied into a knot and left.

Take the second ball and, bending it towards you related part of the shelf, gaining new ones loops from the braids of the finishing strip in the area ED (from point E), see fig. V.

Knitting stockinette stitch until point A (finish with the front row), after which it is transferred from the pin to the left one loop knitting needle side part and knitting Row to end in main stitch.

In the reverse (purl) row in main stitch knitting to the AB line, after which they switch to stocking stitch (burlap pocket), see fig. G.

Having finished so up to t. C, begin to decrease loops burlap along the SB line, knitting in each purl row the penultimate and last loops purl together. Having finished to point B, get burlap pocket(the side part is not yet knitting).

Turning knitting on the front side, re-shoot on the left knitted loop knitting needle previously parts of the shelf from the side and knitting it and the side part of the shelf in the main knitting. Further knitting shelf up with the whole canvas.

When the shelf tied, from side braids on the cut line pocket recruiting new ones loops And knitting trim strip pocket 2 cm high.

The side edges of the plank are attached to the shelf with a hidden seam using strong threads in the color of the product.

After steaming and drying the shelves, the burlap is sewn with a hidden seam using the same threads.

Second pocket knit on another shelf, starting from the opposite side (mirrored).

    Slanted welt pocket

Knitting this pocket similar to doing vertical welt pocket.

First, on the pattern, mark the place where the pocket. Then knitting shelf to point A, divide the shelf into two parts: the part located on the side and the side, see fig. b.

Loops side part is removed with a pin (or thread). After t. And part of the shelf on the side of the side begins to decrease, knitting at the end of each purl row 2 loops together purl to obtain an inclined line AB.

Having finished so until t. B (finish with a purl row), loops re-taken with a pin (or thread) and leave.

They take a new ball, and, bending it towards themselves related part, recruiting new ones loops from the braids of the finishing strip on the section SD (from point D), see fig. V,

And knitting burlap rectangle pocket stocking stitch up to point A (finish with the front row),

retaken from the pin to left knitting needle loops side part and knitting row to the end with the main ones pattern.

Turning knitting to the wrong side, knit main pattern to line AB, and the rest loops- stocking stitch, see fig. G.

So knitting and in subsequent rows, each time shifting the main one pattern for one loop to the right (triangle ABE, shaded obliquely, refers to burlap pocket and there should be connected stocking stitch).

Having finished side part to point B ( knitting ends with the front row), open loops parts of the shelf from the side are removed from the pin to the left one knitting needle And knit row to the end with the main ones pattern.

When the shelf tied, collect new ones on the cutting line loops and knit the finishing strip pocket 2 cm wide.

Its side edges are attached to the shelf with a hidden seam of strong thread in the color of the product.

After steaming and drying the finished shelf, burlap is sewn on pocket with the same hidden seam threads.

Second pocket knit on another shelf, starting from the other side (mirrored).

    EXERCISE

To explore options pockets knit them in a reduced size (half is possible), attach the samples to the album and make the necessary explanations for knitting everyone pocket.

There are pockets on different models knitted products. But even if there is no pocket, you can knit it using our master classes.
To knit a pocket, you first need to decide where this pocket will be located. Even if the model has a pattern, you can knit a pocket without changing the pattern.
The simplest pocket is the patch pocket. But it is suitable for models with simple pattern or where the pattern will not change much. Having knitted a pocket of the required size in the form of a square, rectangle or even a triangle, we sew it over the product in the selected place. If you knit a pocket in the shape of flowers, they can even decorate your clothes.

Slanted pocket knitted simultaneously with the front. The pocket entry strip is knitted last with an elastic band. To enter the pocket of the person.r. knit to the marked place. We divide the work and continue knitting from 2 balls. Both sides of the front can be knitted simultaneously. for r. (in this case there is no need to count rubles) or separately (the number of rubles should be the same).

Pockets with braids. If the model has a braid pattern, then the pocket can be knitted with the same pattern.

Pocket with horizontal entry. We knit it in the process of knitting the front. First we knit the pocket burlap. To do this, we cast on the required number of stitches and knit a piece of the required length with the main pattern (we knit the last row from the inside of the front).

Slant pockets. Such pockets are more difficult to knit, especially with zippers. For a pocket with a zipper with an inclined entrance, we knit the burlap separately and then sew it on.

Pocket with slanted cutout. For it you need to knit the front before you start cutting the pocket. Then we remove the stitch to the side bevel using an additional knitting needle or pin. We knit the remaining stitches together with the finishing strip for the pocket. To obtain an inclined pocket line in each face. we knit the last stitch of the front (knit.ch.) together. As a result, the places of decrease will be invisible on the knitted fabric. Next we knit the inside of the pocket. To do this, from the additional ball we collect the required number of stitches, corresponding to the width of the pocket, it must correspond to the number of stitches that was reduced in the process of knitting the height of the pocket size, taking into account the width of the finishing strip. Then we transfer the previously postponed stitches from a pin to a knitting needle and connect them into a common r. from the inner part of the pocket, knitted from an additional ball. We knit the right side of the front to the height of the pocket cut. To prevent the inside of the pocket from turning inside out, we tie the finishing strip to the right side of the shelf. To do this, combine the strips and the right side of the shelf. We simultaneously knit 1 stitch and 1 stitch on the right side of the front side together. Thus, stitches on the left and right sides of the front are sewn onto 1 knitting needle to continue knitting. We sew the inside of the pocket from the wrong side with a hidden seam.

    Welt pocket with horizontal entrance.

Kangaroo pocket"- Master Class. To knit a pocket of the desired size, count the density of the pattern loops.

In this master class, we cast on 34 stitches on stocking needles and divide the following stitches: 10, 14, 10. Next we knit 2 rows. main pattern. Then we knit the middle stitches by adding stitches in each row. to the required length.

To knit the inside of the pocket, you need to cast on these 14 stitches from the inside and knit all the stitches in a single pattern. Having knitted the required length of the pocket, we combine them into a single fabric.

Crochet patch pockets for kids can be crocheted into fun and beautiful appliques.

Pockets for knitted items can not only be a decoration. Many people love to use it in their clothes so much that they cannot imagine any item without it. But pockets can be very different, and before making such items of clothing, you should know their types and how to make them yourself.

Yarn, as well as color, can be very different. But many craftsmen are accustomed to following the rule and making the pocket and the item in the same color. Since any incorrect cut can easily ruin the appearance of the product.

But if everything is in the same tone, it won’t be noticeable. And the texture of the fabric itself is more convenient if it matches completely and you don’t have to change the knitting needles every time you perform this element.

Types of internal (welt) pockets with knitting needles

There are three types of welt pockets. This horizontal, vertical and inclined pocket. The shape of the slanted pocket has something in common with a trapezoidal pocket. We will tell you in detail about each of these pockets in the article.

    Welt pocket with slope

This pocket is considered the most difficult. The fact is that in addition to knitting it together with the fabric of the item, you will also need to observe the required inclination in work.

    For work use:

    • yarn as for the main item;
    • knitting needles according to the thickness of the thread.

    Measurements

Preliminarily estimate how many cm are required for the height and width of the pocket. Also evaluate the fold line.

    Sample

Based on the sample, estimate how many loops and how many rows will be needed for the pocket.

Advice! It is advisable to practice cutting the loops for a smooth fold of the pocket.

    Interior

First start knitting the inner part. Knit fabrics in a similar pattern. With small yarn overs along the front surface.

    Facial surface

    Compound

At the point where the slope line begins, connect the loops of the upper work fabric with the inner loops of the pocket. Knit further fabrics separately. One with an inner piece, the other with a fold. For the extreme loops of the fold, use garter stitch.

The work is completed by joining the stitches at the top of the pocket.

    Vertical pocket

A beautiful canvas with stars is made with knitting needles, but it seems even more attractive with an original element.

    For work use:

    • medium thickness yarn;
    • knitting needles for yarn thickness.

    Measurements

Measure the length and width measurements for the intended product.

    Sample

    The basis

First make the required depth along the width according to the pattern of the canvas. Then, in the knitted product, select the loops for this insert and combine them into a common fabric. Next, knit the right side and the left side separately. Where left-hand side has a union of loops with the inner part. And the right one has an upper edge and an edge of garter stitch, which looks a little like an elastic band.

Knit to the desired height, and combine the loops for the fabric of the right and left sides at the top. Simply sew the inside with one seam.

    Horizontal pocket

Finally, the simplest of the series is horizontal. The thing is that it can be of any size and made according to any pattern. It is important to simply duplicate it on the inside. IN in this case such duplicates elegant braids.

    For work use:

    • yarn as for the entire product;
    • knitting needles according to the thickness of the selected ball.

    Measurements

Measure the length and width of the rectangle.

    Sample

Make a small sample according to the fabric pattern and calculate the knitting density for it. She will later tell you how many loops to adjust for the width, and how many rows to use for the height of the product.

    Interior

Duplicate the top pattern of the panel, and simply knit the element of the desired depth.

    Compound

Combine the work with the inside and swap the loops. Simply put it aside from the canvas, and use the cutting to continue the piece.

    Rubber

Then, from the set aside loops, knit an elastic band according to the pattern.

All that remains is to sew the elastic along the inside and sides.

These are the original models offered to craftsmen for work.

Pockets come in patch pockets, horizontal welt pockets and vertical welt pockets.

To knit invoices pockets need to be separately. The size is determined simply: you need to make a pocket pattern and attach it to the finished item. Cast on the needles with auxiliary thread required amount loops Knit a few centimeters and then continue knitting the pocket with the working thread. When you have finished knitting, iron the pocket, remove the auxiliary thread and sew the bottom edge of the pocket with a quilt stitch. Sew the side seams of the pocket with an invisible vertical seam.

To knit slotted pockets it must be at the same time as the shelf.

    Horizontal welt pockets.

    1) This method is used for stocking knitting. On the front side of the work, tie to the intended cut. Take the auxiliary thread and knit the stitches needed to cut the pocket with knit stitches. Break off the auxiliary thread. Then transfer the loops from the auxiliary thread to the left knitting needle and continue working with the main thread: knit the loops from the auxiliary thread and all the other loops of the row.

Iron the finished piece and carefully remove the auxiliary thread. A cut of open loops was formed.

Place the bottom row on a auxiliary knitting needle or pin, and put the top row on a working knitting needle, add 1 air loop and knit the pocket burlap from top to bottom using the stockinette stitch, the length to the bottom strip of the front. Iron the burlap and sew it to the wrong side. To prevent the seam from being noticeable on the front side, do not pull the thread too tightly.

From the loops of the bottom edge, knit a strip of the required width (about 2-3 cm) with a 2x2 elastic band or garter stitch. Close the loops and sew the short sides of the strip to the shelf.

    2) The following method is suitable for any knitting. Knit the front to the pocket opening. Next, knit the pocket strip and the front at the same time. After knitting the bar, fasten the loops along the front side of the work. The slot for the pocket was between the loops of the shelf.

Take an additional ball and from the arcs of the loops of the lower bar, cast on the required number of loops to knit the burlap. Work the burlap pocket stitch in stockinette stitch to the bottom edge of the placket, and then work in the main stitch to the edge of the slit. Please note that the front side of the burlap should “look” at the back of the shelf. After knitting to the edge of the cut, insert the burlap loops into the shelf pattern. After finishing knitting, sew the side parts of the burlap to the shelf.

    Vertical welt pockets.

Knitted using an additional ball. Knit the front before the start of the cut and divide the knitting into 2 parts. Continue working from two balls. Knit both parts at the same time, then you won’t have to count the rows. Place the burlap stitches onto the stitches on the right side of the front and knit straight. From the inner edge of the left front, knit the second and third stitches together. You will get an inclined entrance to the pocket. Knit the pocket to the desired height.

In the purl row from the left edge of the right side, close such a number of loops so that the number of loops on both parts of the shelf is equal to the original one. Continue knitting.

For the placket along the edge of the pocket entrance *cast on stitches from the edge cuts and purl a row using either a 2x2 rib or garter stitch. If you knit a placket in garter stitch, then knit 1 loop from one edge stitch; if you knit it with a 2x2 elastic band, then knit 4 loops from three edge stitches. This is necessary so that the bar does not tighten. Having knitted the bar to a height of 2-3 cm, close all the loops according to the pattern. Sew the short edges of the strip with an invisible seam.

Iron the pocket burlap and sew it on the wrong side, without pulling the thread too much. On the right shelf the pocket is knitted symmetrically. You can make the pocket burlap out of fabric. This will save thread and make the pocket less bulging. It should be taken into account that the top edge of the burlap should be 2-3 cm below the finishing strip of the pocket.

*How to cast on new loops from edge stitches. Insert the knitting needle into the edge loop behind both walls or through the front. Cast on the required number of loops in this way. Start knitting the pattern in the next row after casting on. If you need to knit two loops from one edge loop, then the first loop is knitted on both walls, and the second loop on the front.

    I expose my pockets:
First, I usually decide where my pocket will be. It's very simple: I find the waist, step back
from the waist down 10-12cm + 3cm. This is the lowest point of the pocket.

From the side seam of the product (in this case, I have a left pocket) I take 8-15 loops, which larger size, the more loops you need to remove on a pin. I knit the rest of the loops like this:

At the beginning of the row, two loops are together and at the end of the row, two loops are together, until I remove 27 loops. Finished it. I leave the stitches on the auxiliary needle and move on to the pin.

I transfer the loops from the pin to the knitting needle and knit as follows: make two loops from the last loop of the row and add one chain loop, as when casting on loops. I do this until 27 loops are formed, which I removed before. We connect the loops from the auxiliary needle and the ones we just cast on, we get this charming hole:

Now it needs to be processed. To begin with, we make a pocket leaf: cast on 27 loops along the bottom edge and knit as you please, or like me - knit with a lapel, or just with an elastic band without a lapel, the main thing is not to close the loops too tightly.

Now we need burlap pocket: cast on 27 stitches along the top edge and knit a long strip in stockinette stitch, taking into account that we will need to bend it in half. They tied it up. Closed. Now something has become clear, all that remains is to sew everything together... This is the top point of the pocket.

3 hours have passed, the pocket is ready, joy knows no bounds. We do the right one in exactly the same way, only with a tilt to the left.
