    The binding agent is the adhesive composition. The most common options are:

    1. Regular office glue or . It is most suitable for simple crafts performed by younger children preschool age.
    2. Wallpaper glue. Easy to prepare, which ensures wide application.
    3. Paste. You can prepare it yourself by dissolving starch in boiling water while stirring.

    To impart certain properties to the mixture, other components are additionally introduced. Gives plasticity to the mass vegetable oil And . To give strength to the crafts after hardening, gypsum, alabaster or putty is added to the raw material.

    Attention! Each master has his own secrets for preparing papier-mâché and adjusts the recipe experimentally in his own way.

    The technology for making papier-mâché crafts includes several stages:

    1. Preparation of starting material.
    2. Forming the foundation. Several options can be used. - the mass is laid out on a flat surface in the form. Thin-walled - a complex shape is covered with a thick mixture, and the mass repeats all the depressions and bulges. A typical example is masks. Volumetric figures- they are formed on a frame or by analogy with plasticine. This way you can make dolls and...
    3. Hardening of the craft in natural conditions. The process can take several days, during which the product must be left at rest.
    4. Coloring. After the figurine has completely hardened, its final painting is carried out, with all the details drawn. The best option– . Volumetric coloring is achieved by adding the required dye (pigments, gouache) to the prepared raw materials. Often the figures are coated with varnish (colorless or with a tinting effect).

    Features of making dolls

    There are many options for making a papier-mâché doll, from very simple children's crafts to original artistic creations.

    The mass is prepared on the basis of loose paper - toilet paper, napkins, egg containers, etc. PVA glue, wallpaper glue or paste is used as an adhesive composition. The consistency of the mass should correspond to soft plasticine.

    There are many options for making a papier-mâché doll, from very simple children's crafts to original artistic creations.

    A simple doll is made in this order:

    1. A mold for the head is molded from plasticine. It is then covered with a thin layer of paper pulp. After it hardens, you need to make an incision through which to remove the plasticine. The final thickness of the workpiece is formed by adding the required amount of mass. The thickness should be 5-6 mm. The eye sockets, nose, mouth, and ears are formed.
    2. For the torso going wire frame. The prepared mass is applied to it with the simultaneous formation of the neck, arms and legs.
    3. Connecting the body to the head using PVA glue.
    4. The doll's outfit is sewn from fabric of the desired color.
    5. The entire doll is painted with white acrylic paint. You can add a slight peach tint. Facial features are drawn.
    6. The hair is made from floss or wool threads. They are glued to the head and a hairstyle is formed.
    7. Clothes are put on and secured.

    You can also make a complex doll with movable elements from papier-mâché (jointed doll). This craft can be done to an experienced master.

    It is assembled according to pre-prepared drawings. The composition includes the following ingredients: toilet paper, PVA glue, gypsum-based putty, liquid detergent.

    You can also make a complex doll with movable elements from papier-mâché (jointed doll)

    The mass is prepared as follows. The paper is dissolved in hot water (55-65 degrees) for 5-6 hours; it is better to use a mixer for mixing. After obtaining a homogeneous mass, the water is squeezed out through gauze, glue and detergent are added (1 tbsp per 1 liter of mixture). The last thing to add to the mixture is putty (120-140 g/l).

    All elements of the doll are molded from papier-mâché separately. To movably connect them together, a strong, tight elastic band or screw connection is used. In the latter case, a screw is inserted into one of the parts, and a nut is inserted into the adjacent element. The joint surfaces must be well machined to ensure a tight fit.

    Steampunk technique

    Recently, steampunk figures have come into fashion. In essence, this is a fantastic allegory with the transfer of ancient and outlandish elements.

    In such figures, originality and irony are especially valued. The jumble of constituent elements may be the most unexpected, but they should create a unified impression.

    Steampunk figurines have come into fashion lately.

    As an example of a steampunk craft, consider making a fantastic Fish.

    The materials used are papier-mâché, foam plastic panel, cardboard, hardboard sheets, leatherette, nails for upholstery, various small gears, shells and all kinds of spare parts for household appliances.

    As an example of a steampunk craft, consider making a fantastic Fish

    The base of the Fish is made of a foam plastic panel 1-1.5 cm thick. One longitudinal and several transverse corrugated cardboard ribs are placed on it. The entire base is covered with papier-mâché in a consistency soft plasticine.

    The fins are cut out of hardboard using a jigsaw according to a cardboard pattern and attached to papier-mâché. The scales can be formed from curtain rings and leatherette. Various mechanical parts are installed on top. Here you need to show your imagination, because... no specific order is provided.

    It is important that the fish looks like a mechanized monster

    It is important that the fish looks like a mechanized monster. Seashells are hung for decoration. You can sprinkle the figure with sand. Then the workpiece is primed to create a brown background, and some details are highlighted with acrylic paint golden color. Finally, the Fish is coated with varnish in 3-4 layers. The length of this craft is 85-100 cm.

    Making masks

    Some of the most impressive papier-mâché crafts are African masks. Such handmade creations can decorate the interior of any apartment. Their size is 35-37 cm in height, 21-24 cm in width.

    The mass is prepared on the basis toilet paper. One mask will require 2 rolls. The paper is dissolved in hot water, and then mixed with PVA glue (420-440 g), and you need to take thick glue for construction work. To give plasticity it is added linseed oil(3 tbsp). When mixing the mixture, it is advisable to use a mixer.

    Some of the most impressive papier-mâché crafts are masks.

    A spherical PVC food tray works well for the shape. Its configuration resembles a mask. A layer of pape-mâché is applied to this form. The main details are laid out separately - nose, eyebrows, lips. Eyes are formed.

    Smoothing is provided by the fingers, as well as a stack and a knife. It will take 12-14 days for the craft to completely harden. Then the mask is puttyed with a thin layer and sanded after the putty has dried. The surface must be perfectly smooth.

    Let's create a wonderful fairy tale in our yard and place funny fairy-tale heroes, these are boletus mushrooms. I think that many still remember the good old Russian fairy tales, where mushrooms also have a part in them. These cheerful, funny fairy-tale characters can also be placed on the playground; children will be very happy to see them in their fairy-tale world) Crafts for the garden can be made from various materials and they all turn out beautiful and original in their own way. But today we will look at a master class on making a cute papier-mâché mushroom, the author of this master class is Natalya Chusovitina. Also, if you are interested, you can look at others on the site interesting crafts for the garden, which are made from available and simple materials. And today we will look at two interesting master class for making mushrooms from plastic bottles and papier-mâché.

    * Plastic bottles
    * Knife.
    * Scissors.
    * Newspaper.
    * Scotch.
    * Basin.
    * Cloth.
    * Self-tapping screws.
    * Dye.
    * Varnish.

    Method for making a mushroom from papier-mâché:
    First, you and I will form the stem of the mushroom, take three plastic bottles and put them together, secure them with tape. We cut off the neck of the fourth bottle and put it on the three bottles that we just secured with tape. Look as shown in the photo, this is how it should work out for you.

    Now we take newspapers and begin to increase the volume to the shape of the leg, using newspapers and tape.

    Well, it’s starting to look like the stem of a fungus. We cover it with newspapers, then cover it with papier-mâché and sculpt everything we have in mind on the mold (nose, eyes, cheeks, eyebrows, etc.).

    Now we will make a hat for our mushroom, also using the papier-mâché technique. Natalya took two basins and used them to create a hat for our mushroom. The photo shows how the basins should be placed to make the hat more convex and beautiful.

    Let's try on our hat, I think it turned out handsome!!!

    Turning it over mushroom and at the base of the stem we screw screws, we do this so that the mushroom stem then sits firmly.

    Now we will cover everything up. Fill it with a mixture of alabaster + cement mixture + sawdust and mix everything with water. We give the required form and then we dry our fungus.

    We also fill the base of the mushroom cap with this mixture.

    Next, our finished fungus needs to be dried well; we remove it until it dries completely for about a couple of days. It all depends on the size of the fungus you have, if it’s small it will dry quickly, but if it’s large it will take longer. Then, when the mushroom dries well, paint it and varnish it.

    Ours is ready papier-mâché fungus. All that remains is to find the right use for it in the garden.

    We looked at one master class on making a mushroom, I think it would be nice to watch another master class. After all, creating crafts with your own hands for your garden plot is interesting and exciting.
    How many things can you create with your own? with my own hands from scrap materials. These can be various crafts for the garden, and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on them. And most importantly, they will be original and unique in their own way. Well, let’s get started and look at another interesting tutorial on making a mushroom from a plastic bottle and papier-mâché. The author of this master class is Olga Koronnova.

    To make a mushroom we will need:
    * Plastic bottle.
    * Plastic lid (can be used for mayonnaise).
    * Scissors.
    * Scotch.
    * Newspapers.
    * Basin.
    * Egg trays.
    * PVA glue.
    * Gypsum putty.
    * Non-woven glue.
    * Acrylic paints.
    * Food processor.
    * Facade paint is white-matte.
    * Yacht varnish.

    Method for making mushroom:
    In the plastic cap we make a hole in the middle for a plastic bottle. Now let's start making our mushroom. Take a plastic bottle and put a cap on it.

    Now we take the newspaper and use it to create volume for our mushroom and secure everything with tape.

    Next, cut the newspaper into strips. Pour water into a small container and add a little PVA glue or non-woven glue to it. Mix well and drop the strips into it. We glue the finished strips onto our fungus in several layers

    To make papier-mâché we will need:

    * Basin.
    * Egg trays.
    * PVA glue.
    * Gypsum putty.
    * Non-woven glue.
    * Food processor.

    Now let's make papier-mâché to give our hero more naturalness. We take the egg trays and soak them in water for several hours, it is better to soak them overnight.

    Then squeeze it out a little, if there is excess water it needs to be removed. Next, we need a food processor, grind this mass from the egg trays in it. Add gypsum putty, non-woven adhesive, PVA glue to the finished mass, mix everything well.

    We should have an elastic mass (papier-mâché) for making a mushroom.

    We coat our workpiece with the resulting mass.

    We sculpt our character's eyes, nose, hands, etc.

    We give time for everything to dry well and apply white façade paint. Then we paint acrylic paints or any other of our heroes. Let the paint dry and apply several layers of varnish.

    Look how funny the boletus fungus turned out from a plastic bottle and papier-mâché. I think that it will take its rightful place in your garden or playground.

    Autumn mushrooms made from papier mache. Master Class

    Dear needlewomen) I want to show you very beautiful work craftswomen from the Country of Masters - moonlight_talk. I've been looking at papier-mâché mushrooms for a long time... I think now is the time to start creating them, I was inspired) Many thanks to the author for the master class!

    The shape of future crafts can be created from literally any available material. Things that could have been thrown away get a second life, thereby saving natural resources and developing your imagination. :)
    In this case, the frame was: newspapers, paper rolls, cling film, an old CD, the cut out bottom of a plastic bottle (which became the cap of a small mushroom) and the bottom-stand from a cosmetic gift set. You can create a frame from any other items you have around the house.
    To fasten the materials together, I had to use tape. I covered the bottom with paper pulp. Since the goal was only to fill the empty space, which would not be visible later anyway, the mass was made according to the simplest recipe. Soaked mine in a basin former abstracts for 3 days, periodically crumpling them with my hands. By the end of the third day, I ground the paper in a blender, resulting in something like a paste. I mixed it with PVA glue and squeezed out the remaining water through gauze. By the way, I did a little experiment and rolled a small ball without glue to check if the shape would hold. When the ball dried, it turned out that the shape held, and even perfectly. So, perhaps, it was possible to do even without PVA

    So, we made a frame, if necessary, we waited for the paper pulp to dry. Now we find a newspaper in the bins or take a newspaper from the mailbox and tear it into pieces. We will need long narrow pieces in the rounded areas, but for the rest, depend on the situation. If you have large shape, it makes sense to make larger pieces so as not to waste a lot of time. I made pieces approximately 2 x 2 cm.
    We throw some of the prepared pieces into the water and begin to cover the frame with these wet pieces. Please ensure that the pieces fit tightly to the frame.
    By the way, about water. For some reason, instructions are given everywhere to pour PVA glue into the water. I made it simpler. I applied glue to the frame before covering it with newspaper and after. It held up great, there were no problems.
    After you have covered the mold in 1-2 layers, wait until it dries completely; I took breaks of 12-24 hours. Then we apply a new layer, no more than 2 at a time. Actually, maybe more is possible, but I decided to stick to the advice that it’s better not to do that.

    I had enough for 4 layers, after which I sanded the workpiece with fine-grained sandpaper and started priming. For this I used white acrylic paint and a sponge. For convenience, I cut off a part from it and attached it to the back side tassels. The result is a weapon like this. :) In my opinion, using a sponge is better than using an ordinary brush. Firstly, it’s faster - that’s a fact. Secondly, after applying paint in this way, the workpiece acquires a uniform, rough surface. It is difficult to achieve uniformity with a brush

    To prime our craft, you will need about 2-3 layers of paint. In this case, the next layer is applied after the previous one has dried. Our main task is to make the craft completely white.

    The frame was made, pieces were pasted over, sanded, primed... Now you can move on to the most enjoyable part of the work - painting the product! For coloring, I again used acrylic paints and a sponge. True, at the stage of decorating the legs I had to work with a brush in order to show the “spotting”, this should be visible in the photograph.
    At the end, it is recommended to completely cover the finished work with varnish. But I only covered the top part of the hats with it, because... the surface after varnish is shiny, and a shiny mushroom stem or stand, it seems to me, would look unnatural.

    We complete the picture, add naturalness: grass, a twig from the forest, a homemade leaf. We attach the whole thing with PVA glue.

    It took about a month to create these mushrooms. But in reality, everything is not so scary. The main part is waiting: when the mass, layers, paint dry...

    Crafts made from waste and natural materials. "Dressy hedgehog"

    Mikhailova Maya Valerievna.
    Job title: art teacher, NOCHU secondary school - kindergarten "Znayka", Moscow, Sailor Zheleznyak Boulevard, 29A.
    Description of work: This material will be of interest to teachers of art and additional education, educators, parents of preschool and primary school children. The craft can be used as a gift, interior decoration, making crafts from natural materials at home with parents for the kindergarten for the autumn exhibition.
    Target: Teaching papier-mâché techniques, instilling neatness and perseverance in children, developing fine motor skills hands and vision of beauty in natural materials, love for forest dwellers.
    Tasks: create a craft from waste material and natural materials for an autumn crafts competition or as a gift for interior decoration.

    "DECENT HEDGEHOG" Papier-mâché.

    We will need materials:
    1. Disposable paper flat plate;
    2. Disposable deep plastic bowl;
    3. paper tape;
    4. scissors;
    5. toothpicks;
    6. thin food foil;
    7. newspapers;
    8. PVA glue;
    9. gouache;
    10. natural material (flowers, autumn leaves, rowan branches, small apples, etc.)
    11. three black or shiny beads for the eyes and nose.

    To make papier-mâché you will need:
    1. old saucepan;
    2. mixer;
    3. newspapers;
    4. PVA glue.

    Natural materials:
    Flowers

    Leaves

    Rowan branches:

    apples

    Stages of work execution.
    1. Making a mass of papier-mâché.
    In an old saucepan, tear up as many sheets of newspaper as possible, but only enough to fit in the saucepan.

    Pour hot water over the torn newspaper.

    Then place the pan on the stove and bring the mixture to a boil.

    After boiling, remove the pan from the stove and beat with a mixer. For this purpose, it is better to have separate whisks only for making papier-mâché mass, since they will get dirty with printing ink. It is better to place the pan in the sink so that splashes do not fly away from the mixer.

    Add PVA glue to the resulting porridge by eye, not very much, and beat again with a mixer.

    The mixture is ready. Leave it to cool.

    Then the mixture can be put into plastic boxes with a lid and brought to work to conduct activities with children.

    2. Making a mold for a hedgehog.
    Take a flat paper plate and cut it in half.

    We will need one half. We twist it into a cone and secure it with paper tape. This will be the hedgehog's nose.

    Make the bottom surface of the cone flat and make cuts along the fold lines.

    Take a deep bowl, turn it upside down and connect it to the cone as shown in the photo.

    Secure the bowl and cone with paper tape.

    Take a piece of foil larger than our mold and wrap the entire craft, fold the edges of the foil into a bowl.

    Cover the form with foil.

    The form is ready. If desired, you can form a small tail from the foil while wrapping. It is known that most hedgehogs have tails 3 cm long, which are not noticeable behind the needles.
    3. Cover the hedgehog shape with papier-mâché.
    We take small lumps of mass and give them the shape of a flat cake, then stick it onto the mold. We attach the second piece to the previous one and cover the entire shape without leaving any gaps.

    The nose needs to be covered with the mixture from below. Take the mold in your hands and stick the mixture onto the entire spout from below.

    Apply a thicker layer of mass on the back to make it easier to stick the needles.

    4. Attaching needles.
    Cut the toothpicks in half or break them. If you leave the original length, the needles will turn out to be too long, like those of a porcupine, and not those of a hedgehog. An ordinary hedgehog has approximately 10 thousand spines. Therefore, prepare a lot of toothpicks.

    We insert needles everywhere except the muzzle. Before sticking, dip a toothpick in PVA glue so that they stick better to the mass.

    Insert as many needles as possible, the more the more beautiful it will turn out. The sharp tip of the toothpick should stick up.

    Insert the beads into the eyes and nose, after also smearing them with glue.

    Leave the hedgehog to dry for about a week.
    5. Painting a hedgehog.
    After the hedgehog has dried, we begin painting with pear paints.
    Mix grey colour from black and white. Paint the entire muzzle, and partially paint the needles and back.

    The spines of hedgehogs are not evenly colored, so use a brush with a black color to lightly go over the spines and paint them here and there.

    If desired, the hedgehog can be painted with a thin brush, antennae and eyelashes in black.

    After the hedgehog has dried, you can dress it up.

    6. Dress up the hedgehog. The final stage.
    Here your imagination is fully manifested; you can decorate with any natural materials: acorns, rowan berries, flowers, autumn foliage, moss, apples, berries, nuts and so on.
    First I put on the apples.

    Then rowan.

    Flowers.

    Foliage.

    Well, “Dressy Hedgehog” is ready.

    Over time, the display on the needles will wither; it can be renewed or the needles can be decorated with mushrooms and apples made from papier mache. This will last forever. I will tell you how to make mushrooms and apples in another handicraft master class.

    How to conduct a lesson with preschoolers.
    The work is completed in two sessions. I prepare the mixture in advance and distribute ready-made forms. The guys need to stick to the form and insert needles and eyes with a nose. This significantly saves class time. Students can make their own uniforms. But a lot of papier-mâché needs to be done together with adults, parents or a teacher.
    At the next lesson, the children paint and decorate their hedgehogs themselves. Many children have a desire to make a “hedgehog” for their hedgehog. Here's the kind of work we got.

    The Autumn Festival is a great occasion to get creative with your children, especially if you grow vegetables in your garden. Because making crafts from vegetables is easy and enjoyable. In addition, children have a unique ability to revive inanimate objects - from a pile of cones, they will unmistakably choose mom, dad and children. I’ll tell you how to make crafts from vegetables and fruits for the Autumn Festival exhibition in kindergarten or school.

    We usually use the gifts of autumn to make vegetable crafts for kindergarten:

    • the simplest vegetables - potatoes, carrots, onions, zucchini, pumpkin;
    • fruits and berries - apples, watermelon, rowan;
