Alternative dyes + dyeing techniques
Method 3. Old, proven blue
Perhaps one of the most accessible and cheapest options is how to dye jeans blue. I would consider the advantages of blueing to be ease of use and harmlessness to the skin.
But, alas, it cannot boast of color fastness - it begins to gradually wash out from the very first wash. So regular touch-ups will be required. Although blueing for jeans is short-lived, it requires a minimum of money, effort and time.

Method 4. Hair dye also suits jeans
The paint adheres quite firmly to the fabric and gives beautiful shades. But I still advise using it in extreme cases or exclusively on old jeans that you don’t mind ruining.
The procedure for dyeing trousers using hair dye looks like this:
- Buy paint of the desired shade. For large sizes It’s better to take two packs of trousers.
- Dilute it in enough water, so that the product can be completely immersed there. Stir the paint thoroughly!
- Soak your pants in the resulting solution for 1.5 hours.
- When the time is up, rinse your jeans first just in warm water, and then in cool water with the addition of vinegar and salt.
- Wash it yourself using washing powder.
- Next, dry the product naturally., away from the battery and the sun.
Method 5. Washed jeans using whiteness
Of course, today the market is full of all sorts of different models with abrasions, transitions, drawings, etc. But when you try to dye jeans at home, you end up with something unique, original, and therefore valuable.
All you need is whitewash, an enamel bowl and a gas stove:
- Dissolve 1 cup of regular white in a bucket of water.
- Carefully twist the jeans and secure them in place. position with threads or better rubber bands.
- Immerse the product in this solution and boil for at least 15 minutes on the stove. Make sure that the jeans do not float to the surface.

Method 6. Aniline dyes for color transitions on jeans
Aniline powder paints have been used for a variety of purposes by our great-grandmothers. You can still buy them today, and in an improved form.
If earlier aniline dyes were quickly washed out or faded in the sun, now they are more resistant to water and light. You can find them in hardware departments, craft stores or on the Internet. It is better to buy in liquid form.
It is most convenient to apply aniline paints with soft brushes - squirrel, kolinsky or ferret.
Aniline spreads a lot, which allows you to get an interesting fusion of colors and all sorts of smooth transitions. In this case, you don’t need to add anything to the paint.
If you do not want the effect of smudges, use tragacanth glue in combination with liquid aniline paint (in a ratio of 1:3).
Another way to avoid fabric stains- This is a gelatin primer. For 1 liter of hot water, take 2-3 grams of gelatin. After it is completely dissolved, soak the product in the resulting solution, dry and smooth.
Method 7. Acrylic paint on jeans
Don’t want to change the color of your pants, but just crave something “not like everyone else”? Acrylic paints are ideal for this purpose! I would advise you to apply the design on those jeans that you wear “on the go.” Everyday pants are often washed, so the beauty, patiently drawn with one’s own hand, will quickly fade or crack.
Acrylic paint penetrates well deep into natural fibers and firmly fixed in them. Such paints can be mixed with each other in any ratio and obtain unique shades.
- Before drawing Wash, dry and iron your jeans thoroughly.

- To avoid staining the back of your jeans, isolate it from the front using cardboard or thick paper.
