• How to make a headband with your own hands (detailed master class). Beautiful headband made of fleece or drape with your own hands Fabric headbands for girls

    30.10.2020

A DIY headband is a convenient, beautiful and unique accessory, because there is no other like it in the world. Making it at home is as easy as shelling pears, all you need is minimal sewing skills, a set of materials and tools, and a little patience. There are several types of dressings: crocheted or knitting needles, with a fixing elastic band and satin ribbons. Each of them is interesting in its own way and performs different functions.

How to make a headband with your own hands

The knitted accessory not only holds your hair in place, but also warms you up in cool weather and also protects your ears from the wind. To make a headband with your own hands, you will need the following materials:

You can knit in any pattern you like: tight or loose, openwork, use only one color of yarn or take several different ones. Measure the volume of your head. Subtract a couple of centimeters from the resulting figure; this is necessary so that the finished bandage fits snugly and does not fall off the head. Tie a strip 5-10 cm wide: for a little girl five will be enough, but for an adult it is better to make it wider - 10 or even 12 cm. All that remains is to sew the edges on the wrong side and the DIY headband is ready!

    How to decorate a headband

You can wear it like that, but it’s better to add a few decorative elements to make the accessory look more interesting and individual. Intercept the central part with a thread, pull it together and securely fix the ends on the wrong side.

Sew on the front side a beautiful button, bead, bow, you can also glue rhinestones. Choose jewelry that will harmonize with the rest of your clothing.

Please note that if you are making a headband with your own hands for a girl, all elements must be securely fixed so as not to harm the child.

    Bandage with fixing elastic band

Another variation of the DIY knitted headband is more for beauty than warmth. To work you will need:

    • yarn;
    • knitting needles or crochet hook;
    • sewing needle and thread;
    • flat elastic band 2-3 cm wide.

First, measure your head circumference and subtract 7 centimeters from the resulting figure. Knit a strip 2-4 cm wide in any way convenient for you: knitting or crocheting. The pattern on the headband can also be anything, it all depends on your taste, imagination and knitting skills. Then cut a small piece of elastic 5 cm long, carefully singe the edges with a lighter so that they do not unravel. Sew tightly the edges of the elastic and knitted fabric so that a visible seam remains on the wrong side. For reliability, you can lay several parallel seams. Now fasten the thread from the wrong side, cut the end and turn the bandage right side out. The new accessory is ready!

If you don't like to knit, you can make your own satin headband from ribbon. To do this, simply cut the ribbon to the required length, singe the edges so that the threads do not fall apart, and then turn it inward 1 cm and sew by hand or on a machine. Sew on the elastic as described above.

    Decoration with flowers

To decorate the headband, you can use artificial flowers, bought in a store, made yourself from multi-colored felt or ribbons, but the most harmonious decor looks like one knitted using the same method as the fabric of the headband. To make crocheted flowers and leaves, you will need several colors of yarn and a little inspiration.

Tie 4-5 or more flowers of different sizes, as well as several green leaves. Think over the composition in advance and lay out a trial version on a knitted fabric. Secure lightly decorative elements thread or a pin and put the headband on your head: in this position it is best to evaluate how beautiful the composition looks and whether it is comfortable to wear. Make changes if necessary and try again. Now securely sew on the flowers with matching threads and you can put on your new clothes!

    Elastic bandage

If the headband is needed not for decoration, but for comfort, to simply remove hair from the face, you can make an accessory from an ordinary flat elastic band. To do this, measure the volume of your head and subtract 3 cm from the resulting amount. Cut the desired piece of elastic, singe the edges, and then sew with matching threads. Instead of thread and needle, you can use hot melt glue. It hardens quickly, has a transparent texture, and holds tightly and reliably. Choose the color of the elastic band at your discretion: white, black, to match your hair, or brighter, for example, red, crimson, orange.

This accessory can be worn at home while cleaning, in the bathroom or while applying makeup. To make the elastic headband look more interesting, you can attach a bow to it, artificial flower made from ribbons or felt, add beads, rhinestones and other decorations.

    Bandage with ribbons

A simple elastic headband made from wide elastic can be decorated and worn as a stylish accessory. To do this, take a ribbon 2 cm wide. Using hot glue, attach the edge of the ribbon to the elastic from the wrong side next to the seam. Wrap the ribbon around the elastic, gluing each turn from the wrong side. Made from scratch with your own hands, headbands made from ribbons look unusual, hold hair securely and last a very long time.

To make beautiful decoration at home, you need very little: thread and a needle, knitting needles or a crochet hook, a piece of elastic, as well as a little patience and inspiration. A DIY hair headband can become not only a beautiful accessory, but also a wonderful gift for a friend, mother or other woman dear to you. A simple accessory into which you have put a piece of your soul will delight them much more than banal cards.

This summer we wore the now fashionable headbands. In winter, I suggest switching to warm bandages! They are no less beautiful and stylish, and making such a headband with your own hands is not at all difficult.

To make your own headband you will need:

    • Fleece in different colors (you can buy it at the store or use an old wool sweater)
    • Button or button
    • Scissors
    • Threads and sewing machine
    • Fantasy

    Step one
Having puzzled myself about making a headband, I went to the store looking for fleece in different colors. I didn’t manage to find much, but I was pleased with the combination of the chosen colors. You can also successfully use an old wool sweater that has shrunk in the wash or has not been worn for a long time. 60-70 centimeters of fleece is enough to make one headband for an adult.

    Step two
    I made this paper template.

On it I indicated the size of the bandage. In the narrow part of the bandage the height is 7 cm, the length of the entire bandage is 70 cm, in the wide part of the bandage it is 15 cm. It is better if you use a centimeter to measure the circumference of your head and add 5 cm to the seam. You can also cut out any shape for the headband. Tuck long sides approximately 1 cm and stitch.

Now wrap the bandage around your head to adjust its length if necessary. Fold the edges of the short sides 1-1.5 cm and stitch.

Make a loop at one end of the headband and sew a button on the other, or you can use a button

    Step three
The loop should be slightly smaller than the button. For stretchy wool fabric, it is not necessary to sew on a button.

Decorate the headband to your liking. I cut out lots of little blue flowers from blue fleece and sewed them on randomly.

You can sew on the decor using a sewing machine, but I usually do it by hand. I made small stitches in the center of the flower using yellow thread, I think it's really cute! The bandage is ready!

    Step four
As you can see, a beautiful hand-sewn headband is not a dream, but a reality! I told you it's not difficult at all. You can also wrap the wool fabric in any knit fabric you like for a completely different look!

Woolen fabric can be folded in half, then the headband will be even warmer. After making my first headband, I couldn't stop! Using the basic blank, I made many types of decor. For example, this gray headband with flowers.

I have my absolute favorite headband. It's a trendy yellow headband with a huge bow on the side.

If you decide to make one, keep in mind that the bow is in this case you need to sew it on, and then put it on glue. As you can see, the possibilities are endless! I wish everyone good luck!

Starting from the first months of life, modern mothers of little princesses begin to give them various hairstyles, attach hairpins and elastic bands. However, this option is not always convenient and can disturb the child. In this case, an excellent headband can be an alternative. Some versions of the presented headbands can be worn not only by little fashionistas, but also by fully grown representatives of the fair sex.

    Necessary materials

To make jewelry you will need the following materials:

    • Main material: any ribbon or elastic band suitable color, you can take a ready-made bandage.
    • Material for making a decorative flower.
    • Needle, thread, glue (if you have a sewing machine, you can use it).

To make a flower you need to take a fairly dense, but at the same time soft cloth, felt is perfect.

You need to cut out 4 circles from the selected material (you can make it in the shape of a chamomile). Take the first circle, bend it in half, apply a little glue in the middle, put a second bent flower or circle on top and also apply glue, you need to hold it a little until the glue sets. You need to do the same with the rest of the details.

    Tights bandage

The easiest way to make a headband for a child is to use the simplest nylon children's tights. The nylon itself is quite soft and elastic material, so it is most suitable for the child’s head. When you take measurements, you need to take into account that this material stretches very well, which means you need to cut the strip a little smaller.

    Tights bandage

You can decorate such a headband with rhinestones or beads, you can also place a flower, but it should be made of light materials.

The main emphasis in this headband is on the flower. To make it, you need to cut out quite a lot of circles from the fabric, then you should sew them together and tighten the main thread, and you will form a flower.

You can use several flowers on one bandage of different colors and sizes. Thus, you will get a magnificent decoration from a full-fledged flower bouquet.

In this option, you can take lace material as a basis - this will give the product softness, tenderness and sophistication.

Easy-to-make headbands for little princesses will become a real treat for future fashionistas.
