• Cup what size? Determine your bra size and choose the appropriate model

    19.07.2019

How to find out your size? How to determine your bra cup size? How to choose the right bra? This is not a complete list of questions that every woman faces when choosing lingerie from an unfamiliar brand. Underwear is perhaps the most important item women's wardrobe. It gives you self-confidence and allows you to present your figure in the most advantageous light. Provided it is chosen correctly! You can accurately determine the size of the Florange model you like using data from a universal calculator or tables:

    WE TAKE MEASUREMENTS:

    1) Bust: The measurement is taken at the most protruding points of the chest;

    2) Circumference under the bust: the measurement is taken directly under the chest;

    3) Waist: The measurement is taken using a belt tied tightly around the waist;

    4) Hip circumference: The measurement is taken at the most protruding points of the buttocks.

    IMPORTANT:

    A. When taking measurements, do not raise your hands up. All dimensions are indicated in centimeters for the straightened body.

    B. When choosing between two sizes, choose the larger one.

    C. Measuring breast size correctly is not easy. The ideal option is to have someone take your measurements, but if you have to do it yourself, use our tips.

    D. When making your final choice of size when ordering underwear, please use the fit guide.

The size of the bra depends on the model and style, the quality of the fabric and its elasticity. Remember, every woman's body is unique, so bras of the same size but different styles will not necessarily fit the same woman perfectly. It should be borne in mind that the size range, which is indicated by letters and numbers, is designed for the “average” woman. The larger the chest girth, the larger the cups, and vice versa. That is, a “C” cup for a size 80 will be larger than a “C” for a 75, but smaller than a “C” for an 85.

IT'S USEFUL TO KNOW that a number of sizes are interchangeable. And if a woman wears a bra size 80C, then she should also try on sizes 85B and 75D. It is quite possible that, compared to the usual size, their fit will be better. Such dimensions are called “parallel”. In this case, the depth of cup B with a girth of 85 will be approximately equal to the depth of cup D with a girth of 75.

At first glance, it is not at all necessary to know your bra size exactly, because you can try it on. But fitting is not always possible.

For example, if you are going to buy a gift for your loved one or buy lingerie in an online store, this is impossible. That’s why it’s so important to understand what letters and numbers are used to indicate bra sizes.

How to find out what breast size (how to measure)

The first thing you need to do in order to determine your bra size using the chart, This find out the most basic parameter - breast size. We will build on it. And alphanumeric size designations differ among different manufacturers. We will return to them later.

Measurements are taken with a tailor's measuring tape. We measure the girth under the chest and the girth at the most protruding points of the chest. Moreover, first put on a bra that fits you perfectly, but it should not have any padding.

To determine your bra size using the table, you should familiarize yourself with the alphanumeric Latin notations.

Interesting fact! It is better to entrust the measurements to one of your relatives, so as not to “accidentally” add a couple of extra centimeters to yourself.

You need to do the following:

    1. At first measure the circumference under the bust. The tape should fit well to the body so that the purchased bra does not slip off later.
    2. When measuring the chest, the tape, on the contrary, is not pulled tight so that the new thing does not squeeze the chest and is not tight.

Follow a few simple rules when measuring:

    • stand with your back straight and your arms down;
    • the measuring tape should be parallel to the floor;
    • The circumference under the chest is measured as you exhale.

Remember or write down the measurement result, it is these numbers that will allow you to determine the size of a bra made in both European and Russian production.

We'll talk more about this in the next section.

How to determine bra sizes by letters and numbers (what sizes are there)

Even if you know nothing at all about the alphanumeric designations of bra sizes, you've probably heard that breasts come in sizes 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and larger.

But in most cases, size is indicated by combining a number with a letter of the Latin alphabet. The larger the number and the farther from the beginning of the alphabet the letter is located, the larger the bra size, i.e. an 80C bra is larger in all respects than a 75A bra. But let's figure it out here.

    70, 75, 80, 85, 90 in bra size - what size is that

If you see these numbers on a bra tag, most likely you are looking at a bra made in Russia, Belarus or Germany. It is the manufacturers of these countries who use them to indicate sizes.

They mark nothing more than the girth under the bust. It seems that everything is clear, but the girth will not necessarily be 75 or 80 cm, it may well turn out to be 73 or 82 cm. What to do then?

Bra size - how to determine: the table will help you right choice.

It's simple. The number in the size corresponds to the girth +/– 2 cm, which means that size 75 will suit women with a girth from 73 to 77 cm. Have you noticed several clasps on the bra? These are the ones that allow you to adjust your underwear to size.

AA, A, B, C, D cup size of a bra (bra) - what size is it?

When determining your bra cup size, you will need to perform simple mathematical operations: subtract the circumference under the bust from the chest girth. The resulting number determines the bra cup size. In general, letter designations from A to H are used.

If the difference is less than 10–11 cm, then the cup size is AA or 0, if 12–14, then A or 1, if 15–16, then B or 2 and so on with a tolerance of 2 cm.

How do I know what bra size I'm wearing?

If you have a bra that fits you well, but you don't know what size it is, don't worry about measuring it, instead use the instructions above.

The fact is that during wearing, the bra could stretch and take the shape of your body. It is not a fact that a new bra of this size will fit as well. In addition, there is a high risk of making errors in measurements.

How to correctly determine and choose the size of a bra cup - choose a bra that fits: correspondence table

Using the instructions above, you can already make the right choice.

However there is important feature, which is worth considering if you have the opportunity to try on a bra:

    1. Adjacent sizes that differ in one of the parameters - girth under the bust or cup size. For example, if you are a size 75B and it seems to fit well, but you have to tighten the straps a lot to get the cups to fit your breasts well, try on a size 75A to see if it will fit better. If your bra is a little tight, try size 75C. The fact is that due to the peculiarities of the cut, the same size will “play” differently.
    2. Parallel dimensions. Sizes 75B, 70C, 80A are interchangeable.

Note! A larger cup compensates for a smaller bra band, and vice versa. Therefore, when choosing a bra in a store where you can try on lingerie, try on a couple more bras of parallel sizes.

How to choose plus size bras

Firstly, you need to come to terms with the fact that your breasts are really large and not try to psychologically hide it by choosing wide belt and a small cup - it will sit terribly.

Secondly, having decided on the size, choose a bra of a special cut:

    1. With wide straps. This model will look proportional, and it will hold your breasts much better.
    2. With bones. For big breasts this is required condition, if there are no contraindications. After all, the bones support the breasts and give them shape.
    3. With several hooks at the back. The belt should hold well, but if there is only one hook at the back, you can’t count on it.

Note! Some companies specifically produce models for busty girls; such bras may be marked “full busted”. They are distinguished by a relatively small belt and a large cup, while taking into account the anatomical features of the figure.

When choosing underwear made in Europe, you should know alternative options of your size.

The girl with big breasts Most likely, you will need not only a regular bra, but also a sports bra, which is very comfortable for everyday wear.

How to choose a plus size sports bra

If we are talking about fitness classes, dancing, running, then a sports bra is simply necessary. Similar type bras provide support and press the breasts against the ribcage. If the size is very large, you need to choose sportswear with a division into cups.

It provides better hold. When trying on, look at the straps, they should not cut in, and this is ensured due to the sufficient width and softness of the fabric. The strip of fabric under the bust should be wide.

How to choose plus size front closure bras

Bras with a front clasp are a real boon for busty women. They support the breasts no worse than regular bras, but they are much more comfortable to put on.

Choose models that have a sufficient number of hooks and that there are no too large gaps between the hooks. Otherwise, the requirements are the same as for regular bras.

European bra sizes in different countries - size chart

Not in all countries, manufacturers make do with type 75B designations. On Italian bras you will see designations from 1 to 12, on French and Spanish bras - from 80 to 135, on Australian models from 8 to 30, in English, Ukrainian and American - from 30 to 52.

In addition, international size markings are used - from XS to XXXXL, where XS is 65 cm and XXXXL is 100 cm, respectively.

    Bra size chart - Russia

In the article we provided instructions for determining the size by letters and numbers for bras made in Russia, Belarus and Germany.

Below is a complete table of alphanumeric designations:

    Bra cup size: Aliexpress table

You have already learned how to determine your parameters according to the instructions, but to order underwear that fits your size on Aliexpress, this is not enough. Even the size chart is not a guarantee. Chinese bras run small.

Most likely you you should buy a bra one size larger than yours. To make sure you don’t make a mistake, enter into correspondence with the seller and indicate your exact parameters.

    Faberlic bra size chart

Faberlic catalogs contain a proprietary size table. With its help it is easy to determine, knowing the girth of the chest and under the chest. The designations are familiar. However sizes of models without wires are indicated by letters: S, M, L, and compliance is determined using a separate table.

Milavitsa bra sizes in small and large sizes - tables

Milavitsa bra size designations also have a familiar appearance. Use the table to find your size.

Your bra size is determined by just two parameters. However, the cut and fabric sometimes slightly change the size up or down. In addition, when choosing underwear made in Europe, you should know the alternative options for your size.

Bra sizes. How to determine your bra size, how to choose the right bra

We propose to understand how to determine bra size.

To begin with, let's stop worrying, because... this causes breathing to quicken, and consequently, the volume increases chest what do we need in this case no need at all))).

There is a way to most accurately determine your bra size or the size of your girlfriend; let’s not deprive men of the opportunity to give us gifts, especially since they do it wonderfully. Let's look at everything step by step.

Determining your bra size or how to find out your bra size correctly

    1. Take a measuring tape (this is a soft ruler), but if you don’t have a centimeter, then take any flat tape of sufficient length and an ordinary hard ruler.

    2. Measure yourself under your chest, laying the tape quite tightly, but without pulling the tape under the mammary glands and further along the back at the same level, if you used a centimeter tape, then just look at the resulting number (be careful - we measure from zero, numbers are often put on centimeter tapes with divisions on both sides, otherwise the result may unnecessarily upset you), but if you are using a simple braid, then after measuring the girth, attach it to the ruler and get the result in numbers. Record the measurement (eg 72 cm). By the way, this measurement must be done on a naked body. Fig.1

    3. Next, we measure the chest itself, lay a measuring tape along the most protruding points of the chest and then along the shoulder blades, along the back, still laying the tape quite tightly, but in no case deforming the mammary glands. In this case, you can first put on a bra that you especially like, i.e. your chest is in it. It is necessary to take into account that if you are wearing a push-up bra (a molded cup made of foam rubber with a thickening under the bust), then after measurements you will need to subtract 1 cm, this is an error. If you are wearing a “soft cup” bra (the bra cup is made simply from fabric, without additional padding), then we do not adjust the measurements. Record the measurement (e.g. 88 cm). Fig.2

    Rice. 1 Fig.2

    5. Bras are marked with a number and a letter next to it (for example, 75B),

the number indicates the circumference under the bust, the letter indicates the cup size.

    6. We look at our number from point 2 (72 cm), in the markings on the bras:

70; 75; 80; 85; 90; 95, etc. (the step from size to size is 5 cm). There is a nuance here: the bra clasps have three rows of loops in 1cm increments, this makes it possible to adjust the tightness of the girth under the bust, i.e. our measurement is 72 cm, we choose a bra marked size “70”. It is always better to choose a lower value because... During wear and washing, the fabric stretches slightly.

    7. To determine your bra cup size, you need to subtract the measurement of the circumference under the bust (measurement step 2) from the measurement of the circumference of the chest (measurement step 3) (for example, 88cm-72cm = 16 cm).

We look at the resulting value in the table:

A difference of 12 cm means you are an A cup

    14 cm Cup B

    16cm Cup C

    18cm D Cup

    20 cm E cup

    22cm F Cup

    24 cm G cup

In our example, the result was cup C, because... the difference was 16 cm, which means the bra size is “70C”!

Bra models. How to choose a bra

Choosing a bra is quite easy. Having determined your bra size, we move on to choosing models and types of bras depending on your preferences.

This article will help you choose the right bra.

Trendcode is presented in the online store of clothing and women's underwear wide choose bras. You can choose and order bras on our website in the sections:

In fact, bra cup size is a very relative concept. Perhaps the biggest misconception about bra sizing is the myth that a D cup is the same for all bras regardless of size, or that if you have small breasts, a bra with an A cup will automatically fit you. In fact, the cup is always proportional to the volume of the bra; this means that its size depends on your breast size. For example, a 32D bra is smaller in volume than a 36D bra, but each has a D cup size.

Find out how a properly fitted bra should look and fit. There are several indicators of whether a bra fits you or not. Here's what you should pay attention to when trying on and selecting bras of different sizes:

    • Band tightness: The band is the fabric that goes around the chest outside the cup and is what supports the breasts, not the harnesses. The gap between the fabric and the body can be no more than two fingers wide.
    • Sufficient girth. A good bra should not have fabric sticking out from the cups or near the armpits. If the bra has an underwire, you should evaluate the underwire coverage—if the end of the underwire points toward the middle of your armpit, it's a good fit.
    • A strip of fabric between the cups. It should fit snugly to the chest and not cut into the skin. If it causes you discomfort, the bra is chosen incorrectly.
    • The breasts should not fall out of the bra. This usually happens when the cup is too small. Look for options that will fit your figure and not create discomfort.
  • Do you know that there are breasts? different shapes? Have you ever encountered the problem that your bra fits but doesn't fit you? Most likely, you have chosen a bra that does not suit your breast shape. Here are possible solutions to the problem:

    • Small, shallow breasts that barely protrude. For this, a Balconette or a bra with soft cup. Avoid deep bras.
    • Saggy or lumpy breasts: If your breasts are narrow at the base but the actual amount of tissue is drooping a little, don't despair. Look for a bra with underwires that are separated by cups - such a bra will fit your breasts well. Avoid bras with soft cups.
  • Don't forget about adjacent sizes. If you find a bra that fits well but not perfectly, try on a model in an adjacent size. This way you can adjust for differences between manufacturers.

    • Try an adjacent size: Reduce your bust size by 2, but go for a larger cup. For example, instead of 90 C, take 86 D.
    • Try an adjacent size: increase your bust size by 2, but use the same cup. For example, you can take 88 D instead of 90 C.
  • Explore different systems bra size measurements. There are currently two of them (see below for more details). Modern system measurements are used by most manufacturers, but some prefer to use the traditional sizing system. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find out exactly what system a particular brand implies. But still, it is possible to increase your chances of buying what you need:

    • If you are trying on a bra in a store, find out what size fits you in different models.
    • If you order lingerie online, find a site with a flexible product return system.
  • Be careful with professional measurers. Asking a professional to measure you is a great idea if you're starting from scratch - they can advise you on which bra styles will suit you. But it is worth considering several nuances:

    • Avoid stores with a limited selection of products. A sales consultant in such an establishment may sell you the first bra he comes across, instead of the one that suits you in size. Before you come for a fitting, make sure that the store has bras in small and large sizes (D and above). It is best to shop in large shopping centers with a wide range of products.
    • Ask to be measured in two ways. Then you will have an idea of what to do if some company produces underwear in the wrong size.
    • Before taking measurements, remove your bra. If you are measured over your bra, you will receive wrong result. If you are too modest, wear a thin, tight T-shirt naked body, having previously removed underwear.

    Modern measurements

Measure your chest volume. This is the easiest part of the process - your volume is relatively stable.

Determine your cup size. Remember that cup size is relative number, it is proportional to the volume of the chest.

    Check how your bra fits

Try on a bra with the desired cup size and volume. Don't assume this size is accurate until you've tried on several bra styles, and even then, you may need a different size (if the product is a different brand or type).

  • Wear your bra correctly. All soft breast tissue should be contained in the cup.

    • After you have taken off your bra, the harnesses need to be stretched. Lower your arms along them so that your breasts fall into the cups.
    • Secure your bra with hooks. Don't worry about them being difficult to fasten; if you want to visually reduce your figure, then you should tighten them tighter.
    • Bend over, grab the underwires and shake them from side to side to make sure the cups fit correctly.
    • Place your hands on both sides of the cups and bring your breasts together.
    • Adjust the length of the harness. Pull them down from your shoulders and adjust the sliders so that the harnesses are in place but not digging into your shoulders.
  • Check your bra size. A bra with the right volume is comfortable to wear. (The volume of the bra is less than the volume of the chest). The bra should fit tightly in order to support the breasts and prevent them from hanging limply down on the harness.

    • There should be a small gap between the strip of fabric that adds volume and the back, but it should not be too large. The rule is that it should be large enough to get through thumb between the ridge and the bra.
    • The bra should fit if you fasten it on the outermost loops, but be too tight if you fasten it on the narrowest loop. Bras are made to size, so tightening them leads to loss of elasticity.
    • If the bra is so spacious that you can fasten it with the tightest loops, try choosing a bra with a smaller volume. Remember that cup size varies depending on volume; By increasing one, you decrease the other and vice versa.
    • If your bra is too tight, try increasing your cup size; when it's too small, even a bra with the right volume may not fit well. If going up your cup size, even a few sizes, doesn't help, try going up in size and downsizing your cup. But start with the first method.
  • Check your cup size. The cup has right size in the case when it is completely filled and not half empty, but at the same time the breasts should not fall out of it, this also applies to bras with a push-up effect.

    • Check for any bulges in the cups – not just in the front, but also under the arms.
    • Make sure the underwire covers the entire chest along the ribs.
    • Check the fit of the bra in the armpits to make sure the underwires are properly aligned with your ribs and not soft fabric. If they cut into the sides of your chest, you need a bra. bigger size. Also, keep in mind that if you wear a bra with too much volume and a small cup, you may develop a hump on your back. Therefore, choose the right bra.
    • If the underwire cuts into your ribs in the center, you may need a bra with a smaller cup, or one with a deep cup but low in the middle (the cup is the problem, not the volume). Perhaps these frictions are simply related to the structure of the chest. In this case, wait until the bra stretches in this area and see how it fits. If it doesn't fit, buy another one.
    • If you think your cup is too small but you're not sure, try wearing a bra with a larger cup to check. As a rule, after such a test you will be able to understand which one fits better.
  • Evaluate how the bra will look with the top. So, you've found a new bra that, unlike your old one, fits you well. It's time to determine what effect it has on your figure! If you're trying on a T-shirt, your bra should highlight your bulge underneath your clothing.

    • If you look in the mirror, you can determine that your chest is between your elbow and shoulder in the middle.
    • The right bra will provide support for your breasts and highlight their line. Many people have found that their clothes fit better with the right bra. If your bust line has sagged because of the wrong bra, change it and you can wear a smaller size.
    • A T-shirt that fits you well will highlight all the bulges of a cup that is too small for you; if the bra cup is almost empty, the outline will also be visible. The bra should be chosen in such a way that it does not show through thin clothing. If you need to make your bra invisible, choose seamless styles that will blend into your skin tone rather than camisoles.
    • A common concern is that a small bra will bulge in the back, but in reality these bulges are caused by the bra riding up from being too big. You need to find a model that will fit snugly against your back in a horizontal position and will not stick out back.

    Traditional measurement

Measure your chest while standing at the highest point of your chest (try to keep the tape measure straight so it doesn't slide down your back). Subtract your chest measurement from the resulting number to determine your size.

    • Less than two and a half centimeters = AA
    • 2.5 cm = A
    • 5cm=B
    • 7.5 cm = C
    • 10 cm = D
    • 12.5cm = DD
    • 15cm = DDD (E in UK)
    • 17.5 cm = DDDD/F (F in UK)
    • 20 cm = G/H (FF in UK)
    • 22.5cm = I/J (G in UK)
    • 25 cm= J (GG in UK)
    • There is no need to buy a low quality bra or a bra that doesn't fit your size just because it is cheaper. Remember that everyone gets what they pay for. Therefore, it is better to buy one expensive bra that will fit you well, rather than three cheap but uncomfortable ones.
    • If you want your bras to keep their shape longer and not stretch, you shouldn't wear the same bra two days in a row, even if it's washed. You should have at least three replacement bras that you can wash and wear one at a time so that their elasticity is restored before you put them on yourself.
    • Don't assume that any bra of the same size will suit you. Any bra needs to be tried on before you buy it. How a bra fits is much more important than what it says on the tag. Different types bras suitable for various forms breasts, so two women who wear the same size in one type may need a completely different one in another.
    • In a properly selected bra, the breasts will be supported 90% by the volume band, and only 10% by the straps.
    • If your size is not a whole number, round up. You can adjust the size by tightening the straps. If the difference in size is too significant, you can purchase a silicone bra or a bra with detachable parts in a narrow place.
    • Don't listen to other people's advice about what your bra size should be based on your measurements, especially if they tell you to add a few centimeters to the volume under your breasts. As with dress sizes, methods of measuring bra sizes change over time, and the old method will not work with modern bras.
    • However, everything stated above will only allow you to form a general idea of what size you should try on first. All women have different body structures, so even if two ladies have the same measurements, they may fit completely different bra sizes.
    • Bras in size D+ will look better with seams. The cups of bras with seams consist of two or more parts. Bras with seams (especially three-piece bras) support your breasts much better than molded bras and will make you appear slimmer.
    • Many companies that make bras claim that the most small size bra - 28, but, in fact, many women wear smaller sizes (20, 22, 24, 26). And all because the material from which bras are made is elastic and can stretch. But, unfortunately, due to the fact that it is not profitable for manufacturing companies to produce products of such sizes, you will not find such bras during the day. Modified bras could solve the problem, but there is no guarantee that the underwire will not cut into your body. If you have a custom-made bra, buy yourself a bra that is one size smaller in volume and two smaller in cup size. Since volume and cup are proportional to each other, a bra with a smaller cup but more volume will fit the same as one with a larger cup but less volume.
    • Cup sizes above D can vary greatly from one manufacturer to another, so read the description carefully or read customer reviews online before purchasing the product.
  • Most women coming to a lingerie store are lost in sizes and this is not surprising, since there are a huge number of size tables and almost every lingerie manufacturer has its own size table for both bras and panties. However, there are general principles definitions, knowing which you can choose your underwear with 99% probability. And knowledge of these principles is especially useful when ordering underwear in an online store.

You may have already read our article "", which also told us how to determine your bra size. Here, we will try to delve into this topic and give you as much information as possible to determine bra sizes not only in Russia, but also in many other countries in Europe and America.

To correctly and as accurately as possible determine your bust size, and correspondingly bra size, you need to measure your underbust and chest circumference correctly. Before you start measuring, you should wear a suitable normal bra. His main criterion is that he should not minimize or exaggerate your breasts.

We measure the circumference under the chest

To measure the circumference under the chest, first stand up straight, exhale, and then use a centimeter to measure the circumference of the chest directly under the chest. When measuring, you need to make sure that the centimeter is parallel to the floor.

    Measuring chest circumference

Chest circumference is measured in centimeters (parallel to the floor) at the most protruding point on the chest. The tape measure should lie as tightly as possible, but not compress the chest.

How to determine your bra size correctly

There is quite simple circuit determining bra size and fullness of the calyx. To do this you need to follow these steps:

    1. measure the circumference under the chest (example: 71 cm);
    2. from table No. 1 we get the bra size (we get 70);
    3. change the breast size according to the principle described above (example: 84 cm);
    4. subtract the size of item 1 from item 3 (84-71 = 13 cm);
    5. Determine the size of the fullness of the bra cup from table No. 2.
