    27.07.2019

    Hello dear readers.

Today it started raining and the thought was that it was time to clean and hide the furs and all winter clothes, began to knock more and more often in my consciousness.

Still, it’s enough to scare spring with your sheepskin coats and fur coats. Let's remember a few rules for storing and cleaning fur. It is only at first glance that storing and cleaning fur is a simple matter.

Storing and cleaning fur at home

Now we begin to hide winter clothes and questions pour out of a bag: when to clean the fur, or maybe not clean it anymore, but throw it away; How long does a fur last? I will give here, well-known and not so well-known, tips for caring for furs.

    Fur sock

The service life of fur products is long. For example, rabbit fur wears out the fastest, it will last up to 4 years, mink will last up to 12 years, and arctic fox up to 7 years, otter and beaver fur are “long-lived” - they last up to 20 years, provided that the fur is stored correctly . Cleaning fur also plays an important role in the life of fur.

The following signs will help you find out that the furs have already worn out:

    • loss of color uniformity;
    • accumulation of dust pollution;
    • formations in the form of nodules, tangled lumps, split ends of fur.
    • particles of debris between the hairs.

What should you not do with fur items at home?

Cleaning fur starts from the opposite. What is more important here is what not to do with fur.

    1. Remove stains yourself, wash fur, wet with water and detergent or powder.
    2. Dry your fur coat on a radiator, over a fire, or heating devices. This is the same as blow-drying your hair - it’s very harmful. After all, we know that there should be thermal protection for hair, and accordingly, drying fur after rain or snow should be in a ventilated room, but not in a draft! Clean the fur only after it has dried.
    3. Remember that the fur coat straightens itself and ironing it is strictly prohibited!

    Fur storage

    • When placing fur items in a box, air dry them in the shade. After drying the fur item, carefully beat it out and shake it.
    • Store coats with fur collars and fur coats, it is better in plastic bags (air access is mandatory, otherwise the fur will deteriorate) or in bags made of thick paper. Be sure to put moth repellent in there.
    • To prevent the fur from becoming wrinkled, these bags should not be put down, but hung in the closet.
    • Light fur turns yellow from light, so store it in bags made of thick dark paper.
    • Do not hang dyed and undyed fur next to each other - undyed fur may become stained.
    • Do not hang it near a whitewashed wall: lime spoils the fur.
    • If the fur coat is wrinkled, wipe it with a damp sponge, shake it, and dry it.
    • It is better to store fur headdresses in boxes, so they will not lose their shape.
    • Store fur garments separately from wool and felt ones.

How to properly store a fur coat

What's not to love about fur?

    • Light . Natural fur does not like artificial, bright light and direct sunlight. Many products turn yellow already on display.
    • Carpet beetles, they say b - they love to feast on fur products, especially those that they have not thought about for a long time. You can save your fur coat with a bag of lavender and proper storage in perforated cases.
    • Cosmetics and perfumes. Fur especially does not like perfume and foundation. Apply perfume in advance, put on your fur coat after it has completely dried. Foundation is also dangerous, so wear a scarf or handkerchief around your neck.
    • Nobuck and suede accessories. A fur coat that has come into contact with accessories made from such materials may become colored in their color. Cleaning the fur after this is very difficult.

    How to clean yellowed fur

    Traditional recipes for cleaning fur:

    • To clean light fur from dirt, you need to take starch or semolina, sprinkle it on the fur coat, and then comb it out well.
    • Using alcohol solutions, a mixture of water and vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide to clean light fur can be fraught with consequences. They may help remove dirty and greasy stains from natural fur, but this is a huge risk! If such a solution gets on the skin, it can seriously damage it. Fur cleaning is best done at a dry cleaner.
    • Most best friend for a white hat or fur coat - starch. Pour it, sparingly, into the fur, and gently knead and rub it until the starch collects the dirt. After this, shake out the fur coat well and comb it. If the starch comes out gray and dirty, repeat the procedure.
    • To clean the sleeves and hem of a dirty white jacket or sheepskin, rub starch into the fur. Then spray the edge with the solution washing powder. You will get a mass that you spread with your hands all over the fur. Let the “dough” dry, then brush it with a brush, shake it and comb it with a slicker.
    • To delete grease stain from light fur, make a solution of table salt (3 teaspoons), ammonia (1 teaspoon), and water (0.5 liters).
    • The best advice is to contact a professional dry cleaner that specializes in cleaning fur. It is not advisable to remove dust from your pet with a vacuum cleaner: direct air flows are not desirable for fur.

Remember that loves care like real woman! Brush her a couple of times a month with a coarse pet brush, which is available at any pet store.

    How to clean real fur

    Arctic fox

For seasonal care, prepare a solution of ammonia (0.5 liters of water, 1 teaspoon of alcohol, 3 teaspoons of table salt). Moisten a swab with the resulting liquid and remove stains by combing. The last stage of cleaning the Arctic fox is drying the raw fur product.

    Mink

Mink fur cleaning involves restoring the fur's shine. During wear, due to the washing out of the fatty composition, the shine is lost. You can restore it using the following method: dissolve 100 grams of fish or pork fat and 10 g of soap in 1 liter of boiling water. While stirring, add up to 12 drops of ammonia to this mass, cool to 35 degrees and apply this composition to the fur with a brush. Fur storage after such procedures is provided after two days.

    Rabbit

The first thing to do at home is to comb it out with a comb. Next, using a swab generously moistened with acetic acid (5%) or hydrogen peroxide (5%), treat the hair in the direction of fur growth. After this procedure, remove residual hydrogen from the fur with a damp cotton pad. Make sure that the leather lining does not get wet.

    Astrakhan

If your gray astrakhan fur has turned yellow, lighten it with a 5 or 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide (for 1 glass of water, 1 teaspoon of peroxide + a few drops of ammonia).

    Otter, beaver

Products made from mole, otter, and beaver fur are cleaned with hot dry sand. Sprinkle sand up the fur and rub with the palm of your hand. Do this until the dirty fur is completely cleaned.

I hope you can take something for yourself to add to your home treasure chest. Have a nice and enjoyable holiday for your furs! Have a great mood!

From excessive dryness fur product will become dry, from prolonged exposure to light the fur product will fade, the skin will crack, and without fresh air the pile will stop shining.

The fur coat should hang in a spacious closet, on soft and wide hangers, away from heating radiators. Do your best to keep your fur free from cigarette smoke, hairspray and perfume. Since these products are easily absorbed natural fur.

Don't panic if rain or snow gets on your fur item; natural fur can withstand moisture with shine. The fur coat should be shaken and hung on a chair or armchair to dry. To dry fur, do not use a hair dryer or hang it on a radiator. If necessary, if you need to comb your fur coat, it is advisable to do it with your fingers.

You can clean fur at home without the help of a specialist. Heavy soiling on the collar of a coat or fur coat, hem, loops, or sleeves should be wiped with a gauze swab, which should be moistened in table salt and ammonia in a ratio of (3: 1).

Light fur is afraid of sunlight and can turn yellow from it. To keep the product shiny and fresh, you need to wipe the fur with vinegar or glycerin. The more carefully a fur product is stored for storage, it means that there will be more guarantees to preserve it. In the spring-summer period, the fur product must be thoroughly dried, cleaned of dirt and dust, and covered with moth control agents or mothballs.

Then wrap the fur item in cloth and put it in a special case. The anti-moth agent should not be sprinkled on the side of the pile, otherwise the color of the fur will change.

Fur products must be protected from dirt and dust; this can be removed by lightly shaking or using a brush. In sunny and warm weather, you need to ventilate fur products from time to time. Platinum and silver fox boas should be kept hanging in the closet.

Fur hats and muffs should be treated with moth repellents, then wrapped in paper and placed in a box with a tight-fitting lid. Place bags of mothballs at the bottom of the box. Some people cannot stand the smell of mothballs, they can be advised the following remedy: dilute laundry soap in hot water, just not liquid, when the solution has cooled a little, take and lower a canvas bag into the solution, squeeze it out, let it dry. Then put the fur products in this bag.

When storing fur products for a long time, they must be dried and ventilated at least once every 4 months. If fur items get wet from rain and snow, they need to be shaken and dried away from heating and heating devices. Comb dried items with a wide-toothed comb.

Before cleaning fur products, cotton pads are treated with steam. To remove grease and sweat stains, you can use one of the following recipes:

Take one part each of ammonia and denatured alcohol.

To increase the shine of the product, wipe it with a cloth soaked in vinegar and glycerin. Fur items can be cleaned well with semolina; fur items should be sprinkled with semolina and rubbed a little with your hands, as if imitating washing clothes.

If you are caught in rain or snow, dry the fur at room temperature. When the fur is dry, you need to comb it with a metal comb, first along the pile, then against the pile. Then smooth the fur with your hand along the hair growth of the fur. The result will be a fresh, fluffy-looking fur.

    2. Small tears in the skin can be sewn up at home, and cotton threads number 60 or number 80 are suitable for this; you need to sew up the tear from the inner side with an overcast stitch. And holes up to 3 centimeters are sewn up from the fur side, with a seam over the edge, then carefully comb the pile in this place. When sewing on a button, place a piece of leather between the button and the fur, and, having attached the button, leave a “foot” of thread of about 3 millimeters between this piece and the button.

You can clean fur at home if it is not very dirty.

We carry out cleaning in the following ways:

No matter how much opponents argue, natural fur never goes out of fashion: soft, warm, delicate - it always looks luxurious. But often it is not enough to buy an expensive fur coat; you also need to know how to properly care for the fur, how to store and clean it, so that the fur coat looks new many years after purchase. Due to popular demand, I prepared this publication based on my experience and recommendations from many masters, so forgive me if I repeat myself.

Caring for fur is simple and applying this knowledge will help to significantly extend the life of your fur items,
and will allow you to enjoy the joy of owning products made from natural fur longer.

How to care for your fur items daily

When dressing your pet, do not forget that products such as hairspray, perfume, and foundation can damage the fur. Use them in advance.

If you get into a car, it is better to take off your long fur coat so as not to wrinkle or spoil the fur with heated seats.

If a fur item is in a room where people smoke, it will easily absorb the smell of cigarette smoke, and it will be extremely difficult to get rid of it (as will other odors, for example, from the kitchen).

Outside, a snowstorm or even wet rain caught you by surprise - no need to worry if you know the following rule: shake the fur coat and hang it loosely in a well-ventilated area away from heating devices and direct sunlight. It is batteries that can cause fur greatest harm- under the influence of heat, the skin shrinks, and overdried villi become fragile and brittle. Comb the fur through the hair before and after drying.

Fur coats should be hung on special wide hangers that prevent the product from becoming deformed.

When you come from the street, do not rush to hang the fur in your wardrobe, inspect it and remove street dirt from the hem. To do this, let it dry first, and then you can remove it and carefully comb the fur coat with a special fur comb in the direction of pile growth. Try to raise the hem of your fur coat on stairs and in transport.

Another area that gets dirty quickly is the sleeve cuffs and collar. A scarf or neckerchief will help protect the collar from dirt and abrasion, and special muff cuffs will help protect the bottom of the sleeves.

When storing fur items for storage, you must first clean them of dust and dirt and dry them thoroughly. Valuable furs are dried in a draft, less valuable furs are dried in the air, but in the shade. Regardless of the value of the fur, you need to remember: light furs may turn yellow when exposed to direct sunlight, and some colored furs may fade.

All types of natural fur, as well as fur products, like to absorb odors and dust, stains from perfume or foundation may appear on them, lumps and knots often form, and things lose their original shine. This type of fur coat is unlikely to bring joy to its owner. Of course, you need to take your fur coat to the dry cleaner, but many do not trust their favorite item to such establishments, and not every city provides such services.
Therefore, the question of how to clean a fur coat at home remains relevant and is of interest to many women on the eve of cold weather.

Let's try to get acquainted in more detail with methods of cleaning fur coats at home, which are time-tested and quite effective. But if you are not sure that you are able to clean your favorite fur coat yourself, it is better to use dry cleaning services, or try to clean a small area of the fur coat.

To properly clean your fur coat at home, you can use two gentle methods: dry and wet cleaning.

    Dry cleaning fur

Dry cleaning a fur coat at home is considered safer, but it will not be able to remove heavy dirt or greasy stains.

To dry clean a fur coat, you can use products that are found in every housewife’s home: talc, starch, flour or semolina.

They absorb dirt, dust well, and eliminate minor yellow spots, return the fur coat to its original color and shine.
Then lightly rub the fur with your palm and shake off the fur coat. If necessary, you can repeat the cleaning procedure.

If the fur coat is made of light fur, it can be cleaned with starch diluted in gasoline (use gasoline highest quality). A paste is prepared from starch and gasoline, which is applied to the fur of the fur coat, then allowed to dry, and then the starch must be shaken out well and cleaned with a special brush. This product is best used for small but heavily polluted. For example, you can use it to clean your collar or remove juice or grease stains. Starch and gasoline are diluted in equal parts.

    Wet cleaning of fur

Wet cleaning a fur coat is a more responsible procedure that allows you to thoroughly clean your fur coat from stains, dust or other stubborn contaminants. In this case, the fur coat should be cleaned in a vertical position, hanging on a hanger.
There are several methods of wet cleaning a fur coat, which are used depending on the type of fur and the degree of contamination.
Long-haired furs should be wiped with the chosen product in the direction of hair growth, and short-haired ones - against the hair.
After treatment, the hair needs to be carefully combed with a wide-toothed comb, shaken, and then dried at room temperature. Let's look at several ways to wet clean a fur coat.

Grease stains can be removed using purified gasoline, which should be wetted with a cloth and rubbed with light movements. After cleaning, the fur coat should be well ventilated.

There are several ways to restore the whiteness of yellowed fur:

    Hydrogen peroxide solution (1 teaspoon per glass of warm water and a few drops of ammonia) - apply the solution to the hair using a spray bottle and leave the product for one day in bright sun;

    Potato starch or semolina - sprinkle it on the fur and rub it, then shake the fur well and comb it;

To white fur not yellowed, store it in a blue linen bag or blue paper.

You can clean fur at home with rye or wheat bran. The bran is heated in a metal bowl to a temperature “that the hand can tolerate,” and while hot, the fur is rubbed gently and carefully in small sections. Particularly contaminated items can be treated with bran two or three times. After processing the fur, the bran is cleaned off with a brush and the item is beaten out with a thin stick.

Home cleaning fur is also produced using sawdust from deciduous trees. To do this, the sawdust is sifted,
moistened with gasoline and treated with fur, in the same way as with bran. Dry cleaners use sawdust impregnated with special products.
Colored astrakhan fur is cleaned with oatmeal or rye flour.

Stains from foundation or lipstick can be removed with medical alcohol. You need to moisten a cotton pad in a solution of medical alcohol and carefully remove the dirt.

The furs of aquatic animals can be cleaned with hot, dry and clean sand. The fur coat should be laid out on the table, sprinkled with sand and wiped with the palm of your hand. The remaining sand should be shaken off well and, if necessary, apply new sand. After cleaning the fur coat, you need to knock it out or shake it well, so that the sand is completely removed from the item.

Wet cleaning can be done using steam (the steam does not have to be very hot and wet - using a professional steam generator you can get dry steam!). You can use a steam cleaner (also from a distance and with utmost attention - steam with droplets of water!). After steam cleaning, you need to carefully comb the fur coat with a wide-toothed brush.

Stains from grease or sweat on fur can be easily removed with a mixture of ammonia and kitchen salt. You will need 1 teaspoon of ammonia and 3 teaspoons of kitchen salt diluted in half a liter of water. Take a clean cloth or clothes brush, soak it in the prepared solution and wipe the stain on the fur until it disappears. Then dry the fur and comb gently

Considered a safe means for cleaning fur coats. special aerosol for wet cleaning of fur coats, which can be purchased at a special fur care store. Before using the spray, the fur coat should be shaken well to remove dust, spray applied and brushed. Before use, you should read the instructions for using the aerosol.

After cleaning a fur product using a wet or dry method, the fur coat should have a uniform shine over the entire area.
The presence of dull spots indicates that the cleaning was performed poorly. Therefore, additional cleaning is necessary.
If the cleaning is successful, but the fur coat has lost its shine, you can use vinegar essence, which you need to lightly wipe the fur of the fur coat.

It is very difficult to dye/redye a fur skin at home. Please do not believe any “magazine or newspaper” advice! Dyeing fur at home is always a risk of irreversibly damaging the skin! Moreover, it is unknown who and how the skin was processed!
You can only take risks when you have a choice: or throw it away altogether, in case it turns out... But fur and leather are quite expensive materials... And unsuccessful experiments with them can be quite costly.

No less important in caring for a fur coat is its proper storage, which will help protect it from moths, dust, yellowness and other contaminants that may appear during wear.

Cleaning a fur coat at home can either improve the condition of the fur, remove dirt, give it its original shine, or ruin its appearance. It is very important to properly clean your fur coat and not use dubious products!

Let's repeat Several rules that cannot be used when cleaning or storing fur coats.

After cleaning your fur coat, you should not dry it over a fire, radiators, or use a hairdryer.

It should dry on its own, hung in a warm room by its hangers.

As it dries, you need to shake it and comb it with a wide-toothed brush.

There is no need to comb the fur unnecessarily.

It is forbidden to clean fur with washing powder, which contains enzymes. Such powder can ruin the fur. It is better to use liquid powder.

You should not clean your fur coat at home with dubious means.

It is forbidden to store a fur coat in plastic bag, or rolled up.

Fur coats should be cleaned at the end of the season, just before they are put away in the closet.

Use special means against moths based on lavender, which can protect your item. An effective remedy against moths - place dried orange peels or tobacco and geranium leaves, lavender flowers in the case.

If the fur fibers have become matted, lumps and balls have appeared - carefully comb these places with a comb with long, sharp and sparse teeth. If you are dealing with a long-pile product, you can try to first moisten the problem area with an alcohol solution or glycerin and carefully disassemble it with your hands, then comb it in the direction of the natural direction of the pile.

Direct sunlight and temperatures above 25 degrees are considered harmful to a fur coat.

Proper storage and cleaning of a fur coat will help increase the wear life of the fur coat and reduce the amount of dirt.

Long life to your fur products!

    2) When you get home, shake your fur coat, hat and other accessories made of natural fur before putting them back; this action will remove dust from the products and lift up the crumpled fur.

    3) If the fur is exposed to snow or rain, you must immediately shake off the water with a brush and hang it to dry at room temperature, away from heating devices. When the fur dries, you need to carefully comb it with a wide-toothed comb; it is good to purchase a special comb for this purpose. From fur products that have a curl, for example, astrakhan fur, smushka, and merlushka, shake off the water with a clean cloth; combing is not recommended; it is enough to lightly beat the product on the wrong side.

How to properly store items made from natural fur?

    1) When storing fur items, you must first clean them of dust and dry them thoroughly. Valuable furs are dried in a draft, less valuable furs are dried in the air, but in the shade. After which, products made from natural fur can be packed again and stored.

    First aid for fur products.

    1) Minor tears in the fur or a ripped seam can be sewn up yourself. They do this from the side of the mezdra. The threads are taken from cotton (No. 60 - 80), a loop stitch is used, and the hair must be tucked inside the fur.

    2) If it is not possible to repair the product from the inner side, then in this case the tears and seams are sewn up from the front side. To do this, carefully comb the fur and, holding the hair, sew up the damaged area with an “over the edge” seam.

The bran is heated in a metal container to a temperature “that the hand can tolerate,” and while hot, the fur is rubbed neatly and carefully in small sections. 4) Home cleaning of fur can also be done using sawdust from deciduous trees. To do this, the sawdust is sifted, moistened with gasoline and the fur is treated, as well as with bran.

    5) Colored astrakhan fur is cleaned with oatmeal or rye flour.

    6) You can also clean white fur at home. To do this, sprinkle the fur with potato starch or semolina and rub it easily with your hands, simulating washing. Heavily soiled white fur is cleaned with starch slurry mixed with gasoline. This paste is carefully rubbed against the hair, and then lightly rubbed with your hand over the hair. The resulting dirty powder is shaken off, then the fur item is carefully knocked out with a thin stick. In some cases, it may be necessary to carry out two or three treatments.

    7) You can remove yellowness from products made of light sheepskin using potato flour, which is sprinkled onto the fur and generously moistened from a spray bottle with a warm solution of washing powder or laundry soap. The resulting dough-like mass is rubbed with your hands, allowed to dry and brushed off. You may need to perform this procedure several times. Having finished cleaning, the detergent is removed from the fur, the product is lightly beaten and dried. The fur is combed, the matted hair is straightened, giving it the desired direction.

    How to make fur shine?

The nut powder is tied into gauze folded two or three times. Use the resulting swab to wipe the fur over the hair. Soaked in peanut butter will give the product a lasting shine.

What can be done if the tissue has lost its elasticity?

If, due to improper drying or for some other reason, the flesh has lost its elasticity, it must be moistened with a solution (1 tablespoon of vinegar essence, 50 grams of salt and 1 liter of water). The wetted fur needs to be kneaded and stretched in different directions several times with an interval of about three hours. Then the fur needs to be dried, kneaded again and lubricated with a fat emulsion, the product should be rolled up flesh to flesh and left for about five hours. At the end of the exposure period, the fur is dried at room temperature, kneaded and stretched in different directions.

After all, such “shocks” will only worsen the result. The fur coat should dry without outside intervention: hang it on hangers in the room. Never dry a fur item in a closed closet.

After the fur coat has dried in a dry room at room temperature, it should be combed. A fine-tooth comb is ideal for these purposes. When combing, you should also adhere to certain rules: first along the “fur”, then against it. This is necessary so that each lint takes its place. After you comb your fur coat, you need to shake it a little and then run your hand through the pile. This rule is relevant for all fur products, except astrakhan fur.

If your favorite fur coat gets wet enough in the rain, then a qualified specialist - a furrier - will help to “bring it back to life.” Don’t be lazy, take the product to him, otherwise the fur coat may simply lose its shape and become unusable.

During wear, a button may come off a product, but dealing with this problem is not as easy as it might seem at first glance, because buttons are sewn to fur products in a special way. First of all, take care of buying cotton thread 60 - 80 numbers. A piece of dense fabric, leather or suede should be placed between the button and the fur, since it is to this fabric that the button will be sewn. In order for the button to fit freely into the buttonhole, it is necessary to leave space between it and the fabric. By the way, you shouldn’t be upset about a torn button, because there is a sign that this is a pleasant surprise.

Of course, the fur can also get dirty; of course, in this case it needs to be cleaned. It is strictly forbidden to wash natural fur. After this, it will immediately become unusable. Most the best option V in this case You will need to contact a specialized dry cleaner. If this option is not suitable for you, then you can try one of the following traditional methods:

    • Suitable for light stains. You should take a cotton swab soaked in alcohol and wipe the contaminated area with it.
    • If the contamination is more widespread, we recommend heating the bran in a frying pan and sprinkling it on the fur coat. After some time, you should brush off the bran with a brush. For fur coats made from hare fur, astrakhan fur, etc., you can use pure oatmeal instead of bran.
    • For cleaning mink fur coats there is special way. You need to take a cloth and moisten it in purified gasoline, and use the cloth to wipe off the stain. In order to get rid of the smell of gasoline, you can use starch. However, do not overdo it with it, because it attracts moths quite strongly and, in addition, is difficult to remove.
    • There is one more enough interesting way, it implies the use regular shampoo for hair. The proportions in this case should be as follows: one spoon of shampoo per glass of water, the resulting mixture should be used to clean the contaminated areas of the fur product. Then you need to wipe the fur coat with a clean cotton cloth.
    • Women using foundation, they should not wear the product without a scarf, of course, if it has a high collar, since cream stains cannot be removed from the fur even by professional dry cleaning.
    • It’s difficult, but you can remove chewing gum from a fur coat. Here you need to be extremely careful so that no fur-free stain remains on the product. So, first of all, you need to pull out those parts of the chewing gum that are not “sitting” very tightly; you will have to tinker with the rest of the gum. To do this, take ice, wrap it in thick cellophane and apply it to the gum. The hardened parts will be quite easily separated from the fibers. The remains can be carefully combed out with a comb.
    • To remove wine or coffee stains, we recommend using an alcohol solution. This method is not suitable for mouton fur coats.

In all of these methods, it is necessary to wipe off dirt in the direction of the pile. Otherwise, the product may lose its attractive appearance.

If you are not sure that you can handle stain removal on your own, then it is better not to risk it, turn to professionals. After all, a fur coat is an expensive thing and you wouldn’t want to ruin it.

However, remember that on average one fur product can withstand about 5 cleanings without harm, then treatment with chemicals begins to negatively affect the appearance of the product, so try to wear a fur coat as carefully as possible: if possible, do not eat in it, do not wear rain and mud.

Fur coats from various types furs are required various care For example, a mink must be stored in a thick and dark case. Nutria is great for rainy weather, that's the main thing. - dry it afterwards. Rabbit fur should be protected from moisture; cleaning it yourself is not recommended.

Today, there are special cabinets for storing fur products; their peculiarity is that they create the most favorable conditions for natural fur, however, purchasing this kind of cabinet is quite expensive, and the size of most modern apartments does not allow purchasing a separate cabinet for fur coats. That's why let's figure out how to create comfortable conditions for a fur product in a regular wardrobe.

So, first you must find strong and rigid hangers that will not sag under the weight of the fur coat. The hangers must match the size of the product so as not to pull the fur and deform it.

The only thing you should definitely purchase is a special case. Such covers are usually opaque, but due to their special structure they can “breathe”. When hanging a fur coat in the closet, make sure that it is not pressed down by other things. By the way, don’t forget about this trick: you should purchase covers for light fur products of blue color, since in them the product will definitely not turn yellow over time.

Direct sunlight is harmful to natural fur, but the fur coat needs to be taken out of the closet from time to time. For these purposes, it is best to choose a cloudy day. The fur coat should be ventilated in a cool room.

Another important point, which we must not forget: summer is the time for insects, which means you should definitely think about purchasing a moth repellent. There are no special recommendations here; you can purchase any, the most inexpensive product. The most preferred scent is lavender. Be sure to change the moth repellent with the onset of each summer season.

Under no circumstances should a fur coat be stored in a plastic bag or rolled up, otherwise wrinkles may appear on the fur, which will make the product untidy and unpresentable.

Before putting the fur item in the closet, you can lubricate it a little with glycerin. In this case, the fur coat will regain its former shine and attractiveness. Apply glycerin as follows: rub it in your palms, and then carefully apply it to the fur in the direction of the pile.
