Straws for cocktails are frequent guests of holidays, parties or out-of-town trips. Well, those who have children often use them at home, even in everyday life. Did you know that you can make a lot of things out of these plastic cocktail straws with your own hands? interesting crafts? We have prepared a great selection of ideas for you.

10 absolutely amazing ideas for using cocktail straws

We hope this inspires you to get creative.

Very often we are forced to take straws for cocktails not in 5-10 pieces, as we need, but in huge bags. Then they get in the way in the closet, and it’s a shame to throw them away. If you are familiar with this problem, you should like these master classes on working with plastic straws. However, it is quite likely that the opposite will happen: you will be so inspired by these crafts that you will immediately go to the supermarket for the required “portion” of straws.

In this selection you will find accessories of varying degrees of complexity. Even children can do some of this (by the way, here you can get ideas for crafts for school). And somewhere cocktail straws are used to create very difficult crafts. However, all this is only at first glance - in fact, you will quickly figure it out.

So, let's go explore the stock of straws, get inspired, and create!

    Decorative star

Such a star made of plastic tubes can be an excellent decoration for a holiday or for a child’s room. This craft can also be used as holiday table decor.

To make this DIY decoration, you will need 20 or more cocktail straws. First connect two pieces together. Then three, four, five - increase the total mass one tube on each side.

The most convenient way to collect straws is with superglue, flattening them in the middle. However, if you wish, you can simply sew them together.

To more securely fix the structure, pull the center with thread, fishing line or wire. You can add a beautiful ribbon to the craft to hang our star.

    Bracelets

It would seem that bracelets made from plastic tubes should appeal only to little girls. The very simple material used to create them. In fact, older girls are also willing to wear such jewelry. It all depends on how to make a bracelet and which tubes to choose for this. Additional decor also plays a serious role.

Take a look at the photo: here are some great ideas.

The top bracelets are made of tubes that are ironed through a thick layer of fabric. If your straws are not too hard, you can simply crush them with your hands. Insert a thin wire into the center of each tube. Make several single bracelets, and then pull them together with another tube. We secure it with wire. Add ribbons, beads or any other decoration.

In the lower right corner is a bracelet, which is assembled from tubes cut into “beads”. Simply take a straw and cut it into equal lengths. Gather them with thread, braid or wire.

The last bracelet is made from twisted sections of tubes. Cut the straw into 3-4 cm pieces, flatten it, insert the wire inside and twist it as tightly as possible. At the same time, make sure that the wire inside does not break. Then the rings need to be assembled onto a base made of braid, wire or elastic. You can make beads in the same way.

    Christmas decorations

Strictly speaking, this is not only a Christmas tree toy, because it can be hung in a child’s room or used as party decor. Even in an ordinary room such geometric figures cocktail straws will look really cool. Their minimalistic design is very interesting.

To make such decorations, we will need at least 6 tubes. If they have a spring, you will have to take more, because it will not look very appropriate. We cut off the excess parts so that we get 4 identical parts. We assemble the square using fishing line, wire or thread.

The side edges can be made identical or an unusual shape can be made by cutting the tubes offset. You can hang such decorations on a regular thread, since the straws are quite light.

Using the same principle, you can assemble the most beautiful geometric designs from plastic juice straws. To make them heavier, insert wire inside.

    Wreath

This simple wreath would make a great Christmas decoration or just decor for a child's room.

We will need a standard package of plastic tubes (can be replaced with paper ones), cardboard, compass and glue. Using a compass, cut out circles on cardboard. If it's thin, make it double or even triple.

Then glue a layer of tubes along the entire perimeter of the circle on one side. The length of the straws needs to be changed constantly - alternate short with long. Then repeat the same on the other side. We glue all the tubes with superglue.

Decorate the craft with a bow or something else. If you are making a wreath for the New Year, choose red or green cocktail tubes, add tinsel or festive balls.

By the way, you can stick this wreath on an old alarm clock or dial - it will make a great watch decor!

    Application

If you have a school-aged child, suggest this idea to him. With the help of plastic tubes, he can create a very cute craft for school with his own hands.

We will need a package of colored tubes, cardboard, pencils, glue, and any decor.

The juice tubes need to be ironed along their entire length to flatten them. Draw a butterfly outline on the cardboard (or use stencils). Place a vertical tube in the center. And around it form wings from scraps.

You can make interesting three-dimensional flowers from “springs”, and decorate the craft itself with stickers, rhinestones or something else.

    Lamp

This craft from cocktail straws seems very simple, but in fact you will make it with your own hands very simply - there are no tricks here. The main condition is the presence of an old unnecessary fabric floor lamp.

To make an original lamp from plastic straws, you will need 2-3 packs of 100 straws. The process will be labor-intensive, slow, but easy to complete.

It is quite possible that you will need to take thin wire. This depends on how thick the fabric in your floor lamp is.

The operating principle is simple. You need to bend each tube in half, flatten it thoroughly in the center, and then insert the ends into the fabric on the floor lamp from the inside. If you pre-install the wire, the structure will be more dense and reliable. Plastic straws should be inserted so tightly that there are no gaps between them. If the fabric does not pierce, use an awl.

The inside of the floor lamp can be additionally glued with a piece of fabric to cover all the folds. Just remember that you can’t leave the tubes sticking out inside, as they will melt from the lamp.

    Photo frame

Another easy craft to make using plastic or paper cocktail straws is a homemade photo frame. Here everything is limited only by your imagination - create to your taste.

You can make a simple frame out of cardboard and decorate it with vertical tubes, cutting them exactly to the size of the accessory. Or leave the straws uneven and sticking out in different directions.

You can also cut two tubes lengthwise and sandwich a photo between them. In the center, place a beautiful thread and additional weighting in the form of a transverse straw. The result is a light hanging photograph in a beautiful frame.

The easiest option is to decorate the finished frame with tubes.

We hope you liked this collection of ideas and are ready to make your own from cocktail straws. unusual crafts. Choose from what is offered here or create something unique.

We advise you to take a look at our master classes on weaving baskets from newspaper tubes. Simply replace them with plastic straws, repeating all the steps described in the lessons. You will get an excellent craft that will be very durable, bright, beautiful and convenient.

Working with juice straws is also very cool because this material is available, and you don’t mind spoiling it (if this happens). So you can train as much as you like to achieve the perfect result. Have fun creating!

The nozzles must be made with a fringe bent outward through one, only then the slugs cannot crawl inside.”

What to do with caps from plastic bottles, juice packs, yoghurts, ketchups, medicines, various caps and other rubbish? Don’t rush to get rid of them - after all, this is good material for children’s, family and even professional creativity! In addition, today plastic is practically not recycled in our country, and you can help preserve nature without sending another batch of garbage to a landfill. And this is not garbage - but puzzles of future masterpieces. We have collected ideas that can help with this!

    "Cover" mosaics

Perhaps almost all crafts with lids involve mosaic techniques to one degree or another. But the easiest way to start is with collages. To do this, the children and I collect more colorful lids, wash and dry them, and then sort them by color. Then we select a pattern and divide it into small squares: each of them more or less corresponds to a color, and you just need to choose a similar cover. They can be attached to any surface - corrugated cardboard(from large shipping boxes - such as a refrigerator, etc.), plywood, metal sheet, concrete wall or wooden fence(the main thing is to choose the right glue). There is no need to apply a stencil to the surface: relying on the pattern lined with squares, we lay out the lids close to each other - the mosaic will still turn out smooth.

You can start with small mosaics - to try your hand, and then you can get a taste for it! For example, Nikolai Petryakov is an ordinary resident of Bratsk who creates large-scale mosaics directly on the walls of his house. In our photo there is a reproduction of Shishkin, and the remaining walls were covered by a self-taught master with some kind of embroidery with patterns. What about “Bears in the Forest” - you can use your favorite images and even family photos if you wish. And if the dacha is absolutely not suitable for this, then almost every yard has uncomfortable fences or garages. Give a gift to some playground!

Here's another lady who can inspire with mosaic ideas - Michelle Stitzlein. She not only found a worthy use for plastic covers, but also figured out how to make the panels more voluminous: for this, Michelle attaches the covers with the convex part down.

Vase made of straws for cocktails or juice

She has a variety of magical scrap art from Starry Night to wall-sized rainbow butterflies - but we love the watermelon!

Here is a self-portrait from Chicago artist Mary Ellen Croteau - an excellent example of using a photo in a mosaic of lids. She worked on it for a whole month - after all, the dimensions of the panel turned out to be 2.5 by 2.1 meters. But what is the result... And don’t worry about the complexity of the task - Mary also started with the simplest drawings.

    Covers in the garden

Garden furniture can be different: some people have expensive “wicker” from the store at their dacha, while others make it themselves using scrap materials. In the latter case, it can be decorated with plastic covers and create an interesting effect (at the same time masking the imperfections of the furniture).

“Paved” paths are especially good between the beds. Of course, many people want to relax in nature without anything artificial - and would rather prefer stone or gravel. But covers are a low-budget way to walk through your garden after rain and keep your shoes clean. And it’s also a way of self-expression!

Decorations for a playground or garden bed can be made more functional if you give them the shape of carrots, tomatoes, eggplants and other fruits that grow in the garden. Each bed can be marked with a corresponding “sign” - especially since while the seedlings are small, it is not always easy to understand who is in front of us. We take plywood and cut out a figure template. We nail a longer stick to it and paint the workpiece in desired color. All that remains is to attach the covers using small nails - the plug is ready.

    Toys made from lids

Ladybugs and baby frogs are family friends! It’s not difficult to make them: just paint the lids suitable color Using a black permanent marker, glue on cardboard paws and beady eyes (or you can also use blank eyes, which are sold in craft stores). You can place animals in the garden or on a bookshelf.

    Everything for everyday life

The Greek master Athanassios Babalis invented such a shopping bag (370 covers) and an ottoman chair (1250 covers) especially for the Green Design 2008 festival in Athens. The work, by the way, is not dusty: we take the lids and put four holes in each at the same distance from each other. To do this, you can use a thin knitting needle heated over a gas burner (plastic melts like butter) - just do this without the participation of children.

Then everything is simple: we connect the covers into “chain mail” using fishing line or thick threads, and from this fabric we model a string bag, a massage mat for feet, or a curtain - with patterns, drawings, creative “chaos” or plain ones. And if you fasten the lids with wire, you can get a basket.

    Curtains made from lids

Here we don’t need “chain mail” - after all, these are curtains made from separate garlands of plastic covers. Therefore, in each of them you need to make only two holes and string large “beads”. They need to be secured to a wooden block or fishing line stretched in the doorway. If you wish, you can organize a simple pattern.

    Fridge magnets

A necessary thing in the house! They can hold notes and photos, or simply decorate the kitchen. We have two options: emoticons or berries. “Cherry” is a little more difficult to make, so it’s better to show the progress of the work on them - and the rest is the same. So, we make a small cut on the red lid and pass a green cord (the stem of the berry) through it. Fill the lid with plasticine, but not to the very edges. We connect the second end of the lace to the other cherry lid. In the middle of the lace we tie a green ribbon with a knot or a bow - these will be the leaves. We lightly press the magnets (depending on the size) into the plasticine or glue them to the edges of the lid. That's all - where is our refrigerator?

    Beads from caps

If you make a couple of holes in the lids, they can be used along with the rest of the change to create colorful necklaces - they will come in handy in children's games, as garlands for the holidays, or even as Christmas tree decorations. And this is just the beginning: in the next issue we’ll see what metal lids can do!

Giving things a second life has become very fashionable these days. After all, why throw something in the trash that could become useful thing. A yoghurt jar can also make a great souvenir if you make a basket out of it using fabric. You can store useful little things in such a basket, and it will become a worthy decoration for your souvenir shelf. Or you can put a small and useful thing and give a basket to a loved one. Then it will acquire additional value, because your soul will be invested in it.
    Materials for making the basket:

    • - Oval yogurt jar;
    • - Fabric for finishing;
    • - A piece of lace or ribbon for decoration;
    • - Wire for the handle;
    • - Glue (you can use any glue, but hot glue is more convenient to work with and the work will go faster);
    • - Scissors;
    • - Ruler;
    • - Simple pencil;
    • - Medical white adhesive tape (you can use masking tape);
    • - Waste cardboard – a small piece.
    Making the basket:
    1. Cut the wire to the required length. It is better that it is at least 24 cm.

    2. Carefully, so as not to damage the plastic, use scissors to make indentations in the rim of the jar in order to insert the handle there.

    3. Place the wire in these recesses and secure it to the sides of the can with adhesive tape or masking tape. To make sure the handle stays on, you can drop a drop of glue into the gap between the wall and the adhesive plaster.

    4. Wrap the handle of the basket with a ribbon or thin strip of fabric that you plan to use to trim the basket. Secure the edges of the fabric strip with glue.

    5. Trace the bottom of the jar on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. Cut the same oval, only with an edging of +1 – 1.5 cm, from fabric.

    6. Make ray cuts along the edge of the fabric. These rays need to be glued one after another to the cardboard.

    7. Then, stretching the fabric to avoid unevenness, glue the remaining rays. This will be the bottom of the basket.

    8. A piece of fabric the right size(such that it covers the inner walls of the jar and is secured to the rim of the jar) place it on the bottom of the jar, distribute the folds. Apply glue to the bottom of the prepared basket from the bottom, insert the bottom into the basket and press it to the bottom of the jar.

    9. Drape the fabric and secure it with glue to the rim of the jar, trim off the excess along the edges. The interior of the basket is ready!

    10. Exterior finishing is done in almost the same way. The fabric should be of such a size that it covers the walls of the jar.

    11. Form folds from the fabric, secure with glue on top of the jar under the rim, trim off the excess fabric along the edges.

Greetings, creative ladies! Get ready for the MK to be detailed, and therefore long and tedious. After all, if you are a teapot, then every detail is important to you.
Preamble. The girls from the forum once gave me a bunch of yogurt jars. And a bunch of different rags - pieces, cuts, scraps, ribbons, lace. I didn’t throw it away, because everything will come in handy in a good household. And then the hands finally reached them. At first it was decided to make a pincushion; after all, this is a necessary item in the household of even the most uneconomical madam; it will be useful to absolutely any woman. A basket like this, seen on the forum, came to mind “ Handmade“, but I didn’t find any descriptions of its manufacture or MK for it. In general, I did as God told me to do. In the process, I realized that the basket does not need to be filled with foam rubber, then it will be possible to put something in it. By the way, I remembered that Easter is in a month, and eternal question in what packaging to give colored eggs. I decided that the basket would come in handy... While I was making the egg basket, the idea came to me that I could make a lid for the basket, then you would have a full-fledged box in which you can not only store jewelry, but also give it as a gift. cash gifts. It looks much more aesthetically pleasing than an envelope, and then the new owner can use it as a jewelry box, while remembering you with gratitude. While I was making the box, I thought that you could make a stroller box out of a yogurt jar, then it wouldn’t be a shame to congratulate your friend on the birth of a child by putting some money inside. While I was making the stroller, another idea for a box was born in my imagination. I hope I have enough imagination to make it and I will be able to demonstrate it to you over time.

    1) pincushion

    2) basket

    3) little box-basket

    4) stroller box

Well, now the ambula or plot, or whatever they say.
To write less, I had to take more photographs. I myself am in many ways a teapot, so I like it that in the MKs that I read, it is clear from the first time how to do what. That’s why I write so tediously and in detail. Some of the photos are not very clear, I apologize for that. I’ll write about the materials and instruments as the play progresses, because all of them can be replaced with something else, depending on your imagination.

    1) So, let's begin. We take a jar of yogurt and figure out where it is and what the handle will be made of. The classic placement is in the widest part of the jar (see photo No. 1 of this item), if you decide to make a stroller-box, you can attach it both to the sides of the jar and attach it to the lid (see photo of the “stroller” of this item).

Handles can be made from non-exotic materials that are found in almost any home.

    A) The most sure thing is a fairly bendable aluminum wire coated with PVC. I bought it at the World of Electrics store, although for other purposes, that’s why I have one on my household. It bends only under good pressure, so the weight of the box will not sag or deform. And this is the only handle I recommend for a stroller.

We bend a piece of wire in an arc, calculate the height to your taste, and cut it off. We attach it with something very sticky. I had my eye on a domestic adhesive plaster and double-sided tape. This is something that is really difficult to peel off, even if it accidentally gets wet. The appearance of the patch is unaesthetic, but no one there will ever see it.
First, I figured out where the handles would be located, cut indentations in the jar with a knife and attached double-sided tape under them. The jar is so fragile that you need to act carefully, otherwise it will crack. If it is cracked, cover it with 2 layers of adhesive tape. Then I wrapped the ends of the wire-handle with adhesive tape so that they would stick well to the tape. Then I glued a wire handle onto the tape. And on both sides I secured the ends of the handle with adhesive tape.

Now we wrap it with something cute. I was wrapped in in this case straps from a piece of satin nightie left in the bins. Since the straps were short, I wound them towards each other, and at the junction there was a thickening. But then I covered it with a bow, and the thickening became completely unnoticeable. The ends inside the jar can be glued with glue (I use transparent “Contact”) or adhesive tape. I also wrapped the handle with the same fabric that was used to decorate the basket, and wrapped it with nylon tape on top. I also wrapped it satin ribbon, and on top of nylon. You can also tie it with crochet, or using the macrame principle - with knots. I think you won't have any problems with this point.

    Straps

    fabric and nylon tape

    b) If there is no wire, then the handle can be made from a plastic bottle of any color. Or from a plastic shampoo jar. This is definitely something that can be found in any apartment. I cut off the “bracelet” in the place where there is no narrowing on the bottle, in the middle. Cut the cut bracelet into a rectangle. Cut an even strip of the required thickness from it. And wrap it, as in the case of wire. But keep in mind that the handle will be quite flexible; it won’t be suitable for a stroller, but it will be fine for a basket. It can be made less flexible by twisting it in a spiral over a candle. Just twist it and immediately give it an arched shape. Otherwise, after processing over a flame, it will be difficult to bend it later.

    c) I also had cheap hoop earrings, my sister gave them away because they had oxidized. And I made the handles for the first two baskets from them. By the way, they could be painted and not wrapped. I attached them one from the inside, the second from the outside, making holes in the jar with an awl.

    d) you can still come up with a lot of options for what to build a handle from. But if you make it from cardboard, then cover it on both sides with fabric; it will prevent the cardboard from tearing during use.

    2) Now the outer and inner decoration of the jar.
Again, we divide it into a pincushion and a basket.

    a) Pincushion

If we are making a pincushion, then only the outer finish is important to us.
Select a piece of fabric of such a size that its edges can be folded inward.

We cut out an oval from corrugated cardboard, the size of the bottom of the jar. (I cut out 2 pieces at once).

Since I wanted the fabric to fit tightly on the outside of the jar, I glued double-sided tape along the outer perimeter of the jar. I couldn’t glue it with glue because the fabric was very thin and the glue seeping through it caused stains after drying. I covered the label with adhesive tape so that it would not show through the fabric.

I wrapped the fabric inside and glued it to the bottom. I glued corrugated cardboard on top. Then she wrapped it in organza and tucked the ends in, gluing them to the corrugated cardboard. I pressed it on top with a second piece of corrugated cardboard.

Now we roll up the foam rubber into a tube, wrap it with fabric and sew it together. Measure the width of the tube first. It needs to fit tightly in the basket.
Then we stuff the foam rubber into the basket and the pincushion is ready! Decorate the top the way you think is most convenient and beautiful. Voila! Now the gift is ready. Modest, but tasteful.

    b) Basket

If we are making a basket, then the internal design is no less important to us than the external one.
As with the pincushion, I cut an oval out of corrugated cardboard to fit the bottom of the jar. I cut out an oval from fabric a little larger in diameter than the oval from cardboard. I cut the fabric. I made the cuts perpendicular to the cardboard so that it looked like rays of the sun. I glued the rays to the cardboard one at a time, pulling them slightly towards the middle. I waited until it dried. I glued the remaining rays. back side- this will be our bottom in the jar.

Now the fabric for interior decoration put it in the basket, distribute it evenly, pour glue onto the bottom and press it on top with our new bottom made of cardboard covered with fabric. When the glue has set well, we begin to glue the cloth in a circle to the edges of the basket at the top. We do this carefully and gradually, 1-2 cm at a time. When all the edges are glued to the jar, we cut off the excess fabric hanging from the edges. So we have a neat interior design of the basket. I’ll tell you a secret, working with knitted fabrics is a pleasure when you compare them with satin ones.

The external design is also not difficult to do; the most important thing is not to stain the fabric with glue. Lay out the fabric on the table. Place the basket in the middle of this piece of fabric. The piece should be of such a size that all edges reach the edge of the jar. It doesn't matter whether it's round or square. In my photo it’s round only because the piece itself was that shape.

Carefully glue the fabric to the edges of the jar, overlapping the interior fabric. We carefully trim off the excess that falls inside with nail scissors (if you don’t have thin tailor’s scissors). Now the base of the basket is ready. We decorate the edge so as to hide our glued edges. I covered it with organza with elastic. On top of the elastic I sewed roses from an organza ribbon to match the fabric on the basket. I sewed roses with one needle and sewed them to the basket with the second.

Well, here we have another beauty! You can safely put an Easter egg there and go visit.

In the pink basket, I swapped the order of decoration, first I decorated the jar on the outside, and then on the inside. I first pinned the tape with needles, and then slowly glued it on.

    3) If we want to make a basket-box, then we will need a lid. I made it in the same way as in MK using boxes from spools of tape. For those who have seen it, you can skip this point. For those who don’t know, I’ll write it again.
I took a very thick piece of cardboard box and cut out two ovals in the shape of the top of the basket. then I glued them together. A little, so as not to cut off excess, we trim the edges, adjusting the size of the lid so that it fits tightly inside the basket along with the fabric that will be covered. Then we cut out an oval a little larger so that it “lies” on the basket without falling inside; this will be the top of the lid. it can be seen in the fourth photo.

Here I duplicate a piece from MK using round boxes, so instead of an oval in the photo there will be a circle. Don't let this bother you. So, we glue both cardboard ovals.

Then we glue the fabric to the inside of the oval. The finished box shows that the fabric fits tightly to the bottom and ends of the lid.

As soon as it sticks, we pull the fabric from above, having previously made it in a circle. We fix it in this position by first tying a knot in the thread, and then gluing the ends of the fabric to the cardboard. The finished box shows that the fabric is gathered at the top.

And we decorate the top of the lid, as our artistic taste tells us.

    4) I made the stroller using the same principle. I just made a frame on the lid for the hood of the stroller and covered it with fabric. But I won’t show you how I did it yet, because I myself am not yet entirely satisfied with the result so that I can, with a clear conscience, advise you exactly this manufacturing option.

    top view of the lid

    bottom view of the lid

I hope you have the patience to watch this MK to the end))) If something is not clear, write, I will correct the master class.
Thank you for your attention! Good luck to everyone in your creativity!

To come up with a child new toys or you don’t need much to make a simple craft. Usually a little free time and our imagination are enough. What to make it from? - will be at hand. My son and I already have a whole flotilla of yogurt jars, and the best ships we have made are from viola jars and soft butter. We will devote this review to toys and crafts that you can make with your child from all sorts of “garbage” - boxes and boxes, cardboard, plastic bottles and much more.

    1. Cardboard boxes and boxes

Let's start, perhaps, with crafts made from boxes and smaller boxes. Boxes of different sizes regularly appear in each of us (especially during the holidays), but we usually try to get rid of this “happiness” as soon as possible, since storing them is completely inconvenient. But you can immediately put them into action

    Big boxes.

Large boxes make absolutely amazing toys for children.

    6. Cocktail straws

With the help of such tubes you can draw very interesting bubbles

And the tubes are also great as masts for boats.

You can come up with many different games with these straws. For example, you can arrange “air” football. Roll a small ball out of paper and use a straw to chase the “ball.” Using the same principle, you can play to see who gets the ball farther away or who gets to the finish line faster. These kinds of games are very useful; they are a kind of breathing exercises.

    7. Sponges

Even the most ordinary sponge can turn into...

garden bed (it’s fun to germinate seeds in a large-pored sponge)

Or make stamps for painting or just paint with a sponge (rainbows work especially well)

To make it more convenient to draw with such stamps, you can glue them, for example, onto a wine cork, like here

You can also make heads for robots from sponges, for example.

    8. Wine corks

On the Internet you can find a huge variety of photographs on the topic of crafts made from corks, but we will limit ourselves only to stamps

Send us your interesting finds of crafts from what is at hand, and also share with us what you have made! This topic is inexhaustible and I think we will return to it more than once

Every housewife strives for ideal cleanliness and order in the house, so all women try to get rid of excess trash as quickly as possible. But you don’t need to be so categorical; for example, plastic food packaging should be saved.
Today we will share with you the secret of creating a charming little thing from plastic containers. Children will be delighted with this idea; by the way, they can be involved in joint production.

    YOU WILL NEED
    plastic box
    scissors
    hole puncher
    colored permanent markers
    PROGRESS
Cut out the bottom of the package. All you need is the flat part of a plastic container.

Print any outline picture. You can use coloring for these purposes.

Redraw the picture onto the plastic using permanent markers. Please note that the final size of the figurine will be reduced by approximately 70%. Therefore, initially the drawing should be large.

Using a hole punch, make a small hole above the design and cut out a plastic figure along the outline.

After preheating the oven to 165 degrees, place the plastic figures on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the figures for exactly 3 minutes.

After baking, each of the figures will become smooth and denser. Now they can be attached as decoration to the bracelet.

These figures can also be used as New Year's toys to the Christmas tree! If you liked this craft idea, share the article with your friends.
My name is Irina, I live in Germany - in a country where absolutely everything is sold in plastic packaging, which migrates in tons from stores to trash cans. I've been doing it for a long time different types handicrafts and am constantly faced with the issue of optimal storage of a bunch of little things that accumulate all the time and require new boxes, caskets, etc. In this master class I want to show several types of creating convenient storage containers from various plastic packaging. The advantage of this kind of containers is that they are easy to make at home, they can be made in any size and in any quantity, the transparency of the plastic allows you to quickly find the right thing, material for containers can be found in every home, such containers for small items can also be used in the country house, in the garage, etc...
So, first we’ll make the simplest mini-container from a plastic bottle:

We heat the tip of the knife to make it easier to start cutting the bottle.

Cut the bottle into two parts with a knife. If the bottle does not have edges, in order to avoid large errors when cutting, glue the tape at the required height and cut the bottle exactly along the edge of the tape.

Let's melt the edges of the bottle a little to avoid cutting your hands during further processing. The bottle should be kept at a distance of 0.5-1 cm from the flame, turning evenly. The unevenness of the edges after heat treatment will hide the crocheting.

We heat up a steel knitting needle and make holes along the edge of the bottle, which will have to fit the size of the hook with which we will tie the edges of the bottle.

When you pierce plastic with a hot knitting needle, sharp and dark traces of plastic often remain on the surface... They can be removed different ways, I use a regular grater to clean my feet (the sandpaper is too sharp - it damages the surface of the plastic, it’s not very convenient to use a knife)

Now we proceed to crocheting the edge with a single crochet.

We thread the tip of the thread and glue it inside the container.

Then we thread a thick thread into a gypsy needle and sew the entire row with colored thread, without missing a single hole.

We thread the end of the thread and glue it again.

If desired, our small container can be decorated. The easiest way to decorate is with double-sided tape, ribbon and rhinestones. You can also use thread winding on double-sided tape.

Cut the tape to the required length and glue it with double-sided tape. We cut off the excess tape.

We make a bow at the junction, you can stick on a rhinestone and the mini-container is ready!

We make different containers of the required height and glue them with a gun into a larger and denser plastic package (the photo shows the packaging in which we sell food products)

Apply hot glue to the bottom and quickly glue the container to the package (hold it a little so that it sets properly)

We glue double-sided tape, any tape, or wrap it with thread on our box, decorate it with little things, and our first box for little things is ready! I made this box for the dacha to store various little things that you are always looking for in different boxes: pencils, small tools, keys, etc.

If we make a high strap on our containers from plastic bottles and thread a cord, then we will get pencil cases that can be either placed or hung. They take up little space and are easy to see

Another option for making boxes for storing small items: in it I used thick plastic cups from Danone yogurt.

The principle of making a box is the same, if the height of the box allows, you can make two tiers from cups, using cardboard (or thick plastic) for the bottom of the second tier, onto which I glued it with hot glue plastic bottom from packaging.

If desired, boxes for small items can be made with lids. For these purposes, I took old plastic folders, cut them to the size of the box and, after making holes with a hole punch or a hot knitting needle, stitched them together with the edge of the plastic box. Since in the photo I have a two-tier plastic box, for convenience I made a handle from scraps of the folder, which I also glued with hot glue to the bottom of the second tier.

The finishing elements are glued with hot glue.

Large plastic bottles can be used to make excellent containers for storing small toys, designer parts, etc. for a children's room and kitchen. Decorating such containers can be a joint activity for parent and child. The principle of creating such a large container is exactly the same as shown above.

From the remaining top parts of plastic bottles we can make a lot of exotic flowers and decorate our balcony or country cottage area. But this is a topic for another master class!
