    Topiary from satin ribbons: master class

    To begin with, we will make the petals, for this we take a yellow ribbon and cut out the petals with a width of 5 cm and a length of 6 cm, in total you need to cut 40 pieces. We fold one petal in half, cut off the corner, and with the help of a lit candle we glue the edges, thereby creating a sharp petal. On the other hand, we fold the petal so that a small ball can be put inside (that is, there should be some kind of pocket inside). We take a disk, a glue gun and glue a petal on the edge of the disk. We make the following petals according to the same principle.

    We take the tape Green colour, cut out the petals 5–6 cm long. Then we fold the petal in half, bend the left edge towards ourselves, and wrap the right edge away from us. We make folds at the base, and glue the edges above the candle.

    Thus, we glue the rest of the petals to the disk. Since it's a sunflower, the petals yellow color glue only two layers.

    Fill the void in the middle of the disk with coffee beans. To do this, you again need a glue gun.

    Let's move on to the stem. To do this, you will need a stick, glue and green tape. We wrap the stick with ribbon, glue a few petals to the stem.

    We glue the stem to the flower, insert the stem into the pot and fill it with plaster. We hold the flower for a while so that it fixes. After the flower is firmly held, you can hide the plaster with grains by gluing. This is done so that the aroma of coffee is brighter.

    Glue on the petals ladybugs. We make four petals from red ribbons. From the remaining yellow ribbon we make 4 petals, smaller in size, glue them together and lay them out on the coffee "seeds" in the form of a butterfly. Beads can be used to make dew on petals or seeds. This completes the production of the sunflower.

    Now your room will be enveloped by the aroma of wonderful coffee! Such a topiary is suitable as a gift for a coffee lover. Feel free to experiment and create wonderful topiaries. And let these wonderful examples of satin ribbon trees serve as your inspiration.

    Svetlana Vladimirovna, could not ignore your sunflowers. They are great!!! The master class describes all the stages of work in detail and in an accessible way. I will definitely try to make something like this.
    Another legend about the appearance of a sunflower came to us from a far, far away land of the Aztecs.
    They say it happened a long time ago. Then in the country of the Aztecs there lived a little charming girl with nice name- Xochitl. In the Aztec language it meant "flower".
    The girl adored the sun and admired it from dawn to dusk. When the sun went down in the evening, she walked home sadly, living in a dream that tomorrow she would see him again.
    It so happened that whole year the sun came up every day, and not once, not for a moment, did the clouds cover it. For Xochitl, this was an incredible happiness.
    However, what was a joy for her turned into a terrible misfortune for the maize crops: the stalks stopped reaching up, the cobs did not become heavy. In addition, the beans and peppers also stopped growing. Without rain, all plants suffered, from thirst they drooped to the very ground. The drought left the fields barren. People started dying from hunger. The Aztecs prayed daily to the gods, asking for rain. Seeing all this, Xochitl understood why people endure suffering and hunger. To cause rain, she went to the temple of Tonatiu, the god of the Sun, and turned to him with a prayer. She asked him to hide behind the clouds and save her people.
    The little girl's prayer reached the sun god Tonatiu. And now the whole sky was covered with a carpet of clouds. The long-awaited rain came. So much water poured out that the completely bent maize began to rise merrily and all its cobs swelled from large, full-weight grains.
    Everyone around was filled with joy. Only poor Xochitl felt sad: she suffered without the sun she loved so much. Without him, she slowly faded away, but then a bright ray broke through the clouds and ordered Xochitl to go to the sacred village, where the sun never disappears, where flowers always bloom. There, her name will not be Xochitl, but Xochitl-Tonatiu (which in Aztec means "flower of the sun").
    So the pretty girl turned into a beautiful flower of sunny color, with a dark center - just like her hair and eyes -. Every day this flower opens towards the sun at dawn and turns after him in his daily journey through the sky until sunset...
    From that very time, at the beginning of autumn, in all fields, and especially maize, these golden flowers begin to bloom. The Indians affectionately call them xochitl-tonatiu, which means sunflower in translation.
    The history of the sunflower goes back to the third millennium BC. Studies show that already at that time, even before the "domestication" of cereals, the flower was cultivated by North American Indians. Its seeds were eaten, used as a medicine, and dyes were produced. The Incas worshiped the sunflower as a sacred flower.
    Creative success to you. My vote is +1.

    Sunflowers are a special art object, a theme that has been played up more than once in world art. Therefore, someone will perceive the topiary in the form of a sunflower as nostalgia for rural romance, and someone as “hello Van Gogh”. In any case, a sunflower tree will turn out beautiful and bright, it is a great thing for home decor.

    Topiary is often called the tree of happiness; coffee has already become a traditional material for creating such a tree. This is explained by the fact that you get not just a souvenir tree, but an aroma souvenir. And with the help of cheap satin ribbons, you can quite quickly make very believable petals with your own hands.

    Work begins with the collection of all necessary materials and tools:

    • Satin ribbon with a width of two and a half centimeters, the color of the ribbon should ideally match the color of the sunflower petals.
    • Drape or green felt;
    • Beautiful coffee beans;
    • Ordinary colorless varnish(possible for nails);
    • Jute twine (or any other thin twine);
    • Strong adhesive;
    • Wire;
    • Alabaster;
    • Blank-ball (for example, from papier-mâché);
    • Tennis ball (table tennis ball);
    • Pencil;
    • Ruler;
    • Scissors.

    You may also need a burner. After all the materials are collected, prepare the work surface. This is most likely a large table with good proper lighting. Spread the material on the table, so that it is convenient to take, and so that they do not interfere with your work.

    Master class: step by step making topiary from ribbons and coffee

    So, you can start.

    Procedure:

    1. Cut off a piece of satin ribbon, the length of this segment is 12 cm;
    2. From the ribbon you need to fold the petal by bending, the photo shows which petal should end up;
    3. Fix the finished petal, so that the ribbon does not unfold, can be a good glue or a burning machine;
    4. Other petals are made according to the model of the first, usually 16 pieces are enough for a flower and 8 for a bud;
    5. The core will be a papier-mâché ball - this is the middle of a sunflower;
    6. The core of the bud is a tennis ball;
    7. On both parts, and on papier-mâché, and on the ball, you spread glue, attach coffee beans;
    8. Paint over the grains with a transparent varnish;
    9. With glue, the petals are attached to the centers of the flowers;
    10. Next, the master class involves making a stem: for this, spread a thick wire with glue and wrap it with twine;
    11. From green drape or felt, make sepals;
    12. sepals with reverse side attached to the flower
    13. The stems are connected to the heads of sunflowers;
    14. Leaves are made from the remains of green material;
    15. The main part of the craft is already ready, it remains only to install it in a pre-prepared pot, after which the flower is fixed with alabaster.
    16. You can disguise alabaster with colored straws.

    Here is such a fairly simple master class for topiary from ribbons and coffee. But this is such a universal template that can be transformed and improved.

    Sunflower design options from ribbons and coffee

    Coffee topiary can be arranged in different ways. If this is, for example, a birthday present, you can put inside the tree greeting card or tie a bunch of bright yellow balloons to it.

    And you can focus on the decor of the pot:

    • You can arrange the pot itself in such a sunflower range - for example, make a decoupage of the container using thematic clippings;
    • You can make a decorative winding of a pot out of ribbons, it is not necessary to use only yellow ribbons, take a combination of colors that will look advantageous in the place where the tree will stand;
    • The pot can be decorated with a combination of yellow and brown beads.

    If you are making a gift, you can attach a jar of good coffee and a bag in addition to the tree useful seeds, not necessarily sunflower - you can also pumpkin.

    Variations on the creations of the flowers themselves

    The core of coffee beans is an integral element of this topiary, as for the basis for this core, it does not have to be spherical.

    You can cut a circle out of thick cardboard, glue it with newspapers for greater thickness, and glue grains on this flat circle, and fix petals from ribbons on it.

    If you look at more than one good master class, you can identify a couple of interesting ideas:

    1. To hide alabaster or gypsum, which allow the tree to stand in a pot, a beautiful colored sisal can;
    2. Decorative ladybugs, bugs, butterflies also look great on such a flower tree;
    3. If you do not want to mess with satin ribbons, you can take crepe paper, from which petals are easily made, bend well, take any shape;
    4. Green leaves can also be made from crepe paper, one minus - it is brittle, and it is easy to bend it;
    5. From crepe paper, you can make a frame for the coffee core - cut dark blue, literally black paper with a fringe, which will favorably emphasize the middle of the flower;
    6. At the foot of the tree, you can "plant" other plants - golden spikelets, cornflowers, chamomile, from which the topiary will be a real corner of pure nature in your house.

    Simplify a complex master class “for yourself”, replacing one part with another. Instead of wire, you can decorate a sushi stick or a simple pencil under the stem. You can manually stitch the veins on the leaf or in general, for example, do not decorate the pot, but immediately buy the right one in the flower shop.

    Today we bring to your attention a "warm" bright topiary "Sunflower".

    To make a topiary "sunflower" you will need:

    Coffee beans;

    Children's plastic ball from a dry pool (for large flowers);

    Tennis balls (for small flowers);

    Varnish "mahogany";

    Yellow satin ribbon 5 cm wide;

    Wire + green tape;

    Lighter, tweezers;

    Glue "Titan", thermal gun.

    Topiary "Sunflower" step by step:

    For large flower we take a children's plastic ball from a dry pool, for small ones there are tennis balls. Before gluing, it is necessary to paint so that no gaps are visible - here the paint is from a spray can. The stem is a wire wrapped with a satin ribbon. It is easier to stick it on hot glue, for which apply glue to the upper end of the stem and insert it, after a couple of seconds it will harden tightly.

    It is more convenient to stick the grains on the Titan glue (this is the usual glue for ceiling tiles), and the petals are more convenient on hot glue, well, you can use Titan, it will just take longer to dry. The fact is that it is more difficult to stick grains on hot glue, and with Titanium, there are many advantages ... it is not expensive (1 liter 100 rubles), it is transparent when dried, and even after a minute you can unfold the grain or replace it with a larger or smaller one so that there are no gaps. No need for a second layer! But here it's a matter of taste.

    Cover the glued ball with mahogany varnish.

    We cut a ribbon 2.5 cm wide - 7 cm. Approximately 15 petals go to one flower. Ribbon 5 cm. 10 cm wide - 16 petals.

    Fold the tape in half, cut off the sharp corner, walk along the cut with a lighter, then wrap the edges on the “face” and also walk with a lighter.

    We begin to glue on hot glue.

    The sepals in this sunflower are made of paper, but it's better to use a green ribbon - it will come out more beautiful and more practical!

    You can stick the petals in one row or in two rows. Insert the finished flowers into a container with diluted gypsum to a state of thick sour cream, wait until they seize. Can be sprinkled on top ground coffee. Flower height - 75 cm! Petals can be of different shapes.

    To create a flower you need:

    • roasted coffee beans;
    • satin ribbons (yellow and green);
    • wire, stick;
    • computer disk or foam ball;
    • candle or lighter;
    • scissors;
    • tweezers;
    • instant glue.

    Beads, figurines of ladybugs, butterflies or other insects are suitable for decorating a flower. A topiary can be made as a single flower, but several sunflowers of different sizes will look much more interesting.

    How to make a flower based on a computer disk will tell step-by-step instruction:

    1. Cut a yellow ribbon 5 cm wide into pieces 6 cm long. You will need about 40 pieces of such parts.
    2. Fold one end of the strip in half and cut off a piece of fabric at an angle of approximately 45°.
    3. Holding the slices with your fingers, burn the edges over the candle fire. Squeeze the melted edge with tweezers so that the sections are securely connected.
    4. At the opposite end, visually mark the middle of the cut. To this point, carefully fold the halves of the tape, making folds on each. In this case, one of the folds should be aligned with the edge of the tape, and the other with the fold of the second half. The cut remains straight. In general, the whole design is similar to a bow fold.
    5. Burn and squeeze the cut with tweezers. The petal will look like this. Make a lot of petals and glue them along the edge of the disk in 2 rows, overlapping the gaps between the lower ones with the upper parts.
    6. From the reverse side, insert a stick for the stem into the hole in the disk. A piece of branch must be wrapped with green tape, inserting leaves between the turns. For reliability, grease the junction of the stem with the disk with glue.
    7. From the green ribbon make sepals and leaves. To do this, the tape must be cut into pieces 11 cm long. Fold the segment in half so that one part takes a perpendicular position with respect to the other. Wrap the end that is on top away from you, aligning the edges with the edges, and the cut with the cut.
    8. Lay folds on the cut sides. Holding, melt the cut, pinch with tweezers. Stick on the disc from the side where there are no petals. Sepals need to fill the entire lower surface of the disk, slightly releasing them beyond the edges and hiding the place of attachment of the stem, as shown in the photo.
    9. Fill the empty space between the yellow petals with coffee beans. They will have to be glued in several layers to hide the surface of the disc and form a slight bulge, like a real flower.

    After the top of the topiary is made, you need to prepare a flower stand. For this purpose, a beautiful pot, vase or other container is suitable. To fix the flower in the container, a solution of gypsum or alabaster is often used. These compounds quickly solidify and form a strong and rather heavy monolithic array. It holds the flower stem well. Gypsum diluted with water should simply be poured into 2/3 of the volume of the selected container and a sunflower stem should be placed in it.

    When the plaster has hardened, the pot can be filled with coffee beans, artificial moss or grass, sisal or ribbons. Decorate to your liking.

    Other Ways to Create a Sunflower

    When making a souvenir with your own hands, you can always find options. Instead of a disk, you can use a foam ball. To make a sunflower flower look like a real one, the ball must be cut in half. In this case, we fix the stalk in the center of the flat side.

    The petals can be folded in the manner described for the manufacture of sepals in the previous version. You need to glue the petals on the underside of the hemisphere, you can make 1 or 2 rows of yellow elements. After that, decorate the rest of the space with green sepals.

    Fantasy sunflower, made in a different technique. For the base of the flower, a foam ball is used here, completely covered with coffee beans. The petals and stem braid are made of gold-colored ribbon. The wire can be easily bent, giving the stem the most bizarre shape with your own hands.

    For the petals, you need to cut squares from the tape. If its width is 5 cm, then the length of each segment should be the same. Fold the square diagonally, then again, combining all the cuts. Fold the triangle in half again so that the sharp corners match. Make a cut, as in the photo.

    Melt it over the candle and pinch it with tweezers, passing one of its sponges between the layers of fabric. This will turn out a neat flat seam, and the petal will be voluminous. The lower corner (where the tape cuts) must be cut with scissors parallel to the upper, front edge. Melt the cuts, but do not connect. Decorate the coffee ball and stem with finished petals. You can arrange them arbitrarily. Glue a coffee bean or bead inside each element.

    Design options flower arrangements in the manufacture of topiary from sunflowers, there can be many. The master will be helped by imagination and accuracy in work. solar flower and the aroma of your favorite drink will accompany him all day, giving joy and cheerful mood.
