• Ubtan for the face is the secret to smooth and velvety skin. Ubtan for the face - a centuries-old Indian recipe

    11.08.2019

    Let's start by preparing the flour. Since ubtan is a “child” of the East, several components will come from the countries of the rising sun. First – rice – 1 tbsp. spoon. This culture is simply unique in its properties for the skin - not only does it “polish” the top layer, it softens it due to starch, and thanks to vitamins PP, B and H, it relieves inflammation, regenerates and refreshes the dermis. Potassium "attracts" to upper layers moisture, silicon pulls on the skin.

    The next ingredient is oatmeal - 1 tbsp. spoon. In addition to the fact that due to the content of special substances it will give a feeling of “soapiness”, thanks to vitamin A it will heal the skin, thiamine will eliminate dryness and add elasticity, and “ascorbic acid” will eliminate sagging.

    Another “guest” from the East - chickpeas - 2 tbsp. spoons. Chickpea powder will get rid of comedones and brighten dark spots and freckles, will relieve skin irritation. Chickpeas are rich in vitamins and minerals, so its powder makes the skin surprisingly soft and silky and nourishes the epidermis.

    Sesame - 1 tbsp. spoon - when ground, its seed releases an oil rich in antioxidants and microelements such as calcium, thus contributing its part to skin rejuvenation.

    We put all the ingredients into an electric coffee grinder (a manual one doesn’t grind so well) and grind them into flour - the finer the better.

    Sift the flour through a fine sieve several times.

    The finer the grind, the deeper the components will penetrate the skin, the more gently the skin will be polished without damaging it. Don't hesitate to leave more waste in the sieve.

    Now it's the herbs' turn... Required condition in ubtan - the presence of herbs containing saponins. These are plant glycosides that form soap foam in aqueous solutions. Therefore, not a single Slavic ubtan can do without licorice root - 2 tbsp. spoons. It is this plant, like oatmeal, that gives the herbal mixture a pleasant soapiness.

    Next in line is nettle – 1 tbsp. spoon. Thanks to the ascorbic acid it contains, it will strengthen the walls of blood vessels, ridding you of the vascular network and asterisks.

    Calendula and chamomile flowers - 1 tbsp. spoon.

    You won’t find better natural antiseptics in our latitudes. With their help you will get rid of rashes and acne. The polysaccharides contained in chamomile will create a protective film over the skin that will protect it from moisture loss. Flavonoids will protect the skin from harmful ultraviolet exposure. Sitosterol will improve subcutaneous microcirculation of blood and lymph. In addition, chamomile and calendula are known for their whitening effect.

    Salvia officinalis herb – 1 tbsp. spoon. Hippocrates also called sage a “sacred herb” for its amazing healing properties. And the very name of the sage plant from ancient Greek is interpreted as “sun and health.” Sage is a unique source of many substances that are beneficial and necessary for the female body, which, in particular, fight skin infections and perform an astringent function.

    Laminaria – 1 tbsp. spoon... The inhabitant of the deep sea is rich in sea minerals, such as silene, potassium, sodium, thereby having a magical effect on any skin, but especially on tired skin that has lost its elasticity. In addition, the use of kelp is equivalent to a lymph drainage massage procedure - swelling and bags under the eyes will go away.

    Grind the herbs thoroughly using the same coffee grinder.

    Add ½ tsp to the mixture. henna or turmeric. Henna is excellent at drying out rashes; in addition, it or turmeric will give the skin a pleasant golden hue– the skin seems to begin to glow from within.

    Sift the mixture several times through a fine sieve.

    Add 1 tbsp. spoon rye flour. It stops age-related changes in the skin, providing a peculiar lifting effect and is an excellent cleanser.

    Now add a little 1 tsp of magnesium to the Ayurvedic mixture. This magnesium salt is famous for being a powerful detoxifier. In addition, it “pulls out” oxidized sebum from the pores, thus tightening them, and is an excellent “conductor” for the active ingredients of creams after the mask.

    Now it’s the clay’s turn – 2 tbsp. spoons. Here you should rely on your choice. I really love Fuller's earth. This type of clay is famous for its amazing mineral reserves. In addition, when drying and tightening, it helps to even out the contour of the face and strengthen the facial muscles.

    I supplemented Fuller's earth with red bentonite clay. Red clay, containing a lot of copper, which is beneficial for the skin, can invigorate the skin, increase its turgor and refresh its tone.
    You can use green or yellow clay for very oily skin prone to seborrhea or eczema; kaolin for whitening age spots; Moroccan rhassoul or gray and blue for enlarged pores and “blackheads” and for rejuvenation procedures.

    All that remains is to thoroughly mix our Ayurvedic mixture, pour it into a bottle or vial with a tight lid, so that the herbs do not “pick up” foreign odors or moisture, and the essential oils do not evaporate.

    And don’t throw away the large “waste” from the components of ubtan - pour it into a container, mix and you can use the mixture as a body scrub - your skin will become soft and filled with a pleasant herbal aroma.

    Now a little about how to use ubtan.
    As a cleanser, dilute ½ tsp. the herbal mixture in the palm of your hand with water to form a paste and wash with it as with a regular gel for washing.

    As a scrub: dilute 1 tsp in a container. mixture with hot water until it becomes liquid sour cream and apply the mixture onto your face with your fingertips, avoiding the area around the eyes. Massage a little and leave as a mask for 15-20 minutes so that the upper layer of the epidermis dissolves under the influence of enzymes. It is recommended to do this peeling 1-2 times a week.

    As a mask, dilute 1-2 tsp. mixture with boiling water until it becomes sour cream, add a few drops of vegetable oils (olive, grape bone oil, wheat germ, for example), suitable for the species your skin, apply the mixture for 20-30 minutes, including the area around the eyes, rinse with warm water. As an option nourishing mask, the brewed mixture can be diluted with sour cream or kefir. After the mask, the skin must be moisturized with cream or gel.

    It is better to carry out such procedures as a complex for 7-10 days and you will immediately notice the result - facial wrinkles will disappear, irritations will dry up after the second application, and the skin will seem to begin to glow from the inside, which will not go unnoticed by colleagues and fans...

    Good afternoon, Mikrushanochki! Let's talk about cleansing the skin? How do you cleanse your skin? For me, my usual product is foam cleanser and shower gel. I recently received a new product for testing - UBTAN. I didn’t know what it was before, so I’m sharing with you information about UBTAN, how to use it, and my reviews and impressions.

    Ubtan - what is it?

    I think that for many this word is new, as it was for me 2 weeks ago. I'm telling you! Ubtan is a natural cosmetics for daily cleansing skin of the face and body. Ubtans consist of medicinal plants ground into fine powder, various types flour, clay and spices. The product gently cleanses the skin, exfoliates it, nourishes it, supplying it with vitamins and nutrients.

    I tested orange ubtan with chamomile and calendula; its action is aimed at restoring skin elasticity, moisturizing it and protecting it from harmful environmental influences. The composition contains zest, which has an anti-cellulite effect and fights unevenness and cellulite. Vitamin C is responsible for the natural radiance and smoothness of the skin. White clay and turmeric restore skin moisture balance and improve blood circulation.

    In fact, UBTAN is a flour-like mass in a beautiful ECO bag that needs to be soaked in water and used to wash your face and body. The smell of Orange Ubtan is very specific, it was expected that it would smell like an orange, but no, if in a dry form the orange is still faintly felt, then in a soaked form it is more like oats and chamomile. When adding water, some of the product flows into the drain, but in general it can be applied to the skin. It feels like a soft, soft scrub.

    Orange ubtan, reviews

    For me, Orange Ubtan has a number of features:

    • Too specific smell
    • Application is not very convenient, you need to pour it before a shower (and I have a shower stall), pour it separately into your hand or container and immediately wash, or ask someone to pour it in while taking a shower, if you need to wash your hair first.
    • After use, you have to wash the sink to remove any remaining ubtan.

    BUT. With all these difficulties - UBTAN makes the skin incredibly smooth and velvety. I felt as if I had taken a shower with moisturizing gel and applied cream. That is, the procedure for applying the cream is replaced by a specific bathing with ubtan diluted with water. It’s difficult - yes, I will continue to use it - yes too, because I like the result, and I hope I’ll get used to the smell!

    And by the way, ubtan can be diluted with different liquids (water, oils, milk and even yogurt) and to different consistencies, turning it from a cleanser into useful masks. There are 5 types of ubtan: Orange, Lavender, Coconut, Eucalyptus and Mint.

    Are you already familiar with ubtans? Want to try?

    Ubtan is a cosmetic product that has been used by women in India for many centuries. They cleanse and wash the face and body. Ubtan is an absolutely natural remedy.

    Any woman can prepare ubtan with her own hands. The result is a gentle powder mixture for use for cosmetic purposes.

    Classic ubtan is created with your own hands using Indian herbs and seasonings. But our women, as always, are enterprising and inventive and are determined to replace many herbs with our native plants.

    Ubtan recipes need to be created for a specific skin type, i.e. for oily, dry, aging, problematic, sensitive, age spots.

    Ubtan has a multi-component composition, so allergy sufferers need to use it carefully.

    Composition of ubtan and how to use it?

    Ubtan is a cosmetic product widely used by women in India. It replaces soap and all kinds of cleansing and nourishing cosmetics. They wash their face, take care of their body and hair. This is a completely natural remedy.

    In terms of its consistency, ubtan is a powder, which before use is diluted in water or other liquids and applied to the skin. After this, simply wash it off or leave it for a while and then the components of the mixture act on the skin like a scrub or mask.

    But the most interesting thing is the composition of ubtan! What is there not in it! Of course, all the most useful and necessary things for the skin, and we will now discuss with you the composition of this wonderful detergent.

    Ubtan base. Half of the powder mixture is flour. It can be chickpea flour, oatmeal or rice flour, lentils, peas, corn, flaxseed. It is very important that there are no grains in it, only fine powder. This flour can be purchased at the store or ground in a coffee grinder, and then sifted through a sieve. You can take one type of flour or a mixture of several types.

    To prepare ubtan for skin rejuvenation, I decided to take chickpea flour, because it is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals, and flaxseed flour, which contains nourishing linolenic acid and has moisturizing properties.

    Dried herbs. In India, women use their own local herbs. We live in Russia. Our plants are closer to us. This does not change the essence, because different herbs have their own specific properties - nourish the skin, moisturize, degrease, relieve inflammation. Most often we use chamomile, calendula, plantain, burdock, raspberry, strawberry and black currant leaves, parsley, mint, string, linden flowers, eucalyptus leaves and others.

    Nettle leaves and linden flowers are best suited for skin rejuvenation. I took dried herbs and ground them to a powder. There were grains left, so I had to sift the powder. I mixed this herbal mixture with prepared flour. And I began to work further according to the recipe.

    Herbs that make ubtan soapy. It is necessary that our detergent glides over the skin so that it can easily wash away dirt from the face, remnants of cosmetics, and dead epithelial cells. These goals are met by licorice, ginseng root, soapwort, calendula, sage herb, horse chestnut and birch leaves. These herbs contain saponins, which impart soapiness.

    I bought kelp at the pharmacy and ground it in a coffee grinder. Sifted through a strainer. I added it to my preparation. I have already prepared flax as part of flax flour. Hooray! Something similar to ubtan has already turned out. But still, I haven’t used all the components yet and added them to my mixture.

    Clay. When making ubtan with your own hands, be sure to use white, black, blue, green, red clay or rhassoul clay. Each clay has certain properties. I had a bag of blue clay at home. It is suitable for all skin types. I am satisfied with its properties such as stimulating collagen production, increasing skin elasticity, and moisturizing. Clay also contains saponins, is soapy and perfectly cleanses the skin.

    Spices. Indian women add many different oriental spices to ubtan: turmeric, nutmeg and ginger. You shouldn’t get too carried away with a variety of spices. They must be introduced into mixtures gradually. You need to try one of them first. Make sure you are not allergic to it. Then add the next ones.

    Other components. Now, without even straining your imagination too much, think about what else useful you have in your home? You can take sea salt, dry berries, dried almonds, rose petals, and coffee beans. And much more.

    Grind all these preparations, turn them into fine powder, sift and remove grains, mix with the main prepared mixture.

    You can add a few drops of aromatic oil with your favorite scent to the powder. Now transfer your ubtan into a glass, grease-free jar and close it with a screw cap. Keep it dry. It can stand like this for at least a year. But if you add any vegetable oil and turn the ubtan into a paste, the shelf life will be reduced to 1 - 2 months.

    How to use ubtan?

    Wash your face every morning and evening. Take 0.5 tsp. ubtana. You can place it directly in your palm. But you can take a small porcelain bowl and pour the powder into it.

    Then, depending on your skin type, dilute the dry composition with liquid: mineral or boiled water, milk, kefir, green tea, natural yogurt, sour cream. For mature skin Milk is best. Pour a teaspoon of milk into the dry mixture and stir.

    Simply apply to face, lubricate and lightly massage into skin with fingertips. Keep it on your face for about five minutes. Then rinse off with tap water.

    Ubtan for skin rejuvenation gently cleanses the face. Exfoliates superficial dead skin cells. Does not disrupt the lipid mantle. Increases blood circulation and nourishes the skin with all kinds of beneficial vitamins.

    The skin is moisturized and its tone increases. It looks healthy, smooth and tender. Fading skin is revitalized and you look 10 years younger.

    UBTAN WITH YOUR OWN HANDS FOR SKIN REJUVENATION - MY RECIPE:

    Chickpea flour - 1.5 tablespoons;
    flaxseed flour – 1.5 tbsp;
    dried nettle leaves – 1 tsp;
    linden flower powder – 1 tsp;
    kelp powder – 1 tsp;
    blue clay – 2 tsp;
    ginger powder – ½ tsp;
    lemon peel powder – ½ tsp;
    ground sea salt – ¼ tsp;
    patchouli aromatic oil (love the smell) – 5 drops.

    This is my first experience. I will use it. I'm so glad I found a natural alternative to soap. Of course, I use cleansing milk to remove makeup and toner. But also baby soap sometimes I use it. Now I want to try ubtan. It’s so easy – I’ll put it on the shelf in the bath and quickly wash myself. If I have time, I’ll keep the mixture on my face longer and it will turn out to be a mask. I’ll massage your skin and here’s your scrub. I love rationality in everything!

    Do not forget that despite such positive characteristics, ubtan has a number of contraindications for use. There are few of them, but they exist. Firstly, any of the components of ubtan can cause allergic reaction. That is why, if you are new to preparing this cleanser, do not try to include too many components in its composition. Secondly, never use it if you have skin damage, inflammation or disease.

    Ubtan is a completely natural Ayurvedic remedy. It has centuries of experience in use in the East. It is not difficult to create ubtan with your own hands for skin rejuvenation. Regularly washing your face with ubtan will revitalize aging skin. You will look 10 - 15 years younger.

    Ayurvedic powder must include:

    - main filler;

    — medicinal plants;

    soap base;

    — special additives;

    - liquid.

    Main fillers of ubtan

    The main fillers of ubtan are flour from various grains, legumes and some nuts. The filler can be combined and contain flour from several types of grains and legumes.

    The raw materials for the main filler should be as natural (unprocessed) as possible. Grains or beans should be thoroughly washed, dried in the open air and ground into flour. Please note that large unground particles of grains can damage the integrity of the epidermis, so you need to grind them well.

    Let's look at the main excipients of Ayurvedic ubtan powder!

    • Chickpea flour

    Classic ubtan necessarily contains chickpea flour, which is obtained from Turkish peas, a leguminous crop from the legume family. Chickpeas are rich in vitamin E, B1, B2 and folic acid, amino acids (proteins) and minerals: iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium, etc. Chickpea flour has biological activity and is beneficial for both skin and hair, and for the entire body as a whole.

    Chickpea powder makes the skin soft and smooth, perfectly cleanses pores and fights comedones (blackheads). Demonstrates a mild exfoliating effect.

    Chickpea flour can be bought in large grocery hypermarkets or ordered from your nearest online store. I advise you to order a couple of kilograms of chickpea flour at once. Besides ubtans, chickpea flour is very useful for food. For example, chickpea flatbreads are an ideal breakfast that nourishes both the mind and body.

    • Lentil and pea flour

    Lentils are very rich in iron, boron, copper, iodine and potassium. It contains a lot of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. Peas also contain many substances that are beneficial for the skin, especially amino acids, starch, carotene and vitamins. Both lentil and pea powder will help your skin look more youthful and restore its even tone. Another undoubted quality of the flour of these legumes is the ability to remove scars and marks from acne and pimples. The same effect is observed with wrinkles - they are smoothed out!

    • Corn flour

    Ground corn grains are a very serious application for results! Corn is rich in B vitamins, vitamin P and PP, starches, oils, organic acids, selenium, iron and magnesium. Complex useful substances Useful for cleansing problematic skin with rashes, pimples and blackheads. Corn grain powder mattifies, helps with increased sweating, relieves inflammation.

    In addition to anti-inflammatory agents, corn powder tightens the skin, strengthens collagen and elastin, and nourishes all layers of the skin.

    • Rice flour

    Rice flour is a known sebum absorber and is often included in mattifying powders and primers. You can make it yourself from rice grains. Rice flour perfectly cleanses the skin and can be used as natural scrub. Therefore, this ingredient will be a very simple and effective filler for our Ayurveda powder.

    Rice flour also nourishes and moisturizes, increases skin elasticity and evens out pigmentation. Rice grains are rich in vitamins B and PP, amino acids and important microelements. You should always have rice flour on hand!

    • Oatmeal (oatmeal)

    Oat powder is a folk remedy known for its cleansing properties. Oatmeal cleanses pores, relieves inflammation and softens the skin, nourishes and rejuvenates.

    • Coarse wheat flour

    You need to prepare this flour yourself. Wash the wheat grains, dry and grind in a coffee grinder. Wholemeal flour has pronounced anti-aging properties, tightens and nourishes the skin.

    • Sprouted wheat grains (dried and ground)

    Improve skin condition, nourish, moisturize, smooth out wrinkles. They are ideal for ubtans for dry, aging skin.

    • Ground barley

    Barley is rich in amino acids, vitamins and microelements. The main property of barley grains for the skin is whitening. In addition to whitening, barley flour qualitatively cleanses pores and makes them less noticeable, narrowing them. Fights excessive oiliness, regulates the secretion of sebaceous secretions from the pores.

    • Ground flax and sesame seeds

    Flax seeds, like sesame seeds, have a tightening effect. In addition, they qualitatively cleanse and nourish the skin structures.

    • Ground nuts

    Almost all nuts produce oils. This has a very good effect on the epidermis! Walnut powder will moisturize and nourish all skin structures! Best suited: almonds, pistachios, cashews, white coconut pulp.

    The list of basic fillers contains quite affordable products that any housewife has. I often get questions about homemade scrubs. Here is a list of soft mechanical exfoliants and fillers for masks that do not injure skin covering, nourish it and rejuvenate it. Keep this point in mind: masks made from cereals and legumes should not dry out on the skin!

    If we are talking about classic Ayurvedic ubtan, then chickpea flour must be present! But, if you don’t have it yet, this is not a reason to refuse this wonderful way of cleansing your skin. Any flour listed above can serve as a filler. The best option- their combination. Based on the actual needs of the skin, select the composition of the main filler that is optimal for the needs of your skin.

    Medicinal plants in ubtan

    Of course, if we call ubtan an Ayurvedic remedy, then it must contain Indian herbs and spices, which are used in skin care according to the principles of Ayurveda. The main Indian herbs are ashwagandha, neem, brahmi, lotus, etc. But we can also use our analogues: calendula, chamomile, yarrow, mint, etc. In the article about macerates and infusions, I gave where you can choose plants for your ubtan.

    We also make sure to include Indian spices in this Ayurvedic remedy, such as coriander, turmeric, basil, ginger, cinnamon, etc. Spices are as good for the skin as they are for digestion! Essential oils and bioactive substances of spices improve metabolism in the skin structures, have an antibacterial effect and activate blood circulation.

    • Turmeric

    In India, turmeric is included in formulations for the care of problem skin with acne and inflammation. It demonstrates a visible anti-inflammatory effect, promotes fast healing damage, rejuvenates and nourishes the skin. Curcumin, which is part of the plant, colors the epidermis in yellow, so be careful with the percentage in the powder!

    • Basil

    An excellent antiseptic! Indicated for the treatment of oily problem skin. Relieves inflammation and soothes itching, neutralizes toxins. Very good for sensitive, allergy-prone skin.

    • Coriander

    Coriander is natural antioxidant and it is recommended as a preventive measure for melanoma and skin cancer. It is also used in masks and cleansers for aging skin prone to uneven pigmentation. It is noteworthy that coriander can serve as a natural SPF filter and does not increase the skin's photosensitivity. Therefore, it can be used in summer too.

    • Ginger

    Ground ginger is also used as an antioxidant - for aging skin and for skin with frequent rashes. Suppresses the growth of acne bacteria, helps skin recover, improves blood circulation.

    In addition to the above spices, Ayurveda uses cumin, nutmeg, citrus zest, nutmeg, cumin, etc. for the skin.

    Soap bases for ubtan

    Since ubtan is intended to replace both a cleanser and a mild “soap”, the powder mixture needs soaping substances - saponins. Ayurvedic ubtan cannot contain synthetic ingredients, so the function of saponins is taken over by plants that can create soap foam.

    The richest roots in saponins are: soapwort, calamus, licorice, ginseng, and Manchurian aralia. Suitable plants include horsetail, dandelion and birch leaves, sage and horse chestnut seeds.

    Medicinal plants with saponins can be used instead of soap in pure form. Dry the raw material and grind it to a powder. Wash your face! You can mix it with a small amount of any clay, then the epidermis will be cleansed even deeper!

    Clays for ubtan recipes

    Again, a classic Ayurvedic skin cleansing mixture should include ghassoul (rhassul) clay or Indian Multani Mitti clay. But an option no weaker in terms of functional load can be any clay available at your home or at the nearest pharmacy.

    Ubtan is a powder made from medicinal plants, grain flour, spices, clay and other ingredients. With regular use of ubtan for the face, the product copes with problems such as excess oiliness, pimples, blackheads, uneven color, redness and irritation. Ubtan is especially useful for problem skin, but can also be used for normal skin for cleansing, as well as for the purposes of prevention and general health.

    Classic ubtan

    Recipe cosmetic product originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is still actively used. In addition, this miracle remedy is becoming increasingly popular among the female half of the population around the world. This is no coincidence, because ubtan perfectly replaces soap, cleanser, scrub and cosmetic face mask.

    Traditional Ayurvedic ubtan is made from a variety of medicinal herbs and grain flour, its composition is completely natural. At the same time, the product is very strong and fights many skin problems that, it would seem, only hormonal cosmetics can cope with.

    Unfortunately, in Russia it is difficult to find most of the Indian herbs from which traditional ubtan is prepared. But there is an alternative - in stores and specialized Ayurvedic shops you can buy ubtan in the form of ready-made powder or cosmetics based on it.

    How to cook ubtan with your own hands

    If you still want to prepare ubtan for the face yourself, but there is nowhere to get some ingredients, the composition of the product can be adjusted, while the properties of the powder will remain approximately the same as the traditional one.

    Ubtan recipes differ from each other. There are those that include more than 50 types of herbs. However, the most common recipe is based on the 5-ingredient rule, according to which the powder must include 5 types of grain flour, 5 oils and 5 herbs.

    Components for ubtan

    Ubtan base - grain flour. Rice, flaxseed, oatmeal, pea, corn, etc. are suitable for preparing this product. The exception is wheat flour; it is not used due to its high gluten content.

    From herbs And spices The most commonly used are the following:
