• What's the best way to tan in the sun? Necessary healthy products for a beautiful and even tan. What is solar radiation

    08.02.2021

    Two years ago I moved to a city by the sea. I was amazed by the even and rich tan of the locals, and I decided at all costs to learn how to tan like that too. At first, due to lack of knowledge of the technique, after tanning my skin turned red and peeled. I read a lot, practiced and learned how to tan correctly. I’ll talk about this in the article.

    Why sunbathe?

    First, let's figure out what a tan is and why we need it. Ultraviolet rays damage skin cells. To protect yourself from them, special cells - melanocytes - are activated in the skin. They produce the pigment melanin and use it to create a dark filter on the skin, which absorbs ultraviolet radiation and prevents it from entering the deeper layers of the skin. We call this filter tanning.

    a person sheds dead skin during his life

    The top layer of skin - the epidermis - can be damaged by prolonged exposure to the sun. In this case, the outer stratum corneum of scales dead skin is replaced by new, living cells.

    Tanning is a barrier, a protective reaction of the skin to ultraviolet radiation.

    Vitamin D

    One of the benefits of tanning is that it is a natural way to get vitamin D.

    Vitamin D- a fat-soluble vitamin that helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus in the intestines. And these are strong teeth, nails, hair and bones. Vitamin D also activates the production of the happiness hormone - serotonin - so goodbye depression!

    The benefits and harms of tanning

    So is tanning harmful or beneficial? It's not the tan itself that's dangerous, but the process of getting it. First, the skin becomes inflamed from sunlight - it turns pink or red. If you immediately sunbathe for a long time, you can get a burn or even develop a blister.

    A moderate tan is beneficial, but a burn is harmful. In the table we will look at how a tan and a burn affects the body.

    Comparison of the effects of tanning and burns on the body

    A tan
    Production of the hormone of happiness
    Absorption of calcium and phosphorus
    Tone and even skin color
    Natural UV protection

    Burn
    Acceleration of the aging process
    Risk of developing melanoma
    Dry skin
    Growth of age spots

    There's a fine line between a tan and a burn, so try not to overexpose yourself to the sun.

    You can't sunbathe:

    • with numerous moles on the body, especially large ones;
    • for skin diseases - psoriasis, hyperpigmentation, etc.;
    • for oncological diseases;
    • if relatives had melanoma;
    • after chemotherapy;
    • after taking antibiotics.

    Preparing for tanning

    To get an even and successful tan, you need to prepare in advance - determine your phototype, choose clothes and accessories, and prepare your body.

    Phototype

    There are four main phototypes. Try to visually determine your photo type using the example of actresses from the TV series “Desperate Housewives”.

    Type 1: Celtic. Blonde or red hair, light blue, green or grey eyes, skin the color of milk and slightly pinkish. If they don’t sunbathe, they get burns in the form of red spots from short stay in the sun. Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp

    Type 2: light-skinned European. Light brown hair, blue, green or gray eyes, skin colors Ivory. They tan with difficulty and often get sunburned. Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo

    Type 3: dark-skinned European. Chestnut or dark blond hair, Brown eyes, skin the color of coffee with milk. In the sun they get a slight burn, which then turns into an intense tan. Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis

    Type 4: Mediterranean. Dark hair, dark brown eyes, dark skin tone. They tan easily without getting sunburn. Alfre Woodard as Betty Applewhite

    Depending on the phototype, you can choose the required level of protection

    Body preparation

    Smooth skin - even tan. Before getting your first dose of sunbathing, take your favorite belongings or just an exfoliating glove and remove rough skin cells. I choose a simple and natural option - regular ground coffee.

    My favorite scrub is coffee and a little shower gel. There is no need to rub the skin, gentle stroking is enough

    Drink enough fluids. Keep a glass or bottle of water nearby to quench your thirst in a timely manner. There is no need to drink when you don't want to - it will do more harm than good.

    There is no exact figure for how much water you need to drink per day. Regardless of the season. There is an approximate guideline - 30 ml of water per kilogram of body weight. At elevated temperature on the street, this bar can increase to 33-35 ml per kilogram, but you shouldn’t get too hung up on this either. If a person eats a lot of fruits and greens, he will need less water. How do you know if you're drinking enough? It's simple: lack of thirst and light or colorless urine.

    Scrub the skin on your body before tanning - this will allow the tan to lie evenly, and do not forget about moisturizing

    Sunscreens

    Sunscreens - creams, sprays, oils - will help to avoid burns. They are divided by level of protection, skin type and place of application - for face, body, hair and so on. It is advisable to apply the product half an hour before going out into the sun - this way it will have time to be absorbed into the deep layers of the skin. Typically, they are applied every two to three hours and after each immersion in water. Exact instructions are indicated on the product label, be sure to read it - conditions for applying sunscreen may vary.

    The most vulnerable places are the nose, shoulders and chest. It is better to lubricate them once every half hour.

    Body

    SPF (sun protection factor)- the main criterion when choosing a sunscreen. It helps you understand how much ultraviolet rays blocks the product, accordingly, how much the risk of burns will be reduced. At the same time, it is impossible to calculate how long you can safely stay in the sun: the SPF indicator does not characterize time, but an increase in the skin’s resistance to burns. So, a cream with SPF 20 means that your skin is additionally protected by 20%.

    In addition to the SPF level, when choosing a product you should consider individual characteristics skin - sensitivity, oily or dry, tendency to allergies, degree of elasticity and other factors.

    Ultraviolet rays are divided into three types:

    Types A and B and protection from them falls on our shoulders: look for products on the shelves that say UVA and UVB - they will do the job.

    Type C the most dangerous - the ozone layer protects from it.

    For the first sunbathing sessions, use a cream with maximum protection and gradually reduce the SPF level

    Vichy Ideal Soleil Spray SPF 50. Excellent for the first and second phototypes. Hypoallergenic, easy to apply, and at the same time cares for the correction of wrinkles, elasticity and radiance of the skin.

    Uriage SPF 30 spray. Suitable for the second and, at first, third phototypes. The spray applies easier than cream, does not stick and leaves no residue. Waterproof and suitable for sensitive skin and skin prone to allergies.

    Baraka 100% virgin Coconut Oil. Good for the third and fourth phototypes. Natural sun protection. Smells pleasant and softens the skin. It can be used to lubricate the body, lips, and hair. Doesn't leave greasy shine, quickly absorbed. You can choose any brand of coconut oil, the main thing is that it is free of impurities and additives.

    Face

    Facial skin is more delicate and sensitive, so it also requires special care.

    Sun block cream, SPF 45. Well suited for phototypes 1 and 2, especially for oily and problem skin. Waterproof, contains vitamins D and E.

    Libre Derm SPF 15 sunscreen. For tanning it is suitable for phototypes 3 and 4, for everyday use - for everyone. The cream contains omega 3,6,9, natural ingredients And thermal water. Absorbs quickly and does not stick.

    Don't forget about your headdress - a scarf, a Panama hat, a hat, a cap. It is very good if the headdress has sides - additional protection for the eyes and sensitive skin of the face.

    Lips

    To prevent dry lips, use lipstick with SPF.

    Sunscreen lip balm Libre Derm SPF 15. Moisturizes lips evenly and does not clump. Gives a slight shine.

    Hair

    Since a common scenario for sunbathing is the beach and the sea, you need to protect your hair not only from the sun, but also from salt water. This is dealt with by special hair sprays, which are applied each time before immersion in water.

    Don't forget to hide your hair under a hat so the sun doesn't burn it.

    Cliven Spray Oil. The spray envelops the hair with a thin film, protecting it from ultraviolet radiation and extreme conditions such as salt water and dry wind.

    The range of decorative and skincare cosmetics stores in my city is not very wide. Among the available ones, I chose Nivea sunscreens: good, but it could be better.

    Leader in use, I take it to the beach. I find the spray easier and faster to apply than the cream.

    I use it in the first days of tanning to avoid burns. Then I switch to a spray with a lower SPF.

    I apply it from time to time after taking a shower. But if you don’t spend too much time under the sun, this cream is not so necessary.

    I take the mini version of the sunshade when traveling, it’s convenient

    Stands in the closet unnecessarily: the tan goes on well and quickly without an amplifier

    It smells delicious and has a pleasant texture, but is quickly absorbed. You have to use it often, 7-8 times a day.

    The Nivea sunscreen line smells pleasant and is very gentle on the skin. It does the job, but is sticky and leaves white marks. But the hygienic lipstick is very cool!

    Select sunscreens according to your phototype and your individual parameters.
    Don't neglect protection, and your skin will thank you with a beautiful, healthy tan.

    Time for tanning

    The best time for tanning is when the sun is not at its zenith. Namely, sunrise and sunset. At this time, the sun's rays fall at a low angle and are partially blocked by the atmosphere. This reduces the risk of sunburn.

    before 11:00 and after 16:00 best time for Tan

    Don't get carried away, tan gradually. Start with ten minutes in the sun. For the next five days, add fifteen minutes to the duration. In five days - for another fifteen. With this regimen, it will take about three weeks for a full tan. Holders of the first phototype are recommended to reduce the listed periods by half.

    Geography is also important: The closer you are to the equator, the higher the solar activity and therefore the higher the risk of getting sunburn.

    The sun burns not only on sunny days. The idea that you don’t need to protect your skin in cloudy weather is a misconception. Reflected rays can also cause serious consequences, so there is a risk of getting sunburned in the shade, in the water, and under a beach canopy. Still, to reduce sun exposure, sunbathe in the shade. Under cover, the skin experiences less stress.

    A tan should be acquired gradually. Start small - 10 minutes to allow the skin to adapt. To avoid overexposure to the sun, set an alarm clock.

    How to tan beautifully

    For an even tan, lie down in the direction of the sun - it is not at all necessary to lie with your feet facing the water. After bathing, dry your skin. Water, like a lens, enhances sunlight and can lead to burns and inflammation.

    It is advisable to alternate tanning days with rest days so that the skin has time to adapt. For an even tan, try to expose the back of your arms and legs to the sun - we use these areas less often, and therefore they are lighter than the outer ones. The outer sides will tan without it.

    🐟 fish containing Omega-3 - salmon, salmon, mackerel and others;
    🍅 red and orange fruits and vegetables - tomatoes, apricots, peppers, grapefruits and oranges, carrots;
    🍫 dark chocolate;
    🥦 cabbage - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, any;
    🌿 greens - dill, onions, parsley, spinach, arugula;
    🍵 green or black loose leaf teas.

    After-sun care

    After swimming in the sea, take a cool shower to freshen up and remove any remaining salt water. You can add a mild cleanser, but it will do the job plain water. Never rub your body with a washcloth - this can damage your already irritated skin. Steaming in the bathroom is also not the best time.

    If the tan went well:

    • soak your skin with after-sun cream or care oil;
    • apply to face light moisturizer, gel or serum.

    Uriage Bariesun Soothing Cream After Sun. For facial skin dehydrated due to sun exposure. Soothes and provides a cooling effect, helps restore skin elasticity and softness.

    There is no need to apply sour cream to the burnt area: it can dry out like a crust and harm the skin even more.

    Even if you have great experience, do not neglect after-sun products. Cooling creams and gels will soothe, moisturize the skin and prevent peeling.

We ask only one thing - carefully read the article to the end, and take into account all the advice. If a girl wants to tan faster, she should not forget a few basic rules, which will be discussed further. But it’s better to put everything in order...

    How to achieve an even and quick tan at sea

    Sunbathing is an excellent relaxation that helps restore peace of mind. Now we are talking about how to tan evenly and quickly at sea.

    You need to prepare your skin:

    • Remember to protect yourself from harmful UV rays, so before leaving the house, apply a thin layer of sunscreen tailored to your skin type to exposed areas;
    • Constantly use moisturizing lotions to help prevent dryness and flaking;
    • Don’t forget to use body and face scrubs, they will even out the surface of the skin and help you tan much more evenly and quickly;

    • Eat more carrots, or drink carrot juice. It accelerates the body's production of melanin, which promotes tanning.

    All of the above procedures and tricks the best way will affect your appearance.

    We do not recommend eating heavily before sunbathing. It is advisable not to go out in the sun during the midday hours, as the aggressive effects of ultraviolet radiation can lead to cancer. Choose a time before ten in the morning and after four in the evening. In the meantime, you expect to get sunburn and worsen your overall health.

    When sunbathing, turn over and change body position every 5-7 minutes, do not allow one-sided “roasting”. All these are so-called folk remedies that are suitable for quickly tanning in the sun. There are too many factors at sea that can turn a vacation into a nightmare, and the tan can fade very quickly upon arrival home. But if you use these little tricks, the sun will quickly gild your skin and will not cause any problems.

    It's good at home too

    Now we’ll tell you how to quickly tan at home. If you can’t go to the seaside, or don’t have free funds to visit the salon, don’t rush to get upset. Achieving an even, aesthetic tan is quite possible at home.

    Today there are many folk ways make your skin darker and more beautiful by using wellness masks for the face and body. A leader can be called coffee mask, and its various variations.

    We present the “top 3” most effective:

    • After grinding the beans in a coffee grinder, add a small amount of water to them. Mix, bringing the consistency to a thick paste, and apply to cleansed facial skin. This mask will give a delicate olive tint and perfectly scrub the surface of the epidermis;
    • Brew coffee or cocoa in the morning and... wash your face. A daily procedure, put on in two, will do its “dark” work, to your satisfaction. By the way, you can try freezing it coffee grounds, and wipe your face from time to time with these ice pieces, simultaneously making the skin more elastic;
    • Cotton swabs soaked in strong brewed coffee will also darken your complexion, but do not forget to wipe your face with them.

    Can be smeared on the body special oils that contribute quick tan. These include the following natural products, as a squeeze from St. John's wort, sea buckthorn, walnut. It would be great to add a decoction of rosehip, mixed with cypress and lavender oil. These are the folk remedies you can use at home.

    Don't forget about cosmetics, which can be found in great abundance on supermarket shelves. Self-tanning lotions, creams and sprays are no longer new. With their help, the question of what to apply to tan faster and more evenly can be decided individually, taking into account your skin type.

    Please read the instructions that come with them carefully, as what works for your friend may not necessarily work for you.

    Consult with specialists who know exactly the features of a particular product and will be able to advise knowledgeably. You can apply such lotions only once, and for several weeks you will be provided with an even and beautiful self-tanning. True, it is unlikely that this will work out flawlessly the first time, but with due care and skill, you will clearly become the queen in your social circle.

    The salon can help us

    Now let's move on to the story of how to quickly and beautifully tan in a solarium. It turns out that there are some nuances here too. First of all, you should not visit the solarium during menstruation, pregnancy, or illness endocrine system or with allergic rashes. All creams and lotions intended for tanning in the sun are absolutely not suitable for changing pigment in a salon.

    It is not advisable to undergo this procedure after peeling or recently done hair removal; a shower with soap and a hard washcloth is also not necessary, take care of your skin. Do not apply any perfume, otherwise an allergic reaction will occur.

    • For fair, fair-skinned girls who are covered in freckles and have predominantly red hair, it is advisable not to spend the first session longer than 2-3 minutes. It is better to reduce all further visits to two per week to achieve the desired chocolate shade;
    • European skin type allows you to increase the time of the first visit to 5 minutes, and up to three times a week. The tan will also cover the skin with an even layer, but do not exceed the total stay in the tube for more than 15 minutes;
    • Those who do not get sunburned can allow themselves 20 minutes of relaxation and reduce the total number of visits to 5. Such girls are predominantly dark blond or brown-haired, and their skin type is mixed;
    • Dark brunettes are in the lead; they can spend the same twenty minutes in the solarium almost the first time, and in total they will need no more than five visits.

    Preparatory procedures are the same for all types, but focus on individual features. For example, remove contact lenses if you wear them. Sunbathe in a bra or do not refuse special plastic pads that protect your breasts from intense radiation. Do not apply decorative cosmetics before the procedure to avoid allergies.

    Summer, sun, river or sea – who doesn’t dream about it? Perhaps everyone is waiting for this magical time. It is during vacation that we restore strength, relax not only with our bodies, but also with our souls. In this material, we invite you to talk about how to tan in the sun quickly, beautifully, and most importantly safely.

    It’s worth saying that when going to any body of water, the goal of many people is not only to swim to their heart’s content, but also to get a tan. A tanned, chocolate body has become so fashionable that some people are even ready to give a lot of money in order to have beautiful colour skin.

    We immediately draw your attention to the fact that you need to be able to sunbathe. Of course, for many this may look funny, since we are accustomed to the fact that when we want to sunbathe, we simply lie down under the rays of the sun and wait for the result we need. Be aware that this tanning option may not only not meet your expectations, but also cause great harm to your health.

    If you value your health and treat it with care, then the following tips just for you:

    • Firstly, you must realize that not everyone can sunbathe and ignoring these recommendations is highly undesirable. People who have increased sensitivity to sunlight should be very careful about spending time in the sun.
    • Those people who also need to be careful have light skin. Moles, dark spots– another reason for concern. If at least one of the above factors is present, the tanning process should be as gentle as possible, since people with such characteristics are prone to sunburn.
    • As soon as you arrive at the sea or a river, you should not immediately “throw yourself into the pool headlong.” To get started, sunbathe 10-15 minutes and, preferably, not in the open sun. Don't forget that shoulders, chest, legs are the areas where the skin is most sensitive.
    • Use sunscreen. For some reason, many people think that it is enough to apply the cream just once during one visit to the beach, but this is a huge mistake. Such products need to be applied every hour and take into account the characteristics of the skin.

    IMPORTANT: If possible, avoid visiting the beach at lunchtime. It is from 12 to 15 hours that the sun can harm your health. It is best to sunbathe before 12 and after 16 hours.

    • Many believe that while in water, the skin is protected from ultraviolet rays. If you think the same, you are mistaken. As practice shows, the tan “sticks” even faster in water, which, in fact, is where the danger lies.
    • While a person is in the water, this process is almost unnoticeable, but as soon as you step onto land, a burning sensation will immediately begin to be felt. In order to avoid such situations, do not forget to use the cream before swimming.

    Your tan will be much more beautiful if:

    1. The body position will change every 5-10 minutes. At the same time, do not forget to dip into the water occasionally.
    2. Will be used special means. Various tanning creams will enhance the effect and give your skin a golden hue. Remember that such products should be selected individually based on your skin type.
    3. After tanning, you will take a contrast shower and apply nourishing lotion to dry skin.

    Be very vigilant: sometimes the hours fly by when spending time at the beach. It's no secret that during the process itself you can't always feel how much the skin is tanned. The most interesting thing begins then: the skin begins to turn red, blisters and burns appear. This is why we recommend doing everything consistently and not chasing results at any cost.

    How long can you sunbathe in the sun, and at what time?

    Earlier we talked a little about these important issues, now let's look at them in more detail. Before hearing the answers to these questions, you must clearly understand one simple but very important thing: your health is much more important than even the most beautiful tan.

    • Of course, we all want to get great results and spend a minimum of time. But remember, it doesn't happen that way. It is for this reason that before sunbathing, you need to find out the rules and recommendations with which it will be much easier and, most importantly, safe.
    • It is recommended to tan gradually. As soon as you arrive at the sea or another body of water, you should begin the process extremely carefully.
    • To begin with, sunbathe for half an hour, while changing your body position every 10 minutes maximum. You should not sunbathe in the open sun. A good option Can be a place in the shade, as well as a beach umbrella.
    • With each subsequent day, increase your time in the sun, do not forget to swim periodically, this way you will get a better tan.
    • As soon as a period will pass Once your body has adapted to sunbathing, you can safely enjoy the “tanning” process.
    • Regarding the best time to sunbathe, it must be said unequivocally that it is either morning or evening.

    • The sun is at its most dangerous from 12 to 15 hours. It is recommended to spend this period of time in your room or, at least, away from open sunlight. At this time, the sun can bring you not only burns, but also sunstroke, and this, as you know, is incredibly dangerous for your health.
    • The sun is at its most gentle from 8 to 12 am. This is the perfect time for an even golden or chocolate tan.
    • From 15 to 18 hours The sun's rays are also very mild and are unlikely to cause you any problems.
    • It goes without saying that you need to understand that, even while sunbathing at 16:00 in the evening, you need to follow the basic safety rules that we talked about earlier.

Solariums imitate the process of obtaining a natural tan using concentrated UV rays. This may give you a nice tan, but it has been proven to increase your risk of cancer. Self-tanning is a relatively safe product because it completely eliminates exposure to ultraviolet rays, but you won't get the natural look of tanning in the sun. These products don't last as long as UV exposure does, and you'll likely need to take precautions to prevent the tan from fading off your skin in patches.

    Steps

    Tanning in the sun

      Just lie in direct sunlight. This is much safer than going to a solarium and will give your skin a natural, beautiful tone.

      Find a way to pass the time. Sleeping is a great option because it makes time pass faster, and when you read books, you block some of the sun's rays when you lie on your back. Take a nap for about an hour to an hour and a half, setting an alarm so you can wake up on time. Then roll over to the other side and go back to sleep. You can repeat this process until you achieve your desired skin tone.

      • If you are in public place, use this method only if you are confident in your complete safety. Ideally, there should be another person nearby who can watch you while you sleep. Try not to fall asleep with headphones on, because you need to hear everything that is happening around you or your things.
    1. Optimize your tanning time. It is necessary to sunbathe between 10 and 2 o'clock, since at this time the sun behaves most intensely. You can also sunbathe in partly cloudy weather, which can give you an even more intense tan as the sun's rays reflect off the clouds, increasing the amount of ultraviolet radiation you receive. Try sunbathing in or near water. Water is another natural tan enhancer.

      Always tan safely to avoid sunburn and skin damage. When tanning, you should use sunscreen no matter where you are. Apply your tanning lotion 30 minutes before going out into the sun to give it time to absorb into your skin. Reapply lotion every hour for 10 minutes.

      • If you sunbathe while sleeping, use a cream with an SPF of at least 20 or 30 if you sleep for about an hour, and one with an SPF of 40-50 if you sleep for more than an hour. Reapply the cream between bedtimes. Skin damage from the sun is a very real problem that occurs whether it is immediately noticeable or not.
      • Also remember to apply sunscreen every time you get out of the water. Some manufacturers claim that their sunscreens Waterproof, but they still wash off fairly easily. Try applying the cream after it has dried to be sure you are getting maximum protection.
      • Drink plenty of water to avoid becoming dehydrated.
    2. Consider using suntan oil. You can find it in the sunscreen section of many pharmacies and stores. Be careful when using tanning oil as it can be very intense. It is best to get a minimal tan first and then use similar products, rather than immediately getting a severe sunburn. Avoid using thick creams as they clog pores and create a sticky feeling.

      Get an even tan. Contrary to popular belief, lying still in the sun for long periods of time will tan much faster. Being active prevents the sun from concentrating on a specific area for an extended period of time. The most in a simple way To obtain an even tan while remaining mobile, turn over from your stomach to your back every 5-10 minutes.

      • Try to tan evenly and make sure that no part of your body is in the shade so you don't end up with funny white spots.
      • Remember to roll over onto your stomach to tan your back, not just your front. You also need to turn on your side so that the sun's rays hit the sides of your legs, hips and waist.
      • Wear a strapless swimsuit or top to avoid strap marks. Consider sunbathing topless.

    Tanning in a solarium

    1. Consider tanning in a solarium if you can't get one at the beach. Tanning in a solarium is similar to natural tanning, but may be a better option in the cold season. It's best to start with short periods of time in a tanning bed (less than 10 minutes), as this puts the source of UV rays closer and can burn your skin much faster.

      • Just like sunbathing, you should stay active while in the tanning bed. It's best to lift your legs and shoulders frequently, about every 30 seconds.
    2. Buy a tanning kit and lotion. Make sure you use tanning lotion in a tanning salon and not regular sun tanning lotion. Most salons will provide you with the opportunity to purchase high-quality options at various price ranges. This is quite expensive, so it is more profitable to buy a whole bottle of lotion than to take disposable kits every time you visit a solarium.

      Visit the salon and sign up for a solarium. Choose a set depending on how long you plan to tan. Don't forget to take advantage of student or new customer discounts and seasonal offers.

      • It is best to sunbathe without clothes, if this is comfortable for you. If this is not your option, wear this underwear, which will not leave extra stripes.
      • Standing tanning beds are much more hygienic, but reclining tanning beds are disinfected after each use.
    3. Be patient. Start with a short period of time of about 5-7 minutes, which will allow you to find out how your skin reacts to tanning. Increase the time gradually after the first tanning session.

      Think about your health. Tanning beds significantly increase the risk of skin cancer. Carefully weigh the risks and benefits before using a tanning salon. Reclining tanning beds are especially dangerous for young people. People under the age of 30 are much more likely to develop melanoma.
