• Where are the chevrons sewn onto the security uniform? Regulations on the dress code of security company employees. Security chevrons: how to sew

    29.06.2020

The chevrons on a security guard's uniform are symbols of the difference between representatives of the security service and other civilians. Today it is compiled according to existing standards and requirements. Read on to find out what types of chevrons there are based on material, how to properly sew chevrons onto a security guard’s uniform, and what kind of badges to choose for security.

Regulations for the placement of chevrons

There are standard rules that prescribe how security chevrons should be located. They contain information on how the security guard's stripes should be located and where to sew them on. However, some private enterprises change the rules for their own reasons.

Regulation of the location of stripes on the security uniform according to the charter

The legislation of the Russian Federation provides for the existence of a charter with the rules prescribed in it. Those who do not have it use the general principles of a recommendatory nature. Enterprises that manufacture such products to order in Russia create sleeve, back, head and chest models.

    Security guard uniform requirements

There are no uniform requirements for security uniforms and how to sew chevrons onto a security guard’s uniform and at what distance. Various legislative acts contain only some information about the appearance of a person while performing official duties. This document states that the appearance should emphasize the status of a protected object.

Emphasizing the status of the guard

In addition, stripes must be present everywhere. They need to be sewn onto the back, chest of the shirt, headdress and sleeve. The inscriptions should also emphasize the business status. The color of the uniform may be standard or match the existing corporate style of the facility.

    Color according to corporate style

Note! In some situations the requirements are opposite. Clothes should be comfortable and inspire confidence among clients. The kits must be selected individually, regardless of the season and the specifics of the security service. The form must be selected taking into account the presence or absence of heating.

Naturally, any form should be comfortable and not attract undue attention. Every guard should be experienced craftsman disguise and, if possible, get to the potential criminal and detain him. Therefore, the uniform often acts as a convenient camouflage.

    Types of chevrons by material

Chevrons are embroidered, plastisol and sublimation.

The former are strong, durable, not deformable and do not fade in sunlight. Paints with clear lines should remain that way for a long time.

The second ones are created from first-class cloth and Sanbond for the lining. Instead of cloth, mixed nylon, leather, denim and any other material can be used.

    Plastisol type

Still others are formed from threads and processed using Velcro tape. They are also attached using thermal film. There is an option with a pin. They are often produced with loops for sewing.

    Sublimation type

    Benefits of embroidering patches

The security uniform is exposed to the weather, namely snow, rain, wind and sunlight. The embroidery does not lose its brightness with quality. The advantage of sewing a product onto a uniform is its durability. If the uniform breaks and becomes thinner, then the patch is gone.

Preserving the durability of the product when worn

It can be cut off from an old type of suit and sewn onto a new one, if the product is embroidered in a high-quality manner. In addition, the product is well preserved after numerous washes.

Preservation of product quality during numerous washes

    Sewing on the finished patch

Sewing a finished patch on your own is possible either by machine or by hand after studying materials on how to properly sew patches on a security guard’s clothing. By machine method, namely using sewing machine, it is not recommended to sew the product onto a pea coat, since unwanted types of stitches may appear that are not visible from the outside and spoil the whole idea.

It’s easy to make your own ready-made patch on clothes by hand. It is enough to use a ready-made master class. Often when step-by-step instruction is not required if you know a special hidden stitch to create an invisible fastening.

So, all that is required is to take the clothes and figure out the placement of the product. To prevent it from falling or moving when sewing, you need to pin it or secure it with double-sided tape or a pin. If the product has a complex shape, more fastening points should be used.

Note! The product can be sewn onto any jacket or trousers. It can also be placed on a gun case or other work items.

You should make sure that the product does not fidget when sewing. Then you will get an accurate result. It is worth taking a pin with a needle, press it to the product, and carefully pierce it from the back to the front. If the item has a dense structure, you need to pierce it with force. This should be done carefully to avoid damage to the front part.

One more in the old-fashioned way To create a patch, you need to trace it with chalk. This way there is no need to secure the product itself. It is enough to sew along the drawn line.

    Sewing the finished product yourself

    Emblems on hats

Security emblems on hats can be either steel or embroidered. As a rule, the latter is created using reflective threads or those that glow in the dark. This helps the security guard in a night or dark room. Not every uniform contains headdresses, but sometimes it is necessary to apply the emblem to this area. In such situations, the private security company or security emblem is used instead of the inscription. It is located on the front side in the central part.

Chevrons on Russian Railways security uniforms

The chevrons on the Russian Railways security uniform are used to increase the rating of the private security company. When creating such things, a coat of arms with a flag is used, namely with two state symbols. Sometimes they are needed for better recognition of symbolism. An ancient type of heraldry is often used. Lions with bears on the emblem speak of courage with the courage of their own owners.

    Cost of stripes

The cost of security patches depends on the size, type, quantity, use of identification special characters, the use of reflective threads that glow in the dark, and other factors. Often it also depends on the presence of complex decorative elements in the form of ancient heraldry. For example, the price of a chevron with the inscription CHOP or Security is less than the price of a patch with a flag Russian Federation and a coat of arms.

Note! The highest price is for a product that was commissioned by a company with individual design sketches and symbols. It is worth pointing out that often each of them has a plastic part glued on. This makes the final product look more expensive than it actually is.

Cheapness of products as the main difference

The placement of chevrons on the uniform of a security service representative must be in accordance with GOST. Their location, choice of fabric and application of the patch are regulated by existing legislation. It is important that the emblems are also present on headdresses. You can select, buy and sew on any patches yourself using the simple instructions given above.

The work of a security guard in large populated areas has become quite widespread. Special attention is given to the uniform of the security worker, which gives the employee a neat appearance and distinguishes him from other people inside and outside the premises. The need for such clothing arose during the period of massive emergence of security companies. Due to wear and tear, the mold needs to be replaced periodically.

    Security guard uniform requirements

For security guards' uniforms, practicality during work is important. Security company personnel serve not only indoors, but also outdoors. This the process is underway continuously throughout the day, in any weather. In emergency circumstances, a security officer must respond quickly. The uniform should protect against unfavorable environmental factors - wind, high or low air temperature, precipitation, and also ensure freedom of movement. The fabric used for sewing must be resistant to general types dirt and mechanical friction, if necessary, have a water-repellent impregnation.

Workwear for security officers includes suits - summer and winter “Strike” (jacket + trousers); shirts (long or short sleeves), ties and trousers for indoor work; headwear (hats and caps, winter and summer); jumpers, sweatshirts and T-shirts. The material for the uniform is knitwear (wool with acrylic, pan; cotton) and mixed fabrics (polyester with cotton, viscose; polyester with spandex; Oxford) fabrics. Color options include camouflage, grey, blue, light blue, brown and black. Particularly important are accessories such as stripes and chevrons, which distinguish security workers from each other.

Purpose of stripes and chevrons, their placement and methods of fixation

Chevrons and stripes on a security guard's uniform inform surrounding people about his functions, personal data and the name of the company.

According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, all private companies (including security companies) operate in accordance with the charter. It determines the procedure and conditions for the functioning of the company, and may also contain requirements for appearance personnel, placement of chevrons on uniforms and stripes. If such rules are not written down, it is necessary to use generally accepted recommendations.

The longest patch (up to 20 - 30 cm) is attached to the back, and the image should be in the center, and the text should be at the level of the person’s shoulder blades. The chevron is placed 8-10 cm below the shoulder seams. On the left sleeve is the name of the security company, on the right are the generally accepted emblems (the inscriptions “Security” or “Security”, an image of a sword, etc.). A patch with the employee’s surname and name is attached to the left breast pockets, and the blood type is placed on the right. This arrangement of stripes and chevrons on security guards’ clothing is advisory in nature.

Inscriptions and images for chevrons or stripes are made using various printing methods or machine embroidery on fabric. The following inscriptions are applied to the stripes:

    • security;
    • security;
    • security Service;
    • security officer.

Patches come in the form of strips (sizes 120×30, 125×35, 250×75, 255×78 and 296×77 mm) or arcs (30×118 and 33×120 mm). The difference between stripes is that they are placed on the front or middle of the headdress or on T-shirts, shirts, jackets (back or chest).

Chevron is intended for clothing sleeves. In addition to the word “Security”, they depict a shield, sword and symbols of Russia (coat of arms, flag). The chevrons are the same in shape, their dimensions are 99x85, 104x87 and 105x89 mm.

There are several ways to attach chevrons and stripes to your uniform. The most convenient way is to use Velcro. You can glue them using thermal film and an iron. The most reliable method is to correctly sew these elements to the form. This is done on a machine using a sewing stitch.

Private security companies (PSCs) differ from private security companies in that they independently develop their own protective clothing. Like the uniform itself, the insignia periodically needs to be replaced.

What regulates the placement of chevrons on a security guard’s uniform?

There are standard rules governing placement of chevrons on a security guard's uniform, but some private enterprises change them and are guided by their own considerations. The legislation of the Russian Federation requires each private enterprise to have a charter, and it, in turn, may contain the following rules: how to sew stripes on a security guard uniform. For those who have not noted this in their Charter, apply general principles, which are advisory in nature. Enterprises that manufacture custom-made products divide them into several groups: sleeves, chest pieces, “Blood type”, back or headgear.

Correct placement of chevrons on a security guard's uniform

    1. Patches are sewn onto a uniform jacket:
    - in the back; - on the right and left sleeve; - on the right and left chest pocket s; - headdress.
    1. First of all, the largest chevron is applied. Its length is 20-30 cm, called CHOP, attached in the back, in the upper part, 8-10 cm from the shoulder seams. Most often this is the designation of the service: “Security”, “Security Service”, “security”. If there is an image on it, it is placed in the center of the back.
    2. A patch with the company name or the designation of a specific private security company is located on the right sleeve (8-10 cm from the shoulder seam). Common inscriptions include “Shift Manager”, “Security Officer”, “Duty Officer”.
    3. On the left is sewn the general emblem of the Russian security services: shield and sword, logo, etc. On the left sleeve there is a chevron common to all security structures.
    4. The blood type designation is placed on the right breast pocket. The employee's first and last name is on the left.
    5. An emblem or inscription indicating the service is placed on the cap or cap. The correct location is above the forehead, in the center.

These rules are not strict; they must be based primarily on the CHARTER of the enterprise itself.

How to sew patches on a security guard uniform

To place a chevron on a form, first of all, use the following types of fixation:
    • Bonding with thermal film using an iron.
If there is a thermal film applied to the reverse side of the chevron, then gluing the information will be quite simple. First of all, you need to mark the place where you plan to stick the information. After this, remove the protective layer from the thermal film. Apply tightly to the application site, smoothing the product on a flat surface. Next, iron the chevron with an iron at the maximum allowed temperature. IMPORTANT! Follow the information on the product label and do not exceed the maximum permissible temperature. To avoid burning the fabric, you can use gauze or iron the chevron on the back of the product. We recommend paying special attention to the corners of the chevron. After ironing the patch for 15-20 seconds, make sure that everything is glued. Congratulations, now you know how to glue a chevron to a security guard's uniform.
    • Fastening with Velcro type velcro.
In this case, everything is quite simple. To implement it, you need to fix the Velcro on the guard’s uniform and on the back of the chevron. In this case, you will be able to wear a security guard uniform not only while working. For example, by removing the identification chevrons you can use it in everyday life.
    • Sewing with a stitch on a sewing machine.
This method requires knowledge of using a sewing machine. However, this method is not suitable for everyone. In this regard, a particularly popular way of placing a chevron on a guard’s uniform was and remains hand-sewn:
    • Hand sewing is the easiest custom method.
It should be noted that many chevron models are produced on an adhesive basis and are quite easy to attach.

    Manufacturing

The most popular manufacturing methods are embroidery, photo printing, plastisol pressing. High-quality embroidery is very popular. First of all, it is so durable that when replacing a uniform, the embroidered insignia can be altered. Embroidered models can contain inscriptions, logos, emblems, and stylish insignia. As a rule, they are ordered individually, taking into account the wishes of the customer. There can be many design options, for example, metallic chevrons, 3D pictures, luminous, with sequins and rhinestones. Plastisol chevrons are similar to the signs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, special forces, and police. Plastisol (PVC) or polyvinyl chloride segments are applied to the cloth base using heat pressing. These durable and environmentally resistant stripes are used for large security companies. As a result, you can choose the chevron you need based on the intended method of attachment.
