    The “patient” is light, frayed and very comfortable corduroy Levi's jeans. Made in the USA (these are almost impossible to find now). The condition is average (they were a little darker), washed many times and have a very pale shade.

    The condition of the fabric is quite acceptable, no abrasions were found.

    Not bad for 3 year old pants? :)

    Enter Mr. Brown (aka Simplicol dark brown paint). Please note that we used all the dye to achieve an intense dark brown color. When using 1/2 pack you can get more light shade. You can experiment with the dosage of dye.

    Jeans should be washed inside out.

    We look at the label: composition 100% cotton, wash at 60 ºС.

    We open the package of paint, inside there is a dark brown powder.

    Putting jeans in a drum washing machine, put the paint directly on top of the bag. Let's repeat for the nth time: there is no need to pour out paint, washing powder and no need to add rinse aid :)

    Dyeing, as indicated in the instructions, is carried out at a temperature of 40ºC, we set the spin speed to 800 rpm. Cotton washing mode.

    The process has begun. Don't be afraid, the remaining paint after painting will be completely washed off with water.

    The coloring is finished.

    Without taking the jeans out of the drum, add washing gel and wash again - this time to fix the dye.

    Please note that we carry out repeated washing not at 40, but at 60º C, as indicated on the label of the trousers (see photo above).

    After ~60 min. We take out the painted trousers and admire them.

    It turned out to be a very beautiful dark brown color. The white threads have darkened a little, which is good news. All that remains is to dry our trousers.

    After complete drying.

Let's look at the detailed dyeing of black trousers in the washing machine. To do this you need to do the following:

    Before painting black trousers, you need to wash them in washing powder using a stain remover, but never use fabric softener. After washing, you can proceed to dyeing.

    • Put on rubber gloves and pour two to three packets of dye into a glass bowl. Then pour the dye with hot water - at least 2 glasses of water per 1 package of dye. How to hand dye black pants?

    Dyeing clothes by hand is considered the oldest method, which can both ruin the item and give it a rich color. To properly dye your trousers, you need to do the following:

    • You need to buy paint for painting things, dilute it with water, stir well and pour into a large container. Place the trousers there and leave for a while (20 - 30 min.)

    After preparing the paint mixture, dissolve it well in water, and then place the trousers in a basin of water

    • Next, transfer the trousers and the dyeing liquid itself into a container that can be placed on the fire and constantly turn the trousers using a clamp or a large metal spoon. This procedure should take no more than 30–40 minutes. After boiling, the trousers should be rinsed in acidified or salted water (add 1 spoon of vinegar) - this will help preserve the color, then dry.

    When boiling and dyeing black trousers, turn them frequently

    When subsequently washing a dyed item, you should always add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to rinse.

    Pants before and after dyeing black

    If you are starting the process of dyeing clothes for the first time, it is advisable to dye something that is not of particular value, and only then dye your favorite black trousers.

    How to dye pants

    Sooner or later, your favorite trousers lose their color and become faded. If you don’t want to part with them or it’s difficult to choose the right model of new pants, then your old pants can be revived. To do this, they need to be painted; in this article we will tell you how to do this.

    First of all, make sure that the fabric does not contain lavsan and nitron. These fibers are difficult to dye and can completely ruin the appearance of your pants. If these threads are not in the fabric, then you can safely go for paint. Buy a dye that is suitable for your fabric, but a universal pigment will do. Typically, coloring compounds are sold in powder form, which must be diluted in warm water. Dyes in the form of a thick liquid are suitable.

    There are several ways to dye fabric:

    • in the washing machine;
    • hands.

    If you have a front-loading washing machine, you will not be able to dye clothes, since the dye solution must be poured in a prepared form. If the machine is top loading, you can proceed with the procedure. To do this, dissolve the dye packet in small quantity warm water and mix thoroughly. After this, strain the liquid through cheesecloth and bring the resulting volume of solution to 1 liter. Add a glass of salt to the mixture, it serves as a fixative.

    Turn on the normal wash and pour the dye into the water, add a tablespoon of washing powder. When clean water is well mixed with the prepared solution, you can load the trousers into the drum. Must be washed at high temperature. If the pants contain elastane, the maximum washing temperature is 60°C. If you dye jeans, you can wash them at 90°C.

    30 minutes in the washing machine is enough for the fabric to dye well. Now you can turn on the water drain and rinse mode. Hang your pants on a line and dry them in the shade. It is best to dry on the balcony. Clothes should not be exposed to direct sunlight. If you want to lighten your pants, you should bleach them using bleach or chlorine bleach before dyeing them. Before dyeing, the item must be washed and grease stains removed; they are difficult to dye.

    It is worth considering that dyeing trousers by hand is more difficult than in a washing machine. To do this, take an unnecessary metal container, since after painting the bucket or pan cannot be used for cooking. Dissolve the dye in the same way as when dyeing in a washing machine. There is no need to add salt. Place the product in a container with the solution and leave it for 30 minutes. Make sure your pants are completely submerged in the solution. After this, put the pan on the fire and bring the liquid with the pants to a boil. After boiling, turn off the heat and let the liquid cool. Rinse your pants in water with vinegar or salt. This will help set the color.

    If you're not ready to ruin your favorite jeans, take them to the dry cleaner. Despite the high cost of such a service, you will receive a new item.

    But this method is short-lived, since after several washes the color of the paint will begin to fade, and may even begin to fade. Therefore, this method is not suitable for everyday items that are often washed.

    There is hardly a person who has never tried to dye his clothes. With the help of industrial and natural dyes, it is easy to update old worn jeans or make a faded blouse brighter and more expressive. The dyeing process will not cause any particular difficulties if you carefully observe the dosage of dyes and take into account the peculiarities of the composition of the material.

    Preparing for painting

    Before you start work, you need to prepare everything you need, namely:

    • things intended for dyeing;
    • container and devices for turning fabric;
    • dyes and rinses.

    How to properly prepare clothes for dyeing

    1. First of all, you should wash your clothes thoroughly. If there are old or other difficult-to-remove substances left on the fabric, you should definitely get rid of them. Otherwise, the fabric in this place will be dyed unevenly, and clearly visible stains will remain, which will greatly spoil appearance products.
    2. Then you will have to remove the accessories - cut off buttons and decorations, flog metal zippers, since the surface of these parts can be damaged when painted and subsequently become covered with rust.
    3. If you decide to dye a new one, it is necessary to remove the layer of starch with which the manufacturer usually impregnates such fabrics. To do this, prepare a soap solution, add a little soda and boil the clothes for 25 minutes, after which they rinse thoroughly.
    4. When dyeing wool yarn You need to make sure that the threads do not intertwine and get tangled. To do this, it is divided into small parts and collected into loose skeins, which are tied in two or three places with twine.

    Selecting containers and equipment for coloring

    Once the clothes are prepared for dyeing, you can begin choosing a container.

    1. Any clean utensil will do, be it an enamel basin or an aluminum pan. The main thing is that there are no traces of scale or soot on the inner surface of the metal.
    2. The size of the container should be taken into account Special attention. The pan should be of such a volume that the thing to be painted is located freely in the solution, does not squash and does not rise above the surface of the water.

    Painting in a large container

    To stir and turn the product while working, you will need wooden tongs. If you don’t have such a device on your farm, you can use ordinary wooden sticks, after first clearing the surface of knots and irregularities.

    It is better to take soft water for the procedure, for example, rain or melt water. If this is not possible, then ordinary tap water can be softened using baking soda, for which 1 tbsp. l. powder is dissolved in 10 liters of water.

    How to paint a product yourself

    Textile paint is available in the following forms:

    • aerosol,
    • pastes,
    • powder.

    Paint for clothes

    It is suitable for use when dyeing by hand or in a washing machine. The choice of dye depends on the composition of the fabric and the personal preferences of the owner of the clothing.

    Before starting work, it is necessary to accurately determine the composition of the product. If the label is erased or lost and it is not possible to find out reliable information about the composition, you can set fire to the thread from the product. Synthetic and natural fibers release different “flavors” when burned:

    • synthetics smell like chemicals;
    • natural wool or cotton emits the smell of burnt hair.

    The easiest way to repaint a thing is from natural materials. Synthetics are difficult to paint and quickly lose their newly acquired shade.

    The general rules for using universal fabric paint are the same regardless of the manufacturer of the product. However, when starting coloring, it would be useful to study the instructions included with the product in order to know exactly the dosage and nuances of using a particular dye.

    Important! All work with the dye must be carried out with rubber gloves.

    If the dye does not require heating the water, then it is better to carry out the work in the bathroom, having previously protected easily soiled items with waterproof film. Then the following activities are carried out:

    • Pour paint into a container with warm water and stir thoroughly. The amount of water and dye is determined in advance depending on the weight of the clothing and the dosage indicated by the manufacturer on the packaging.
    • The product is dipped into the solution and left for half an hour, stirring occasionally and making sure that the fabric does not wrinkle.
    • As soon as the product acquires an intense black color, it can be removed from the solution and rinsed in cool water, adding 1 tbsp. l. vinegar.

    Important! If you need to paint several things, you need to paint them one by one.

    Often the instructions require heating the coloring solution, then proceed as follows:

    • The container with paint dissolved in water is placed on low heat and heated to a temperature of 60 °C.

    Important! When dyeing wool and silk, add 50 ml of 25% vinegar essence to the solution.

    • The item prepared for painting is immersed in a hot solution for an hour, maintaining a constant temperature of no more than 60 ° C and stirring occasionally.
    • After the allotted time has passed, the product is washed in a machine or by hand at a water temperature of 40 ° C and rinsed with the addition of vinegar.

    In the future, you should wash and rinse items painted black separately from the rest of your clothes, and add vinegar to each rinse.

    Dyeing in the washing machine

    You can use a washing machine to dye clothes. Modern dyes have compositions that are completely safe for the operation of household appliances, and the process itself is easier and faster than manually.

    The effect is obvious
    • Pour 0.5 liters of hot water into the container and pour out one package of dye. Mix thoroughly, trying to dissolve all grains of powder and obtain a homogeneous mixture.
    • Things are turned inside out and loaded into the washing machine. When dyeing, do not use washing powder or conditioner.
    • A dye is poured into the machine. You can simply tear the paint bags and put them on top of your clothes.
    • When dyeing silk or other delicate fabrics, add 150 ml of 25% vinegar essence.
    • Set the washing mode in which the water temperature does not rise above 60 ° C and the cycle duration is no more than 30 minutes, including rinsing.
    • After dyeing is completed, wash again at a temperature of 40 ° C, which will allow the paint to adhere well.

    The products are dried by laying them out on a horizontal surface away from radiators and avoiding direct sunlight.

    To completely clean the machine drum of traces of dye, you need to carry out one cycle in the “rinse” mode using chlorine bleach.

    Natural dyes

    In addition to aniline and acrylic paints, there are natural dyes, which are ordinary products. You can dye the product black using coffee, tobacco or hair dye:

    • Coffee will help restore the intense black color of fabric that has lost its original appearance. To dye, you need to prepare enough instant or boiled coffee so that the liquid can cover the item being dyed. The stronger the drink, the brighter the color of the fabric. The coffee is brought to a boil, removed from the heat, and the item prepared for painting is immersed in a pan for an hour. The longer the fabric is in the solution, the more colored the fibers will be.
    • Instead of coffee, you can take tobacco. To prepare a dyeing solution, pour 15 g of tobacco into 1 liter of water and boil it, after which the product intended for painting is immersed in the container.

    For those people who rarely dye items from their wardrobe, useful tips and the tricks listed below may come in handy.

    • If you have to paint a product for the first time, it is better to practice on an old unnecessary thing that you don’t mind throwing away if it fails.
    • To accurately determine the required amount of dye, the textiles must be weighed.
    • If the item to be repainted is intended to be remade, then it should be torn into pieces in advance.
    • Uneven color synthetic fabric can be corrected by immersing the product in a hot soapy solution.
    • Items dyed black should be washed separately from other clothes. The fact is that they can fade and ruin all the other things in the drum.

    Dyeing your favorite clothes black, done at home, will not only return the brightness to the items saturated color, but will also save time and money. The main thing is to buy paint from trusted manufacturers, follow the instructions and listen to the advice of experienced housewives.

    Before washing, be sure to fasten all zippers and buttons and turn the product inside out.

    For jeans, hand washing in warm water is recommended. Moreover, you cannot sprinkle washing powder directly on your jeans; it must be dissolved in water in advance. Also, do not use powder containing bleaching components.

    To prevent the paint from washing out for a long time, you can use laundry soap instead of powder when washing.

    If hand washing is not possible, you can wash the clothes in the washing machine on a delicate cycle.

    If you follow simple care rules, your jeans will delight you with their appearance for a long time.

    Invented during the gold rush by Levi Strauss, jeans exceeded his wildest expectations. They not only remain popular after a century and a half, but are available to almost every inhabitant of the planet.

    • powder paints– provide long-lasting color, but have a very limited color palette;
    • blue easy to use, cheap, but not durable; having given a rich blue color to your trousers, be prepared to see your legs, underwear, and jacket also blue;

    • aniline dyes– variety of colors, ease of use, but not particularly durable;
    • aerosols simple and interesting to use, they are usually durable, but harmful to the respiratory tract; when using, it is advisable to use a protective mask;
    • "Dillon"– special fabric dye, durable, provides rich color.

    Preliminary work

    Dyeing fabric at home involves working with chemicals, and it will be inconvenient to be distracted. It’s better to prepare everything in advance.

    Preparing jeans for dyeing

    Trousers to be dyed must be clean and all pockets must be empty. Any contamination, especially greasy spots, will interfere with uniform painting. The result may be disappointing.

    Selection and preparation of dye

    The choice depends on individual preferences, goals, and the availability of home colors. Having set the goal of returning the original color to your jeans and wearing them for as long as possible, it is advisable to use a special fabric dye.

    If you want to complement your wardrobe with creative pants, less suitable traditional ways: acrylic, aniline, aerosol.

    Having decided to refresh old jeans, but not wanting to look for a dye, why not use bluing or potassium permanganate? Especially if you already have the product at home.

    Regardless of the dye chosen, it must be mixed with water until completely dissolved and mixed until completely homogeneous.

    Otherwise the color may be uneven.

    When using a special dye, it is important to act strictly according to the instructions. If there are no instructions (potassium permanganate), provide the color with sufficient time to dissolve, at least 5–10 minutes. Then strain through a strainer or even filter the liquid by placing cotton wool, a napkin, or a coffee filter into the funnel.

    • prepare a paint fixer; to do this, pour water and vinegar into a basin at the rate of 1 tablespoon of acetic acid 9% per 1 liter of water or 1 teaspoon of vinegar 70% per 2.5–3 liters of water;
    • immediately after washing with a washing machine, soak the trousers in the prepared fixative for 30–40 minutes;

    How to dye jeans by hand

    For dyeing fabric in bright colors, aniline dyes, aerosols, acrylic, and in some cases hair dye are suitable.

    The most common way is aniline dye. The painting process is quite simple:

    • stir thoroughly, place on the stove;
    • put jeans in the solution;
    • bring to a boil and reduce the burner to low;
    • leave the container with the pants on the stove for 40–50 minutes, stirring occasionally;
    • rinse;
    • fix the paint in an aqueous solution of vinegar, soaking for 30–40 minutes;
    • wash your jeans with warm, but not hot water;
    • hang or lay out to dry without creases.

    Painting aerosol does not require compliance with special standards. Point the can and spray the paint. Ready! When spraying, you can apply patterns and stencils for decoration.

    When working with aerosol, it is important to ensure sufficient ventilation of the room so as not to inhale excessive amounts of vapor.

    When using hair dye:

    • dilute 1-2 packages of paint in a bath of water;
    • put jeans in the solution for 45–90 minutes, periodically turn them over and drown them;
    • rinse;
    • dry.

    Acrylic paints are more suitable for painting rather than dyeing jeans. They can be used like regular paints, using brushes. Some people pre-apply the drawing with a pencil.

    After completing the drawing, let the paint dry, for example, from evening to morning or vice versa. Turn it inside out, iron it, after placing the paper on the picture.

    • A separate digestion technology serves to obtain the “varenka” model:
    • Place a container of water on the stove, add bleach at the rate of 1 liter of bleach per 10 liters of water;
    • tie the jeans with a strong knot; the tighter you twist the knot or knots, the richer the ornament will be;
    • put the pants in the water to simmer for 15–20 minutes, constantly drown them;

    rinse with cool water and dry.

    How to fix the painting result

    When working with dyes, the color is most often fixed with acetic acid. Proportions: 15 ml (1 tablespoon) acetic acid 9% per 1 liter of water or 5 ml (1 teaspoon) vinegar 70% per 2.5 liters of water.
