    Decorating blanks

    One of the most simple ways create your own Christmas tree decorations - decorate blanks that are sold in all craft stores and are inexpensive. You can purchase cheap simple balls as such devices.

    Ready-made balls are made from different materials:

    • polystyrene foam;
    • plastic;
    • glass or ceramics;
    • cardboard;
    • wood;
    • fabrics and padding.

    Foam blanks are perfect for decoration with special pins and sequins, beads and beads. It is easy to stick such needles into soft foam plastic, laying out any ornament.

    Plastic balls can be pasted over in a variety of ways different materials: cloth, paper, sparkles, beads, twigs, cones, dry leaves, coat with varnish or paint. This is wonderful and affordable option for decoration.

    Jewelry made from natural materials

    Glass and ceramic blanks are ideal for decoupage and painting. Some glass balls can be decorated from the inside, which means filling them with gel, water, creating a beautiful composition with a plot inside the ball (for example, a New Year's ball with snow), putting tinsel or other decorative material inside. Ceramics are a stylish and expensive option for painting.

    Transparent plastic balls can also be used as glass ones. It will be cheaper, but no less beautiful and more secure.

    Cardboard blanks are often used for children's crafts. Any parts can be easily attached to them using glue.

    Wooden toys are painted special paints, coated with varnish. Before this, you can cut out a fantasy design on them. The technique of decoupage, burning and, of course, pasting with various materials is also a good idea for such blanks. In the photo below, a wooden New Year's ball is decorated with thick thread.

    Decor of a wooden blank

    You can sew New Year's ball toys yourself. By taking a piece of fabric and putting a filler (cotton wool or padding polyester, foam rubber) in the middle and making a kind of bag, you can get a convenient blank onto which you can easily sew any decorations.

    Decorating a glass ball with beads

    An exclusive decoration for the Christmas tree can be made in a couple of minutes if you have a plastic or glass blank, beads, openwork ribbon and universal glue. This craft does not require any special skills, you just need to be careful.

    Following the photo below, apply glue to the New Year's ball and distribute it evenly with a brush. Then, until the glue has dried, sprinkle the workpiece with small beads, pressing each piece a little and ensuring that the beads fill the entire surface.

    All that remains is to thread the openwork ribbon through the loop and let the toys dry.

    The glue needs to be distributed over the workpiece

    The workpiece with glue must be covered with beads

    This method of decoration also has a disadvantage - the beads may fall off over time. This can be avoided by gluing it from the inside - filling a transparent ball with glue and pouring light beads or sparkles into it in sufficient quantities. Then you need to properly distribute the beads by rolling the ball. Once fixed to the glue, the beads will decorate the transparent walls from the inside and will not fall off later.

    New Year's balls are an integral part of decorating the New Year tree. Of course, you can always buy New Year's balls in the store, but you must admit that hand-made New Year's balls are something special! Moreover, if you have time and desire, you can easily make your own unusual New Year's toy in the form of a ball, and we will show you several ways on how you can make a New Year's ball with your own hands.

    First, let's make a reservation that in order to make a New Year's ball you will need a base: it can be an old New Year's glass ball, a plastic ball, a foam ball, a foam ball or even a papier mache ball. True, in the latter case you will have to tinker, but I will not dwell on how to make a ball out of papier mache. Let's agree that you already have the base and talk about how you can decorate/change an old ball or make a new one from transparent glass (plastic) balls.

    Master class DIY New Year's balls

    Everyone has old New Year's balls, so let's start with them. The simplest thing you can do with last year's Christmas ball- this is to cover it with some beautiful fabric, tie a thread for hanging, then at your request: tie it with a ribbon, add some other decorations (spruce branches, berries, snowflakes, lace - whatever your heart desires). The result is very beautiful New Year's balls, and most importantly, the next time you can remove all the decor and make something new.

    You can use not a whole piece of fabric, but strips or ribbons. Moreover, in this case, you can again use an old New Year’s ball or any other round base.

    New Year's balls covered with round fabrics look good.

    Or even New Year's balls made from yo-yo flowers. By the way, they are made very simply. We cut out a circle template from cardboard, trace it on the fabric, and cut out circles from the fabric. We sew our fabric circles along the edge with thread (photo No. 3), then tighten the thread - the seam should be in the center, secure it and cover it with a piece of fabric and a bead. Glue the finished yo-yo flowers to the ball. We decorate the top with twigs, cinnamon sticks, roses, etc.

    In addition, the fabric makes beautiful multi-layered New Year's balls. True, in this case you need a foam ball and tailor's pins. The technique for making such balls is shown in the photo. In principle, nothing is complicated, and most importantly, you can create different color combinations.

    In addition to fabric, you can use a lot of other materials to decorate New Year's balls. You can cover them with sequins, thread, acorn caps, pistachio shells, buckwheat, buttons, pieces of old CDs, strips of paper and even tree leaves.

    Can you make charming ones out of old balloons? New Year's cupcakes as shown in the photo below.

    Or from a foam ball and large sparkles.

    Christmas balls with snow

    New Year's balls with snow - of course with artificial snow are simply gorgeous! Don't know how to make artificial snow with your own hands? In fact, everything is simple, in order to make artificial snow with your own hands you will need: semolina, white paint and glue. Mix everything together and the artificial snow is ready (experiment with proportions, because there are no friends for taste and color). We cover the balls entirely or partially with the resulting mass, let them dry, and decorate the top with sparkles, beads, ribbons, etc. You get original Christmas tree balls.

    A similar effect (not so textured, but still) can be achieved using regular white paint- you just need to apply it with a sponge - in several layers.

    Decoupage of New Year's balls

    Decoupage is always beautiful, and decoupage of New Year's balls is doubly beautiful. We glue “background” pieces onto the ball, then the main design in the first photo is: an angel in front, and flowers in the back. Then we apply glue to the ball in places (on the top, in the center of the flowers) and apply gold leaf, a piece cotton fabric“we press” her. Next, with light movements of the brush, brush away the gold leaf from the areas not covered with glue; finally, you can coat the ball with varnish. And, of course, we attach a beautiful loop.

    Decoupage of New Year's balls can be done in different ways: using not only gold leaf, but also artificial snow or even coarse salt - you get unusual New Year's balls.

    Another idea that deserves attention: not just decoupage, but decoupage with three-dimensional contours. In the first case, a napkin is glued, and then on top is the same flower, previously glued to thick paper (cardboard). Then, using glue and glitter, we create more voluminous ones. bright accents- it turns out cute.

    In the second case, we use voluminous lace. Cut out the necessary parts. Apply primer to the ball. Then glue the pieces of lace. After the glue has dried, paint the ball with white acrylic paint. Next comes the most difficult part: mix wax and dark brown oil paint on a palette. Apply colored wax to the surface of the lace using a brush. Then we rub the wax into the volumetric surface with a foam sponge or sponge, thereby revealing the relief. Using a cloth with a solvent, remove excess wax, brightening the surface spaces between the lace and the protruding parts of the lace. Next, use your finger to rub colored wax-patina into the decorative surface of the ball, giving the product an even more aged look.

    Now let the patina dry for several hours. If desired, the surface can be protected with alcohol varnish. The varnish should be applied in two layers, allowing each layer to dry thoroughly. The varnish will allow you to wipe the surface with a damp cloth. We decorate the finished ball with ribbons and admire the result!

    Decoration of transparent Christmas balls

    Transparent balls are no less interesting to work with. Firstly, glass balls can simply be filled with - what? Anything! Using threads, strips of paper, pebbles, berries, pine cones, or even sand and shells, you get an original sea ball.

    Or you can paste them on the outside. The palm print looks original; it can be made with paint or pure glitter.

    It turns out in an original way if you apply glue to the ball, let it dry, then wash it off - you get a slightly pale glass (frosted).

    Or you can paint them from the inside and paint them on the outside.

    One can only envy those who have detachable balls. You can not easily paint New Year's balls, but work hard and make an unusual composition inside - a three-dimensional image, as you did before when decoupaging the balls. Reuse gold leaf, artificial snow, beads, etc.

    Decoration of Christmas balls made of polystyrene foam

    Shown above are beautiful layered fabric balls paired with sartorial pins. Using the same pins, you can beautifully wrap the balls with threads, ropes, and twine.

    The beauty of foam balls is that they are “soft”; you can use a stationery knife to make slits into which you can insert fabric or paper with a nail file. You can immediately press paper or fabric without making a preliminary cut. And then we cover the seams with beautiful lace, ribbons or beads. By the way, using this technique you can make images on balls: stars, Christmas trees, cakes, etc.

    And if you make a small basket out of cardboard or wire and attach it to a ball, you will get a charming toy in the form of a balloon.

    By the way, a New Year's toy: a balloon, can also be made from glass balls.
