In this case, the skin will become overdried and begin to secrete sebum even more actively. And then you have to clean it more often, removing oily sheen. And this is a vicious circle.

Therefore, it is necessary to avoid the use of alcohol tonics and use gels or foams for cleansing. It is also not recommended to wash your face with hot water, because high temperatures promote active production of sebum.

It is better to do this with water at room temperature or cooler, as it will help tighten the pores and have an invigorating and tonic effect on the skin.

For dry skin, washing with cold water, especially with soap, is not suitable. The procedure for cleansing dry skin should be carried out twice a day. Well-cleansed skin absorbs better useful components creams.

For washing in the morning, gentle products such as milk or oil are suitable. It is better to wash your face with warm water, and then treat your face with a cotton pad and toner. There will be useful and contrasting washes.

For morning hygiene procedures, you should not use tap water; it is better to take boiled drinking water. If your skin is very dry, wash your face mineral water.

After morning cleansing procedures, a tonic should be applied to the skin. The tonic can be based on a decoction of herbs - mint or sage. Products with chamomile extract perfectly tone the skin.

    Cleansing combination skin

Combination skin summer season needs to be cleaned in the same way as oily skin: the mandatory use of antiseptic gels, cleansing masks and scrubs is necessary.

In winter, on the contrary, care is applied as for dry skin: applied to the skin before going outside. nourishing cream, weekly cleansing with a scrub.

Spring-autumn care: use soft gels and foams; regularly remove oily shine on the T-zone using special mattifying wipes.

You cannot wash combination skin with hot or cold water, because it activates the intensity of the sebaceous glands, increasing the production of sebum. Water at room temperature is perfect for such procedures. Avoid using toilet soap, which will dry out dry areas. Cosmetologists advise not to wipe your face with a towel after cleansing, but to lightly blot it paper napkin.

    Stages of facial cleansing

To ensure that the skin on your face is as thoroughly cleansed as possible, you should follow the procedure in several important steps:
    • First of all, you need to remove dirt and dust from your skin. To do this, just wash your face with a mild, soap-free cleanser.
    • Steaming the skin is a mandatory ritual. This can be done either by steam or by other methods. The only thing you shouldn’t do is apply products aimed at expanding pores.
    • Next comes the stage of direct cleansing of the skin. Active peelings and scrubs are used. The products are applied with circular massage movements to ensure that the pores are cleaned as much as possible. If you want to cook homemade scrub, then use salt as a base, coffee grounds, bran or pea flour.
    • Blackheads can be removed manually. Remember that all this is done with clean hands. If your skin has many imperfections, old scars or scars, then it is better to schedule a cleaning with a specialist.
    • After the procedure, the skin is treated with tonic.
    • In order for the newly cleansed pores to close, masks made of blue or green clay are used.

Dermatocosmetologists do not recommend using them to cleanse the skin more than twice a day (morning and evening, respectively): Surfactants (surfactants are the basis of the formula for most cleansing and detergents) may cause skin irritation if consumed frequently. If your skin is sensitive, choose products that instead of sodium sulfate-based surfactants contain softer cleansing ingredients synthesized from natural amino acids (for example, coconut or rapeseed oils). Mild surfactants usually foam less and may have to be used twice, but they cleanse the skin just as well!

Soap. Which soap is better - solid (solid, that is, bar) or liquid - a question that cannot be answered unequivocally. Bar soap usually contains many alkaline components that disrupt the pH balance of the skin. In liquid soap or shower gel there are usually fewer alkalis, and more caring and softening ingredients. But it’s better to look at the composition - Clinique, L'Occitane, Belnature and many other brands produce so-called “cosmetic” soap - solid soap with a special low-alkaline soft formula that preserves the hydrolipidic layer of the skin and even restores it with amino acids, oils and other moisturizing and nourishing components.

Tonic. Despite the fact that it seems unnecessary to many, dermatocosmetologists consider the use of tonic to be the final (and mandatory!) stage of skin cleansing: it removes the remnants of cleanser and salts that may be contained in tap water and irritate the skin. Plus, the tonic softens, moisturizes, and accelerates the restoration of the skin's protective barrier.

Cleansing wipes. Makeup remover wipes are a compact travel option. You can take them with you on the train or the gym. What is convenient is that the lotions with which they are impregnated have not only cleansing, but also tonic properties for the skin, contain softening and nourishing components, and sometimes also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial - if these are wipes for oily and problem skin. But it is important to remember: the latter are not suitable for removing eye makeup, nor are wipes containing ethyl alcohol.

Micellar water (micellar solution). Replaces both cleanser and toner, like cleansing wipes, great for travel and especially recommended for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate tap water. After all, there is no need to rinse this product off! What is micellar water? Roughly speaking, an aqueous solution with microscopic particles dissolved in it based on soft surfactants of fatty acids - micelles. Micellar water both cleanses the skin and perfectly removes makeup, including waterproof mascara. The main thing for good cleansing You need to wipe your face with it several times until the cotton pad is clean.

Scrubs and masks. Even though they are considered deep skin cleansers, applying them to uncleaned skin is the biggest mistake you can make. The second common mistake is using them too often. Follow the instructions in otherwise you will break the skin's protective barrier, and it will become more hypersensitive, irritation and inflammation may appear.

Cosmetologists assure that thorough cleansing of the skin is the most important stage of the daily beauty ritual. And this is not surprising, because during the day the sweat glands secrete about 500 grams of water, carbon dioxide, lactic acid and other substances. Plus, dust and dirt settle on the skin, and makeup doesn’t do any good here. Therefore, you definitely shouldn’t ignore this phase of care. The main thing is to choose a good facial cleanser. “The primary task of a facial cleanser is to remove decorative cosmetics, as well as dirt and sebum accumulated during the day,” explains Olga Shcherbak, chief cosmetologist of the Sothys brand in Russia. – In addition, a good cleanser is designed to increase microcirculation and drainage, remove toxins and exfoliate upper layer epidermis, and, as a result, improve the condition of the skin.” But you can get confused by the variety of products in no time: all products have different textures, and, accordingly, formulas, features of use and purpose. Find out how to choose the best facial cleanser in our review.

    Foams

Airy foam is very comfortable to wash both in the morning and in the evening. “This gentle facial cleanser is ideal for thin, sensitive and dry skin,” says Olga. – It does not injure or dry out, but at the same time removes surface dirt and excess fat. ABOUT unpleasant feeling You can forget about the tightness after washing.” The best foam facial cleansers contain special ingredients that provide hydration, prevent irritation, and do not disturb the pH level of the skin. True, for those with normal or combination and oily skin, this product may seem too delicate, since it does not cleanse the stratum corneum deeply enough.

    Micellar water

Initially, these facial cleansers were intended for the very sensitive and allergy-prone skin of babies. That is why micellar water does not contain soap or alkali, which dry out the skin, as well as soapy substances that require careful rinsing. “An excellent multi-functional product that cleanses (but only superficially), removes makeup (non-waterproof) and tones the skin. It’s especially useful when traveling, since it can be used several times a day,” Olga suggests.

    Gels

Facial cleansers with a gel texture are best suited for combination to oily skin. This facial cleanser is especially useful in summer. “Gels will perfectly cope with deep impurities and completely remove excess sebum. And as a bonus, they will narrow the pores and provide mattification,” Olga explains. – Oily skin I recommend cleansing with gel in the morning and evening, and normal and combined cleansing only before bed. For those with dry skin, this product is unlikely to be suitable: irritation and a feeling of tightness after using it cannot be avoided.” When choosing a gel, pay attention to the composition. It should contain delicate surfactants (surfactants) based on sugar tensides or amino acids, as well as emollients allantoin, bisabolol, licorice, glycerin, lecithin or inulin. And no alcohol!

    Oil

Hydrophilic oil literally dissolves decorative cosmetics on the face without causing an alkaline reaction or drying out the skin. You just need to use this facial cleanser correctly. Apply a few drops of oil to dry facial skin along massage lines with gentle movements, paying special attention to the sensitive skin of the lips and eyes. Then wet your hands in warm water and massage your face for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off the product with warm water. For better results, after using the oil, Japanese women cleanse their skin with foam. “The oil not only removes impurities and makeup, but also leaves the skin silky and soft. Plus, it has an aromatherapy effect,” says Olga.

    Scrub

Exfoliator – excellent remedy for cleansing facial skin. Scrubbing particles deeply cleanse pores, improve microcirculation, even out skin texture and have a detox effect on the surface of the skin. But even the softest scrub cannot be used very often. The fact is that the restoration of the hydro-lipid mantle of the skin occurs within 72 hours. Therefore, daily exfoliation will only disrupt the barrier function of the skin, which will lead to a decrease in its immunity and inability to resist infections. Use the scrub no more than once or twice a week, better evening.

    Powders and powders

A product for cleansing facial skin in the form of powder or powder exfoliates dead cells, dissolves sebum, cleanses pores, reduces the appearance of hyperkeratosis and saves acne and inflammation. At the same time, the neutral composition does not irritate the skin and even moisturizes it. When dissolved in water, a soft foam forms. But unlike foam cleanser, powder usually contains enzyme particles that can penetrate deep into the skin and remove toxins and impurities from the pores much better. “Powders not only cleanse the surface of the skin, but also adsorb impurities and excess sebum at a deeper level, thereby evening out the skin texture. But it has disadvantages: it is not suitable for thin and sensitive skin, because it can cause irritation from mechanical action. Yes and on normal skin It’s better to use it once a day – preferably in the evening,” warns Olga.

    Soap

“A bar of soap cleanses the skin with a bang, removing even the most heavy pollution. And if it contains antibacterial ingredients, it also provides a disinfecting effect,” says Olga. But be careful: some facial cleansers in the form of soap greatly dry the skin, and sometimes even disrupt its barrier properties, and are therefore contraindicated for sensitive skin.

    Napkins

The best product for cleansing facial skin in cases where there is no time or energy for thorough washing. Often wet wipes made from unusual materials, soaked in lotion with the addition of caring extracts and have antioxidant and bactericidal properties. Choose alcohol-free wipes; they can be used several times a day. But still, do not abuse them. “Wipes cleanse the skin very superficially; you won’t be able to completely get rid of makeup and impurities on your face,” says Olga.

    Milk

An excellent option for those who prefer to wash their face without water. Just apply a little milk to a cotton pad and cleanse your face thoroughly (it is better to repeat the manipulation several times). Then spray your skin thermal water and pat dry with a towel or immediately wipe your face with toner. In addition to being easy to use, the milk boasts caring ingredients that will combat early wrinkles and skin imperfections.
