Knitting a cap

The cap fits tightly around the baby's head, holds well thanks to the ties, and protects the ears from drafts. Let's try to knit a double-sided cap with knitting needles. This is a very simple model that even a novice needlewoman can handle.


To work, you will need yarn of two colors. Choose the composition based on seasonality: soft wool for winter or cotton for summer.
There is no need for a pattern for this model; knitting is done by alternating stripes of front and back stitch. Abbreviations will be used in the description:

• p – row;
• p – loop;
• ip – purl loop;
• lp – facial loop;
• ig - purl stitch;
• lg – facial surface;
• ts1 – thread of the same color;
• ts2 – thread of a different color.

Now knit as follows:

• cast on 70 loops;
• 1 R (C1) – LP – IP – LP – IP (elastic band 1x1);
• 2 R (C1) - continue to knit the elastic band IP - LP - IP - LP;
• 3 R (C2) - with a thread of a different color LP - IP - LP - IP;
• 4 R (C2) – IP – LP – IP – LP;

We turn the working fabric over and divide the loops into two knitting needles, 45 P on the left and 25 on the right 18 R (C1) – 19 LP – 2 P at the same time IP. We turn the working canvas 19 R (C1) – 20 IP – 2 P at the same time IP. The work is turned upside down.




Continue knitting the middle 20 P until there are three P left on the sides. Next, in each P, knit 2 P together on each side in the central part, not forgetting to decrease from the sides. Even before the baby arrives, many mothers begin to think about a dowry and try their hand at knitting. Leather small child differs from an adult - it is very tender, easily damaged and irritated. Among other things, the baby’s natural defenses are not so well developed, which means that the dyes used in the manufacture of yarn can cause an allergic reaction in the child.

That is why manufacturers offer a special line of children's yarn that is not so dangerous for the baby.

When choosing the main material for knitting, you should pay attention to hypoallergenicity, naturalness and softness.

Dyes, as already mentioned, are allergens, which is why you should avoid very rich colors, besides, such yarn will shed. It is better to choose a product from a proven brand - “Alize”, “Pekhorka”, etc.

As a rule, these manufacturers add acrylic or microfiber to wool to achieve softness - everyone knows that natural fiber is unpleasantly itchy. The composition of the yarn may vary, if domestic manufacturers more often offer half-wool (merino six in the composition reaches 50%), then a thread from an Italian company may contain only 20% synthetic fiber (for example, the Lana Baby Merinos brand).

If you have any doubts about whether your child will enjoy wearing a product made from the material you are planning to buy, you can do a simple test: just pass a skein over your lips and think about your feelings.

Synthetic and cotton threads are also popular. The first ones produced by latest technology, do not “creak” and, despite the lower price, look quite good. In addition, this material retains heat well and also absorbs sweat and products from the sebaceous glands.

Choose buttons and other decorations that are large and bright so that the child cannot swallow them if they come off. Recently, “stickers” have become popular - stickers on clothes, as well as adhesive embroidery, but such decorations do not stick to wool in the best way.

How to knit an envelope for newborns

Size: 0-6 months.

You will need:

• 250 g of gray yarn;
• 250 g dark gray;

You will need:

• half-wool yarn - about 100 g (200-250 m);
• boucle yarn – 50 g;
• stocking needles No. 3;

• lace.

Knitting description:

Fur ear pads:

1. Cast on 4 loops. Knit with knit stitches crosswise (one on one).
2. In the 3rd and 5th rows, add two loops on each side.
3. Perform rows 6,7,8 without changes.
4. In the 9th, decrease 4 loops - 2 on both sides.
5. Make 2 more rows, close the “eye”.
6. Tie the resulting circles to the workpiece as shown in the very first picture. The hat is ready.

Cap for newborns

Size: for children up to 3 months.

You will need:

• 50 g of wool or wool mixture;

Knitting description:

1. Cast on 60 loops.
   
2. Knit with an elastic band (one by one) 2-3 cm, that is, 8-10 rows.
   
3. Work in stockinette stitch for 30-32 rows, approximately 12 cm from the elastic.
   
4. Divide the knitting into three equal parts, 20 loops each for the sides and back of the head.
   
5. After dividing, knit the front row to the black paperclip, ignoring the red one, after the paperclip, knit two loops into one.
   
6. Knit the next purl row to the red paper clip, repeat the technique of two loops in one after the paper clip. Take out the markers.
   
7. Thus, gaps have formed in the canvas, which are necessary in order to navigate when decreasing the loops.
   
8. Continue knitting, gradually decreasing the sides. There are always 20 loops left in the middle part. After 12 loops remain on the sides, also begin to reduce 6 loops evenly at the back of the head.

You will need:

• wood-colored yarn, half-wool, wool - 3 skeins of 50 g each in different colors, white, blue, gray;
• knitting needles - No. 2.5.

Knitting description:

1. Work the soles in garter stitch (two stitches back and forth = one stitch), odd rows – knit stitch. To do this, you need to cast on 6 loops, then in every second row add one yarn over after and before the edge stitches, so you knit 14. On the 31st row, make one decrease on each side. Then continue knitting until the 44th row, from the 45th start decreasing, knitting two into one on each side and so on until there are 6 open loops left. Knit the second sole.
   
2. For the toe and heel we cast on three loops, on the sides - 25 (12 and 13). Knit a row in satin stitch.
   
3. Next, fill 3.5 cm with an English elastic band.

How to knit a beautiful baby jumpsuit

Size: for newborns up to 6 months.

You will need:

• yarn with a wool content of less than 30%, children's acrylic, cotton, viscose - 250 g;
• knitting needles - circular No. 3, hosiery knitting needles No. 3, for cuffs - No. 2;
• hook for tying No. 2;
• thin lightning.

Knitting pattern with step by step description and photo:

1. The number of loops is calculated from the knitting density (1 * 1 cm) and neck girth, that is, by multiplying the number of loops in one square cm by the length of the neck measurement + 2 cm.
2. For wool, it will be enough to cast on 68 stitches using a cross cast-on.
   
3. Let's move on to the main canvas. Knit the first row in purl stitch, then distribute the stitches on the raglan according to the pattern: 11 stitches for the fronts, 9 for the raglan sleeves, 20 for the back and 8 for the raglans themselves.
   
4. Raglan stripes are knitted purlwise, while the first row - loops are made according to the pattern, but from the wrong side (11 purl, 2 knit, etc. according to the pattern). In the first front row you need to knit short along the sleeves and back.
   
5. Make additions before and after raglans in every second row. Increases are made by knitting 3 stitches from one (knit, yarn over, knit).
   
   
6. Thus, 8 loops are added to each front row.
7. The total length of the raglan is about 13-15 cm, depending on the build and height of the child. The figure shows that 6 increases were made.

For a product with a height of 68-74 cm: the length of the overalls for this height is about 56 cm; the length of the inner surface of the trouser leg is about 20-22 cm, so the height of the overalls to the cut of the pants is 35 cm; it is necessary to make minimal recesses for the zipper (1 cm each).
12. We knit 33 cm in a straight line.

15. Let's move on to the gusset. To do this, start the first row from the mark with one decrease at the beginning and end of the leg, knit the front row, then the purl row. 16. Knit the 6th according to the pattern. It will look like this:

18. Divide the product into two parts according to the attached marker, then turn the knitting and start knitting the legs separately, taking the two outer loops crosswise to prevent the work from being pulled out.
    
19. On the eighth row, bind off four loops again, on the ninth, knit the first two into one, also on the tenth.
20. The trouser legs can be made on five knitting needles or circular so that there is no seam, they can be knitted with a slit and then sewn. You can make narrow and straight wide pants. For an even bevel, decrease in even rows. For straight lines, perform decreases directly in front of the cuff.
    
21. An approximate version of knitting a trouser leg: 30 rows of satin stitch, decrease four stitches (two from the edges), switch to stocking needles, then make another decrease, distribute 11 stitches on four knitting needles, make 11 more circular ones, then with an elastic band.
22. Knit another trouser leg, extend the seam to the recess for the zipper.

31. Work an elastic band 5 cm thick 1*1, finish by closing the knitting.

I do not like knitting patterns, which are directly related to knitting density. I prefer to knit patterns than according to the diagrams.

That's why I decided to look for baby cap pattern and soon I succeeded.

I present to your attention the diagram I constructed.

In the book in which I found this cap pattern, others were also offered, more complex, consisting of several parts, but I chose this very one for knitting a simple pattern, because the knitted fabric stretches relatively easily and takes the desired shape.

The upper part (33 cm) is divided into three equal parts (11 cm each), segments of the same length are laid at the very bottom of the diagram (11 cm each).

To knit I started crochet single crochet from top to bottom.

I used a special one for knitting a cap. baby cotton .

It was very easy for me to knit, since the height of one row with my knitting density was exactly 0.5 cm.

Probably the most difficult thing is to make a decrease in order to knit a small rounding 2 cm high (see in the diagram), this is easier to do if you build a pattern, for example, on a newspaper and simply apply knitting to it, determining whether it is time to finish the row and move on to the next one.

The bend at the very bottom of the part (0.5 cm) causes somewhat less problems.

Narrow part cap(the back one) I had to make striped because the salad skein of cotton was not enough for a whole cap.

This is precisely why the lowest stripe of yellow thread is the widest.

After cap detail tied in the shape of a strange letter T, all that remains is to assemble the cap by making two seams.

Make the seams outward, you don’t want them to put pressure on the delicate baby’s head from inside the cap.

I connected the cap using a crochet hook and yellow thread.

Then, using the same crochet hook, I tied the cap at the front, slightly tightening the knitting (to give the cap a more beautiful shape).

I tied the cap and along the bottom, from the same yellow threads I made and strings(I find them more practical than a button or other fastening options).

Of course, before using it for its intended purpose, the cap must be washed using detergents for children (for example, soap) and ironed.

Decorate the cap can be done in a variety of ways: lace, ribbons, ruffles, embroidery or appliqué.

However, you should not be zealous in this direction, because for happy parents there is nothing more beautiful than the face of their newborn or newborn! :)

Knitted caps. Two-color.

If you have knitted socks, then you know how the heel is knitted.

Cast on 56 loops (this is for 2 or 3 months) knit 4 r. rib 1x1 and then evenly add another 10 stitches, knit with a pattern in in this case This:

1p: k1, p1, and so on until the end of the row.

2p: according to the drawing how the loops lie.

3 rub. Knit purl stitches over the knit stitches, and knit stitches over the purl stitches.

4p: knit according to the pattern.

Knit these 4 rows.

Knit like this for 10 - 12 cm, then divide all the loops into 3 parts and knit like a heel.

Having reached the bottom, we collect loops for the elastic from below along the edge and knit 2 cm with a 1x1 elastic band, leaving 3-5 loops for ropes along the edges.

When the hat is ready along the edges, heels, we cast on loops for the ruffles and intensively add loops (from 1 we make 3), 1 l., from 1-3, etc.

We make an increase only in the 1st row and then knit 4-5 cm in stocking stitch.

We make the second ruffle in exactly the same way, but 3-4 cm.

We tie the edges with cloves (hook).

If you think that the ruffles will hang too loosely, go along the edge, heel, with a needle and thread and pull it a little.
You can try on the hat if you have kids, I knitted 10 stitches more, because I knitted this costume for 6-9 months and it depends on the yarn. My thread was of medium thickness.

I embroidered the flowers with a knitting needle. Yes, if you need a larger size, cast on 65 stitches and then in the last row add 10 = 75. Of course, depending on what the pattern will be. Hat: Cast on 65 loops and knit with an elastic band 1x1 (1 knit, 1 purl), 3 cm. In the last row, add 10 loops and knit with a pattern of 13-14 cm (depending on the child’s head), I have 13 cm on this hat. 13 cm, we knit the cloves, for this we knit in stockinette stitch (knit on the face, and purl on the wrong side), 6 rows, and make holes in the 7th row (if the cloves need to be more visible, then we knit 1 edge stitch, 2 yarn overs, 2 loops together, knit and etc.). We simply knit the 8th row purlwise. Then we knit 4 more rows and then we got 5 rows with the reverse 8th row. With an additional knitting needle, cast on from the wrong side in the initial row of knitting the cloves, the same number of loops as on the main knitting needle. And now we knit the 6th purl row with purl loops, 2 loops together (one loop from the main knitting needle, and the other loop from the second knitting needle that raised the loops) and so on until the end until there are 75 loops again. And now we knit like a heel to a toe. When the hat is ready, cast on 65-62 loops along the bottom edge of the hat and knit with a 1 x 1.3 cm elastic band. In the last row, leave 4 loops at the edges for ties and bind off the remaining loops. Knit the ties in a 1x1 pattern, changing stitches every 2nd row. Purl over the knits, knit over the purls. Up to the length you need the strings. The hat is ready. Of course, you first need to remove all the extra threads from the wrong side.

To make the teeth white, we knit the 7th and 8th rows with white thread.

Pattern for a blue and hot pink hat.

The number of loops is a multiple of 2 + 1 + 2 edge loops.

1st row: (blue thread) knit stitches.
2nd row: (blue thread) knit stitches.
3rd row: (white thread) knit 1, remove 1 (thread at work), knit 1, remove 1 (thread at work), etc. at the end of the row, knit 1, edge 1.
4th row: (white thread) knit 1, remove 1 (thread before work), etc. at the end of the row 1 front and 1 edge.
5th row: (blue thread) all knit stitches.
6th row: (blue thread) all knit stitches.
7th row: (white thread), remove 1 (thread at work), 1 knit, etc. at the end of the row, remove 1 (thread at work) and 1 edge.
8th row: (white thread), remove 1 (thread before work), knit 1, etc. at the end of the row, remove 1 (thread before work) and 1 chrome.

To knit a sample of this pattern, cast on 20 loops from a light thread on the knitting needles and then knit like this:

Row 3 = (dark thread) slip 1 stitch (the thread is behind the knitting needle and stretches along the wrong side), knit 1, etc.

Starting from the 5th row, repeat the pattern.

Using 3.5 mm needles, cast on 34 (40) sts.
Work 8(10) rows with rib knit 1/p 1.
