However, older children will probably want to do something more original. An active mother proposes to deviate from tradition in favor of originality and sophistication and, with the help of mothers, make children a stylish non-standard paper lantern that will decorate the New Year's interior.

For work you will need the following materials:

    • 2 sheets of A3 watercolor paper (can be replaced with drawing sheets or whatman paper)
    • eraser, ruler, pencil
    • stationery knife
    • thin double-sided tape or glue stick
    • adhesive moment “Crystal”
    • a small piece of white tulle

Master class on making a paper lantern with your own hands

First, on a sheet of paper we make a drawing of the future flashlight using this template:

    Cut out patterned “windows” (curls).

Cut out the entire part completely.

We cut the tulle into pieces, the size of which should be slightly larger than the “windows” and, using instant glue, glue the crystal onto the patterns from the inside. Waiting for it to dry.

We turn the part over to the front side and lightly go over the folds with a stationery knife so that the paper can be transformed more easily.

Bend the edges and glue them together using thin double-sided tape or pencil glue.

Decorate the bottom edge with decorative ribbon.

The main part is ready, all that remains is to make the upper part of the flashlight. We also make a drawing according to the template and cut it out. On the line with arcs, we cut only the arcs and turn them upward.

Bend the corners and glue the edges.

Glue the top part to the main part and close the joint decorative ribbon. With its help we decorate the top of the lantern. Add confetti stars.

Finally, we make a loop (holder). To do this, cut out a 3x3 cm square and a 8x1 cm strip. Glue the edges of the strip to the inside of the square. Finally, we attach it to the top.

    The flashlight is ready!

Making a New Year's lantern from cardboard

Author: Marina Valerievna Belyaeva, teacher of special and general education disciplines, State Budgetary Educational Institution JSC Secondary Professional Education "Astrakhan College of Computer Science"

Description of work: This development is intended for older children school age, teachers and parents.
Purpose of the master class: original decoration for the Christmas tree.

    Goals and objectives:
Introduce the simplest techniques for using the Decoupage napkin technique
To help master class participants in their desire to make their work practically meaningful.

He'll be coming to us soon New Year, already yesterday we began to put the house in order, decorate the Christmas tree, decorate the house. And every time I want to create something unusual that can surprise my guests.
In my master class I want to show how in just a week we will create a New Year's lantern under the Christmas tree, which will original decoration your room.

Master class on creating a New Year's lantern from cardboard

    We will need:
    Cardboard at least 3mm thick
Ring 4cm high, cut from a cardboard base toilet paper
Three-layer napkins with New Year's ornaments
    Scissors
    Decoupage glue or PVA glue
    White water-based paint
    Latex putty
    Sandpaper (zero grade)
    Stationery knife
    Pliers
Decoupage varnish or quick-drying varnish for interior work
    Glue "Titan"
    Awl
    Double-sided tape
    Acrylic paints
    Brushes for glue and varnish
    Compass
    Aluminum wire
    Working surface

    Progress:

    1. Cut out blanks for the flashlight from cardboard:
    Square size 13 cm*13 cm – 2 pieces
    Square size 10 cm*10 cm – 2 pieces
    Rectangles measuring 14 cm*10 cm – 4 pieces

    Rectangles measuring 0.7 mm * 10 cm

    2. For the upper part of the flashlight, we draw circles with a radius of 1.5 cm on two squares (large and small) using a pencil, ruler and compass

    3. For the bottom of the flashlight, we draw circles with a radius of 2.5 cm on two squares (large and small) using a pencil, ruler and compass

    4. On two rectangles, using a pencil and a ruler, draw the inner rectangles for later cutting.

    5. The next step is to use a stationery knife to cut out the inside of the blanks along the drawn lines.
    6. Using PVA stationery glue, glue squares of different sizes together

    7. Next, we coat our blanks with varnish. I use quick drying varnish for interior work.

    8. After drying, I cover all the ends with putty and let it dry for 24 hours.

    9. Next, I sand the parts with sandpaper and coat them with varnish again.

    10. The next step is to cover the workpieces with white water-based paint using a sponge

    11. After the parts have dried, we begin new stage– decoupage of the side parts of our flashlight. For this we will need napkins with a New Year's motif, glue and decoupage brushes.

    12. For a three-layer napkin, separate the bottom two layers

    13. Place the napkin pattern on the side of the workpiece and coat the surface with glue. If unevenness and glue bubbles appear, carefully use your index finger to level and press the napkin onto the workpiece.

    14. Next, carefully tear off the edges of the napkin with your fingers, slightly pressing the irregularities to the edge of the parts.
Note: It is not always possible to glue the napkin evenly onto the part, especially if it concerns large surfaces. But I found a new way out for myself. First we cover the part with glue. Let it dry thoroughly. After this, we apply the napkin pattern, parchment or cotton cloth on top and iron the surface with a hot iron. The result is a 100% flat surface. All that remains is to coat the edges with glue and you’re done!

    15. Next, we begin to paint the inner sides of the side parts and the upper and lower blanks of the flashlight. To do this, stir the blue acrylic paint with water-based emulsion and using a sponge, “smack” the surfaces. After painting, let it dry for 24 hours. After drying, coat all parts with varnish

    16. After drying, we begin to create windows in the side parts of the lanterns.
To do this we need transparent film, double-sided tape and scissors.
We cut out rectangles from the film of the required size and glue them to the side parts with double-sided tape

    17. The main and slightly labor-intensive step is assembling all the side parts using Titan glue. I coat all the ends of the parts with glue one by one and let them dry for 2-3 minutes, and then I just connect the side parts to the bottom of the workpiece. The parts take a day to dry.

Note: I don't glue one side part. Then I will simply insert it into the ends so that I can insert a small electronic lamp inside
    18. In the same way we glue the upper part of the part. And let it dry well. For strength, I place a cast iron frying pan on top of the lantern. We also glue the painted parts on the top of the lantern.

One of the simplest New Year's decorations that you can do with your own hands - these are paper lantern. Bright and colorful paper lanterns will decorate not only christmas tree, but will also serve good design rooms. Making such a craft will not be difficult. Even a child can handle it. I'll tell you how to make bright lanterns from colored paper with your children. Let's craft together!

What you need to make a paper lantern

    • colored paper,
    • scissors,
    • glue,
    • pencil and ruler.

Making a paper lantern with your own hands

Prepare several sheets of colored paper. Bright and two-color lanterns look much more impressive on the New Year tree than simple white crafts. If you are doing a craft with children, you can invite the children to choose the color of paper for the flashlight themselves.

Flashlights can be made contrasting - red-black, yellow-green, white-blue. The most interesting thing is that you can then collect all the lanterns into a large New Year's garland.

    1. Prepare two sheets of colored paper. Using scissors, cut out two rectangles from paper: one 7x13 cm, and the second 9.5x13 cm. One rectangle will be the inner cylinder of the flashlight ( white), and the second - a skirt (blue).
    2. Roll the white rectangle into a tube, coat the edge with glue and glue the cylinder together.
    3. Blue paper fold in half long side and use a pencil to mark the paper with marks every 0.5 cm. Cut the paper with scissors (as shown in the photo) without cutting 1 cm to the edge.
    4. Carefully glue the colored skirt to the white cylinder.
    5. Cut out a thin strip of paper for the flashlight handle. Drop a drop of glue onto the ends of the strip and glue the paper pen to the flashlight. Your New Year's lantern is ready!

You can vary the size of the flashlight, improvise with the color and width of the skirt, and then you will have your own individual New Year's craft.

I wish you pleasant creativity and many, many bright paper lanterns!

Paper lanterns are a wonderful decoration for a home holiday or party. How to make them quickly and at minimal cost - read on.

It is better to make a New Year's lantern from paper of two contrasting colors. Cut out a rectangle 10x18 cm in one color and a slightly wider one (12x18 cm) in another. Bend the wider rectangle in half lengthwise and, not reaching 1 cm from the edge, make cuts from the fold line to the edge at a distance of 0.5-1 cm from each other. Unbend this rectangle, as in diagram “c”. Roll the narrower rectangle into a cylinder and glue or staple the edges. Make a flashlight “handle” from a strip of paper and attach it to the base. Now wrap the “openwork” piece around this base and secure it with glue or staples along the top and bottom edges. The top of the lanterns can be decorated with sparkles, hearts, stars or circles. Decorative paper lanterns can become the highlight of your interior. For the New Year, they can decorate the Christmas tree, and for Halloween, they can symbolize a pumpkin. To make them, cut more than 10 strips (the number is not limited) of the same width and length (make 1x10 cm for testing, and then to your taste). Make punctures at a distance of 0.5-1 cm from the edge at both ends of the strips. Thread a thick, strong thread through these holes, fasten the thread well with a knot on one side, or even better, reinforce it with a paper “seal” (glue a circle of paper onto the knot, as in Fig. 2), and on the other, pull the free end of the thread so that paper strips bend into the arc you want, then secure the other end of the rope. Now fan out the strips evenly in a circle to form a ball. many identical blanks in the shape of a circle, oval or triangle and, starting from the bottom edge, glue them in layers in a circle to get the effect of “scales”. You can bring coziness to a gazebo, terrace or winter garden with the help of a paper street lamp. Print out the template and cut out the corresponding blank from cardboard or thick paper. Paint it over desired color

. Instead of glass, you can glue parchment paper or plastic from toy packaging. And then give free rein to your taste and imagination; you can create an antique effect using foil or paint with a metallic sheen; you can decorate it with beads, artificial berries or flowers.
