    Knitting for women probably has no boundaries. Pullover, sweater, jumper, poncho, cardigan - this is not the list of knitted tops that you can create with your own hands using knitting needles and thread. In the article we will analyze modern women's sweaters, knitted in 2018, and photos with diagrams.

    On the eve of the cold season, models are in special demand large knit, by the way, they are very popular today, sweaters with dense braid patterns, blouses made of soft and warm mohair. Let's also consider cotton options. These sweaters are popular all year round. In the summer they are indispensable on cool evenings, and in winter they can be worn to the office or indoors.

    Yarn for women's sweater

    A women's sweater or pullover can be made from absolutely any yarn. If you need a cozy, warm and winter model, then you should choose soft wool, such a thread includes:

    • alpaca;
    • merino;
    • mink fluff;
    • angora;
    • mohair or kid mohair (the finest mohair on an acrylic or silk base).

    Thread may vary in thickness. For voluminous knitting, you can choose a thick thread and knitting needles of the corresponding number. Then you need to knit a simple pattern without openwork. A warm sweater can also be knitted from a thin thread, the main thing is that it contains wool. Openwork is also good for fine yarn.

    A pullover made of kid mohair with an openwork pattern looks very feminine. It is weightless, gentle and will warm you in any cold weather.

    Sweater with a beautiful raglan

    This model is distinguished by elegance and simplicity. It is made from DROPS NEPAL yarn (65% wool and 35% alpaca, 75 meters per 50 gram skein), but you can take any other yarn with a similar meter. For size M you will need 600 g. Knitting needles are recommended No. 5.5 circular.

    Let's get started:

    The sweater is knitted in the round from the neckline. We cast on 66 loops on the knitting needles, divide them into back, front, sleeve and raglan loops. We knit 2 rows in the round using garter stitch. Then for the back we knit 2 rows back and forth, not in a circle, in order to form a neckline, then we knit in the round. The raglan is knitted according to the pattern below, the rest of the fabric is knitted in stockinette stitch.

    Having reached the end of the raglan (you need to check the given pattern), we put the sleeve loops on additional knitting needles and knit the front and back parts in the round to the desired length, while making additions according to the pattern to expand the fabric. On the sides below the raglan we continue knitting according to the raglan pattern. Having reached the incision site, we separate the front and back parts on the sides and finish separately in order to make the incision. We knit the last 4 rows in garter stitch. Close the loops.

    We knit the sleeves in the same way, making decreases to narrow them, according to the pattern. We knit 7 centimeters at the end of each sleeve with a 2*2 elastic band.

    Sweater with jacquard yoke

    A very feminine, beautiful and quite simple sweater, with the exception of the yoke with a jacquard pattern, which you will have to work on to get such a stylish new thing.

    To work you will need:

    1. DROPS AIR threads (70% alpaca, 23% polyamide, 7% wool, 150 meters per 50 grams) in two shades. It is not necessary to use this particular yarn; you can choose a thread with a similar yardage.
    2. Circular knitting needles No. 5.

    Let's get started:

    We cast on 80 loops on the knitting needles and knit several rows with a 2*2 elastic band to form the neckline, evenly adding loops around the circle to expand the fabric. On the back we knit 2 additional rows, going back and not closing the circle.

    Next we knit in the round again. According to the pattern, we begin to knit a jacquard yoke pattern according to the pattern. When the yoke is knitted, we put the sleeve loops on additional knitting needles and continue on the front and back parts on circular knitting needles until we reach the desired length, evenly adding loops on the sides for a slight expansion, according to the pattern. We finish the work with several rows of 2*2 elastic.

    Then we return to the sleeves and knit each of them on circular knitting needles in stockinette stitch, finishing the knitting with a 2*2 rib.

    Chunky knit sweaters

    Large knitted items look very stylish and relevant on girls and women. These sweaters are quite easy to make with your own hands. This model will require thick yarn and knitting needles. The work won't take much time. For large knitting, the simplest cut is usually chosen with a minimum of details and the most simple pattern. Let's take a closer look at the 2018 model of knitted women's sweaters with large knitting needles with photos and diagrams.

    Chunky knit sweater with short sleeves

    Very interesting and fashionable option for a chunky knit sweater. It features stylish cropped sleeves and a braided pattern.

    For it you will need:

    1. DROPS Eskimo threads (100% wool, 50 meters in 50 grams). It is not necessary to use this particular yarn; you can choose a thread with a similar yardage.
    2. Knitting needles number 8.

    This model is knitted in two parts: front and back, with a set of loops for the sleeves according to the pattern below. We execute the pattern according to the diagram. The collar is knitted after collecting the parts.

    For a women's sweater knitted according to the cut that is current in 2018 (photos with diagrams are given in the article), you can use any pattern, composition and color of yarn. The main thing here is not to choose openwork and not to knit capes, since from thick yarn they will look like they have very large holes.

    Sweater with pockets

    An excellent model for relaxing on fresh air. This sweater features original large and stylish patch pockets. It is quite simple to make; there is no need to knit the armhole and sleeve head; the product lies gently along the contour of the body due to the pattern and soft yarn.

    For it you will need:

    1. Knitting needles No. 5.

    Let's get started:

    The sweater is knitted in separate pieces and then assembled.

    For the pattern, you can use a pearl pattern: alternately knit the front and back loops in the front row, the back row - according to the pattern. Next front row: change the order and knit over the knits - purl and over the purl - knit.

    First we knit the back according to the pattern given below. Here we immediately start knitting with a pattern, without an elastic band. Then we knit the front part in the same way, but with a deeper neckline.

    We start the sleeves with 2*2 elastic and then move on to the pattern. We check the sleeve with the pattern.

    Then you need to knit 2 patch pockets, starting with a pearl pattern and ending with several rows of 2*2 elastic.

    Sweater with long back

    One of the highlights of modern sweaters is the elongated back. Consider this version of a women's sweater. By the way, this feature can be used for any other pullover model, simply by knitting the back part longer than the front part.

    For the model in the photo below you will need:

    1. DROPS AIR threads (70% alpaca, 23% polyamide, 7% wool, meter 150 meters in 50 grams). It is not necessary to use this particular yarn; you can choose a thread with a similar yardage.
    2. Knitting needles No. 5.

    We start knitting from the back, then the front and sleeves. We make all the details according to the pattern using stockinette stitch, on the sides of the front and back and for the sleeves we use the pattern shown in the diagram.

    We sew the finished parts together, leaving slits on the sides. We tie the neck with an elastic band 2*2.

    Jumper with flared lace edges

    This model has two amazing, striking features: the color of the thread and the openwork flared edges. It is made of section-dyed cotton. This thread creates the effect of a smooth transition of shades in the product. Openwork edges make the jumper unusual and stylish.

    For the model in the photo below you will need:

    1. Threads made of 100% cotton, section dyed, 120 m per 50 g. Yarn from Alize Bella Batik is a little thinner, but it can also be used.
    2. Size 3 and 4 needles and circular needles.

    We knit the jumper in detail, according to the given pattern. All parts are made separately and then assembled using a knitted seam.

    We knit the sleeves and openwork edges of the jumper according to the pattern below.

    This interesting wardrobe item will add color to your daily life and will look stylish and flattering on any figure.

    It turns out that it is interesting that if a sweater or jumper is knitted with a simple stockinette stitch, and the sleeves are openwork, then such a thing will make its owner slim. This technique can be remembered by fashionistas and knitting lovers.

    By choosing any model of women's knitted sweater, the description and photo with patterns of which are given in this article, you can be sure that in this new thing you will look stylish and fresh, according to fashion trends in 2018. In order for the knitting process to be enjoyable and the result to please you, you should take into account some tips from experienced knitters:

    1. Before starting to work on a sweater, you should knit a small square with the main pattern chosen for the product, with the same knitting needles and from the selected threads, in order to calculate the number of loops. This test sample must first be moistened, then dried, and then the loops must be counted.
    2. To knit complex patterns, you can make a pattern from paper with the necessary measurements or copy the pattern from a product that fits well on your figure. While knitting, constantly check this pattern.
    3. It is better to assemble the parts using a special knitted seam using a needle and thread from which the product was knitted.

    Current trends in knitted fashion for women

    This article presents new, current models of 2018 women's knitted sweaters with photos and diagrams. Now let’s talk about what general trends are relevant in knitted fashion for women today and what you should pay attention to when choosing a model to wear.

    So, what exactly distinguishes a knitted, fashionable and stylish sweater from one that has gathered dust in grandma’s chest:

    1. Today the trend is simplicity of cut and design.
    2. Thread. It should rather be natural, soft without shine, matte.
    3. The color of the yarn is an important detail. Today everything natural is in fashion, so you should choose the color of the thread from those that are closer to the shades that are found in nature.
    4. Popular today are models with interestingly designed raglan, models made of large knitting and so-called “pillowcases”, which are knitted from two squares (front and back) and two smaller squares (sleeves).
    5. Braids are still in fashion, but you need to combine them successfully in a pattern.
    6. Fluffy thread (mohair and angora) have the right to decorate the wardrobe of a modern lady.
    7. And lastly, today a sweater, even a coarse and large knit, can also be used for evening dress, correctly equipping it with a skirt, trousers, and accessories. So feel free to arm yourself with knitting needles and create!
